Definitions

  • the present invention relates to an arrangement and a method for automatically positioning the device with respect to the patient's eye to be examined in x, y and / or z coordinates.
  • This method can be used advantageously to simplify the determination of the biometric data of the eye as well as other diagnostically and therapeutically relevant settings on the basis of manual or stored method sequences. Data from an examination can be stored in order to examine the corresponding areas under the same conditions during a later re-examination and thus to be able to determine changes.
  • Patent specification EP 1 088 511 describes an ophthalmic device which has a positioning unit for aligning the measuring unit with respect to the eye to be examined.
  • a detection unit which determines the position of the measuring unit relative to the eye and controls it during the measurement. The determined measured values are stored or discarded as a function of the eye position determined by the detection unit.
  • a disadvantage of this solution in comparison to the method proposed here is the fact that the measuring unit of the ophthalmic device at the beginning of the examination, ie when the patient has sat in front of the device and brought his eye into a fixed position, by the operator using a joystick must be aligned. Only after this rough adjustment can the detection unit determine the position of the eye and send the corresponding signals to the positioning unit for fine adjustment. That means the process is subject subjective influences such as the experience of the operator when setting.
  • the position of the eyes is also determined by illuminating the eyes and then evaluating the reflected radiation.
  • the photodetectors receive the radiation emitted by the respective associated radiation emitter and reflected by the eye.

  • This technical solution particularly determines the focus position, i. H. the exact distance of the eye from the optics of the device.
  • the present invention has for its object to develop an ophthalmic device and a method for its control, in which the subjective sources of error in the alignment of the device on the optical axis of the eye are minimized, so that the measured values to be determined are accurate and reliable.

  • the difference between the center of the eye 12 and the optical axis 15 of the ophthalmic device is adjusted to zero by relative movement and constant control by the eye tracker unit 8. This is possible because the eye tracker unit 8 has a high measurement repetition rate and supplies the exact coordinates of the pupil center several times per second. After alignment in the x and y directions, the lens setting of the imaging system of the eye tracker unit 8 can be changed in order to use z. B. higher accuracy
  • the eye tracker unit 8 is expediently connected to the optical axis 15 of the observation system 2, as a result of which a possible parallax need not be taken into account.
  • the positioning process is triggered by a release button, a pulse generator on the forehead rest 14, the chin rest 15 or the like. Furthermore, it is possible to position the ophthalmic device automatically on the other eye of the patient after the end of the examinations and / or measurements or by pressing a button. After treating a patient, the ophthalmic device can be moved into a basic position. For the next patient, the device is either aligned automatically to the specified eye to be examined first, or the control unit is informed of which eye the positioning should take place on. However, it is also conceivable that the ophthalmic device remains in the last position after the treatment of a patient. The control unit can be informed to the next patient which eye the alignment should take place on, or the examination begins with the eye of the previous patient last examined eye.
  • ophthalmic device With the ophthalmic device according to the invention, a solution is proposed which enables the entire device to be automatically positioned with respect to the eye to be examined. As a result, both the examination and the determination of the biometric data of an eye can be simplified and significantly accelerated. Apart from the actuators, no further technical means are required, so that the structure of the overall device does not become more complicated and confusing. Fundus cameras and slit lamps, for example, are conceivable as ophthalmic devices.
