Description
The present invention relates to a combustion chamber assembly, particularly for a vehicle heater, comprising a combustion chamber housing having an outer wall and a bottom wall, wherein in the bottom wall, a Verbrennungsluftzuführbereich is provided for supplying combustion air in a combustion chamber formed in the combustion chamber, as defined in the preamble of claim 1 is.
In heaters, especially in vehicle heaters, the combustion air fed into a combustion chamber is generally the ambient air, so that when fed into the combustion chamber, this combustion air in general also has ambient temperature. This means that in phases in which such heaters are activated, for example, as a heater or as a heater, comparatively low outside temperatures prevail and thus the combustion air fed into the combustion chamber has a comparatively low temperature. Since in general the combustion air is conveyed to the combustion chamber housing axially, ie in the direction of the longitudinal center axis of a combustion chamber or a flame tube, it initially comes into contact with the bottom wall of the combustion chamber housing or a region of this bottom wall. As a result, this bottom wall is relatively strongly cooled. As a result, a lower temperature will also prevail on the inside of the combustion chamber housing in this area, which is cooled relatively comparatively from the outside, than in other areas. This in turn can result in a correspondingly non-uniform temperature distribution in the combustion chamber itself, which temperature irregularities can lead to increased deposits of combustion residues in the combustion chamber itself.

It is the object of the present invention to provide a combustion chamber arrangement in which a uniform temperature distribution can be provided in a combustion chamber formed thereon.
According to the invention, this object is achieved by a combustion chamber arrangement, in particular for a vehicle heater, comprising a combustion chamber housing with an outer wall and a bottom wall, wherein in the bottom wall a Verbrennungsluftzuführbereich is provided for supplying combustion air into a combustion chamber formed in the combustion chamber housing, wherein provided in the combustion chamber housing a limiting element is that limits an effective combustion area of the combustion chamber at a distance from the bottom wall. On a side of the outer wall of the combustion chamber housing facing the combustion chamber, a porous evaporator medium is provided.
In the combustion chamber arrangement according to the invention thus ends by the provision of the limiting element that portion of the combustion chamber formed in the combustion chamber in which combustion can take place and is thus effectively used for combustion, already at a distance from the bottom wall. The consequence of this is that a reduced heat transfer contact is provided between the region in which combustion takes place and the bottom wall cooled comparatively strongly from the outside, and thus the temperature level in the combustion chamber or the region thereof in which combustion proceeds is substantially more uniform. By provided on the inside of the outer wall porous evaporator medium on the one hand a very uniform distribution of the initially liquid fuel over the entire circumference of the combustion chamber is obtained, on the other hand, a large Abdampfungsfläche ensured with correspondingly uniform evaporation of the fuel in the combustion chamber.
In order to be able to further improve this insulation effect introduced by the limiting element to be provided according to the invention, it is proposed that an intermediate space be provided between the limiting element and the bottom wall. The intermediate space formed between the delimiting element and the bottom wall therefore forms an insulating layer which effects a further reduced heat transfer from the combustion chamber or the combustion taking place therein to the combustion chamber housing in this area.
It can be provided to further improve the insulation effect that the gap is in communication with the effective combustion area of the combustion chamber. Thus, the gaseous medium present in the intermediate space is already at a somewhat elevated temperature, which in particular further reduces the heat flow from the effective region of the combustion chamber to the intermediate space.
In a particularly preferred embodiment of the combustion chamber arrangement according to the invention, provision can be made for a combustion air inlet section to originate from the bottom wall and for the boundary element to be supported on the combustion air inlet section.
In order to be able to obtain the above-mentioned connection between the intermediate space on the one hand and the effective region of the combustion chamber on the other hand, in such an arrangement, it is further proposed that a distance is provided at least in regions between an outer peripheral region of the limiting element and the outer wall of the combustion chamber housing.
It is further proposed that a distance is provided at least in regions between an outer peripheral region of the delimiting element and the porous evaporator medium.
The present invention further relates to a heater, in particular for vehicles, comprising a combustion chamber arrangement according to the invention and a combustion air blower which promotes combustion air in the direction of the bottom wall of the combustion chamber to and through the combustion air inlet region thereof into the combustion chamber.
The present invention will now be described in detail with reference to the accompanying figure which is a longitudinal sectional view of a combustor assembly according to the present invention.
The
On an
The further construction of a heater is known per se and will not be explained in detail here. It is only to be noted that the combustion products emerging from the
It can be seen in the figure further that in the
The limiting
The consequence of the above-described division of the
It can be seen in the figure further that between the outer peripheral region of the limiting
With the
