Um die bei der plastischen Reckung auftretenden Verformungen auf ein Minimum zu reduzieren und folglich die Bildung von Mittenschüsseln sowie ungleichmäßig verteilte Restspannungen nahezu zu eliminieren, kennt man ein Verfahren der eingangs beschriebenen Ausführungsform, wonach das Band in einem zwischen dem Bremsrollensatz und dem Zugrollensatz zwischengeschalteten Zugreckrollehpaar dem zu seiner Reckung, im plastischen Bereich erforderlichen Streckzug unterworfen wird (vgl. Daraus resultieren optimale Richtergebnisse. Dabei kann das Band in allen Reckzonen im plastischen Bereich gereckt werden. Nach einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform der Erfindung ist jedoch vorgesehen, dass - bei Verwirklichung von drei Reckzonen - das Band in der einlaufseitigen Reckzone und in der auslaufseitigen Reckzone im plastischen Bereich gereckt wird und in der zwischen diesen Zonen befindlichen mittleren Reckzone lediglich einer im elastischen Bereich liegenden Bandzugspannung unterworfen wird. Daraus resultiert eine Abrundung der Fließkurve im Spannungs-Dehnungs-Schaubild beim Überschreiten der Streckgrenze zwischen dem elastischen und plastischen Bereich, weil eben das Band in der mittleren Reckzone eine Entlastung vom plastischen in den elastischen Bereich und eine Wiederbelastung von dem elastischen Bereich in den plastischen Bereich erfährt. Um diesen Effekt zu optimieren, liegt die Bandzugspannung in der mittleren Reckzone bei ≤ 80 %, vorzugsweise ≤ 50 % der Streckgrenze des betreffenden Bandmaterials. Folglich resultiert aus dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren eine besonders kompakte und raumsparende Bauweise für die zur Durchführung des Verfahrens erforderliche Zugreckanlage. Ferner sieht die Erfindung vor, dass das Band nach dem Durchlaufen der einlaufseitigen Reckzone oder Reckzonen aufgewickelt und abgewickelt wird.
