Claims (24)

  1. An apparatus for trimming book blocks (1, 1'), wherein the apparatus (100) is provided with at least a first lateral blade (21) for performing a first lateral edge trim, wherein the first lateral blade (21) is attached to a moveably mounted first lateral blade holder (31) and is provided with a second lateral blade (22) for performing a second lateral edge trim, wherein the second lateral blade (22) is attached to a moveably mounted second lateral blade holder (32), characterized in that the blade holders (31, 32) are provided with individual drives (91, 92) which are mechanically independent of one another.
  2. The apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that the apparatus is provided with at least one guide (50) by which at least one blade holder is guided on both sides along its direction of movement and said guide (50) consists, on both sides, of at least one guide face (50) made of a wear-resistant material.
  3. The apparatus according to claim 2, characterized in that said wear-resistant material is PET.
  4. The apparatus according to one of the claims 2 to 3, characterized in that at least one adjusting screw (51) is assigned to at least one guide face (50), which makes it possible to change the position of the guide face (50) in relation to the position of the lateral blade holder (31, 32, 33).
  5. The apparatus according to one of the claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the apparatus is provided with a linkage mechanism (69, 70, 71) which connects the blade holders to a drive, wherein the linkage mechanism (69, 70, 71) comprises a first coupler (69) and a second coupler (70), wherein the first coupler (69) is connected to the blade holder (31, 32, 33), a blade holder housing (61, 62) and eccentrically via a movable rod (70) to a drive pulley (72); and the second coupler (70) is connected to the blade holder housing (61, 62) and the blade holder (31, 32, 33); and the first coupler (69) and the second coupler (69) are configured such that the distance between the point of contact between blade holder housing (61, 62) and blade holder (31, 32, 33) is different for the first and second coupler (69, 70).
  6. The apparatus according to one of the claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the apparatus is provided with a linkage mechanism (69, 70, 71) which connects the blade holders to a drive, wherein the linkage mechanism (69, 70, 71) consists of a first coupler (69) and a second coupler (70), wherein the first coupler (69) is connected to the blade holder (31, 32, 33), a blade holder housing (61, 62) and eccentrically via a movable rod (70) to a drive pulley (72); and the second coupler (70) is connected to the blade holder housing (61, 62) and the blade holder (31, 32, 33); and the apparatus (100) is provided with a controller (99) configured such that it terminates the downward movement of the blade holder (31, 32, 33) by reversing the drive when a predetermined cutting depth has been reached.
  7. The apparatus according to one of the claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the blade holders (31, 32) are movably fastened to the blade holder housings (61, 62); and the blade holder housings (61, 62) are mounted in a horizontally displaceable manner on two mutually parallel guide rods (85, 86), which are fastened to the housing (80) of the apparatus (100); and both blade holder housings (61, 62) are mounted on the same two mutually parallel guide rods (85, 86), which are fastened to the housing (80) of the apparatus (100).
  8. The apparatus according to claim 7, characterized in that the apparatus is provided with at least one drive (141) for displacing at least one of the blade holder housings (61, 62), together with the blade holder (31, 32) fastened to said blade holder housings (61, 62), horizontally along the guide rods (85, 86).
  9. The apparatus according to claim 8, characterized in that the apparatus (100) is provided with a threaded spindle (145, 146) parallel to at least one of the two parallel guide rods (85, 86) for converting the drive movement of the drive (141) into a horizontal movement of the blade holder housings (61, 62).
  10. The apparatus according to one of the claims 7 to 9, characterized in that the apparatus (100) comprises a controller (99) which automatically changes the position of the blade holder housings (61, 62) on the two parallel guide rods (85, 86) in accordance with the dimensions of the trimmed book block (1, 1').
  11. The apparatus according to one of the claims 7 to 10, characterized in that at least one of the blade holder housings (61, 62) is provided with a brake (150, 151, 152, 153, 154) by which it is possible to fix at least one blade holder housing (61, 62) on at least one of the two mutually parallel guide rods (85, 86).
  12. The apparatus according to claim 11, characterized in that the apparatus (100) is provided with a controller (99) by the brake (150, 151, 152, 153, 154) fixes the at least one blade holder housing (61, 62) on one of the two parallel guide rods (85, 86) before the blade holders (31, 32) are moved vertically.
  13. The apparatus according to one of the claims 1 to 12, characterized in that the apparatus (100) is provided with an apparatus for pressing down the lateral book block edges next to each lateral blade (21, 22, 23), wherein the apparatus for pressing down the lateral book block edges has a pressing strip (167); and the apparatus for pressing down the book block edges can be moved horizontally together with the lateral blade holder housings (61, 62).
  14. The apparatus according to claim 13, characterized in that the pressing strip (167) is provided with rods (161) at both ends which are mounted in guides (166) in a vertically movable manner and which are each connected to a common cross-member (163) via toggle levers (164).
  15. The apparatus according to claim 14, characterized in that the apparatus for pressing down the book block edges is provided with a drive (160), in particular a pneumatic drive (160), which drives the cross-member (163) substantially horizontally, wherein the substantially horizontal movement is converted by the toggle levers (164) into a vertical movement of the pressing strip (167).
  16. The apparatus according to one of the claims 1 to 15, characterized in that the apparatus (100) is provided with an apparatus for pressing down the book block surface between the lateral blades (21, 22), wherein the apparatus for pressing down the book block surface is provided with at least one drive (170), a push rod (171) connected to the drive (170) and a press plate (180) connected to the push rod (171), and the apparatus is provided with an insertion aid (190) for changing the press plate (180), wherein the insertion aid (190) is provided with an insertion rail (190) which is aligned with the transverse rod (172) during changing of the press plate (180).

  18. The apparatus according to one of the claims 16 to 17, characterized in that the apparatus (100) is provided with a magazine with press plates (180) of varying dimensions.
  19. The apparatus according to one of the claims 16 to 18, characterized in that the apparatus (100) is provided with means for automatically changing the press plate (180).
  20. The apparatus according to one of the claims 16 to 19, characterized in that the underside of the press plate (180) has connection elements for accommodating a press plate extension (185) underneath the press plate (180), in particular an adhesive surface for accommodating a stiff board (185).
  21. The apparatus according to claim 20, characterized in that the press plate extension (185) is a board (185) which is trimmed with the same positional settings of the lateral blades (21, 22) for trimming the book block (1).
  22. The apparatus according to one of the claims 1 to 21, characterized in that the lateral blades (21, 22) are interchangeable.
  23. The apparatus according to one of the claims 1 to 22, characterized in that the apparatus is provided with a front blade (23) for performing a front edge trim, wherein the front blade (23) is attached to a movably mounted front blade holder (33).
  24. The apparatus according to claim 23, characterized in that the front blade (23) and / or the front blade holder (33) has the same properties as the lateral blades (23) or the lateral blade holders (33) respectively in one of the claims 1 to 28.
