Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to cleaning agents for removing heavy contaminants from outdoor vehicle surfaces containing amine oxides and polypeptides.
On the outer surfaces of means of transport, such as cars, trucks, trains, trams and in particular aircraft, there are regularly strong, difficult to remove soils. Such contamination is particularly intolerable on the outer skin of aircraft.
Aircraft Exterior Cleaners are not only for cleaning dirty aircraft, but are also essential for the economical operation of aircraft. Airplane aluminum surfaces are permanently contaminated with aviation gasoline, carbon fumes and lubricants during flight operations. Due to the dirt, the surface roughness increases, so that the necessary for the buoyancy air flow is slightly turbulent. As a result, more driving force and thus more fuel is needed to keep the aircraft at the desired cruising speed. Impurities can also cause corrosion of the aluminum components, which can lead to a significant impairment of flight safety.
Aircraft exterior cleaners must meet a large number of requirements. According to the SAE Specification AMS (Aerospace Material Standards) 1526 (Cleaner for aircraft exterior surfaces, water-miscible, pressure-spraying type) corrosion effect, hydrogen embrittlement, material compatibility and the stability of the cleaning agent are examined.
In the prior art aircraft exterior cleaners are known which aqueous solutions of surfactants, organic solvents and inorganic substances are. The inorganic ingredients promote the abrasion of dirt particles. However, these water-insoluble ingredients often cause a matte film on the aircraft surface if the cleaner is not subsequently rinsed completely with clean water. The organic solvents are very harmful to aquatic organisms when disposing of the cleaners. In addition, they cause unpleasant odors and promote the risk of ignition due to their low vapor pressure.
In the prior art aircraft cleaners have been formulated mostly with poorly degradable and environmentally hazardous corrosion inhibitors, such as sodium nitrate, sodium nitrite or thiourea.

It is clear from the prior art that the development of aircraft exterior cleaners has hitherto concentrated almost exclusively on improving the cleaning effect. So far, little has been done to formulate aircraft exterior cleaners simultaneously with more environmentally benign corrosion inhibitors.
The object of the invention was therefore to develop an aircraft exterior cleaner, which not only effectively removes dirt but additionally contains environmentally friendly corrosion inhibitors. In addition, the cleaner should be free from solvents and other substances that can cause unpleasant odors due to their low vapor pressure, are easily flammable and beyond health can be. The cleaner should be suitable for other means of transport except for aircraft.
Surprisingly, it has now been found that detergents based on tertiary amine oxides and polypeptides have a particularly good activity as corrosion inhibitors.

A preferred subject of the invention is the use of the composition according to the invention as exterior cleaner for aircraft.
Another object of the invention is a method for the exterior cleaning of means of transport, in particular of aircraft, by applying the composition of the invention to the outer skin of the means of transport to be cleaned.
The constituent a) of the composition according to the invention preferably accounts for 15 to 25 wt .-% of the total weight. R 1 is preferably an alkyl, alkenyl, alkoxypropyl or alkenylamidoalkyl group having 10 to 16 carbon atoms. R 2 and R 3 are preferably alkyl radicals having 1 to 6, in particular 1 to 4 C-atoms or may also mean hydroxyethyl or hydroxypropyl radicals. Examples of constituent a) are: cocoalkyldimethylamine oxide, stearyldimethylamine oxide, lauryldimethylamine oxide and C 14 -alkyldimethylamine oxide. Component a) may also be a mixture of the abovementioned amine oxides.
Component b) is an alkali metal salt of polyaspartic acid or polyglutamic acid having a molecular weight of preferably 7,000 g / mol to 20,000 g / mol, or a mixture of both substances. These are readily degradable, non-toxic and water-soluble biopolymers, in particular polypeptides. So far, these compounds are mainly used as a dispersant in cooling water and for the removal of limescale. It has been shown that these substances are just as well suited as a corrosion inhibitor for use in aircraft exterior cleaners.
In addition, defoamers, dyes, complexing agents and antioxidants may be included in the cleaners.
The pH of aircraft exterior cleaners should generally be 6.5 to 11, preferably 9 to 10. If the composition according to the invention does not have such a pH, it can be adjusted by means of suitable pH regulators. For this purpose suitable basic compounds are those from the group of alkali metal hydroxides, such as NaOH and KOH.
The preparation of the composition of the invention is carried out by mixing the individual components in any order, which can be carried out for example in a container equipped with a stirrer.
The resulting formulations show excellent soil release power. Practical tests on motor vehicles have shown that even stubborn insect contamination on windscreens can be easily removed. The product leaves no streaks, contains no organic solvents and contains only environmentally friendly and easily degradable corrosion inhibitors.
Light dirt can be easily removed with a dilution cleaner: water = 1:15. For stubborn dirt, a dilution of 1: 5 is recommended.
Die Erfindung wird nun durch Beispiele erläutert. The invention will now be illustrated by examples.
An assessment of the cleaning effect is carried out by soil release tests. For this purpose, a 2024-T3 aluminum sheet of size 5 x 2 cm and a thickness of 1 mm is used. The aluminum sheet is etched before the start of the experiment with a dilute sodium hydroxide solution and then with a dilute nitric acid solution. As a result, the surface is roughened, so that dirt particles can better settle on the sheet. The sheet is alternately provided with different impurities. These include plain bearing grease, vaseline and artificially generated aircraft dirt.
Anschließend wird der Schmutz 12 Stunden lang bei 100°C in einem Trockenschrank in das Aluminiumblech eingebrannt.100 g of this artificial aircraft dirt consist of 1 g of lanolin, 20 g of activated carbon, 10 g of talc, 15 g of lubricating oil and 54 g of kerosene. The components are intimately mixed and applied to the aluminum sheet in a thin film. The dirt is then baked for 12 hours at 100 ° C in a drying oven in the aluminum sheet.
To assess the soil release force, the aluminum sheet provided with plain bearing grease, vaseline or artificial aircraft soil is immersed in a solution of 100 ml of detergent. The solution is in a beaker in which a magnetic stirrer rotates at 500 revolutions per minute. After regular intervals, an assessment of the detached dirt components is carried out.
The soil release power of this cleaning agent is investigated by the method described above. Already within a few minutes, the contaminants plain bearing grease, vaseline and artificially generated aircraft dirt are completely removed from the aluminum plates both from the concentrate and from the 1: 1 and 1: 2 dilutions with water.
Further investigations of the aircraft cleaning agent described in Example 1 show that all further requirements of the SAE specification AMS 1526 are met. The product does not cause corrosion on aluminum, magnesium and steel alloys and does not affect acrylic glass, painted or unpainted aircraft surfaces.
This cleaning agent also removes all impurities and meets the requirements of the SAE specification AMS 1526.
