Description

The present invention relates to cleaning agents for removing heavy contaminants from outdoor vehicle surfaces containing amine oxides and polypeptides.

On the outer surfaces of means of transport, such as cars, trucks, trains, trams and in particular aircraft, there are regularly strong, difficult to remove soils. Such contamination is particularly intolerable on the outer skin of aircraft.

Aircraft Exterior Cleaners are not only for cleaning dirty aircraft, but are also essential for the economical operation of aircraft. Airplane aluminum surfaces are permanently contaminated with aviation gasoline, carbon fumes and lubricants during flight operations. Due to the dirt, the surface roughness increases, so that the necessary for the buoyancy air flow is slightly turbulent. As a result, more driving force and thus more fuel is needed to keep the aircraft at the desired cruising speed. Impurities can also cause corrosion of the aluminum components, which can lead to a significant impairment of flight safety.

Aircraft exterior cleaners must meet a large number of requirements. According to the SAE Specification AMS (Aerospace Material Standards) 1526 (Cleaner for aircraft exterior surfaces, water-miscible, pressure-spraying type) corrosion effect, hydrogen embrittlement, material compatibility and the stability of the cleaning agent are examined.

In the prior art aircraft exterior cleaners are known which aqueous solutions of surfactants, organic solvents and inorganic substances are. The inorganic ingredients promote the abrasion of dirt particles. However, these water-insoluble ingredients often cause a matte film on the aircraft surface if the cleaner is not subsequently rinsed completely with clean water. The organic solvents are very harmful to aquatic organisms when disposing of the cleaners. In addition, they cause unpleasant odors and promote the risk of ignition due to their low vapor pressure.

In the prior art aircraft cleaners have been formulated mostly with poorly degradable and environmentally hazardous corrosion inhibitors, such as sodium nitrate, sodium nitrite or thiourea.

US 3,458,300 discloses a cleaner containing alumina particles intended to abrade soil from aircraft surfaces. Antistatic surfactants prevent the redeposition of dirt particles on the outer skin.

US 3 491 027 discloses a cleaning solution used on aircraft operating predominantly near the sea. The agent is suitable for removing salt deposits from aircraft surfaces.

Es wird eine Methode zur Beurteilung der reinigenden Wirkung beschrieben.U.S. 3,948,819 discloses the synergistic effect obtained by the choice of two nonionic surfactants as soil release agents. A method for evaluating the cleaning effect is described.

US-5 496 413 offenbart die Verbindung reinigender und wachsender Komponenten in einem einzigen Reiniger.US-5 496 413 discloses the combination of cleansing and growing components in a single cleaner.

US 5,516,459 discloses the use of alkylamine oxides in thickened aircraft exterior cleaners, however, the pH of the cleaners is well within the alkaline range and requires environmentally harmful alkali metal nitrites for corrosion inhibition.

US-5 992 669 offenbart einen Reiniger für harte Oberflächen, welcher eine wässrige Lösung mit 40 bis 50 % einer nichtionischen Tensidmischung aus einem Alkoholethoxylat und einem C8- bis C15-Alkyldimethylaminoxid im Gewichtsverhältnis von (5 bis 15) : 1 und 50 bis 60 % eines stickstoffhaltigen Builders enthält.U.S. 5,992,669 discloses a hard surface cleaner comprising an aqueous solution comprising 40 to 50% of a nonionic surfactant mixture of an alcohol ethoxylate and a C 8 to C 15 alkyldimethylamine oxide in a weight ratio of (5 to 15): 1 and 50 to Contains 60% of a nitrogen-containing builder.

US-5 443 651 offenbart einen Reiniger für Eisenmetalloberflächen, der Aminosäuren wie Polyaspartamsäure oder Aspartamsäure/Glutaminsäure-Copolymere bei höchstens pH 7 enthält.U.S. 5,443,651 discloses a ferrous metal surface cleaner containing amino acids such as polyaspartic acid or aspartic acid / glutamic acid copolymers at most pH 7.

US 5,880,078 discloses that the desired soil release behavior can be achieved by a combination of ethoxylated fatty alcohols of different HLB values.

It is clear from the prior art that the development of aircraft exterior cleaners has hitherto concentrated almost exclusively on improving the cleaning effect. So far, little has been done to formulate aircraft exterior cleaners simultaneously with more environmentally benign corrosion inhibitors.

The object of the invention was therefore to develop an aircraft exterior cleaner, which not only effectively removes dirt but additionally contains environmentally friendly corrosion inhibitors. In addition, the cleaner should be free from solvents and other substances that can cause unpleasant odors due to their low vapor pressure, are easily flammable and beyond health can be. The cleaner should be suitable for other means of transport except for aircraft.

Surprisingly, it has now been found that detergents based on tertiary amine oxides and polypeptides have a particularly good activity as corrosion inhibitors.

Component a) may also be a mixture of the abovementioned amine oxides.

Component b) is an alkali metal salt of polyaspartic acid or polyglutamic acid having a molecular weight of preferably 7,000 g / mol to 20,000 g / mol, or a mixture of both substances. These are readily degradable, non-toxic and water-soluble biopolymers, in particular polypeptides. So far, these compounds are mainly used as a dispersant in cooling water and for the removal of limescale. It has been shown that these substances are just as well suited as a corrosion inhibitor for use in aircraft exterior cleaners.
In addition, defoamers, dyes, complexing agents and antioxidants may be included in the cleaners.

The pH of aircraft exterior cleaners should generally be 6.5 to 11, preferably 9 to 10. For this purpose suitable basic compounds are those from the group of alkali metal hydroxides, such as NaOH and KOH.

The preparation of the composition of the invention is carried out by mixing the individual components in any order, which can be carried out for example in a container equipped with a stirrer.

The resulting formulations show excellent soil release power. Light dirt can be easily removed with a dilution cleaner: water = 1:15. For stubborn dirt, a dilution of 1: 5 is recommended.

Die Erfindung wird nun durch Beispiele erläutert. The invention will now be illustrated by examples.

BeispieleExamples

An assessment of the cleaning effect is carried out by soil release tests. For this purpose, a 2024-T3 aluminum sheet of size 5 x 2 cm and a thickness of 1 mm is used. The aluminum sheet is etched before the start of the experiment with a dilute sodium hydroxide solution and then with a dilute nitric acid solution. As a result, the surface is roughened, so that dirt particles can better settle on the sheet. The sheet is alternately provided with different impurities. These include plain bearing grease, vaseline and artificially generated aircraft dirt.

Anschließend wird der Schmutz 12 Stunden lang bei 100°C in einem Trockenschrank in das Aluminiumblech eingebrannt.100 g of this artificial aircraft dirt consist of 1 g of lanolin, 20 g of activated carbon, 10 g of talc, 15 g of lubricating oil and 54 g of kerosene. The components are intimately mixed and applied to the aluminum sheet in a thin film. The dirt is then baked for 12 hours at 100 ° C in a drying oven in the aluminum sheet.

To assess the soil release force, the aluminum sheet provided with plain bearing grease, vaseline or artificial aircraft soil is immersed in a solution of 100 ml of detergent. The solution is in a beaker in which a magnetic stirrer rotates at 500 revolutions per minute. After regular intervals, an assessment of the detached dirt components is carried out.

Beispiel 1example 1

Es wird ein erfindungsgemäßes Flugzeugreinigungsmittel durch Mischen der folgenden Komponenten hergestellt (Konzentrat): 15,00 Gew.-% C12/C14-Alkyldimethylaminoxid 0,20 Gew.-% Alkalimetall-Polyaspartat mit 15.000 g/mol 0,45 Gew.-% Natronlauge 84,35 Gew.-% Wasser. An aircraft cleaning agent according to the invention is prepared by mixing the following components (concentrate): 15.00% by weight C 12 / C 14 alkyldimethylamine oxide 0.20% by weight Alkali metal polyaspartate at 15,000 g / mol 0.45% by weight caustic soda 84.35% by weight Water.

The soil release power of this cleaning agent is investigated by the method described above. Already within a few minutes, the contaminants plain bearing grease, vaseline and artificially generated aircraft dirt are completely removed from the aluminum plates both from the concentrate and from the 1: 1 and 1: 2 dilutions with water.

Further investigations of the aircraft cleaning agent described in Example 1 show that all further requirements of the SAE specification AMS 1526 are met. The product does not cause corrosion on aluminum, magnesium and steel alloys and does not affect acrylic glass, painted or unpainted aircraft surfaces.

Beispiel 2Example 2

Es wird ein erfindungsgemäßes Flugzeugreinigungsmittel durch Mischen der folgenden Komponenten hergestellt (Konzentrat): 25,00 Gew.-% Lauryldimethylaminoxid 0,20 Gew.-% Alkalimetall-Polyglutamat mit 35.000 g/mol 0,40 Gew.-% Kalilauge 74,4 Gew.-% Wasser. An aircraft cleaning agent according to the invention is prepared by mixing the following components (concentrate): 25.00% by weight lauryl dimethyl 0.20% by weight Alkali metal polyglutamate at 35,000 g / mol 0.40% by weight potassium hydroxide 74.4% by weight Water.

This cleaning agent also removes all impurities and meets the requirements of the SAE specification AMS 1526.

Beispiel 3Example 3

Es wird ein erfindungsgemäßes Flugzeugreinigungsmittel durch Mischen der folgenden Komponenten hergestellt (Konzentrat): 20,00 Gew.-% Cocosalkyldimethylaminoxid 0,20 Gew.-% Alkalimetall-Polyaspartat mit 10.000 g/mol 0,35 Gew.-% Natronlauge 79,45 Gew.-% Wasser. An aircraft cleaning agent according to the invention is prepared by mixing the following components (concentrate): 20.00% by weight Cocosalkyldimethylaminoxid 0.20% by weight Alkali metal polyaspartate at 10,000 g / mol 0.35% by weight caustic soda 79.45% by weight Water.

This cleaning agent also removes all impurities and meets the requirements of the SAE specification AMS 1526.
