Definitions
- the invention relates to self-locking, self-adjusting containers and in particular containers. However, it can be used in the same way for all containers, regardless of their size and shape, on the outer walls of which hollow bodies are provided for receiving locking devices. The invention will be explained in more detail below using the example of a container.
- the containers are parked at the place of loading, loaded there, then loaded onto a vehicle (road or rail vehicle), possibly brought to a port or airport, loaded onto a ship or an aircraft there, then locked for safe transport with other containers and moored (strapped), loaded onto a vehicle at the point of arrival, brought to the destination and unloaded there.
- Containers have hollow bodies at their upper and lower corner areas, which have oval openings on their outward-facing sides. Locking devices of delivery devices (container spreaders) or over-height harnesses can be inserted into these oval openings, these locking devices having end regions (twistlocks), the dimensions of which are smaller than the oval openings in the hollow bodies. As soon as the twistlocks are inserted into the hollow body, they are mechanically twisted so that the container with the container spreader or the oversized harness is locked and can be transported. When lifting, the top of the twistlock comes into contact with the underside of the ceiling wall of the hollow body.
- the solution to the problem according to claim 1 is that means, for example guide rails, are attached to the outer sides of the containers, which engage in corresponding guide rails of adjacent containers and, because containers are set down from above, cause the respective guide rails to mesh and bring about a horizontal lock.
- a major advantage of the invention is that the manual locking and lashing that has been customary up to now is eliminated, and the risk of injury to workers working in the port or on the ship is thus minimized. In addition, this saves a considerable amount of personnel, time and therefore costs.
- the means for example the guide strips, can be U-shaped, hook-shaped or curved. Any form is conceivable that enables the means of adjacent containers to interlock.
- the guide strips of the respective containers have play in relation to one another, so that they can adjust themselves in relation to one another. This makes maneuvering easier for the crane driver because he no longer has to do the exact positioning of the containers from each other from his cab over the distance, but instead the means on the outside of the containers help him to do so.
- the invention will be explained below with the aid of a few exemplary embodiments, the subject matter of the invention being in no way restricted to these exemplary embodiments. Show it
- FIG. 1 is an external locking device in a perspective view.
- FIG. 3 shows an external locking device with chamfered corners in viewing direction A.
- FIG. 1 shows a section of several containers C1, C2, C3 and C4 arranged one behind the other and next to one another, with container corners 2 which have locking housings 21, so-called corner castings, with oval openings 211 at their upper and lower end regions.
- the containers are locked together by external locking devices (24).
- these outer locking devices (24) are U-shaped and opened in the interior, so that the outer locking device (24) of an adjacent container can be carried out completely by the locking device.
- the transport and depositing process always takes place from top to bottom, so that when one container is parked in its position, the next container is positioned from above next to the first container.
- the outer locking device of the second container can engage in the locking device of the first container, so that not only does locking take place, but the second container can also be guided and thus placed exactly in place. If several containers are transported one below the other and if they are to be brought next to several already stacked containers, the outer locking device Direction of the lowest container in transport is inserted into the outer locking device of the uppermost stacked container and passed through, in order to be then inserted into the outer locking device of the next stacked container, etc. This also enables a space-saving and precise arrangement of the containers.
- the outer locking devices can be attached to the side parts of the containers. As shown in FIG. 1, they are advantageously attached to the container corners.
- FIG. 2 shows a perspective view of an outer locking device (24) fastened to a container corner 2 or integrally connected to it.
- the locking device 24 is positioned on the container corner 2 so that access to the oval openings of the corner casting is not hindered. The same applies to the corner casting at the lower end region of the container corner, not shown in FIG. 2.
- FIG. 3 from the viewing direction A indicated in FIG. 2, an outer locking device 24 with corners chamfered from the outside inward can be seen.
- the outer locking device consists of a long leg 241, a cross leg 242 and a short leg 243. All three legs are sloping in the area of their upper end from the outside inwards.
- the short leg 243 can additionally be chamfered in the area of its partial surface 243 'in order to facilitate the introduction of the outer locking device 24' 'of the further container.
- FIG. 4 shows an external locking device 24 from the perspective according to FIG. 3, in which the external locking device 24 ′′ of another container would like to engage. From this perspective, only the outer wall of the cross leg 242 '' to see. The hidden legs 241 ′′ and 243 ′′ are therefore shown in dashed lines. It can be seen that the short leg 243 ′′ has in the region of its lower end both a slope a falling from the outside inwards and a slope b falling from the inside out. This makes it easier for the short leg 243 ′′ to slide into the interior of the outer locking device 24, which is delimited by the inner sides of the legs 241, 242 and 243.
- the width of the short leg 243 ′′ is less than the width of the inner wall of the cross leg 242.
- the short leg 243 ′′ therefore has play when sliding into the outer laying device 24. Due to the fact that the upper areas of the legs 241, 242 and 243 are sloping downwards from the outside inwards and that the lower end of the short leg 243 '' is also beveled, there is also enough space for the outer locking device 24 '' in the rough transport business to slide into the outer locking device 24.
- the outer locking devices are made of hardened steel, for example V2A steel, there is no need to worry that they will be damaged when the containers are transported or when they are set down or maneuvered. This applies in particular if they are formed in one piece with the container corners.
