Abstract
Description
The invention initially relates to a method for operating an internal combustion engine, wherein the fuel from a first fuel pump to a second fuel pump and is promoted by this in a high-pressure area of the fuel via at least one fuel injection device in at least one combustion chamber of Internal combustion engine passes, and in which in certain Operating conditions of the internal combustion engine, the pressure in High pressure area by a relief device is lowered.
Such a method is known from DE 195 39 883 A1. There is after switching off the internal combustion engine Pressure equalization between the pressure side of the second Fuel pump and a fuel tank or the Ambient pressure produced. This is done by a Fuel line in which a valve is arranged, whose energized switching position as a pressure control valve and its de-energized switching position designed as a flow restrictor is. Also known are systems in which only one Flow restrictor is present.
By this measure is effectively avoided that switching off the engine fuel over the Fuel injectors into the combustion chambers of Internal combustion engine passes. This unburned fuel would be increased when starting the engine Emissions result.
The relief device has other advantages: Zum One will prevent it during a push operation of the internal combustion engine, in which of the fuel injectors no fuel in the combustion chamber of the Internal combustion engine arrives, or after stopping the Internal combustion engine by heat conduction from the engine block, which is the high-pressure fuel warmed to an impermissible pressure rise in the High pressure area comes. Also a pressure relief valve, which limits the pressure in the high pressure area can easier due to the provided discharge device be constructed. Furthermore, in the case of maintenance, the pressure on the print side can be easily broken down, so that if necessary, dismantle corresponding parts safely can be. At reduced pressure is also the Improved pressure dynamics.
In the operation of the internal combustion engine, however found that starting difficulties of Internal combustion engine and an impermissibly high pressure rise in the high pressure range, not always with the utmost security can be excluded.
DE 196 26 689 beschreibt die Verwendung eines Druck begrenzungsventils als Entlastungseinrichtung, mit Fehlererkennung durch Aufbau des Druckes und Überprüfen der Entlastungseinrichtung.DE 196 26 689 describes the use of a pressure relief valve as relief device, with error detection by design the pressure and checking the relief device.
The present invention therefore has the object, a Process of the type mentioned in the above way, that reliability in the operation of the internal combustion engine is increased.
This task is used in a method of the beginning mentioned type achieved in that the function of Relief device is monitored reliably.
Monitoring the function of the relief device allows to recognize situations in which one Pressure reduction in the high pressure area by the Relief device not or not in the desired Way is possible. The recognition of a faulty However, relief device is a prerequisite for that the error can be corrected as soon as possible and / or that the engine is not in a way is operated, in which too high pressure in the High pressure area due to the malfunctioning Relief device the operation of the internal combustion engine impaired or damage to components of the Internal combustion engine causes.
Monitoring the function of the relief device thus enables an improvement in the reliability of Internal combustion engine.
Advantageous developments of the invention are in Subclaims specified.
In a first particularly preferred embodiment of the inventive method is proposed that the Gradient, with which the pressure in the high-pressure range in one certain operating condition of the internal combustion engine due the relief device decreases, is monitored. Of the The advantage of this development lies in the fact that the function of the relief device to be monitored can, without additional components are required. The pressure in the high pressure area is in fact anyway detects a pressure sensor. This is generally on a fuel rail ("rail") in the high pressure area arranged.
In this regard, it is suggested that the time within the pressure in the high pressure area in one certain operating condition of the internal combustion engine by one certain value decreases, is monitored. Alternatively to this It is possible that the pressure difference around which the pressure in the high pressure area within a given time in a certain operating condition of the internal combustion engine sinks, is monitored. Both courses are easy to realize.
However, it is also possible that the volume flow in the High pressure area, due to the effect of Relief device in a certain operating condition the internal combustion engine is present, is monitored. These Training offers itself in such operating conditions, in which the fuel injectors no Fuel in the combustion chambers of the internal combustion engine forward, but at the same time the pressure in High pressure range constant at a certain value should be kept. This happens because of that Amount of fuel passing through the discharge device flows out of the high pressure area, of the second Fuel pump is nachgefördert in the high pressure area. The volume flow delivered by the second fuel pump is thus a criterion for the function of Relief device.
This is again in a particularly preferred embodiment proposed the method of the invention that the Volume flow from the control of a quantity control valve is determined, with the flow rate of the second Fuel pump can be adjusted. The advantage of this Further development of the method according to the invention lies in that the determination of the volume flow is possible without that additional components are required. The corresponding internal combustion engine thus builds relatively inexpensive.
The aforementioned quantity control valve can the working space of second fuel pump during a delivery phase with the located upstream of the second fuel pump Connect area. During the opening hours of the Quantity control valve is thus the fuel of the second fuel pump is not in the high pressure area, but back to the upstream of the second Promoted fuel pump area. The amount of from the second fuel pump to the high pressure area nachgeförderten fuel can therefore from the Opening period of the quantity control valve during the Promotion phase of the second fuel pump can be determined. The opening duration, in turn, results from the Activation times of the quantity control valve.
Furthermore, it is proposed that in the case that the Gradient or the pressure difference or the volume flow less or the time is greater than a limit, a Error entry takes place in a fault memory and / or a Warning signal is generated. The error entry in the Error memory can, for example, during maintenance be read out and immediately provides an indication of the Malfunction of the discharge device. The error can Thus, the reliability of the Internal combustion engine benefits. The issue of a Warning signal informs the user about the malfunction, so that this is the malfunction of the discharge device take into account when using the internal combustion engine can. This also serves the reliability and safety in the Operation of the internal combustion engine.
It is also possible that if an error in the fault memory is entered, functions which the correct functioning of the relief device are instructed to be locked. To these functions includes, for example, the diagnosis of a shut-off valve, which is arranged in a leakage line, the of the second fuel pump returns to the fuel tank. The inventive measure prevents that this diagnosis leads to a wrong result.
The operating conditions of the internal combustion engine, in which the Relief device is monitored, include preferably a coasting state and / or a switched off operating condition of the internal combustion engine. in the Push mode is despite running second Fuel pump no fuel from the fuel injectors injected into the combustion chambers. Out The high-pressure area of the fuel can thus only on the Discharge relief device. The same applies to the switched-off operating state. Both operating states are therefore particularly well suited for monitoring the Relief device.
Particularly advantageous is that development of inventive method in which the height of the for the monitoring used limit from the operating state and / or at least one operating size of the Internal combustion engine depends. This can, for example be taken into account the fact that the viscosity of the fuel depends on its temperature. The Speed at which the fuel passes through the Discharge device flows out of the high-pressure region, is therefore also temperature-dependent.
In overrun operation, the pressure, which in the High pressure range prevails, from the speed of the Depend on internal combustion engine. This is related to that the second fuel pump is usually of the Camshaft of the internal combustion engine is driven. Though promotes the second fuel pump in overrun due a corresponding control of the quantity control valve no fuel or only a small amount of fuel in the high pressure area, which is pressure in the high pressure area but still higher than at a standstill second Fuel pump and depends on the speed of the second Fuel pump off.
The invention also relates to a computer program which suitable for carrying out the above method, if it runs on a computer. It will be special preferred if the computer program is stored on a memory especially on a flash memory or a ferrite RAM, is stored.
Furthermore, the invention relates to a control and / or Regulating device for operating an internal combustion engine. To the Operation of the internal combustion engine even safer and To make it more reliable, it is suggested that the Control and / or regulating device comprises a memory on which a computer program of the above type is stored.
Furthermore, the invention relates to a fuel system for an internal combustion engine, with a first fuel pump, with a second fuel pump, which inlet side with The first fuel pump is connected, and with one High pressure area, which with the outlet of the second Fuel pump is connected, the high pressure area comprises at least one fuel injection device, and with a relief device for lowering the Pressure in the high pressure range in certain operating conditions the internal combustion engine.
To operate the engine safely and reliably It is proposed that a tax and / or Regulating device is provided, which is the function of Relief device monitors.
In an advantageous embodiment, it is proposed that the Relief comprises a flow restrictor. A such works reliably and is inexpensive to manufacture.
It is also possible that the relief device a electrically operated valve comprises. With this it can For example, a simple electrical Shut off act, which opens normally. in the Normal operation of the internal combustion engine is thereby prevents fuel from the high pressure area flows out, whereas in certain operating conditions rapid pressure reduction from the high pressure area ensured is.
It is particularly preferred if the Relief device the high pressure area with a Fuel tank or with one between the first and the second fuel pump located area connects. A connection with the fuel tank leads to a Pressure reduction in the high pressure range in the particular Operating conditions of the internal combustion engine up to Ambient pressure. This causes the components in the High-pressure area effectively relieved.
A connection of the high pressure area with the between the first and second fuel pump located area enables the maintenance of pressure in the High pressure area, which corresponds to that pressure, which prevails between the first and second fuel pump. This is to avoid the formation of vapor bubbles as well in overrun and in the Abstellfalle the internal combustion engine at the normal operating pressure of the first fuel pump held. In this case, the components in the High-pressure area also effectively relieved, thereby but at the same time the vapor bubble formation in High pressure range suppressed and the starting behavior of Internal combustion engine improved.

In Figur 1 trägt ein Kraftstoffsystem insgesamt das
Bezugszeichen 10. Es dient zur Versorgung einer
Brennkraftmaschine 12 mit Kraftstoff. Das Kraftstoffsystem
10 umfasst einen Kraftstoffbehälter 14, aus dem eine
elektrische Kraftstoffpumpe 16 fördert. Der Druck
stromabwärts von der elektrischen Kraftstoffpumpe 16 wird
von einem Druckregler 18 eingestellt. Er beträgt
üblicherweise ungefähr 6 bar.In Figure 1, a fuel system carries the
Von der elektrischen Kraftstoffpumpe 16 gelangt der
Kraftstoff über einen Filter 20 zu einer Hochdruck-Kraftstoffpumpe
From the
Die Hochdruck-Kraftstoffpumpe 22 fördert in eine
Kraftstoff-Sammelleitung 36, welche gemeinhin auch als
"rail" bezeichnet wird. An diese sind mehrere Kraftstoff-Einspritzvorrichtungen
38 angeschlossen. Diese spritzen den
Kraftstoff in entsprechende Brennräume 40 ein. Der Druck in
der Kraftstoff-Sammelleitung 36 wird durch ein
Druckbegrenzungsventil 42 auf einen maximalen Wert
begrenzt. Vom Druckbegrenzungsventil 42 führt eine
Kraftstoffleitung 44 zu dem zwischen dem Rückschlagventil
26 und der elektrischen Kraftstoffpumpe 16 gelegenen
Bereich. Eine weitere Kraftstoffleitung 46 führt von der
Kraftstoff-Sammelleitung 36 zur Kraftstoffleitung 44. In

Hochdruckbereich 56 bezeichnet. In normal operation of the
If the
Hierzu sind die Strömungsdrossel 48 und die
Kraftstoffleitung 46 vorgesehen.
In
Umgebungsdruck absinken.For this purpose, the
Der Durchmesser der Strömungsdrossel 48 ist so gewählt,
dass im Abstellfalle der Brennkraftmaschine 12 der Druck
aus dem Hochdruckbereich 56 möglichst schnell abgelassen
werden kann. Gleichzeitig muss jedoch sichergestellt sein,
dass im normalen Betrieb der Brennkraftmaschine 12 der
Druck im Hochdruckbereich 56 problemlos auf dem gewünschten
hohen Niveau gehalten werden kann. Ein typischer Wert für
den Durchmesser der Strömungsdrossel 48 liegt im Bereich
von 0,1 mm. In einem nicht dargestellten
Ausführungsbeispiel ist an Stelle der Strömungsdrossel ein
elektrisches Schaltventil vorhanden. Dieses sperrt
normalerweise die Verbindungsleitung zum
Niederdruckbereich. Im Abstellfall ist es stromlos offen. The diameter of the
gelangt. Hierdurch wird das Emissionsverhalten der
Brennkraftmaschine beim Wiederanlassen verschlechtert.

gemessen. Dies erfolgt über den Drucksensor 50. Die Messung
erfolgt in vorgegebenen zeitlichen Abständen. Aus den
einzelnen Messwerten wird im Block 62 ein Druckgradient
berechnet.
somit in Ordnung (Block 66).

In contrast, it is determined in
In Figur 5 ist ein zweites Ausführungsbeispiel eines
Verfahrens zur Überwachung der Strömungsdrossel 48
dargestellt. In diesem und in den nachfolgenden
Ausführungsbeispielen tragen solche Blöcke, welche
äquivalente Funktionen zu in Figur 4 dargestellten Blöcken
aufweisen, die gleichen Bezugszeichen. Sie sind nicht
nochmals im Detail erläutert.FIG. 5 shows a second exemplary embodiment of a
Method for monitoring the
In the method shown in Figure 5 is not

In the embodiment shown in Figure 6 is

gehalten werden soll.FIG. 7 shows a method in which the
Function of the
Da in
bzw. Öffnungszeiten des Mengensteuerventils 30 geschlossen
werden.Such a method offers e.g. then, if the
12 ab.In the method shown in Figure 7 therefore
