Claims (8)

  1. Indication device comprising a carrier member (10), which is planar at least in portions and which has at least one opening (12) for generating a text image, a graphic representation or a row of characters, said member being connected by a planar side thereof to a planar lighting unit (14) based on electro-luminescence or luminous polymer or by means of illuminated acrylic glass to form back-lighting, characterised in that the opening (12) is filled with a filling material, permeable at least in part to the light from the lighting unit, in the form of a casting resin solidified after filling, a transparent, patterned and/or coloured decorative and protective film (20) being provided in a transition region between the filling material and the lighting unit (14) and being formed so as to close the end face of the opening (12) during the filling.
  2. Device according to claim 1, characterised in that the decorative and protective film (20) is formed so as to be removable before mounting the carrier member (10) on the flat lighting unit (14) and after solidification of the filling material.
  3. Device according to either claim 1 or claim 2, characterised in that the decorative and protective film is formed in a plurality of layers and comprises a decorative or patterned layer.
  4. Device according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the filling material is inserted into the opening in such a way that on a side of the carrier member opposite the lighting unit, said material protrudes over an edge of the opening, terminates flush with the edge or has a filling level below the edge.
  5. Device according to claim 4, characterised in that the filling material has an optical lens effect (22).
  6. Device according to any one of claims 1 to 5, characterised in that the filling material has a colouring and/or can be configured with various degrees of resilience or hardness.
  7. Indication device according to any one of claims 1 to 6, characterised in that the pattern is produced by a illuminating surface portion of the lighting unit which portion produces a lighting effect in the planar lighting unit.
  8. Use of the indication device according to any one of claims 1 to 7, on or in a motor vehicle, in building services, in particular for providing stair lighting, on or in sports equipment or for information signs.
