Description

The invention relates to a printed and shaped document, said "insert" and a method of manufacturing such documents.

In the field of printing, especially dedicated to advertising, it is known to produce documents called "inserts" or "leaflets" intended to be inserts in magazines or deposited inside food packaging , especially for promotional operations. Such inserts can also be used in the industrial field as technical information carriers intended to be joined to an apparatus or a product.

The known inserts can be made with low weight paper to be compatible with continuous production processes involving, inter alia, rotary printing machines. These low weight inserts can have one or more pages. In the case where they consist of a single sheet, they have a sometimes insufficient rigidity immediately perceptible by the reader of a magazine or the recipient of a promotion. In addition, they are relatively difficult to manipulate automatically for insertion in a magazine or food packaging.

US-A-5,876,784 shows a leaflet according to the preamble of claim 1.

Inserts made from paper of higher grammage could be envisaged but must be made with machines called "sheet", which implies longer lead times, while the basic price of paper used is more Student.

It is these drawbacks that the invention intends to remedy more particularly by proposing a new insert having a stiffness equivalent to the inserts made in papers with a heavy weight, for example greater than 200 g / m 2 , and which can be produced on a chain of continuous printing and shaping, while it is effectively protected against moisture and / or chemical aggression.

In this spirit, the invention relates to a printed and shaped document, said "insert" or "leaflet", comprising a single sheet, this sheet is printed continuously only on a first side which is coated with a protective film, while its second face, opposite to the first, is coated at least partially with a permanent adhesive, the sheet being folded along a fold line, so that its second face is folded back on itself and that its first face, printed and protected, constitute the two opposite sides of the document.

Thanks to the invention, the insert or leaflet has the same properties as if it were made from a heavy weight paper, that is to say, increased rigidity facilitating its grip, a "cardboard" appearance and improved aesthetics through lamination, so that it is particularly suitable for making advertising inserts for luxury goods, such as perfumes and cosmetics. Thanks to the fact that it includes a folded leaflet on itself, the insert can be made from paper relatively low grammage, because its rigidity is increased by the superposition of the two parts of the sheet, so that it is compatible with continuous production, resulting in an optimized manufacturing cost and a significant reduction in the time it takes to make the document available to its end-user, this delay being particularly important when it comes to launching a promotional campaign.

According to a first embodiment of the invention, the second face is completely folded on itself, no part of it being accessible. According to one variant embodiment, the second face is partially folded on itself, a flap of the sheet, the second face is exposed, extending a main portion of the sheet whose second side is glued on itself. This flap allows stapling the insert in a magazine.

According to another advantageous aspect of the invention, the protective film is made of a material compatible with its use in the food industry, in particular polypropylene, which makes it possible to envisage the insertion of the document into a package of a product. food respecting the standards in force and preserving the information printed on the insert of the ambient humidity which may result from the nature of the food products but also from condensation resulting from their storage mode.

  • a) imprimer en continu sur une machine rotative des informations sur une première face d'une bande continue en mouvement ;
  • b) revêtir cette première face d'un film protecteur ;
  • c) enduire au moins une partie d'une seconde face de la bande, opposée à la première, d'un matériau adhésif permanent ;
The invention also relates to a method for producing documents such as that described above, and more specifically to a method for producing documents from a single sheet, this process comprising the steps of:
  • a) continuously printing on a rotary machine information on a first face of a moving web in motion;
  • b) coating this first face with a protective film;
  • c) coating at least a portion of a second face of the strip, opposite the first, of a permanent adhesive material;
  • d) folding the strip along a folding line parallel to the direction of advance of the strip, bringing the second face into recovery of itself and
  • e) cutting the strip, at least along cutting lines generally perpendicular to the direction of advance, to form the aforementioned documents.

According to variants of the method, steps b) c) can be simultaneous or almost simultaneous or step b) can be before or after step c).

According to another advantageous aspect of the invention, during step c), the strip is coated on substantially half of its width.

According to another advantageous aspect of the invention, during an additional step or during step e), the strip is cut in the vicinity of the fold line and along a cutting line generally parallel to the direction of advance. , in order to separate the fold line from the finalized documents. This allows to evacuate a part of the insert in which the film coating could be imperfectly plated on the printed tape.

The cutting lines advantageously have a geometry defined according to one or more patterns printed on the aforementioned first face.

  • la figure 1 est une représentation schématique de principe d'une installation de mise en oeuvre d'un procédé conforme à l'invention ;
  • la figure 2 est une vue en perspective d'un insert selon un premier mode de réalisation de l'invention ;
  • la figure 3 est une vue à plus grande échelle du détail III à la figure 2 ;
The invention will be better understood and other advantages thereof will appear more clearly in the light of the following description of a manufacturing method and documents according to the invention obtained by this method, given only to by way of example and with reference to the appended drawings in which:
  • the figure 1 is a schematic representation of a principle of an installation for implementing a method according to the invention;
  • the figure 2 is a perspective view of an insert according to a first embodiment of the invention;
  • the figure 3 is a larger-scale view of detail III to the figure 2 ;
  • the figure 4 is a view similar to the figure 2 for a document according to a second embodiment of the invention and
  • the figure 5 is a view similar to the figure 2 for a document according to a third embodiment of the invention.

The production of shaped and film-coated inserts is carried out in the installation shown in FIG. figure 1 from a strip 1 of paper weight between 100 and 200 g / m 2 , this strip being originally wound on a spool 2.

In a first step of the manufacturing method according to the invention, the band 1 passes through a rotary printing machine 10 comprising roller groups 11 in number corresponding to the number of colors to be applied. The machine 10 is used to affix M units only on the top face 1a of the belt 1. Alternatively, multiple prints of machines can be arranged one behind the other in the path of the strip 1, each machine is dedicated to a print color.

The strip 1 then progresses, in the direction of the arrows F 1 , to a laminating and sizing machine 20 in which a polypropylene film 3, previously coated with a suitable adhesive, is unwound from a reel. 21 and applied to the face 1a of the strip 1 with two pressure rollers 22 and 23.

As a variant, the film 3 may not be previously coated with adhesive and may be fixed on the strip 1 by virtue of an adhesive applied in the machine 20, in particular a "hot melt" type glue which has the advantage of have a quick grip without the risk of bubbles forming.

The width 26 of the vessel 26 or that of the roller 25 is such that the adhesive layer 27 deposited on the lower face 1b of the strip 1 has a width l 27 substantially equal to half the width l 1 of the In other words, the adhesive layer 27 is affixed to substantially half the width of the strip 1.

According to a not shown variant of the invention, the steps of application of the film 3 and sizing of the face 1b , which are here almost simultaneous, can be shifted in time, the application of the film can be earlier or after sizing, these two operations being performed in separate parts of the installation.

After passing through the machine 20, the laminated and glued strip 1 is conveyed, following the direction of the arrows F 1 , to a machine 30 where the face 1b is folded on itself along a line of folding 1 c located substantially in the middle of the width of the strip 1, so that the glued portion and the unsized portion of the face 1 b are firmly pressed against each other. Thus, out of the machine 30, the two visible sides of the strip 1 are formed by two parts of his face 1a which is printed and coated with the film 3, that is to say laminated.

The strip 1 is then conveyed to a cutting machine 40 where the strip 1 is cut at least in a direction perpendicular to the direction of the arrows F 1 , so that the inserts I are formed by cutting before being poured into a tray 41. The cutting of the inserts I can take place by any known technique, in particular by means of cutting rollers.

In the embodiment of the invention shown in Figures 2 and 3 a first insert I is formed and 101 and 102 its longitudinal edges are noted, the edge 101 corresponding to the fold line 1 c in which is folded the band 1 to form the insert I. It is also noted 103 and 104 cross-edges of the insert I. A biscuit-shaped M is affixed to both sides of the insert I which can be used as an advertising object.

To the figure 3 the thicknesses shown are not necessarily in proportion to the thicknesses of a real insert; for example, the adhesive layer 27 is actually much thinner than the strip 1.

In the region of the edge 101, the film 3 is stretched around the band 1 which is folded back on itself. In order not to diminish the aesthetic qualities of the insert I due to any localized folds or deformation of the film 3 in this area, it is possible to cut the insert I according to a plane P 1 making it possible to separate the fold line 1c of the rest of the insert I. This cutting operation can be performed in the machine 40 and takes place in a direction generally parallel to the direction of advance F 1 .

Alternatively, the cutting operations in the transverse direction, that is to say the shaping of the edges 103 and 104, can be performed in a first machine, the longitudinal cutting operation, that is to say according to the edge 101, and possibly the edge 102, can be performed in a second machine.

In the second embodiment of an insert I according to the invention shown in FIG. figure 4 , all the edges 101, 102, 103 and 104 of the insert have been cut with a non-rectilinear shape reproducing the edges of the biscuit of a pattern M, which allows to give the insert thus produced a more realistic appearance.

In the third embodiment of the invention shown in figure 5 , the band 1 has been folded over a part of itself so that a part 1 b 'of the surface 1 b remains accessible at a flap 1 d of simple thickness, the rest of the insert I being double thickness and corresponding to the part of the surface 1b which is folded and glued on itself.

A.The edges 101, 103 and 104 of this insert could be cut in the manner explained for the second embodiment. The shutter 1d makes it possible to consider the insertion of the insert I in a magazine, a part of the shutter 1 being superimposed on the broaching line AA 'of the magazine, which allows to immobilize the insert I versus other leaflets with one or more staples A.

The pattern M affixed to the printed face of the sheet is not limited to the example shown and may have any shape or color, depending on the intended use of the insert or leaflet.

Claims (10)

  1. Printed and fashioned document known as an "insert" or "leaflet" comprising a single leaf continuously printed on just one first face (1a), characterized in that the said first face is covered with a protective film (3) whereas its second face (1b) on the opposite side to the first, is at least partially coated with a permanent adhesive (27), the said leaf being folded along a fold line (1c), such that the said second face is folded onto itself and such that the printed and protected first face constitutes the two opposite sides of the said document (I).
  2. Document according to Claim 1, characterized in that the said second face (1b) is completely folded over onto itself, no part thereof being accessible.
  3. Document according to Claim 1, characterized in that the said second face (1b) is partially folded onto itself, a flap (1d) of the leaf of which the second face (1b') is exposed extending a main part of the leaf of which the second face (1b) is stuck to itself.
  4. Document according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the said protective film (3) is made of a material compatible with its use in an agrifoodstuffs environment, and in particular is made of polypropylene.
  5. Method of manufacturing printed and fashioned documents known as "inserts" or "leaflets" from a single sheet, comprising steps consisting in:
    - a) continuously printing on a rotary press (10), information on a first face (1a) of a continuous web (1) in motion (F1);
    - b) covering (at 20) the said first face (1a) of a protective film (3);
    - c) coating (at 20) at least part of a second face (1b) of the said web, on the opposite side to the first, with a permanent adhesive material (27);
    - d) folding (at 30) the said web (1) along a fold line (1c) parallel to the direction of travel (F1) of the web, bringing the said second face (1b) to overlap itself, and
    - e) cutting (at 40) the web, at least along cutting lines (103, 104) generally perpendicular to the said direction of travel (F1) in order to form the said documents (I).
  6. Method according to Claim 5, characterized in that steps b) and c) are simultaneous or near-simultaneous.
  7. Method according to Claim 5, characterized in that step b) precedes or follows step c).
  8. Method according to one of Claims 5 to 7, characterized in that, in step c), the web (1) is coated over substantially half (l27) its width (l1).
