In the installed position, the tongues can be interconnected by at least one screw or bolt. The device also includes a mechanism for limiting a screw-in extent of the screws such that a compression of the elastic material of the sealing surfaces is effected in a defined manner when the screws are tightened.

Description

The invention relates to a device of the type mentioned in the preamble of claim 1 for the electrically conductive contact of a stripped outer conductor of a coaxial cable.

A device of the type in question is known from EP 0 744 788 A1, which has a base body designed as a clamp that can be tensioned around the cable to be contacted, which is designed to be open in the circumferential direction and has angled tabs at its ends, with sealing surfaces on their surfaces facing one another in the assembly position are made of elastic material, wherein the tabs can be connected to each other in the mounting position of the device by means of screws. In the known device, the base body has a band-shaped metallic clamp which is embedded in elastic material, a contact surface for a contact element for contacting the stripped region of the coaxial cable being left free on the side facing the body to be contacted in the assembly position.

A disadvantage of the known device is that when the device is mounted on the coaxial cable, the screws for tensioning the base body Excessive force are tightened, the elastic material of the sealing surfaces on the tabs is compressed excessively and not defined, so that there is a risk that the elastic material is damaged and the sealing surfaces thereby lose their sealing effect.

The invention has for its object to provide a device of the type mentioned in the preamble of claim 1, which does not have the disadvantage of the known device, in which the risk that the elastic material of the sealing surfaces is excessively compressed when tightening the screws is reduced ,

This object is achieved by the teaching specified in claim 1.

The basic idea of the teaching according to the invention is to provide means for limiting the screwing-in path of the screw in such a way that the elastic material of the sealing surfaces is compressed in a defined manner when the screw is tightened. In this way, the elastic material of the sealing surfaces is reliably prevented from being excessively compressed when the screw is tightened and possibly being damaged in the process. Rather, the compression of the elastic material takes place in a defined manner, the degree of compression being selectable in a simple manner by appropriately dimensioning the means for limiting the screw-in path and thus the maximum possible screw-in path.

Due to the means provided according to the invention for limiting the screwing-in path, the installation of the device according to the invention is simplified and can therefore also be carried out easily by untrained personnel.

The device according to the invention is simple and thus inexpensive to manufacture and robust in construction.

The means for limiting the screw-in path can be designed in any suitable manner according to the respective requirements, for example in that the thread of the screw ends at an axial distance from its head, so that the screw-in path is limited by the length of the thread.

An extremely advantageous development of the basic idea of the teaching according to the invention provides that the means for limiting the screwing-in path are formed by a stop. This embodiment enables the screw-in path to be limited in a particularly simple manner.

According to the respective requirements, the stop can be arranged on the screw, in particular molded onto the screw, or the stop can be arranged on one of the tabs, in particular molded onto one of the tabs. In the embodiments in which the stop is integrally formed on the screw or on one of the tabs, an additional component is not required to form the stop, so that the structure of the device according to the invention is further simplified and less expensive.

A further development of the embodiment with the stop molded onto one of the tabs provides that the stop is formed by at least one projection which extends in the axial direction of the screw and which is arranged on the side of a tab facing the head of the screw in the mounting position, such that the head the screw comes to rest on the projection at the end of the screw-in path. In this embodiment, the projection can be formed, for example, by at least one nose or the like formed on the tab.

Another development of the teaching according to the invention provides that the stop is formed by a disk or sleeve surrounding the shaft of the screw, which is arranged in the assembly position between the head of the screw and the facing tab. This embodiment has the advantage that standard components can be used both for the screw and for the washer forming the stop, so that the device according to the invention is also designed to be particularly simple and therefore inexpensive to manufacture in this embodiment.

The screw expediently extends in the assembly position of the device through a through hole which is formed in one of the tabs and is screwed into a threaded hole which is formed in the other tab.

If the base body of the device according to the invention consists of thin sheet metal, for example, in order to increase the stability and to achieve a sufficient depth, in particular the threaded bore, it is expedient that the tabs have reinforcing elements, preferably made of metal, in which the bores are formed.

A further development of the embodiment in which the stop is molded onto the screw provides that the screw has a thread-free area between its head and its threaded end, the diameter of which is larger than the diameter of the thread, such that a Shoulder is formed, wherein the diameter of the through hole in the tab corresponds to the diameter of the screw in the region of the shoulder or is greater than this, such that the axial end face of the shoulder in the screw-in position on the surface of the other facing this tab Tab rests.

The base body 4 has a band-shaped metal part 10 and a part 12 made of elastic material, in the exemplary embodiment an elastomer, in which the metal part 10 is embedded with its axial edges and is thus connected to the part 12 made of elastic material (FIG. 4) , The metal part 10 extends in the circumferential direction into the tabs 6, 8 and is reinforced in this area for stabilization with plate-shaped reinforcing elements 5, 7 made of metal, which can be welded to the metal part 10, for example. In the tab 6 threaded holes 9, 11 and in the tab 8 through holes 13, 15 are formed, which in a manner explained in more detail below for receiving screws not shown in FIG. 1, by means of which the tabs 6, 8 can be connected to one another in the assembly position are.

From Fig. 1 is not apparent and is therefore explained here that the mutually facing surfaces of the tabs 6, 8 in the mounting position are provided with an elastic material, for example an elastomer, so that sealing surfaces are formed, the sealing in the mounting position of the device 2 together issue.

The part 12 made of elastic material forms sealing lips 14, 16 on the side facing a coaxial cable to be contacted in the mounting position and, in this exemplary embodiment, in the axial direction outside of the sealing lips 14, 16 further sealing lips 18, 20. In the mounting position, the base body 4 lies with the sealing lips 14, 16 and the further sealing lips 18, 20 sealingly on an outer surface of the body to be contacted, so that a space formed in the assembly position between the body to be contacted and the base body 4 is sealed against the ingress of air and / or moisture.

The device 2 also has a contact element (not shown in FIG. 1) for establishing an electrically conductive connection with the coaxial cable to be contacted, which in the assembly position on the side of the base body facing the coaxial cable to be contacted, in the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 1 on one radial inner surface 22 of the base body 4, which forms a holding surface, is held, for example by means of adhesive.

The device 2 also has adjustment aids for the contact element for adjusting the contact element in the manufacture of the device 2, which are formed in this embodiment by contact edges 28, 30, 32, which are formed on webs 34, 36, 38, which on the sealing lips 14, 16 of the part 12 are formed from elastic material.

The webs 34, 36 extend inward from the axial edge 26 of the base body 4 in the axial direction, while the web 38 extends inward in the axial direction from the opposite axial edge 26, the webs 34, 36 being arranged on a circumferential line 33 are and the web 38 is arranged on a circumferential line 35 axially offset from the circumferential line 33.

Fig. 2 zeigt eine Ansicht auf die radiale Innenfläche 22 der Einrichtung 2.2 shows a view of the radial inner surface 22 of the device 2.

Das Kontaktelement 40 ist durch Klebstoff mit der radialen Innenfläche 22 des Grundkörpers 4 verbunden und so an diesem gehalten.FIG. 3 shows the device 2 with a contact element 40 held thereon, which in this exemplary embodiment consists of electrically conductive graphite and is essentially rectangular in plan view. The contact element 40 is connected to the radial inner surface 22 of the base body 4 by adhesive and thus held thereon.

From Fig. 3 it can be seen that the contact element 40 is in the fastening position shown there with opposite regions of its edge on the contact edges 28, 30, 32 of the webs 34, 36, 38, the centering means for centering the contact element 40 between the opposite axial edges 24, 26 of the base body 4 form. The contact edges 28, 30, 32 ensure that the contact element 40 is held on the base body 4 in the desired position, in which its longitudinal sides run essentially parallel to the axial edges 24, 26 of the base body 4, and does not protrude laterally ,

18, 20 an dem in Radialrichtung zurückspringenden, abisolierten Außenleiter 44 anliegt und so eine elektrisch leitende Verbindung zu diesem herstellt.FIG. 4 shows a section along a line IV-IV in FIG. 3, the device 2 being shown in the assembly position in which the base body 4 with the sealing lips 14, 16 and the further sealing lips 18, 20 on a coaxial cable 42 to be contacted , is present. For contacting a stripped outer conductor 44 of the coaxial cable 42 in a contact area 46, the contact element 40 projects so far in the radial direction towards the coaxial cable 42 that it bears against a sheath 48 of the coaxial cable 42 Sealing lips 14, 16 and 18, 20 abut against the stripped outer conductor 44, which springs back in the radial direction and thus establishes an electrically conductive connection to the latter.

To fasten the device 2 to the coaxial cable 42, the coaxial cable is first stripped in an axial section and then the base body 4, which is designed as a clamp, is tensioned around the coaxial cable 42 to be contacted by means of screws 50, 52 made of metal, which pass through the tab 8 through holes 13, 15 extend and engage in the threaded holes 9, 11 formed in the tab 6.

When tensioning the base body 4, the sealing lips 14, 16 and the further sealing lips 18, 20 sealingly come into contact with the casing 48 of the coaxial cable 42, so that they protect the space formed in the assembly position between the coaxial cable 42 and the base body 4 against the ingress of air and / or seal moisture. In the circumferential direction of the base body 4, this space is sealed in that the sealing surfaces formed on the brackets 6, 8 come to bear against one another in a sealing manner, the elastic material of the sealing surfaces being compressed.

When tensioning the base body 4, the contact element 40 also comes into contact with the stripped outer conductor 44 of the coaxial cable 42, so that an electrically conductive connection between the outer conductor 44 and the metal part 10 of the base body 4 is established via the contact element 40. Since the metal part 10 extends into the tabs 6, 8, the Screws 50, 52 can be used to produce an electrically conductive connection to a conductor, for example an earthing cable 54, which is indicated schematically in FIG. 5. For this purpose, the grounding cable 54 can be connected to the screw 50 by means of a connection eyelet. An electrically conductive connection between the grounding cable 54 and the outer conductor 44 of the coaxial cable 42 is thus established in the desired manner, so that this outer conductor 44 is grounded.

In order to avoid excessive compression of the elastic material of the sealing surfaces when the screws 50, 52 are tightened, means for limiting the screwing-in path of the screws 50, 52 are provided according to the invention, which is explained in more detail below with reference to FIG. 6.

Aus Gründen der Veranschaulichung ist die Dicke der Verstärkungselemente 5, 7 überhöht dargestellt.6 shows a highly schematic radial section through the device 2 in the mounting position in the area of the screw 52, only the metal part 10, the reinforcing elements 5, 7 and the screw 52 being shown for the sake of simplicity, but the remaining parts of the device 2 have been omitted , For reasons of illustration, the thickness of the reinforcing elements 5, 7 is shown exaggerated.

As can be seen from FIG. 6, the screw 52 has an unthreaded region 60 in the axial direction between its head 56 and its threaded end 58, the diameter of which is larger than the diameter of the thread, in such a way that in the screwing direction at the front on the region 60 a shoulder 61 is formed. The screw 50, which cannot be seen in FIG. 6, is designed accordingly.

The diameter of the through hole 13 in the tab 8 for receiving the screw 52 is slightly larger than the diameter of the unthreaded area 60 of the Screw 52, while its threaded end 58 can be screwed into the threaded bore 9.

When the screw 52 is screwed into the threaded bore 9, the tabs 6, 8 are clamped to one another, the elastic material of the sealing surfaces designated by reference numerals 62, 64 in FIG. 6 being compressed. When a maximum screwing-in distance determined by the axial distance of the axial end face of the shoulder 61 from the free end of the screw 52 is reached, the end face of the shoulder 61 comes to rest on the side of the reinforcing element 7 of the tab 8 facing the tab 6 in the manner of a stop, so that a further screwing in of the screw 52 and thus a further compression of the elastic material 62, 64 of the sealing surfaces is prevented.

The screw-in path of the screw is limited by the stop, so that the degree of compression of the elastic material is also limited. Excessive compression is thus reliably prevented.

The degree of compression can be selected by the axial distance of the axial end face of the shoulder 61 from the free end 66 of the screw 52.

In this exemplary embodiment, the stop is formed by lugs 68, 70, which are punched out of the reinforcing element 5 and thus molded onto the tab 8. The lugs 68, 70 protrude axially over the reinforcing element in the direction of the head of a screw, not shown.

Deviating from Fig. The connection of the tabs 6, 8 takes place with only one screw, so that the tab only has a through hole 13. When screwing into the threaded bore 13, the screw, not shown, comes into contact with the nose 68, 70 when reaching a screw-in path predetermined by the axial length of the lugs 68, 70, so that the screw-in path and thus that Degree of compression of the elastic material of the sealing surfaces is limited.

Die Scheibe 72 kann fest mit dem Verstärkungselement 7 verbunden oder lose auf dieses aufgelegt sein.FIG. 8 shows a modification of the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 7, in which the stop is formed by a washer 72 which is coaxial with the screw (not shown). The disk 72 can be firmly connected to the reinforcing element 7 or can be placed loosely on the latter.
