Abstract
Description
- The invention propounded herein consists of a mast for packaging machines, such machines being used for wrapping loads, palletized or not, in film.
- This invention is characterized in a special construction of the tubular mast and in a variety of geometries and materials, which replaces the conventional internal reinforcements with an outer configuration comprising a very broad circular sector along its vertical edges.
- The masts of conventional semiautomatic wrapping machines are built in a smooth quadrangular tubular form, except for one of the faces which bears some side rails, for the vertical sliding of the conventional reduction gear motor, which serves to adjust the height of the carriage, depending on the requirements of each wrapping operation.
- These masts, which can even incorporate the electric operations cabinet, are all built with some internal reinforcements which assure their long term operation and avoid the collapse thereof due to the torque generated by the displaced load which they support. It is known from the State of the Art a mast for packing disclosed in CA 1069039 where are disclosed the improvements carried out in spiral wrap apparatus, being used for palletised loads of the kind having a rotatable platform where the load is received, and a roll of plastic film mounted adjacent thereto. The wrapping means used in this document are displaced upward and downward by means of a motor and a reduction gear, which remains fixed, as can be observed in figure 1. The object of the present invention is to improve the way of wrapping the plastic material around the load. The mast is provided with a rail placed between two reinforced vertical edges which serves to reinforce the bearing structure. The rail is the device along which the reduction gear motor is moved instead of remaining fixed.
- The invention object of the present specification relates to a mast for wrapping machines according to
claim 1, comprising auxiliary means of support and guidance of the reduction gear motor for positioning the carriage for the adequate packaging with stretchable film of diverse loads, be they palletized or simply in an orderly group. - This invention is characterized in a special construction of the mast, always tubular, completely hollow and in various geometries, so that its horizontal cross-section can be either a straight or curved polygon or a combination of both.
- This new mast replaces the conventional internal reinforcements with an outer configuration at its vertical edges comprising a very broad circular sector, with the same ends of reinforcing this bearing structure, so that these prominent edges, appropriately adapted as an upper continuation of the base of the machine, determine some broadly cylindrical figures which, as well, facilitate the reduction of the weight of the column.
- The materials also determine the constructional finishes, whereby if the column is metallic of steel, the edges can be constituted from tubular profiles, of circular cross-section, complete or cut in a small arc and, then, joined by welding to the plates which enclose the mast.
- In the case of aluminum masts, screwing and riveting is preferable, whilst in the case of plastic materials it is quicker and cheaper to glue the pieces.
- The present descriptive specification is completed with a set of drawings, which illustrate in a non-restrictive manner the preferred embodiment of the invention.
- Figure 1 shows the platform of a wrapping machine, with the base of a rectangular mast according to the invention.
- In the light of the foregoing, the present invention relates to a mast of reduced weight for wrapping machines, for support and guidance of the reduction gear motor for positioning the wrapping carriage, said mast comprising a hollow tubular construction having various geometries, of substantially polygonal cross-section, with straight or curved sides or a combination of both, with vertical edges (1) for reinforcement of the tubular construction, said edges being substantially of cylindrical shape and being prominent outwardly from the polygonal cross section and intended to extend vertically from the back of the base (2) of the machine, further including, between two of these edges (1), the rail (3) for guiding of the reduction gear motor (4).
- The essential nature of this invention is not altered by variations in materials, form, size and arrangement of the component elements, described in a non-restrictive way, this being sufficient for an expert to proceed to its reproduction.
Claims (1)
- Mast of reduced weight for wrapping machines, for support and guidance of the reduction gear motor (4) for positioning the wrapping carriage, said mast comprising a hollow tubular construction having a substantially polygonal cross-section with straight and/or curved sides, characterized by vertical edges (1) for reinforcement of the tubular construction, said edges being substantially of cylindrical shape and being prominent outwardly from the polygonal cross-section and intended to extend vertically from the back of the machine base (2), further including, between two of these edges (1), the rail (3) for guiding of the reduction gear motor (4).
