Description

Domaine technique de l'inventionTechnical field of the invention

The invention relates to a method of placing on a palletised load a flexible packaging cover obtained from a stretchable film sheath, consisting of:
  • open the cover by spacing at the four corners for volume setting above the load,
  • fold the side parts of the accordion cover over pleating fingers,
  • then stretch the pleated cover in the transverse horizontal direction to obtain an opening larger than the perimeter of the load to be packaged,
  • and moving the stretched cover over the load in a vertical direction causing the progressive unfolding followed by the tightening of the film on the load during the foaming motion.

Etat de la techniqueState of the art

The use of a stretch film sheath is well known for providing stability and the sealing of a palletised load. Unlike heat-shrink film, putting in place of a stretchable sheath does not require a heat source because it is sufficient to mechanically stretch the material of the plastic film beforehand in the direction horizontally transverse before wrapping the palletised load to be wrapped. After the removing the stretched cover on the load, tightening the film material Stretchable naturally by elasticity, which firmly holds the cover around the charge.

The sheath is generally stored by winding in a coil, and folded on its section by presenting four bellows. After unwinding the coil, the opening of the sheath is effected by a mechanical action of separation to the four angles.

Packaging machines designed to thread a stretch film cover onto the charge, have for this purpose a spacing device for opening the film sheath stretchable, and a device for folding the accordion sheath over four fingers. according to EP 344815, a welding device is arranged between the device spacer and pleating device for welding the sheath forming a joint welded. After welding, the sheath is then cut transversely by a cutting device for making a cover independent of the coil, and closed at the top. The pleated cover is then stretched in a plane horizontal parallel to the weld, and is positioned above the load palletized. The cover is then unfolded, and deposited on and around the load following a vertical movement from top to bottom.

In FIGS. 1 to 3, each pleating finger 12 extends vertically, and has a idler roller 13 located near the upper end. Four pebbles 14 motorized pinch the cover 10 on the inner rollers 13, and are driven in rotation in the direction of arrows F1 and F2 to ensure the pleating of the cover 10 by stacking it accordion in the lower part of the fingers 12.

The step of horizontal stretching of the cover in the direction of the arrows F3 and F4 is represented in FIG. 3. The motorized rollers 14 no longer rotate, and can be held in abutment against the pleating fingers 12 so as to tighten more or less strongly the upper horizontal part of the cover 10 during stretching.

Such known mechanisms make it possible to obtain a reliable rate maximum transverse stretching of the order of 10% to 40%. Such stretching remains nevertheless insufficient for certain types of palletised loads, to the detriment of the stability and mechanical strength of the palletised load. On the upper part, the poorly tensioned bellows constitute an important windward catch, with risks water retention, tearing during the superposition of two charges, insufficient sealing, and unsightly appearance.

This restriction of the transverse stretching of the cover at a relatively low rate, slowed down the development of this process, often limited to bags, provided that they are not unstable.

At the same time, the mechanism of the COVERPAL packaging machine (brand filed by the company Thimon), is described in detail in the document EP 1060988. The operations of welding and cutting the sheath to form the 10 cover, are performed during the shaking of the previous load, well before laying on the pleating fingers, contrary to the described mechanism previously in EP 344815. The welding is then perfectly cooled when it is stressed by transverse stretching, and is more resistant to constraints of elongation in the use of this method for the implementation a stretchable sheath.

According to DE 4307287, the wrapped load has a section transverse variable in the direction of the height. During the vertical movement, the pleating and drawing fingers are moved horizontally in adaptation to the load profile. The opening of the cover stretched by the fingers decreases or increases as the cross section of the load changes.

According to the document DE 4235409, before the recovery of the cover, a first pair diagonally opposite fingers move to a first length of penetration, and after a predetermined time, a second pair of fingers move to a second length of penetration, which is more short than the first. After the recovery of the cover, the second pair of fingers move horizontally outward, followed by following the first pair of fingers.

According to the document EP 1013549, the cover is formed by an elastic film applied against the load with a longitudinal extension of at least 50% by compared to the cover in the unstretched state.

Objet de l'inventionObject of the invention

The object of the invention is to improve the drawing process and to increase the drawing ratio, taking into account the active and reactive behavior of the sheath and palletized products during the stages of elongation of the sheath and its removal on the load, as well as their subsequent behavior during transport and storage packaged load.

Cet objet est atteint par le procédé selon la revendication 1.This object is achieved by the method of claim 1.

The adjustable part of the sheath can be unwound by means of motorized rollers remained in contact with the pleating and drawing fingers, the motorization of the rollers during unwinding limiting the thickness reduction of the sheath nearby fingers. The motorization of the rollers during the unfolding of the sheath is carried out with a direction of rotation opposite to that occurring during the pleating in accordion, the operation taking place during at least part of the stage stretching, and preferably at a slow speed towards the end of transverse stretching stroke.

The release of the adjustable portion of the sheath can also be effected by spacing of motorized rollers during the stretching step to move them away from the film, and to allow the latter to slide partially on the fingers while avoiding the tearing of the film.

According to one characteristic of the invention, a step of stretching the sheath in the transversal direction also limits the effort of anticipating the relaxation of the material. The effect of overdrawing will avoid tearing sheath when removing, and crushing angle products, especially on the upper layer of the load.

The transverse elongation rate of the sheath may be greater than 50%, preferably between 70% and 150%. The value of the transverse stretching stroke of fingers can be adjusted by an automaton according to various parameters memorized, in particular the perimeter of the load to be packaged, the nature of the film, its thickness and a corrective factor depending on the nature of the palletised product.

To form the cover, the sheath is previously welded, then cut transversely before being placed on the fingers, the weld being perfectly cooled during transverse stretching. The stretching of the cover accumulated on the fingers is relatively regular in the folded part of the sheath. The horizontal part comprising the weld of the cover, is composed of zones of different thicknesses. The elongation of this horizontal portion is irregular, and especially greater in areas close to the drawing fingers. This results in a reduction in thickness in these areas.
To remedy this, we proceed as follows:
  • we accumulate the cover on the fingers to have a horizontal part stretched,
  • transversely stretching the cover by regularly unfolding a portion of the film to let it slide, so as to increase the area of this highly stressed area.

L'invention concerne également un dispositif de mise en place d'une housse de film étirable selon la revendication 9.The invention also relates to a device for setting up a film cover stretcher according to claim 9.

According to a preferred embodiment, the pleating fingers comprise at the upper part of curved drawing shoes to limit the reduction in thickness in the cladding strip subsequently coming into contact with the angles of palletized products, often aggressive. The drawing shoe of each finger has a reentrant central zone with respect to the curved shape in crescent.

With reference to FIGS. 4 to 6, the previously welded cover 10 is then positioned on four UM maneuvering units, each consisting of a carriage 18 for moving the pleating fingers 12 in one direction (arrow F5) substantially confused with the diagonal of the pallet.

The vertical finger 12 or slightly inclined, is carried by the corresponding carriage 18, and is arranged to allow the pleating and accumulation of the sheath on the lower part 12A of the finger 12.

The upper portion 12B of the finger 12 is provided with a drawing shoe 22 having a curved shape advantageously adapted to the friction of the film during the steps of pleating and unfolding. The vertical flank of the upper part 12B of the finger 12 can be equipped with one or two rollers 13 crazy, or be constituted by a plate fixed sliding low friction, so as to pinch the sheath and drive downwards during the pleating by the motorized roller 14. The latter is driven by rotation by a geared motor 24, and applied against the finger 12 by the actuator 20. During this pleating operation, the roller 14 rotates in the direction of the arrow F2 of Figure 1.

The cover 10 is partially set in volume during the stretching phase transverse, and has five planes, including a horizontal shown in FIG. 5, and four vertices extending on the parallel sides two by two. The horizontal plane is partially stretched, the four angle zones ZA being stretched to the maximum.

The geared motors 24 of the four rotary rollers 14 are controlled by dimmers speed adjustable according to various parameters, and whose direction of rotation can be reversed during the pleating and stretching phases. In the sense of rotation F2 rollers 14, the sheath is folded and accumulated accordion on the part 12A of the pleating fingers 12. In the drawing phase corresponding to the moving the carriages 18 in the direction F5, the rollers 14 remain in contact with the fingers 12 (FIG. 4), and allow the film to be stretched with a longer than 50%. Towards the end of travel stroke trolleys 18 in the F5 direction, the geared motors 24 are actuated in the direction of opposite rotation (arrow F6) so as to unroll preferably at slow speed, a portion of the pleated sheath pinched between the rollers 14 and the fingers 12. The thinning of the sheath in the four corner zones of the horizontal plane of the cover 10 is then more limited, since the elongation tension is exerted on a larger surface due to unwinding.

This unwinding phase of the film folded at the end of the travel trolleys 18 makes it possible to better distribute the drawing of the upper horizontal part of the cover, and to present a packaged charge without excess material in the horizontal part of the bellows.

According to the variant of Figure 4a, is also possible to separate the rollers 14 motorized during the stretching step to move them away from the film, and to allow the latter to slide partially on the fingers 12 avoiding tearing of the film. The design of the fingers 12 is arranged to allow this sliding.

In FIG. 6, the drawing shoe 22 of each finger 12 has a reentrant central zone 26 with respect to the curved crescent shape. The presence of this reentrant central zone 26 allows:
  • to limit the stretching in the outstretched outer portions of the horizontal plane of the cover 10, ie the thinning and embrittlement of the film in this zone,
  • to reduce the friction of the film during the foaming over the entire sheath band bearing on the corner products of the load. These products often have a protruding vertical edge, such as corners of cartons or spacers that can constitute tearing primers for the sheath.

L'étirage d'une gaine en polyéthylène conduit à un cycle d'hystérésis prédéterminé de la matière pouvant être illustré sur les diagrammes des figures 7 à 12.Stretching a polyethylene sheath leads to a predetermined hysteresis cycle of the material that can be illustrated in the diagrams of Figures 7 to 12.

During cross-stretching, a section of polyethylene sheath follows the cycle hysteresis of Figure 7. The threshold A of plastic flow is reached quickly at the beginning of the lengthening run, while the break point B intervenes when a limit elongation is reached. The slope of the curve between the thresholds A and B is lower than the beginning of the stretching stroke. It's in the zone stretching between A and B that is the desired stretching.

After stretching, the rapid release of the stretched film is illustrated by the cycle of Figure 8. The film returns to approximately 30% of the maximum elongation obtained during initial stretching to 100% according to the example.

In FIG. 9, if the film is maintained without releasing 100% in the position stretched following the action of a force F, after a certain time progressive decrease over time of the force necessary to maintain stretching. The loss of stretching force is due to the relaxation of the elastic material, and is of the order of 50% after 48 hours of implementation.

The major efforts required for the drawing of the sheath, and the friction on the fingertips during shading causes risks of tearing, crushing of products and tilting corner products. The effort to maintain stretching is translated by cohesive forces on the load. Unfortunately, relaxation reduces these cohesive forces, and the extensive stretches of stretching and foaming do not do not result in high cohesive forces.

With reference to FIG. 10, taking into account the elongation / expansion cycle of the figure 8, it is possible to anticipate the relaxation phenomenon reducing forces keeping the load.

  • allongement ;
During the implementation of a stretchable sheath on a machine of the state of the art, the stages of elongation of the film comprise three distinct phases:
  • lengthening;
  • decreased elongation during removal on the load during the foaming, said decrease from the perimeter necessary for the passage of the fingers 12 and the cover 10 around the load during the foaming. This game is distributed evenly around the load over an interval of the order of 5 to 8 cm.
  • relaxation of the material.

We notes that the draw-down forces have slightly decreased between phase of extension to point B, and the moment when the film comes into contact with the load in C. However, the frictional forces of the film on the fingers 12 during unfolding at point B, and the application forces of the film on the load at point C, remain significantly higher than the residual forces useful for the stability of the charge after 48 hours (point D).

Un automate (non représenté) est utilisé à cet effet pour contrôler l'alimentation des motoréducteurs 24 des galets 14, et entraíneur de déplacement du chariot de commande 18.The drawing method according to the invention consists in stretching the sheath to bring it to a perimeter greater than that required for the houssage. To allow this on stretching, the control carriages 18 of the fingers 12 and rollers 14 this effect of a displacement stroke greater than that required for the houssage of the charge. The value of this transverse stretching stroke can be adjusted in various parameters, including the perimeter of the load to be packaged, the nature of the film, etc .... An automaton (not shown) is used for this purpose for control the power supply of the geared motors 24 of the rollers 14, and trainer of moving the control carriage 18.

  • étirage : OA, AB, puis BB' ;
  • détente : diminution d'étirage B'C' ;
  • déplissage en C' ;
  • dépose sur la charge en D.
In Figure 12, immediately after performing the stretching, the fingers 12 are returned to a position corresponding to the usual perimeter for the foaming phase. The stages of the cycle are as follows:
  • stretching: OA, AB, then BB ';
  • relaxation: reduction of stretching B'C ';
  • unfolding in C ';
  • deposit on the load in D.

The program established by the automaton according to the perimeters of the sheath and the load, is calculated so that at point D, the restoring force (drawing holding force at the perimeter of the load) is substantially equal to F / 2, F being the drawing force at points B or B '.

Because of the particular cycle of the invention, the frictional forces of the film on the fingers 12 are decreased during the unfolding, which makes it possible to avoid tearing of the film, and to facilitate the unfolding. The application force of the film on products is optimized, avoiding any subsequent reduction in time, due to relaxation phenomena. The crushing of the product is avoided, and the strength of Cohesion of charge is maintained to the maximum of the possibilities of the film.

Les figures 13 à 16 représentent la fin de l'opération de houssage avec la prise de l'extrémité de la housse 10 sous la palette, laquelle est posée sur le transporteur 28.Figures 13 to 16 show the end of the shading operation with the taking of the end of the cover 10 under the pallet, which is placed on the carrier 28.

The cover 10 is placed on the four drawing shoes 22, which are mounted two by two on a pair of longitudinal beams 30, 32 extending parallel to the carrier 28. At the end of the hulling stage, the beams 30, 32 descend (arrow R1, figure 13) on both sides of the conveyor 28 with positioning of the shoes 22 below the laying plane of the load palletized. A small part of the film remained accumulated on the four shoes 22, and the pleating rollers prevent any anticipated slipping of the film.

Ces derniers sont écartés du transporteur 28 par un mouvement perpendiculaire (flèche R3, figure 15).The shoes 22 are then brought closer to each other (arrow R2, FIG. translational movement along each beam 30, 32. The film is positioned under the four angles of the plane of the load, and totally leaves the hooves 22. The latter are separated from the conveyor 28 by a movement perpendicular (arrow R3, figure 15).

Such a cycle makes it possible to avoid any lifting movement of the palletised load to allow the movement of horizontal movement of the fingers 12 towards the center of the charge. It allows to position the film in support on the four angles of the laying plan of the load without risking a tear of this stretched film. Good hanging the cover stretched on these angles makes it possible to guarantee the stability of the packaged charge.
