Claims (10)

  1. Container, in particular as a workspace, having a variable volume, comprising
    a basic container (1) with a bottom wall (2) and a top wall (3),
    at least one extension element (10; 20) which can be moved out of the basic container (1) and which has a bottom wall (15; 25), a side open to the basic container (1) and also a front wall situated opposite the open side (16; 26), and
    a device (55) by means of which the at least one extension element (10; 20) can be lowered in such a way that, after the extension element (10; 20) has been moved out, the bottom wall (15; 25; 2) of the extension element (10; 20) and basic container (1) are at the same level, and by means of which the extension element (10; 20) can be raised in such a way that, subsequent to being lowered, the extension element (10; 20) can be moved back into the basic container (1),
    characterized in that
    the basic container (1) has at least one hinged side wall (4, 5), and in that
    the extension element or elements (10; 20) are open at the top and, in the moved-out state, the top wall of one of the expansion elements is formed by the at least one swung-out side wall (4, 5) of the basic container (1).
  2. Container according to Claim 1, characterized in that the container has precisely two hinged side walls (4, 5) and there are precisely two extension elements (10; 20) which can be moved out of the basic container in opposite directions, the dimensions of the extension elements (10; 20) being chosen in such a way that one extension element (20) can be moved into the other extension element (10).
  3. Container according to Claim 1 or 2, characterized in that an extension element has two side walls (17; 27) which are arranged parallel to its direction of movement when being moved out.
  4. Container according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that there are additional surface elements (18; 28) by means of which the gaps arising due to the lowering of the extension elements (10; 20) can be closed, resulting in an interior space which is completely closed off to the outside.
  5. Container according to Claim 4, characterized in that the additional surface elements (18; 28) are hinge-mounted at the upper edge of the side walls (17; 27) of an extension element (10; 20).
  6. Container according to Claim 3, 4 or 5, characterized in that the front wall (16; 26) of an extension element (10; 20) is higher than its two side walls (17; 27).
  7. Container according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that, with the extension element (10; 20) moved out and lowered, the swung-out side wall (4, 5) of the basic container (1) which forms the top wall of the extension element comes to rest in an outwardly descending position.
  8. Container according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that guide rails (50) which can be moved out of the basic container (1) are present for each extension element (10; 20).
  9. Container according to Claim 8, characterized in that the guide rails (50) are arranged laterally offset with respect to an extension element (10; 20).
  10. Container according to Claim 8 or 9, characterized in that the guide rails (50) are designed as lifting rails.
