Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a copper-nickel-manganese alloy and the use thereof as a material, in particular for the production of detachable electrical connections and of tools and components in the offshore area and mining.
It is known to make the relatively expensive copper-beryllium alloys cheaper To replace copper-nickel-manganese alloys, for example in the area of electrical and electronic components.
As environmental awareness among the population increases, move up Aspects of environmental compatibility and health risks are increasing in the center of interest. Any criticism should be avoided.
Because of the possible health effects of dust and -Vapors that occur when materials containing materials are improperly processed can, there are therefore increasing demands for free materials posed.
The invention is therefore based on the object of a further (Be-free) Cu-Ni-Mn alloy with better properties.
The object is achieved by a Cu-Ni-Mn alloy, which consists of 15 to 25% nickel; 15 to 25% manganese; 0.001 to 1.0% of a chip breaking Additive, the rest copper and usual impurities, exists (the percentage refers to the weight).
Lead, carbon, in particular, preferably come as chip-breaking additives. in the form of graphite or soot particles, and intermetallic phases. The formation of the intermetallic phases is at least by the addition an element from the group phosphorus, silicon, titanium, vanadium, sulfur causes.
From JP-OS 62-202.238 is a Cu-Ni-Mn alloy with 5 to 35% nickel; 5 to 35% manganese is known, which additionally 0.01 to 20% of one or more Contains elements consisting of two groups of numerous elements, including lead, can be selected. This contrasts with the claimed alloy composition a selection before; because the claimed areas are closely compared to the abundance of possible variations according to the prior art. The claimed areas are also far from the examples according to the Table of the JP-OS. In addition, there is a targeted selection, as through the chip-breaking Addition to the Cu-Ni-Mn alloy is surprisingly an excellent one Combination of strength and toughness of the alloy is achieved as further is explained in more detail below using an exemplary embodiment.
Die Ansprüche 7 und 8 betreffen bevorzugte Legierungszusammensetzungen.Claims 7 and 8 relate to preferred alloy compositions.
A particularly homogeneous and low-segregation distribution of all alloy elements is present when the alloy according to the invention is produced by the spray compacting process.
The master molding process for the copper material is carried out by spray compacting (cf. the so-called "OSPREY" process, for example according to GB-PS 1,379,261 / 1,599,392 or EPS 0.225.732). As a preform, there are bolts that are processed into semi-finished products (bars, tubes, profiles, bushings) using typical thermoforming processes (pressing, rolling, forging).
spanend bearbeiten. The copper-nickel-manganese-lead variant produced in the spray compacting process is very fine-grained when cast. The process also guarantees a homogeneous nickel distribution. With conventional manufacturing, zones are formed that are enriched with nickel. Experience has shown that these grain segregations do not completely dissolve during further production, so that the RF suitability is not or only to a limited extent.
This lead-containing variant has a fine distribution of lead and is easy to machine.
The good combination of properties of the Cu-Ni-Mn alloy according to the invention also requires an advantageous use as a material for the production of Tools and components for the offshore area and mining, esp. for drilling rigs.
Mechanical components are used for high loads in offshore technology (such as drill pipe, screw connections, bolts, etc.) that have high resilience and have very good corrosion properties and must neither be ferromagnetic nor when they collide explosions or fire due to pyrophoric reactions of splinters spurting away may trigger. For such requirements, according to the state of the art Components and tools made of Cu-Be alloys used these Combine properties in a special way. It has now been surprising pointed out that with Cu-Ni-Mn alloys of the proposed Be-free Composition not only all requirements can be met but also considerable availability advantages over the usual ones Cu-Be alloys can be achieved and when combined with the manufacture by spray compacting also a selectively better technological suitability is found, in particular the requirements for drill string components according to API (American Petroleum Institute) Specification 7 ("Specification for Rotary Drill Stem Elements ") 38th Ed., April 1, 1994.
The drill string is subject to high mechanical and physical / chemical Stresses. The individual strand elements are made by threaded connections connected with each other. Because of the high forces in the Borehole occur, the individual strand elements are being applied high torques screwed together. About plastic deformations To avoid the thread, the material must have a high yield strength to have.
The drill string surfaces are stressed by abrasion and erosion. The wear is minimized by the highest possible material hardness reduced.
The exact load collectives are usually unknown. investigations of damage that has occurred, however, has shown that very high vibrating but also sudden loads can occur. The The toughness of the materials used therefore plays a role in the safe functioning a crucial role. The toughness of the copper alloy used should therefore be maximized for a strength level and as even as possible be across the cross section.
The rock formations become mechanical on the bottom of the borehole smashed and with a so-called drilling fluid to the surface pumped. Elevated temperature and the chemical or physico-chemical Attack by the rinsing liquid requires a high level of corrosion resistance of the materials used. In particular, the material be resistant to stress corrosion cracking in sulphurous media.
The screwing of the individual drill string elements under high torque must not lead to cold welding ("fretting"). Therefore possible foreign materials (e.g. steel with non-ferrous metal) with each other get connected.
For threaded connections of drill string components made of austenitic, Non-magnetizable steels are therefore often made of intermediate pieces a high-strength copper alloy screwed in between. As a more appropriate For example, copper material has been copper beryllium (UNS C 17200) used.
An example of this is the copper-beryllium spacer, which at austenitic, non-magnetizable drill collars be used.
It turns out that with the alloy according to the invention compared to the CuBe alloys an excellent copper substitute is available.
