Definitions
- the invention relates to the field of snow sliding sports, and more particularly in alpine skiing. It relates more specifically to alpine skis whose upper face at the level of the skate area is not completely flat, but on the contrary has lateral recesses, at the level of the upper edges.
- an alpine ski in its skating area has at least one lower sliding surface composed of a sole bordered by edges metal. It also has an upper face substantially parallel to the lower sliding surface, on either side of the median longitudinal plane of the ski.
- the structure includes a shell of general trapezoidal section which connects one edge to another by covering the elements constitutive of the structure.
- the structure in a second family, includes elements of lateral reinforcements which form at least part of the lateral faces of the ski. These reinforcing elements are generally visible and form the edges ski over all or part of its thickness.
- reinforcing elements are located directly above the edges, and more precisely of the thickest part of the edges which adjoins the gliding sole, also called “cord”. Thanks to these reinforcing elements, the supports exerted on the upper face of the ski are more effectively transmitted on the edges and therefore allow better attachment.
- Document FR 2 703 916 describes a gliding board having such reinforcing elements, and which also has recesses made at the side faces extending between the upper part of the elements of reinforcement and the upper face of the ski.
- the ski described in this document exhibits a setback of height between the central part of its upper face and the lateral zones.
- This recess forms a recess made above the reinforcing element.
- This reinforcing element has a height which is substantially constant over the entire length of the ski so that the recesses made at the level of the skate area have a bottom substantially parallel to the sole of slips.
- the objective of the invention is to provide a ski which has a geometry derived from that described above, and whose qualities of dynamic behavior are superior, especially with regard to the sequence of different phases of a turn.
- this board is characterized in that the recesses form a hollow area connecting to the reinforcing elements, and in that the lower part of these recesses has a slope inclined longitudinally relative to the lower sliding surface. and on the upper side.
- the characteristic recesses form a hollow zone at the interior of the lateral reinforcing elements which therefore have a height reduced and variable at the level of these recesses.
- the board therefore presents level of these edges a continuous decrease in its thickness. This induces a variation of partial and local stiffness in the recess area.
- the behavior of the board is modified according to the location of the point of application of the forces exerted by the skier, this location depending in particular strongly on the position that the skier takes during the different phases of a turn.
- the characteristic recesses can take different forms.
- the lower part of the recesses that is to say their bottom, can be inclined either towards the front and the bottom of the ski, or towards the back and the bottom of the ski.
- the inclination of the longitudinal section in the reinforcement element lateral transfers the support pressure to the front of the ski during the turn, since the partial stiffness of the ski is greater at the front than at the rear of the recess. This therefore improves the handling of the turn because the edge grip during initiating the turn is more effective.
- the inclined slope of the bottom of the recesses can also have various geometries.
- the lower part of the recesses can have a slope which is either substantially constant over most of its length, or again variable over the length of the recess.
- the inclined bottom of the recess can be either flat or curved.
- the lateral zones of the board can include different materials, in front and behind the recess feature.
- the choice of different materials gives properties different mechanics in the areas directly in front of and behind the recess feature.
- one of the materials present in one of the lateral zones can be of viscoelastic nature, so as to give damping properties at the side area in question.
- one of the materials present in the lateral zones can be elastic nature, so as to impart dynamizing properties to the area lateral in question.
- the slots may have a V or Y profile, or a profile rectangular, or even a combination of these different geometries.
- one localizes the zone having damping properties either at the front or at the rear of the recess, and the lateral zone with dynamic properties either at the rear or at the front of the recess.
- the characteristic recesses may have a width, measured transversely to the board, which is variable over the length of the recess. We can thus optimize the variation of partial stiffness of the board.
- the gliding board can include several recesses made on the same side of the board. These recesses, 2 in number or 3, may have inclinations oriented in the same direction, or in a preferred shape in opposite directions.
- the board has two recesses on each side.
- the recess at the front presents a tilt downward and forward.
- the recess at the back presents as for an inclination oriented upwards and forwards (or so equivalent down and back).
- Such a board can in particular be equipped with a platform raising of the binding, which has lateral portions the edge of which lower comes into contact or opposite the bottom of the recess, with a slope inclined complementary to that of the bottom of the recess.
- skiing (1) comprises a skid zone (2), a heel zone (3), and a spatula zone (4).
- the ski has an upper face (5) which is intended to receive the stop and the heel of the binding, possibly by via a raising platform.
- This upper face (5) is substantially flat on either side of the median longitudinal plane of the ski.
- the ski (1) On each side, the ski (1) has a reinforcing element (6) forming the song of skiing.
- This lateral reinforcement element (6) extends over the major part of the length of the board, from the heel area (3) to the tip area (4).
- This lateral reinforcement element (6) is located directly above the edges (7) present on the lower edges of the ski.
- This lateral reinforcement element (6) allows the transmission of support from the upper face (5) of the ski towards the edges (7), and more precisely the cord (8) of these edges, which constitutes the portion of edges (7) coming directly into contact with snow and present on the lower edge of the board.
- the board comprises lateral faces (10) which extend between the upper part of the reinforcing elements (6) and the face upper (5) of the board.
- these lateral faces (10) include recesses (12) opening onto the upper face (5).
- these recesses (12) form a recessed area (13) inside the reinforcing elements (6), as illustrated in FIG. 2.
- This recess (12) is mainly bounded by three surfaces, namely a first surface (15) substantially vertical, and the upper part of which joins the upper face (5) of the ski.
- the recess (12) also has a bottom (16) which forms an inclined slope relative to the sliding surface (9) and to the upper face of the ski (5).
- This background inclined (16) is extended at the rear by a portion (17) which is connected to the face upper of the ski (5) at the rear of the recess (12).
- the deepest zone (18) of the recess forms the limit between the slope inclined (16) and the portion (17) for connection to the upper face (5).
- the slope of the inclined bottom (16) of the recess (12), measured by ratio to the sliding surface (9) is between 1 and 20 °, and preferably between 2 ° and 5 °.
- the thickness e1 of the board measured at the edges, substantially at the lowest level (18) of the recess (12), is less than the thickness e2 measured further forward the recess.
- the thickness e1 corresponds to the thickness of the lateral reinforcement element (6) to which is added the thickness of the cord (8) of the edges (7), in which the sole (25) is positioned.
- the element lateral reinforcement (6) is generally narrower than the recess (12), and has for example a width equivalent to that of the edge bead (8).
- the board includes not only the lateral reinforcing element (6) taken in its height maximum, but also part (24) of the internal structure (23) of the board, which extends above the reinforcing elements (6).
- the board comprises in its internal structure an upper reinforcement (28) which follows different shapes along of the board and which extends more or less laterally, as shown in the comparison of Figures 4 and 5.
- the invention is not limited to only embodiments illustrated, but also covers variants in which the inclined slope of the bottom of the recess is oriented in the opposite direction, that is to say towards the rear and to the top.
- the deepest area of the recess is located rather in the front part of the latter, while in the illustrated figures, this most deep (18) is located rather behind the recess (12).
- the invention also covers other variants in which the width of the recesses is not constant, but variable over the length of the recess.
- the invention is also not limited to the form illustrated in FIG. 2 in which the bottom (16) of the recess (12) is substantially planar, but it embraces on the contrary, all the variants concerning the geometry of the bottom of the recess, and for example a curved bottom, since the bottom of this recess is not parallel to the sliding surface and to the upper face of the ski.
- the board also has four bosses (11a, 11b, 11c, 11d) arranged in front and behind each obviously (12). These optional bosses transfer the support from the skate area towards the spatula and heel areas.
- the ski according to the invention has, in front and rear of the recess (12), lateral zones which include different materials.
- the ski comprises in front of the recess (12) a spindle (30) including a viscoelastic material.
- this time zone (30) can be inserted above the reinforcing element (6) and below the portion (31) forming the top of the structure of the board.
- This spindle (30) can rest for example on the lateral reinforcement element (6) or be inserted inside a hollow area made in this element of reinforcement, or else rest on the lateral reinforcement element to forming a recessed area in the structure portion (31).
- this spindle (30) of viscoelastic material confers shock absorbing properties at this localized area of the board. In this way, part vibrations passing through this zone are absorbed by this zone (30). In addition, this spindle (30) absorbs part of the energy necessary for bending the ski in the area in which it is located, which changes the local stiffness of the ski. In the case where this zone (30) is implanted as in the form illustrated in FIGS. 6 and 7 in front of the recess, this modified partial stiffness facilitates entry into the cornering, and improves comfort.
- the lateral zone (37) of the ski presents in back of the recess, different slots (35) filled with elastic material (36). These different slots (35) are hollowed out while being slightly oriented towards the rear. and the top of the board.
- these slots have a general U shape, comprising two parallel main walls, but the invention also covers the variants in which these slots have a V or Y section.
- two geometries or others not shown can be mixed inside a same set of slots.
- the material used to fill the slots (35) may be an elastic material such as rubber or a polyurethane elastomer.
- the walls of the same slot (35) tend to approach in compressing the material (36) which they trap. This material (36) therefore has tendency to oppose this deformation.
- the cause of the bending disappears, that is to say when the ski finds itself flat especially after the impulse given by the skier to initiate a turn, the material (36) tends to cause the re-spacing of the walls of the slots (35) and therefore a faster return to position from the board to its original curvature.
- initial curvature is meant the curvature of the board when the ski is loaded only by the weight of the skier, so static.
- the different slots (35) can be filled with a material which also have viscoelastic properties, such as VIBTENE®.
- the area including the plurality of slots has properties damping.
- the board has a zone (34) comprising slots parallels arranged in front of the recess (12).
- This board includes also a spindle (38) disposed at the rear of the recess (12).
- the ski can also include two different time zones, being located at the front of the recess, the other being located at the rear.
- the board has two recesses (53, 54) made from each of the sides of the board.
- Each of these recesses (53, 54) is of similar design to those described above.
- the bottom (55) of the front recess (53) has a downward and forward tilt.
- the bottom (56) of the rear recess (54) has an inclination oriented towards the up and forward (or equivalent down and back).
- the length (l) of the substantially horizontal portion (57) separating the two recesses (53, 54) is variable according to the slopes and the lengths of the recesses (53, 54). It can even be reduced to zero, so these two recesses are then contiguous.
- the gliding board according to the invention has many advantages, including a distribution of stiffness in the skate area which allows maximum power to be concentrated at the edges, and therefore the maximum grip of the ski under the foot when triggering of the turn.
