Abstract

The interface plate (1) is made from a cast metal profile and designed to be fixed to the upper surface of a ski to receive the toe stop and heel clamp of a boot safety fastening. It has a lengthwise channel forming a slideway with raised and in-turned edges (10, 11, 12, 13) to receive projections on the undersides of the toe stop and heel clamp, enabling them to be adjusted and fixed in the required position for the boot size. The under surface of the plate is for the most part in contact with the ski, and it can act as a platform to raise the toe stop and heel clamp several millimetres above the ski surface.

Description

Domaine techniqueTechnical area

The invention relates to the field of snow sports and more particularly to that of alpine skiing. It relates more specifically to an accessory element allowing easy mounting and adjustment of the binding on a ski. It is more specifically an interface plate which is intended to be secured to the upper face of a ski.

In general, a ski binding is composed of a stop and a heel. Traditionally, the stop and the heel rest directly on the upper face of the ski on which they are screwed.

Many devices have already been proposed to prevent the stop and the heel is not directly screwed to the upper face of the ski, but instead are secured to the latter through additional elements.

Ainsi, FR-A- 2 635 465 décrit un tel dispositif.Thus, FR-A-2,635,465 describes such a device.

Thus, document FR 2 128 919 describes a ski on which is mounted a first plate whose lateral sides are profiled to form two rails. This first plate receives a second plate which therefore has a longitudinal sliding capacity. The stop and the heel are mounted on this second plate so that it is possible to move both the stop and the heel relative to the ski, so as to adjust the mid-point of the shoe, that is to say say so as to position the middle of the shoe at different points along the length of the ski while maintaining a constant stub-heel distance. The adjustment of the stop and the heel to adapt to the size of the shoe is as on a traditional ski by action on the stop and / or the heel.

Furthermore, EP 0 346 414 describes another improved fastening device. The attachment mounting device comprises two lateral rails which are secured to the ski. These two lateral rails have a form of slide and accommodate two connecting rods that can adopt several positions different vis-à-vis the side slides, sliding between them. The abutment and the heel of the binding are mounted on these connecting rods. By temporarily disconnecting the connecting rods and the slides, it is possible to simultaneously move the stop and the heel to adjust the position of the middle of the boot relative to the ski.

The adjustment of the position of the stop and the heel to adapt to the length of the shoe is done by acting on adjusting screws. In this way, it modifies the position of the abutment and / or the heel relative to the connecting rods, and therefore relative to the ski.

It is understood that this adjustment device is relatively complex, since it requires multiple elements, which decreases the reliability of the system and increases the cost.

In addition, for the two particular devices mentioned above, as well as for a traditional mounting, the fixing mounting screws on an intermediate device or directly on the ski occupy a lateral space relative to the stop and the heel. The need for this lateral space imposes constraints on the geometry of the abutment and the heel.

The object of the invention is to provide a system that allows the simple adjustment of the positions of the stop and the heel to be able to adapt to different shoe sizes with the minimum of mechanical parts.

Another object of the invention is to allow the replacement of a portion of the attachment, that is to say the abutment or heel in a simple manner, that is to say without requiring new holes board or an intermediate element.

Exposé de l'inventionPresentation of the invention

The invention therefore relates to an interface plate which is intended to be secured to the upper face of a ski. This interface plate is adapted to receive the stop and the heel of the security fastener.

According to the invention, this plate is characterized as present in the characterizing part of claim 1.

The profiles of the zones of the slideway respectively retaining the protruding parts located under the abutment and the heel are geometrically identical.

In other words, the plate according to the invention is fixed to the ski by connecting screws or any other equivalent means which are located in a single position, indifferent to the adjustment position of the stop and the heel. The cooperation between the plate and the stop and the heel is made inside a slide which has the same profile over its entire useful length, that is to say at least in the areas in which it retains the parts. protuberances located under the abutment and the heel.

Thus, to adjust the attachment to the length of the shoe, simply change either the position of the stop or that of the heel, by sliding in the characteristic slide.

With this geometry, the stop and the heel can occupy a greater part of the width of the board, since no screw is necessary to block the position of the stop and the heel relative to the slide. This gives a better guidance of the ski.

In addition, since the slide is integrated with the plate, the total height of the plate-stop or heel plate assembly is reduced compared to the prior art.

The characteristic plate of the invention can be used in different ways. Thus, this interface plate may have its lower face which comes directly into contact on most of its surface with the upper face of the ski. In this case, it may be a simple sheet which is fixed on the ski at the time of manufacture of the latter.

In a second case, the characteristic plate can form a raising platform away from the abutment and the heel of several millimeters with respect to the upper face of the ski. In other words, the raising platform incorporates the slide for adjusting the stop and the heel.

In a particular form, the interface plate forming an enhancement platform may have lateral portions directed downwards, intended to cooperate with the ski.

According to another characteristic of the invention, the slideway may comprise at least one region located in the zone receiving the abutment or heel, said region forming a rack with which cooperate longitudinal adjustment means of the abutment or the heel.

Advantageously in practice, the plate comprises at least one cavity receiving a plate carrying the rack. In other words, the bottom of the slide has a housing inside which is set up a notched zone or rack cooperating with a worm located in the abutment or the heel. In this way, by acting on this worm, or on equivalent means, one can slightly move the stop and the heel inside the slide to adjust their positions.

The racks can also be made directly in the bottom of the slide, by machining or equivalent.

The interface plate according to the invention can adopt different geometries. Thus, in a first variant, the plate extends continuously between the zones accommodating the abutment and the heel, which makes it possible to obtain by construction a slideway which has an identical geometrical profile between the zone of the abutment and the zone of the heel. It may for example be extrusion, or be made from a metal profile, or molded.

In an alternative embodiment, the slide can be interrupted at the median level of the plate, so that the latter comprises two slides of the same geometric profiles, arranged in alignment with each other. In this case central zone of the plate, extending on either side of the middle of the shoe does not have the means for retaining the protruding parts located under the abutment and the heel.

In another variant embodiment, the characteristic plate may be formed of two elementary plates respectively receiving the abutment and the heel, these elementary plates being connected by a connecting portion. In other words, the central part of the interface plate, which receives neither the stop nor the heel, is constituted by an additional element which has no slide but which provides the connection between the front elementary plate and the rear elementary plate, which each comprise slides of identical geometric profiles.

In a particular embodiment, the slide has a profile comprising a flat bottom and two lateral zones forming a return towards the median longitudinal plane of the interface plate. In this way, the geometric profile of the slide keeps the protruding parts located under the abutment and the heel, which have a general inverted T profile. The ends of the horizontal leg of the T are then held by the returns of the lateral zones of the slide.

In a more advanced form of the invention, the abutment / heel and interface plate assembly also comprises means for ensuring the simultaneous displacement in the opposite direction of the abutment and the heel during adjustment of the attachment to the length of the boot.

In other words, when acting on the stop or the heel to move it, it automatically causes the opposite movement of the heel or the stop, so that the stop and the heel away or move closer to one of the 'other.

These two elements therefore move symmetrically around the mid-point of the shoe.

The figure illustrates such a plate (1) in which there is identified a front area (2) for receiving the stop of the binding, and a rear area (3) for receiving the heel of the binding. More specifically, and in the form illustrated, this plate (1) has a flat bottom (5) extending from the front end (4) of the plate to the rear end (6). At the rear level, this flat bottom (5) has a passage (7) allowing the passage of a fastening screw to the board.

On the opposite side, near the front end (4), the flat bottom (5) has two through openings (8) for securing the front portion of the plate to the board. These through openings (8) have an elongated shape to allow a slight sliding of the front end (4) of the plate relative to the board. Nevertheless, the invention is in no way limited to any form of means for securing the plate relative to the board. It covers in particular all variants allowing or not a slight sliding of a front, central or rear part of the plate.

According to the invention, the bottom (5) of the plate has on each side side regions (10, 11, 12, 13) rising upwards. More specifically, each of these lateral zones (10-13) has a portion (14-17) which is perpendicular to the bottom (5) of the plate, and a portion (18-21) parallel to the bottom (5) of the plate, and directed towards the median longitudinal plane (P). These portions (18-21) therefore constitute returns that close the slides themselves. These slides have the role of maintaining the stop and the heel laterally and vertically.

In the form illustrated in FIG. 1, these slides are interrupted in the central zone of the platform, close to the middle shoe mark (22). The lateral portions (15, 17, 14, 16) are separated by a recess (23, 24) in which the plate has only its bottom (5). This indentation (23, 24) allows a slight longitudinal bending of the plate.

It should be noted that the lateral portions (10, 11) located in the rear part (3) of the plate, have a shape identical to the lateral portions (12, 13) present in the front part (2) of the plate. The two slides thus defined have an identical geometric profile.

According to another characteristic of the invention, the bottom (5) of the plate has two recesses (26, 27) formed substantially along the median longitudinal plane (P) of the plate. These housings (26, 27) are of generally rectangular shape, and are respectively located in the front (2) and rear areas of the plate. These housings (26, 27) form a thinner area of the bottom (5) of the plate. These housings (26, 27) accommodate plates supporting racks (28) for cooperating with the adjustment members in the longitudinal position of the stop and the heel.

In the case (not shown) where the bottom (5) of the plate rests directly on the upper face of the ski, these housing (26, 27) can be open so that the racks they accommodate rest directly on the face superior of the ski.

Other geometries may also be adopted in which these housings are partially open and have shoulders to support the characteristic racks.

In practice, these racks (28, 29) are intermeshed by worms capable of pivoting inside the abutment and the heel during their adjustment. The worms can be replaced by locking bars.

As illustrated in Figure 4, the stop has in its lower part a protruding zone (30) which has a general shape of inverted T. More precisely, this protuberance (30) has two lateral protuberances (31, 32) which are housed under the portions (20, 21) of the lateral zones (12, 13) of the slide of the front part (2) of the plate .

The abutment also has zones (33, 34) extending in width over the slider portions (20, 21). The penetration of the portions (20, 21) within the shape of the stop ensures a firm and effective lateral support of the stop in the slide.

A shape identical to the protuberance (30) is present under the not shown heel.

In the variant illustrated in Figure 6, the interface plate (40) consists of two elementary plates (41, 42) separated by a connecting portion (43). This connecting portion (43) may be rigid or flexible, it may optionally include a connecting member which allows to induce a movement of the heel when the stop is adjusted in position or vice versa.

By way of non-illustrated example, it may be a double endless screw not reversed. In this case, the lower zone of the protrusion (30) of the abutment comprises a rack meshing with one of the steps of the double worm. When the stop is moved in the slide, it causes the rotation of the double worm. This movement of rotation then moves the heel which is itself equipped with a rack also geared on the other step of the double worm.

In this way, when moving the heel, it also moves the stop or vice versa. The abutment and the heel are moving away from or approaching symmetrically the position of the middle of the shoe, which avoids any shift forward or backward of the actual position of the middle of the boot relative to its optimum position.

It follows from the foregoing that the interface plate according to the invention has multiple advantages, and in particular a very great ease of implementation on the ski, and easy handling for adjusting the attachment with respect to the length of the the shoe.
