Abstract
Description
Die Anschlussklemme 1 bietet also insgesamt vier Anschlüsse.

Description The invention relates to a screwless connecting terminal, in particular a modular terminal, with a busbar in a terminal housing and an insulation displacement contact electrically connected to the latter, between the facing cutting edges of which an electrical conductor can be contacted, which can be inserted into the terminal housing via a housing bushing .
Terminal blocks for contacting and connecting electrical conductors are also known in various designs as so-called terminal blocks, which can be snapped onto mounting rails or top-hat rails. A distinction can be made between screw terminals, in which the electrical conductors are fixed by means of clamping screws, and screwless connecting terminals in the form of spring terminals, in which the electrical conductors are clamped by means of a compression or tension spring.
While the conductor end to be contacted is stripped beforehand in the case of the screw terminals and spring terminals mentioned above, so-called insulation displacement terminals or insulation displacement contacts enable stripping-free conductor contact. Screwless terminals are usually used for stripping-free conductor contact.
For example, EP 0 691 706 B1 discloses a screwless connection terminal using insulation displacement technology, in which the conductor is translated by means of an auxiliary element against an insulation displacement contact with knife-like cutting contacts which penetrate the conductor insulation and contact the conductor wire. A disadvantage of this type of terminal is that the insertion openings for the conductor on the one hand and for the auxiliary element on the other are provided on different sides of the housing of the terminal housing.
In many applications, this considerably complicates the assembly and contacting of the conductor.
This problem is avoided in a screwless connecting terminal known from DE 195 41 137 A1, which is designed as an electrical front wiring terminal, in that an insulation displacement contact mounted in the terminal housing is rotated in rotation against the conductor inserted into the terminal housing by means of an actuating tool, which is on the same housing side as the conductor is inserted into the terminal box.
A disadvantage of this embodiment is, on the one hand, the only unsatisfactory electrical connection between the cutting contact and the busbar connected to it, since this connection also represents the swivel joint. It is therefore only possible to implement a practically point-shaped connection with inevitable weakening of the conductor rail cross section.
On the other hand, the releasability of the cutting contact is difficult.
The invention is therefore based on the object of developing a screwless terminal of the type mentioned in such a way that, while avoiding the disadvantages mentioned, reliable insulation displacement contacting of a conductor is made possible, while at the same time being easy to remove.
According to the invention, this object is achieved by the features of claim 1. For this purpose, the insulation displacement contact is slidably arranged on the busbar. When the conductor is immovably positioned, the insulation displacement contact is made by a translatory sliding movement of the insulation displacement contact along the conductor rail. In this case, cutting edges of the insulation displacement contact, which face one another, cut through the conductor insulation and form contact with the conductor wire, forming a guide and cutting slot.
To form the cutting edges, the insulation displacement contact is U-shaped, the free ends of the U legs being bent toward one another to create the cutting and guiding slot. The front edge of the insulation displacement contact facing this, when the conductor is inserted into the terminal housing, i. H. of the cutting slot, runs obliquely downwards and is sharpened.
It is known from DE 298 02 674 U1 and DE 197 49 622 C1 to carry out insulation displacement contacting by means of sliding carriages which can be moved in translation. However, the sliding carriages which are made of insulating material in the known connection terminals are to be introduced as additional parts from the outside into the terminal housing or to be movable within the housing.
In addition, in a disadvantageous manner, in both embodiments the conductor is moved together with the sliding carriage in the direction of an insulation displacement contact arranged in a stationary manner in the terminal housing, in order to be inserted into its cutting slot.
On the basis of this known sliding technique, the invention is based on the consideration that the number of components required for insulation displacement contacting of the conductor can be reduced by translating the insulation displacement contact itself along the conductor rail. This also has the effect that the insulation displacement contacting is at rest, ie. H. immovably positioned conductor can take place. This in turn enables the conductor to be positioned and held in a particularly reliable and secure manner while it is being cut-contacted.
The advantageously rigid and thus immovable conductor is positioned in the terminal housing after it has been inserted into the terminal housing and before the actual insulation displacement contacting, in a sleeve-shaped guide which is formed above the cutting edges through the housing bushing and below the cutting edges by the insulation displacement contact guide straps extending in the longitudinal direction of the rail is formed. These are in front of the insulation displacement contact on the conductor and thus take it between them.
The electrically conductive connection between the insulation displacement contact and the busbar can be made in different ways. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the connection is made by means of a grinding tab formed on the insulation displacement contact below a front edge and extending in the longitudinal direction of the rail. The grinding tab is bent against a bent-in busbar section in such a way that it abuts the underside of the busbar section. In an expedient development of this embodiment, the bent-in busbar section has a free end set up in the direction of the housing bushing.
This serves as the back, d. H. on the side of the conductor facing away from the insulation displacement contact for this as a contact web.
According to an alternative embodiment, the electrically conductive connection between the insulation displacement contact and the busbar takes place by means of a side sliding contact. In this case, the insulation displacement contact preferably has two grinding tabs resting on the opposite side edges of the busbar. In this embodiment, the busbar is expediently designed to be waisted in the sliding contact area, so that the grinding tabs, which are preferably curved inwards in the direction of the busbar, do not protrude from the busbar, or only slightly, laterally.
In a further embodiment, the electrically conductive connection takes place by means of a lower and / or upper sliding contact with respect to the busbar. A sliding tab formed on the insulation displacement contact rests on the underside of the busbar, on the top of the busbar or on both sides of the busbar.
For this purpose, the grinding tab formed on the insulation displacement contact is bent transversely to the longitudinal direction of the rail. Starting from the underside of the conductor rail on its upper side, this grinding tab is bent over for contacting the top and bottom sides and in this case lies around the end of the conductor rail on the top side of the conductor rail.
Furthermore, the electrically conductive connection between the insulation displacement contact and the busbar can take place by means of a sliding contact provided in the central region of the busbar. For this purpose, a contact plate, which is positioned against the contact rail, bears against the contact plate and is in turn molded onto the insulation displacement contact. In this embodiment, two contact tabs of the busbar between them are formed onto the insulation displacement contact, which are bent toward the middle of the busbar and rest against the contact tab of the busbar.
To form the contact tab, a widened busbar section can be slotted on both ends transversely to the longitudinal direction of the busbar and then bent open. Alternatively, to form the contact tab, a conductor rail section that has been erected by multiple bending can be aligned parallel to the longitudinal direction of the conductor rail by subsequent twisting or twisting.
With such terminals in insulation displacement technology, the insulation of the conductor is cut to make contact. In order to apply the force required for this purpose, an actuating tool, for example a screwdriver, which can be inserted from the outside into the housing of the connecting terminal, is generally provided, with which the conductor and insulation displacement contact are moved relative to one another. Therefore, the insulation displacement contact expediently has an insertion opening or an insertion slot for the conductor and an engagement recess for an actuating tool, one behind the other in the direction of movement.
A funnel-shaped housing shaft in the terminal housing, via which an actuating tool can be inserted into the terminal housing from the outside, is aligned with this, for example, dovetail-shaped engagement recess. The funnel-shaped housing shaft tapers in the direction of insertion in order to expand conically in the direction of insertion below the narrow point or constriction formed in the direction of the engagement recess.
In order to enable handling that is as gentle as possible, in a particularly expedient embodiment for contacting the conductor, a contacting element is actuated via an actuating element which interacts with the actuating tool and is designed such that direct contact between the actuating tool and the contacting element is avoided. It is provided for a secure insulation displacement contact that the contacting element comprises the insulation displacement contact for contacting the conductor held stationary in the terminal housing.
The contacting element and the insulation displacement contact thus form a unitary component.
This embodiment with the additional actuating element has the advantage that the contacting element cannot be injured, for example as a result of improper insertion by the actuating tool. This ensures gentle actuation, so that the functionality of the insulation displacement contact is retained even when the conductor is repeatedly contacted. For this purpose, the actuating element is preferably arranged between the actuating tool and the contacting element when the actuating tool is inserted.
The actuating element, which has a receiving space for the actuating tool, is hollow on the inside and forms a multi-sided guide for the actuating tool. As a result, direct contact between the actuating tool and the contacting element is avoided both when contacting and when the contact is released, that is to say with different directions of movement of the actuating tool. The actuating element preferably engages loosely in the contacting element.
The loose engagement enables safe operation of the operating tool, on the one hand, and, on the other hand, easy handling is ensured due to the play. The actuating element is preferably arranged so that it cannot be lost in the terminal housing, so that loss of the actuating element is avoided.
In an expedient development, the housing has a projection as an abutment for the actuating element, and the actuating element is snapped into this abutment. This enables a particularly simple attachment of the actuating element into the terminal housing, in that the actuating element is pressed into the terminal housing via a pressure point determined by the projection. The projection can determine an axis of rotation for the actuating element. Since the actuating element also guides the actuating tool, this is also rotated about this axis of rotation.
The projection designed as an abutment thus forms a point of attack on which the actuating tool is supported. The forces exerted by the actuating tool are thereby advantageously absorbed by the terminal housing.
If the actuating element is designed as a swivel lever with a wedge-like bulge, in particular, as a counter bearing to the abutment, simple insertion of the actuating element into the terminal housing is made possible. In order to ensure easy insertion over the projection, the actuating element is preferably designed to be elastic. For a production-technically simple configuration, the actuating element is preferably in one piece.
In order to maintain a high level of user-friendliness of the connection terminal, the actuating element expediently has an indicator for the direction of movement into the open position or in the clamped position. It is clearly visible from the outside in which direction the actuating tool for clamping contact or must be performed to release the contact. Also for a high level of user-friendliness and in order to recognize whether the plugged-in conductor is contacted, the actuating element in a preferred embodiment has a marking for the position of the contacting element.
Exemplary embodiments of the invention are explained in more detail below with reference to a drawing. Busbar, Fig. 10 and 11 the connection terminal according to FIG. 9 in front view or Top view, fig. 12 further an embodiment of the connection terminal with a lower and upper sliding contact with respect to the busbar, FIG. 13 and 14 the connection terminal according to FIG. 12 in front view or

Corresponding parts are provided with the same reference symbols in all figures.
Figures 1 to 3 show a preferred embodiment of the screwless terminal 1 in side view, front view and Top view. The connection terminal 1 shown in sections is preferably designed as a so-called terminal block and for this purpose comprises a terminal housing 2, of which only a so-called half-shell provided with inner contours is shown. The connection terminal 1 further comprises within the terminal housing 2 a fixedly arranged busbar 3 and an insulation displacement contact 4 slidably arranged on or on this.
This is U-shaped (Fig. 2) and has 5.6 knife-like cutting edges 7 and / or on their clamping ends bent towards one another on the free ends. 8, between which a cutting and guide slot 9 for insulation displacement contacting via a housing bushing 10 (FIG. 1) is formed into the conductor 11 inserted into the terminal housing 2.
In the longitudinal direction L of the busbar, which is at the same time the displacement or movement direction of the insulation displacement contact 4 along the busbar 3, a further through opening 12 is provided in the terminal housing 2 in front of the through opening 10, via which an actuating tool 13, for example a screwdriver, can be inserted into the terminal housing 2 . The through-opening 12 is designed as a funnel-shaped housing shaft, which tapers conically towards a constriction 14 of the funnel-shaped housing shaft 12, in order to widen conically from there in the direction of the insulation displacement contact 4.
Aligned with this funnel-shaped housing shaft 12 is a dovetail-shaped engagement recess 15, which is introduced into the insulation displacement contact 4 in the area of its cutting edges 7, 8 and into which the actuating tool 13 for moving the insulation displacement contact 4 engages relative to the stationary busbar 3 from the position shown to the position indicated by the dash-dotted lines. The actuating tool 13 is supported in a lever-like manner on the constriction or constriction 14.
In the position shown, the conductor 11 inserted into the terminal housing 2 is fixed in position and held immovably. This is done on the one hand by the wall of the housing bushing 11 and on the other hand by supporting the conductor 11 in a region between the busbar 3 and the cutting edges 7, 8 of the insulation displacement contact 4. For this purpose, guide tabs 16, of which only one is visible, are formed on this in the direction of the housing bushing 10.
These tabs 16 flank the conductor end of the conductor 11 and thus form the lateral support for this. An additional rear support within the terminal housing 2 in the longitudinal direction L of the rail behind the housing bushing 10 forms a free end 18 of an inwardly bent busbar section 19 which is set up parallel to the insertion direction 17 of the conductor 11.
A sliding contact space 21 is formed below the underside 20 of the busbar section 19. In this sliding contact space 21, a sliding tab 22, formed on the underside of the insulation displacement contact 4 opposite the cutting edges 7 and 8, arrives thereon and is set up in the direction of the lead-through opening 10. This is - as shown by the dash-dotted lines - due to a translational displacement of the insulation displacement contact 4 from the uncontacted functional position shown in the dash-dotted contacting functional position on the underside of the bent Stromschienenab section 19.
This creates the electrically conductive connection between the insulation displacement contact 4 and the busbar 3.
In this contacting functional position, in which the cutting edges 7 and 8 penetrate the conductor insulation of the conductor 11 and contact the conductor core, the insulation displacement contact 4 is locked. For this purpose, a latching groove 23 is provided on the or each clamping shaft 16, into which a latching hook 24 which is resiliently molded onto the inner contour of the terminal housing 2 snaps. A further snap connection which snaps in the open position shown is also provided on the rear side of the insulation displacement contact 4 opposite the guide tabs 16. For this purpose, a latching groove 25 is formed in the area of the upper side thereof, into which a resilient latching hook 26 snaps.
FIGS. 4 and 5 show an alternative embodiment of the screwless connecting terminal 1 in an uncontacted or contacted position. Only the functional element of the connection terminal 1, which is again formed from the busbar 3 and the insulation displacement contact 4, is shown for insulation displacement contacting of the conductor 11.
In this embodiment of the connection terminal 1, too, the insulation displacement contact 4 is displaced in an analogous manner in the longitudinal direction of the busbar L and thus in the direction of the conductor 11, which is held immovably and stationary within the terminal housing 2, the insulation displacement contacting in turn due to a cutting through of the conductor insulation 11 a by means of the cutting edges 7 and 8 of the insulation displacement contact 4 up to their contacting with the conductor 11 b.
In contrast to the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 to 3, the electrically conductive connection between the insulation displacement contact 4 and the busbar 3 takes place by means of a side sliding contact. This is realized by grinding tabs 27 molded onto the insulation displacement contact 4, which abut on opposite side edges 28 of the busbar 3. This can be seen comparatively clearly from the exploded view of this functional element shown in FIG. 6.
For this purpose, the inwardly curved grinding tabs 27 of the busbar 4 enclose between them a tailored busbar region 29, which is formed by recesses 30 on both sides of the busbar 3. The recesses 30 thus simultaneously form stop edges 31 and 32 in the contacting or non-contacting functional position of the insulation displacement contact 4, which can be displaced translationally on the busbar 3.
FIGS. 7 and 8 show the insulation displacement contact 4 in a front view or in a top view. In particular in the view according to FIG. 8 is that between the cutting edges 7 and 8 at the free ends of the clamping limbs 5 or bent towards one another 6 formed insertion and cutting slot 9 comparatively clearly visible.
The position of the dovetail engagement recess 15 with respect to the arched grinding tabs 27 on the one hand and a sharpened contour of an insertion slot 33 on the other hand can be seen. Furthermore, Fig. 8 the sleeve-shaped guide 34 for the conductor 11, which extends in front of the cutting slot 9.
FIGS. 9 to 11 again show a further embodiment of the screwless connecting terminal 1 in a side view, a front view or a top view. The terminal block 1, which is otherwise constructed in the same way and with regard to the mode of operation, differs only in the manner of the electrically conductive connection between the insulation displacement contact 4 and the busbar 3 from the embodiments according to FIGS. 1 to 3 and 4 to 8. Here, the connection is realized by means of a sliding contact provided in the center area of the busbar 3. For this purpose, as in particular from FIG. 10 is visible - about
Furthermore, FIGS. 12 to 14 show an embodiment of the electrically conductive connection that is modified or alternative to the embodiment according to FIGS. 9 and 11, for which purpose a sliding contact tab 37 is formed on the insulation displacement contact 4 on the conductor rail section opposite the bent conductor rail section 19. As in Fig. 13 can be seen comparatively clearly — an upper and lower sliding contact with respect to the busbar 3.
For this purpose, the grinding flap 37, which runs transversely to the longitudinal direction L of the busbar, is guided on one side around the busbar 3 from the bottom side of the busbar 38 and is brought up to the top side of the busbar 39. On the free end, this grinding flap 37 is bent out approximately S-shaped in order to achieve a sufficient spring force in the direction of the top side 39 of the busbar. The sliding tab 37 of the insulation displacement contact 4 thus bears against both the bottom side of the busbar 38 and the top side of the busbar 39, so that a reliable electrically conductive connection is established between the insulation displacement contact 4 and the busbar 3.
According to the embodiment according to Fig. 15, the connection terminal 1 comprises an approximately roof-shaped busbar 3 which is arranged in the terminal housing 2 and two contacting elements 4a and 4b which are arranged on the two legs 3a and 3b of the busbar 3 are arranged displaceably. The respective contacting element 4a, 4b comprises the insulation displacement contact 4 and forms a structural unit with it. The connection terminal 1 is accordingly provided with a double-sided insulation displacement contact 4. The legs 3a, 3b of the busbar 3 arranged at an angle to one another enable the connecting terminal 1 to be as narrow as possible. It also improves accessibility from the outside.
The terminal housing 2 has a lead-through opening or a conductor channel 10a, 10b on each side for an electrical conductor 11 and an opening 12a, 12b each as a housing shaft for the engagement of the actuating tool 13.
The actuating tool 13 is preferably a conventional screwdriver. An actuating element 40, which receives the actuating tool 13, is inserted in each of the openings 12a, 12b. The terminal housing 2 has a projection 41 on each side of the opening 12a, 12b. The actuating element 40 is pressed into the terminal housing 2 via a pressure point defined by the projection 41 and held there captively. When assembled, it is accessible from the outside.
In addition to the two insulation displacement contacts 4, the connection terminal 1 additionally has two sockets 42 for plug-in contacting. For example, they are designed to accommodate contact plugs. Terminal 1 therefore offers a total of four connections. It is designed in particular as a terminal block for arrangement on a mounting rail or top hat rail. For this purpose, it has a guide recess 43 on its underside. In the exemplary embodiment, the contacting element 4a shown in the left half of the figure is in the open position and the contacting element 4b shown in the right half of the figure is in the clamping position after contacting the conductor 11.
The clamping position is accordingly the outer end position of the insulation displacement contact 4 on the respective leg 3a, 3b of the busbar 3.
Each contacting element 4a, 4b is again preferably U-shaped and has at its upper end to form the insulation displacement contact 4 two insulation displacement legs bent towards one another, by means of which the conductor insulation 11a is cut and between which the conductor 11 is clamped. To contact the conductor 11, it is inserted through the respective conductor channel 10a, 10b into the corresponding recess or guide 34 of the busbar 3.
After insertion of the conductor 11 into the recess 34, the insulation displacement contact 4, i. H. the corresponding contacting element 4a, 4b moves in the direction of the conductor 11, that is to say from the center of the connection terminal 1 to the outside. The insulation displacement contact 4 cuts on the conductor insulation 11 a and contacts the conductor 11.
To move the insulation displacement contact 4 along the busbar 3, the actuating tool 13 is inserted into the actuating element 40. The latter engages loosely in the recessed engagement recess 15 of the corresponding contacting element 4a, 4b. The actuating element 40 is rotated with the actuating tool 13 about an imaginary axis of rotation 44, and the insulation displacement contact 4 is displaced into the clamping position, for example. The projection 41 formed by the terminal housing 2 acts as an abutment. The actuating element 40 is thus designed as a pivoting lever which can be pivoted about the axis of rotation 44.
It has a wedge-shaped bulge 45 on the outside in its lower region. This acts as a counter bearing to the abutment formed by the projection 41.
The activity! ement 40 receives the actuating tool 13 and guides it in the terminal housing 2. For this purpose, it has a receiving space 46 (FIGS. 16 and 17) which is designed in the manner of a pocket. Accordingly, the actuating tool 13 cannot come into direct contact with the actuating or contacting element 4a, 4b and thus with the cutting-pin contact 4, so that it is protected against damage.
According to Fig. 16, the actuating element 40 is designed as a wedge-shaped pivot lever, the receiving space 46 of which is formed by a likewise wedge-shaped slot 47. The actuating element 40 thus essentially comprises two protective sides, which are arranged when the contacting element 4a, 4b is moved with the respective insulation displacement contact 4 by means of the actuating tool 13 between the latter and the contacting element 4a, 4b, and which the force exerted by the actuating tool 13 on the contacting element 4a, 4b transmitted.
The slotted embodiment enables the actuating element 40 to be inserted very easily into the opening 12a, 12b of the terminal housing 2, since the two side walls of the actuating element 40 are bent toward one another in the process. As soon as the actuating element with its bulge 45 is guided over the pressure point formed by the projection 41, the bulge 45 snaps behind the projection 41. For this purpose, the actuating element 40 is in particular designed to be elastic. Plastic is preferably used as the material, which is particularly advantageous with regard to the desired protective function.
The actuating element 40 has a head 48 at the end, which defines an insertion opening 49 for the actuating tool 13. The insertion opening 49 is completely surrounded by side webs 50 of the head 48.
The head 48 bears a marking 51 on two of its side webs 50, in the exemplary embodiment a "0" and an "I". This marking 51 indicates whether the contact element 4a, 4b is in the clamped position "I" or in the open position "0". Since the head 48 of the actuating element 40 protrudes from the connection terminal 1, the position of the contacting element 4a, 4b and thus of the insulation displacement contact 4 can be clearly recognized from the outside.
In an alternative embodiment, the actuating element 40 according to FIG. 17 shows a display 52 for the direction of movement of the actuating element 40, for example in the clamping position. The display 52 is shown in FIG. 17 formed by a palpable elevation 53 of the head 48. In addition, an arrow 54 is provided on this elevation 53. The display 52 and the marking 51 can be combined with one another.
The main advantage of the connecting terminal 1 with the actuating element 40 can be seen in the fact that the latter prevents damage to the contacting element 4a, 4b and thus the insulation displacement contact 4 by the actuating tool 14. The functionality of terminal 1 is retained even if the contact is repeated and the contact is released. The actuating element 40 thus has a protective function.
In addition, it offers a guide for the actuating tool 13 so that it can be inserted easily and safely. In particular, this prevents the elements provided inside the connection terminal 1 from being injured as a result of the actuating tool 13 being inserted. As a third function, the actuating element 40 also acts as a lever for the actuating tool 13. This is achieved by the shape of the gill housing 2 with the projection 41 and the bulge 45 on the actuating element 40. This configuration also prevents the actuating element 40 from falling out of the connection terminal 1.
A fourth function of the actuating element 40 is in the display for the position of the contacting element 4a, 4b or in the display for the direction of movement to the open position or To see the clamping position.
