Abstract

The invention concerns a package for a bottle including an envelope having parts which are alternatively planar and accordion-folded, and capable of being unfolded to receive a liquid for refrigerating the bottle. Each accordion-folded part is folded on each side of a planar folding line, extending in zigzag from the base of the envelope to a free edge.

Description

The present invention relates, in general, to a packaging made of cardboard or similar material, and particularly a bottle packaging.

More specifically, the invention relates to packaging for bottle, including an envelope made from an impermeable and substantially flat surface, such as a cardboard blank, folded so as to present a bottom and a enveloping wall formed of flat parts alternating with accordion-folded parts, each part folded in accordion being connected to first and second parts adjacent planes by first and second common edges respective joining at the bottom of the envelope to form a main V-fold, and this envelope can be deployed to constitute a container suitable for receiving a liquid capable of refrigerating the bottle which can be placed in this container.

Un emballage de ce type est par exemple connu des documents de brevets US 5 094 359 et DE 1 205 005.A package of this type is for example known from US patent documents 5,094,359 and DE 1,205,005.

As this last document shows in particular, such packaging is particularly usable, in its folded configuration, to protect content from impact relatively fragile such as a bottle of champagne, and, in its deployed configuration, to fulfill the function a champagne bucket.

An essential difficulty that must be overcome realization and use of such packaging lies in the absolute necessity to ensure that this packaging either and remains waterproof, in its deployed configuration, despite possible deformations and surface wear that it could have suffered from its manufacture to its end use.

In this context, the object of the invention is precisely to offer packaging specially designed to meet this requirement.

To this end, the packaging of the invention, moreover conforms to the definition given in the preamble above, is essentially characterized in that each accordion-folded part is folded on both sides a flat fold line extending from the bottom of the envelope to a free edge of this envelope, said flat fold line being a broken line forming a alternative succession of salient and inward angles.

The main advantage of the layout of the invention is that the vertices formed by the lines of fold are distributed along the fold line in zigzag instead of being concentrated in the same area like teaches for example the patent DE 1 205 005, such concentration leading to significant embrittlement of the envelope in the concentration zone.

In the preferred embodiment of the packaging of the invention, each accordion part further comprises first and second common edges which define the fold main in V, internal fold lines which define at least two additional V-folds, the flat fold line passing through respective vertices of the main V-fold and additional V-folds, and additional V-folds are nested one inside the other and homothetic to the main V-fold by translation the along the flat fold line.

Thus, a second advantage of the invention, correlated with first, is that the vertices formed by the lines of folding are, except the top corresponding to the fold main in V, distant from the corners of the envelope, i.e. areas where the envelope is most at risk to undergo impacts and / or wear likely to to break up.

Preferably, the flat parts form bands of equal length, with parallel edges, interconnected by the bottom of the envelope, which is for example a convex polygon of determined order, the plane parts then drawing, when the envelope is laid flat, a star with a number of branches equal to the order of the polygon.

In the simplest embodiment of the invention, the background, which can be a regular polygon, is advantageously at least one relatively low order polygon, for example a square or a rectangle, that is to say a rectangle polygon of order four, the star then taking the form of a cross with four branches.

The packaging may also include a reinforcement fixed to the envelope, for example by gluing, and covering at least partially the bottom and the flat parts of this envelope.

Holding members are advantageously provided to positively retain the envelope in the deployed position container, these holding members comprising by example of the pairs of folding flaps of the reinforcement, a first flap of each pair having a slot, and a second part of this pair with a tab selectively inserted and held captive in the slot.

To better withstand transportation and provide pleasant presentation, the packaging of the invention can further include a case in which the envelope is selectively inserted and held in the stowed position to protect the bottle.

Finally, the envelope is preferably coated, on its internal face at least, of a material resistant to water, such than a PET plus aluminum complex.

  • la figure 1 est une vue en perspective d'un emballage selon cette invention, lequel emballage comprend une enveloppe insérée dans un étui et montrée en position légèrement sortie de l'étui ;
  • la figure 2 est une vue en perspective et en position ouverte de l'enveloppe qui, dans cette position, forme un récipient ou un vase étanche, apte à contenir une bouteille pour la réfrigérer ;
  • la figure 3 est une vue en élévation et de côté, en position ouverte, de l'enveloppe ;
  • la figure 4 est une vue de dessus de l'enveloppe ouverte et présentant la forme d'un récipient ;
Other advantages and characteristics of the invention will appear better in the detailed description which follows and refers to the appended drawings, given only by way of example, and in which:
  • Figure 1 is a perspective view of a package according to this invention, which package comprises an envelope inserted in a case and shown in the position slightly extended from the case;
  • Figure 2 is a perspective view and in the open position of the envelope which, in this position, forms a sealed container or vase, capable of containing a bottle for refrigeration;
  • Figure 3 is an elevational and side view, in the open position, of the envelope;
  • Figure 4 is a top view of the open envelope and having the shape of a container;
  • Figure 5 is a bottom view and in plan of the envelope, in the flat position; and
  • FIG. 6 is a plan view, also in the flat position, of a reinforcement to be fixed on the underside of the envelope visible in FIG. 5.

As can be clearly seen in Figures 1 to 4, a packaging according to this invention includes an envelope 1 made of cardboard or similar material. This envelope generally consists of a number of folded walls, which walls, in the folded position as seen in Figure 1, form a receptacle likely to receive a bottle B, and in position deployed, as seen in Figures 2 to 4, form a container capable of receiving a liquid allowing the refrigeration of bottle B. In this regard, envelope 1 will preferably have on its surface internal 2, an impermeable coating, such as a film metallized polymer, for example a PET complex plus aluminum.

Revenant à la figure 1, on voit qu'en position repliée, l'enveloppe 1 est insérable dans un étui 3 qui peut être une boíte classique en carton avec couvercle 4.Returning to Figure 1, we see that in position folded, the envelope 1 can be inserted in a case 3 which can be a classic cardboard box with cover 4.

According to the example shown, the flat walls 6 are four in number and have a shape rectangular forming part of the vertical wall of the envelope. These flat parts 6, when the envelope is flat as shown in Figure 5, form a cross at four branches of equal length and width and of which the intersection forms the square bottom 5 of the envelope, which receives the bottom of bottle B.

As is clearly visible in Figures 2 to 5, the vertical and accordion-folded parts 7, are they also four in number which each have a square shape in the flat position (Figure 5) and which have a certain number of fold lines.

These fold lines, for each part folded in accordion 7, define two n homothetic V 8,9 projecting towards the inside of the envelope 1 and the tips 10, when the envelope is flat, are directed towards the center of the bottom 5 of this envelope. These lines of fold also define a fold 15 also projecting towards the inside of the packaging and ending at the edge free 12 of the packaging.

It is clearly seen in Figure 5, that a branch 8a, 9a of the two V 8, 9 is parallel to the edge 6a of one flat parts 6 while being connected to said part plane, while the other branch 8b, 9b of the two Vs nested 8, 9 is parallel to the edge 6b of a flat part neighbor by being connected to said flat part. Well obviously, the two nested Vs 8.9 visible on the Figures 2 to 4, each form a right angle to the tip 10, when the envelope 1 is flat, and has a square bottom as seen in figure 5. In this figure, we have shown in dotted lines the fold lines in projection on the inside of the envelope, and in solid lines, the inside fold lines of the envelope which forms a container as explained previously.

As can be understood from Figure 5, each part folded in accordion 7, also includes a zigzag fold line 11 located in a passing plane in particular by the point 10 of the two nested Vs 8, 9. This zigzag or broken fold line 11 leads on the one hand to the intersection of two neighboring flat parts 6 and the other leaves at the top 16 of each folded part 7, passing through the fold 15, which vertex 16 is on the free edge 12 of envelope 1. More precisely, the lines alternately solid and dotted lines showing the fold line 11 in FIG. 5, show that said line is made up by a succession of lines broken alternately in hollow and protruding.

We will also observe that all the lines of folding of each part 7 folded in accordion define between them, walls of substantially equal width. Thus, the wall between the fold line 8a and the edge 6a a flat part 6 has a width substantially equal to that of the wall formed between the fold line 8a and a intermediate fold line 13 between said line 8a and the fold line 9a, to that of the wall formed between the fold line 13 and fold line 9a, and to that formed between the fold line 9 and a last line of folding 14 provided at the corner of each angle that forms flat the cardboard blank which constitutes the envelope. In addition, folds 14 define a square with the free edge 12 in each outer corner of the envelope flat. We understand so that the successive fold lines 14, 9, 13, and 8 form as many Vs with branches parallel to each other and with the edge 6a of the flat parts 6, it being understood, as explained above, that the fold line 11 is consisting of lines alternately broken in hollow and in projection with reversal of the direction of these lines broken at the intersection of fold line 11 with the tip of all V.

In short, as can be seen in Figures 2, 3 and 4, each part 7 folded in accordion and connected to two neighboring flat parts 6 is formed of a plurality alternately protruding and re-entering dihedrons which converge towards the center of the bottom 5 of the package 1 and this on either side of the plane containing the line of zigzag fold 11 which, when packaging 1 is in flat position, as seen in Figure 5, passes through the center of the square wall forming the bottom 5 of packaging.

We have shown at 20 in FIG. 6, a reinforcement of the envelope which has a cross shape identical to the cross shape of the four walls 6 visible in the figure 5. This reinforcement, in cardboard for example, can be fixed by bonding to the outer surface of the envelope in position exactly superimposed on the flat walls 6 and on the background 5.

We can still see in Figure 6 that the reinforcement cruciform 20 has on one side two opposite flaps 21 each comprising a fold line 22 and bearing at their end a hook-shaped part 23, while, on the other hand, and opposite the aforementioned components, are provided two other flaps 24 with fold lines 25 and each having a slot 26 with which it can cooperate the hook-shaped portion 23. More precisely, the reinforcement 20 is formed by two branches 27, 28 at right angles, flaps 21 and 24 being located on either side of the branch 28. We have shown in 29 and 30 fold lines flaps 24, 21 respectively with respect to the branch 27 of reinforcement 20. We also see at 31 the edges cut and free that comprise the flaps 21, 24.

Thus, as it appears clearly in Figures 2 and 3, the flaps 21 and 24 of the reinforcement 20 are folded against the flat walls 6 of the envelope 1 or, more exactly, against respectively the two halves of branch 28 of the reinforcement 20 which are superimposed on said flat walls 6. Thus, the hook-shaped parts 23 are introduced in their respective slots 26 where they can slide. Therefore, when the envelope 1 has left its case 3 as we can understand by referring to the Figure 1, this envelope is deployed by partially flaring high to form the container visible in Figures 2 and 3, it being understood that during this deployment, the parties in hook shape 23 will slide in the slots 26, and this until said hook-shaped portions 23 abut at the end 26a of said slots 26, that is to say at a point where the slots 26 each form an elbow clearly visible in Figures 2, 3 and 6. Thus, the envelope 1 will be locked for a given open position and suitable for constituting a container suitable for receiving a liquid capable of refrigerating the contents of the bottle B housed in said container.

We therefore produced according to the invention a packaging for bottles that can be transformed almost instantly into a container or vase for presentation and refrigeration of said bottle.

Of course, the invention is in no way limited to described and illustrated embodiment which has not been given as an example, but on the contrary extends to all packaging that meets the definition that give the claims.
