Description

The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for labeling or printing containers that can be stacked one inside the other, in particular flower pots.

A method and an apparatus for labeling are in practice Known flower pots, the flower pots individually a labeling device be fed. After labeling, the individual Flower pots stacked, packed in boxes and shipped. This well known The disadvantage of this method is that the labeling speed is comparatively high is low. Furthermore, a method for printing is from practice known from flower pots, in the same way as the labeling process is carried out, except that it is not labeled but printed. Also at In this process, the printing speed is comparatively slow.

A method for labeling or is already known from US Pat. No. 4,148,683 Printing of stackable containers according to the generic term of Claim 1 and an apparatus for performing this method out. However, the known method is discontinuous and due to its discontinuous mode of operation is relatively complex. High labeling speeds cannot be achieved with this batch process become.

The object of the present invention is a method and an apparatus for labeling or printing containers that can be stacked one inside the other to provide, in which the container in a simple manner and with can be labeled or printed at high speed.

The aforementioned object is essentially according to the invention by the The method specified in claim 1 or that in claim 8 specified device solved. The advantage of the invention lies in the result in the fact that an almost endless stack of containers to be labeled or printed is fed, the stack only for labeling or printing at short notice interrupted and reassembled after labeling or printing becomes. This means essentially the same orientation the conveying direction and the stacking direction immediately before and immediately after labeling that the directions are essentially coaxial or are essentially parallel to each other. The high labeling or Printing speed in the method according to the invention or in the invention So device ultimately results from the short-term Unstacking an endless stack for labeling or printing. Experiments have shown that the invention achieves a labeling speed of up to eight applied labels per second can be.

It should also be noted that the invention is preferred in the field the flower pots are used. However, the invention can be used the aforementioned principle of short-term unstacking according to the invention an inherently continuous stack for all other types of carry out stackable containers, such as cream or yoghurt cups. The following explanations therefore apply to all stackable ones Container accordingly.

It is preferably further provided that the magazine device is a elongated guide for the stack to be labeled or printed Containers and that the magazine device a feed conveyor belt for transferring the container into the guide. in principle it is possible to label or print the container horizontally or obliquely arranged condition of the containers. The essentially standing arrangement of the is particularly advantageous Containers when labeling or printing, as in this case after labeling or printing gravity to feed the just labeled or printed container in the stack of labeled or printed Container can be used. The one just labeled or printed containers then fall into the stack of labeled ones or printed container and automatically stacks again. In terms of design, this is achieved in that the guide in the area of the labeling or printing device has an approximately vertical orientation.

In view of the high labeling or printing speed that the ensure the method according to the invention and the device according to the invention, it makes sense that the container of the magazine device in Stack form are fed. There are two basic options for this namely on the one hand the supply of the containers such that the Stacking direction and the direction of conveyance during feeding via a feed conveyor belt are the same. Ultimately, the magazine device a single, almost endless stack fed, always manually or mechanically is refilled. The other possibility is that the Direction of conveyance during feeding via the feed conveyor belt by 90 ° is offset from the stacking direction. In this case, individual stacks are always in the magazine device introduced. The construction is to realize the aforementioned alternative of feeding the stack of containers in such a way that the stacking direction and the conveying direction are the same, provided that the guide at its end facing the feed conveyor in the direction is inclined on the feed conveyor belt. In the other alternative embodiment are receptacles for arrangement on the feed conveyor belt Stack of containers to be labeled or printed provided. The individual smaller stacks are then fed from the feed conveyor in those in the management of the magazine device Stack thrown in.

Because flower pots and other containers stackable one inside the other are different Sizes, it is of particular advantage if the unstacking device and the labeling or printing device in the x, y and / or z direction are adjustable relative to each other. As a result, the invention Device can be adapted to any circumstances.

The at least partial unstacking of the containers for labeling or Printing can be done using various constructional means. At a Alternatively, the unstacking device has two periodically engaging in the stack Arms up. While holding one of these arms on the one hand to be labeled or printed container and on the other hand to then pulling the container out of the stack after the If labeling or printing is used, the other Ann is used exclusively for Holding the stack in the magazine device over the one to be labeled or printing container. In another alternative embodiment is a snail with one towards the labeling or printing device getting bigger and towards the labeling or Printing device away from the increasing pitch of the worm gear intended. This configuration offers the additional advantage that on the the opposite side of the labeling or printing device during and after labeling or printing always a guide for the Container is provided. Finally, the unstacking device can also on opposite sides preferably at about a right angle to Have driven rotating means labeling or printing direction, which at least partially unstacking the containers in the area of the labeling or effect printing device. Otherwise, of course, too other basic options for unstacking are given.

The printing of the container can be done in any known manner Printing. Preferably the ink is sprayed onto the container. The printing device then has no direct contact with the container. The labeling can be done in different ways. On the one hand, it is basically possible to roll up the labels. Preferably however, the labels are applied pneumatically, i.e. H. on inflated the respective container. This also enables a high labeling speed the device or the method. Since it happen can that the labels are not completely on the respective containers is intended to ensure a smooth process, that the labels after application in an additional pressing step be pressed before the just labeled container is fed to the stack of labeled containers. This is constructive solved that immediately after the labeling device pressing means for pressing the label on the container are provided, the pressing means in a simple embodiment Have brush threads or another elastic material.

Especially in connection with the previously mentioned pressing means, however in principle, even if these pressure means are not provided it is important if immediately after labeling or printing an in the tank directed surge is generated to re-stack or the downward movement of the just labeled or printed Accelerate the container. A pneumatic is designed for this Pressure surge device for generating in a container immediately after the labeling or printing directed pressure surges.

For the continuous removal of the labeled or printed containers To ensure, it is provided during the removal that the stack is labeled or printed container on a discharge conveyor belt of the discharge device is fed, the conveying and stacking direction of the stacked containers on the discharge conveyor are the same. constructive is a guide in the discharge conveyor following the unstacking device and the aforementioned following the tour Discharge conveyor belt provided to the stack of labeled or printed Feed the container to the discharge conveyor.

Since labeled or printed containers usually form smaller stacks are sold packaged in boxes, is within the scope of the invention The method additionally provided that the endless stack was labeled or printed containers on the discharge conveyor belt in smaller stacks with a given amount of labeled or printed containers occasionally, the smaller stacks are thrown off the discharge conveyor and preferably roll straight into a cardboard box. For this purpose, a separation device is constructive, particularly in the area the end of the discharge conveyor belt. Manufacture of smaller ones Stacking provided with a predetermined amount of containers, wherein a discharge device is provided after the separating device can be. This can be moved transversely to the conveying direction Have sliders of the individual small stacks over a corresponding one Throws ramp.

The entire labeling or printing process according to the invention is preferred controlled by an appropriate control device. The speeds the infeed conveyor, the outfeed conveyor, the unstacking, labeling or printing and / or separating and / or the dropping is adjustable and in particular coordinated with one another in such a way that there is a continuous labeling or printing process.

The method according to the invention and the device according to the invention are suitable especially when small labels or print areas on the Containers are to be applied. In this case, a short-term is sufficient Unstack to do labeling or printing. After the labeling or printing process, the container in question stacked again, the conveying direction and the stacking direction immediately are coaxial before and immediately after labeling. If bigger Labels or print areas are to be applied to the container, it is advisable to stack the container in question completely removed. In this case, the container is then a conveyor, which moves approximately transverse to the stacking direction. On the conveyor, which is, for example, a turntable or an elongated guide in the form of a conveyor belt can also act, the container in question is then freely accessible so that the container in question Label or the printing can be applied. With very long labels or pressure areas, the container in the area of the conveyor can be rotated around its central axis up to 360 °. The Rotation of the respective container can be done on two opposite ones Laterally arranged, relatively moving guide rail realized that are in contact with the container. By the relative movement of the guide rails and the one in between The container is rotated. One can the guide rails are even designed as label dispensers or printheads be so that during the rotation of the container the label or Printing can be applied. After labeling or printing the container in question is again labeled or printed container supplied, so that ultimately a continuous stack Container is discharged.

1 corresponding view of another embodiment of a device according to the invention.

A device 1 for labeling containers, such as flower pots, is shown schematically in the figures 2 shown. The device 1 has a magazine device 3 for magazining and guiding a stack 4a to be labeled Flower pots 2, which are preferably made of plastic, a labeling device 5 for applying labels 6, an unstacking device 7 for at least partially unstacking the flower pots 2 for labeling and one Removal device 8 for in particular continuous removal of the stacked label flower pots 2. It is not shown that the inventive Device also used for printing flower pots can be. In this case there is a printing device instead of the labeling device intended. The following explanations therefore apply also correspondingly for a device working with a printing device 1.

As can be seen from the two figures, the magazine device 3 an elongated guide 9 to be labeled as a magazine for the stack 4a Flower pots 2 on. The guide 9 can be seen in cross-section pipe or be angular. Furthermore, the magazine device 3, a feed conveyor belt 10 for transferring that onto the feed conveyor belt 10 flower pots 2 in the guide 9.

While in both embodiments the guide 9 in the area of the labeling device 5 has an approximately vertical orientation, is in the in Fig. 1st illustrated embodiment provided that the guide 9 at its the Feed conveyor belt 10 facing end towards the feed conveyor belt 10 is inclined or bent. Otherwise, as can be seen from FIG. 1, the feed conveyor belt 10 descending at a flat angle to the guide 9 inclined. Smaller stacks 4c are lying on the feed conveyor belt 10 placed and are then passed over the tape to the guide 9 where they refill the stack 4a. In contrast, there are 10 on the conveyor belt Recordings 11 for the arrangement of standing piles 4c of flower pots 2 are provided. The guide 9 extends vertically over its entire length Direction and protrudes beyond the feed conveyor belt 10. Here are the individual stacks 4c are thrown into the guide 9 at the end of the belt and also stack in the stack 4a.

The labeling device 5 is with its labeling area 12 below the Guide 9 arranged. The labeling device 5 works pneumatically - the respective labels 6 are thus inflated onto the flower pots 2. This can happen at very high speeds, namely up to at eight labels per second.

The unstacking device 7 is located opposite the labeling device 5 arranged. The unstacking device 7 and the labeling device 5 are adjustable in all directions relative to each other. Because of this adjustability the distance between the flowerpot 2 to be labeled and the The labeling area 12 of the labeling device 5 is set to a few millimeters to ensure quick and easy application of the labels to ensure. In the illustrated embodiment, the unstacking device 7 otherwise pivotally mounted, so that the unstacking device 7 can be pivoted away from the labeling device 5 to ensure quick and easy access to the labeling area 12, what is necessary in the event of any malfunctions. You can use the Unstacking device 7 the guide 9 to be connected for better accessibility to ensure the labeling device 5. But this must not necessarily be the case.

In the illustrated embodiment, the unstacking device 7 has a first arm 13 and a second arm 14. The first arm 13 holds the each flower pot to be labeled 2. After labeling, moves the first arm 13 goes down a little and pulls the just labeled flowerpot 2 out of the stack 4a. The second Ann 14 above holds meanwhile stuck the stack 4a. This can be done with a lying U-shaped receptacle be provided on the second arm 14, which has a protruding edge grips the penultimate or last flowerpot 2 of the stack 4a. Subsequently the second arm 14 is moved down a little. Then the first one takes effect Arm 13 again, while the second arm 14 again the penultimate Flower pot 2 of stack 4a engages. Other configurations of the unstacking device 7 are possible. This has already been discussed in more detail above Service.

At the bottom, the labeling device 5 or the unstacking device 7 a guide 15 of the discharge device 8. The Guide 15 can be designed in a similar manner to guide 9. It is important that the lower end of the guide 9 with the upper end of the Guide 15 is aligned, the guides 9, 15 thus directly into one another pass over and are only interrupted at the point where the concerned Intervention means of the unstacking device 7 on the one hand and the labeling area 12 of the labeling device 5 on the other hand.

In addition to the guide 15, the discharge device 8 has a discharge conveyor belt 16 on. The guide 15 thus serves the stack 4b of labeled flower pots 2 feed the discharge conveyor belt 16.

It is not shown that 5 pressing means following the labeling device for pressing on the label applied to the flowerpot 2 6 are provided. These pressing means can be used, for example, as brush threads immediately below the labeling area 12 or at the beginning of the Guide 15 may be provided. Furthermore, it is not shown that a pneumatic pressure surge device can be provided for acceleration the downward movement of the just labeled flower pots 2 in the each just labeled flower pot produces 2 directed pressure surges.

The arm 18 engages in the endless stack 4b of labeled flower pots 2 and unstacked a smaller stack 4d with a predetermined one Quantity of labeling or printing flower pots 2.

The ejection device 19 also has an arm 20, which can be moved back and forth to move the individual small stacks 4d from the Push down conveyor belt 16. The small stacks 4d then roll via a ramp 21 into a carton 22 placed there.

The method according to the invention for labeling flower pots 2 is running now as follows. Flower pots 2 are stacked by an operator either in the stack 4a lying on the feed conveyor belt 10 inserted or as a separate small stack 4c on the feed conveyor belt 10 placed so that an almost endless stack 4a of flower pots 2 in the Magazine device 3 or the guide 9 results, or the individual Smaller stacks 4c are manually inserted into the respective receptacles 11 on the feed conveyor belt 10 set and from there into the magazine Guide 9 thrown in. The stack 4a presses due to gravity downward. The two arms 13, 14 prevent slipping of the Stack 4a of the not yet labeled flower pots 2. On the function of the both arms 13, 14 have already been discussed in more detail above. To the at least partial unstacking of the stack 4a for labeling just labeled flowerpot 2 pulled off arm 4 from stack 4a. This flowerpot then falls into the, supported by a pressure surge Guide 15 and stacks there in the stack 4b labeled flower pots 2 again. Via the guide 15, which does not even extend to the belt 16 must, the stack 4b is placed on the discharge conveyor 16 and then over the separating device 17 again in small, in the box 22 fitting Stack 4d isolated. The individual smaller stacks 4d will eventually via the discharge device 19 from the discharge conveyor belt 16 into the carton 22 discarded.
