- turbocharged engines In contrast to conventional naturally aspirated engines, it is particularly important with turbocharged engines whether the engine is operated with a stationary load (ie constant injection quantity) or unsteady load. This is because, in turbocharged engines, the exhaust gas stream drives a turbine, which in turn acts on a compressor that pushes the fresh air into the combustion chamber. If more fuel is injected into the combustion chamber, the higher energy in the exhaust gas results in a higher boost pressure. The boost pressure therefore depends heavily on the injection quantity. At a steady operating point (speed and load constant), this results in a balanced state, ie the turbocharger rotates at a constant speed. Such a balanced state does not exist in the case of transient load states.

- the quality of a good adaptation of the smoke map is usually assessed by observing the maximum smoke burst on the one hand and determining the duration until 90% of the steady-state full-load torque Md VL (stat.) Is available. From Fig. 4 it can be seen that this duration in the basic state (without rail pressure increase and additional injection quantity increase) is about 2.7 seconds. With the rail pressure increase provided according to the invention and an additional increase in the limit quantity in the smoke map, this duration is shortened to 1.9 seconds, which corresponds to a reduction of approximately 30%. The measures according to the invention therefore provide a higher acceleration torque and a static full-load torque that is reached more quickly.

Abstract
Description
dem Oberbegriff des Patentanspruchs 1.The present invention relates to a method for control
a common rail injection system for internal combustion engines,
especially for turbo-chargeable diesel engines
the preamble of
The requirements for a successful application of a Diesel injection systems consist of a given Injection equipment such as possible variation parameters that vary in terms of exhaust emissions, fuel consumption and noise development achieved optimal results can be.
In addition to variations in the components used, for example Nozzles, injectors, etc. are common rail systems as the usual variation parameters the start of spraying, the Rail pressure and any additional injections.
In the case of transient processes, such as a sudden one Load increase on a turbocharged diesel engine arises a sudden boost pressure deficit, which leads to a sudden can significantly increase the soot emission. At a such a boost pressure deficiency becomes conventional by limiting the maximum injection quantity as a function of boost pressure counteracted. Extended by this measure however, the time required to deploy of the full engine torque.
In contrast to conventional naturally aspirated engines, it is particularly important with turbocharged engines whether the engine is operated with a stationary load (ie constant injection quantity) or unsteady load. This is explained with the aid of an example: It is assumed that an engine is rotating at a speed N 1 , which is assigned a maximum permissible injection quantity Me1, a boost pressure p 1 and a corresponding air quantity M L1 , which is supplied by the turbocharger . However, if the engine is transiently switched to this mode, the injection quantity Me is suddenly increased from a small quantity to the value Me 1 . The turbocharger delivers a boost pressure p 2 that is less than p 1 . In the case of an unsteady increase in load, this leads to a lack of boost pressure and therefore combustion air, and the combustion to deteriorate. In this case, the engine would emit a burst of smoke during the transient load increase. This smoke burst is not only visible, but also has a very negative effect on the particle result in a transient exhaust gas test.
To prevent such a smoke burst or at least to reduce, it is known, with transient increase in load the injection quantity depending on the speed and the Limit boost pressure (so-called smoke map).
From US 4,841,936 is a fuel injection control device an internal combustion engine, in which a Number of injectors one under pressure Fuel collection chamber are assigned. There are also drive means to control the fuel to be dispensed as well Control means for adjusting the pressure in the pressure chamber to a predetermined value.
The object of the invention is to provide control of a Common rail injection system with which the total particle emission compared to conventional solutions in can be reduced in a simple manner.
This problem is solved by a method with the features
of
Vorteilhafte Ausgestaltungen des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens sind Gegenstand der Unteransprüche.Advantageous embodiments of the method according to the invention are the subject of the subclaims.
The rail pressure is expedient when the engine load is unsteady regarding the rail pressure with stationary engine load with the same injection quantities each by a constant Amount increased. Such an addition of a constant The value of a stationary characteristic is control-related can be carried out in a simple and uncomplicated manner.
A preferred differential rail pressure amount is 200-400 bar, especially 300 bar. Such rail pressure increases are easy to implement and lead to advantageous ones Changes in the characteristics of the internal combustion engine. However, it should be noted that the rail pressure increase or Difference rail pressure amount does not have to be constant, and the specified pressure values only given as an example are. The rail pressure increase can be chosen freely, and can, for example depending on the engine parameters speed, Load, or other parameters, can be optimized.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention The procedure is a maximum permissible injection quantity per engine stroke as a function of turbocharger pressure of the internal combustion engine in the first, stationary or quasi-stationary Load state according to a first characteristic curve, and in the second, transient load state according to a second Characteristic curve set, the maximum permissible injection quantity in the case of a transient load state with regard to the maximum permissible injection quantity for stationary or quasi-stationary Load condition increased at the same boost pressure is. By this measure of raising the maximum Injection quantity with transient load increase is an optimal one Raising the engine torque with a transient increase in load can be achieved depending on a boost pressure. The full engine torque is only available when the boost pressure over a certain point of a smoke map line goes out and the injection quantity, depending on the speed, may no longer be increased. Through the combination the increase of the rail pressure or injection pressure according to the invention and the simultaneous increase in the limit amount in the so-called smoke map result in particular The following advantages: With the same maximum turbidity (Target value of the quantity increase in the smoke map) shortened the smoke burst, and the total particle emission is reduced. The full engine torque is compared traditional solutions reached earlier and during the load increase the driver is responsible higher torque available. Obtained while driving this has advantages in starting and acceleration behavior. Overall, the efficiency is one over the Method controlled motor according to the invention during the Rail pressure increase improved, which for example leads to a leads to lower specific consumption. The realization the method according to the invention can be carried out in software, conventionally already existing EDC sensors can be used.
It proves to be particularly useful that the injection differential amount 15 - 25, in particular 21 mg / stroke. With such difference amounts, the duration is up to, for example, about 90% of the stationary full-load torque is available to be shortened by about 30%. Further stands up to the driver during an unsteady phase 20% higher torque available. The differential injection amount or the increase in the injection quantity must are also not necessarily chosen to be constant, the values given here are only examples are communicated. The limit values can also be found here Can be freely chosen within the scope of an optimization.

In contrast to cam-operated systems, there is common rail systems the possibility of the injection pressure in the Free choice of system boundaries. In the so-called Rail pressure map is the rail pressure depending on Speed and injection quantity Me stored. For a constant Speed, the rail pressure is the only one Function of the injection quantity Me. Such a rail pressure curve for a constant speed is 10 in FIG designated. It can be seen that with increasing injection quantity An increase in rail pressure is planned. At higher Injection volumes can make the curve of the rail pressure curve flat (constant rail pressure) or steadily increasing his.
Raildruckverlaufes (Kurve 10) ab.The basic idea of the present invention lies
now in a temporary increase in the rail pressure during
a phase of the transient load or full load of the engine.
This increase in rail pressure compared to stationary
Case is shown in Fig. 1 by means of
The increased rail or injection pressure results in better atomization and thus a significantly lower smoke burst. Overall, in the representation of FIG. 1, during the phase of the unsteady full load there is a curve from
Mit einer stationären Vollast-Einspritzmenge Me1 = 185 mg/Hub ergibt sich für das dargestellte Beispiel ein stationäres Vollastdrehmoment MdVL(stat.) von 1500 Nm.2 shows the result that can be achieved for an engine at a speed of rotation N = 1000 1 / min (= constant) using the rail pressure increase described. The time is shown on the abscissa, the available torque on the left ordinate and the exhaust turbidity on the right ordinate. Curves A, B show the available torque as a function of time, and curves C, D the exhaust gas turbidity as a function of time during an unsteady full load. The solid lines each show the curves when using the rail pressure increase according to the invention, the dashed curves show the state without rail pressure increase. The exhaust gas turbidity is determined, for example, with a light absorption measuring device (Celesco turbidity). With a stationary full-load injection quantity Me 1 = 185 mg / stroke, a stationary full-load torque Md VL (stat.) Of 1500 Nm results for the example shown.
Dies führt dazu, daß sich hierbei keine Änderung des Drehmomentverlaufs ergibt (Kurven A, B).It can be seen that without increasing the rail pressure when increasing the load there is a maximum turbidity of about 8% (Curve D). It corresponds to a Bosch density factor of about 3.2. Now becomes the rail pressure during the load increase is increased (in the example shown by 300 bar) only emitted a maximum turbidity of 2% (curve C) what corresponds to a density of about 1.7. The quantity limit with the unsteady full load not changed. This means that there are none A change in the torque curve results (curves A, B).
Here is the maximum allowable injection quantity Me depending on that by means of a turbocharger provided (corrected) boost pressure p shown. Curve F (shown in broken lines) represents the characteristic curve for a transient partial load, curve G the characteristic for an unsteady full load, and curve H the characteristic curve provided according to the invention for a transient Full load with an increase in the limit quantity in the case a rail pressure increase.
Traditionally, the engine was transferred
from a static partial load (curve F) to a transient one
Full load operation is a transition from the characteristic curve F
to the characteristic curve G. That is, it was, accordingly
a transition from
Erfindungsgemäß ist nun vorgesehen, in einem derartigen
Fall eine zusätzliche Erhöhung der Einspritzmenge zuzulassen,
wie mittels der Kennlinie H dargestellt ist. Man erkennt,
Maßnahme besteht also darin, die maximal zulässige
According to the invention, it is now provided in such

At full load, there is therefore an increase in the injection quantity of
This additional increase in the limit amount will the burst of smoke increased again to the permissible original value. In trials, the limit amount was over the whole Transient full load curve (curve H) versus Static full load curve (curve G, which remains unchanged remained) increased by ΔMe = 21 Me / stroke.

The results that can be achieved with this measure are shown in FIG. 4 shown. The curves A, B symbolize the Torque curve over time with transient Full load, and curves D, E the corresponding turbidity. The solid lines show states in which a rail pressure increase and an increased maximum injection quantity are provided, the dashed lines Base state according to Fig. 2, i.e. without rail pressure increase and without the additional increase in the maximum injection quantity according to the characteristic curve H of FIG. 3.
4 three major advantages point out that with the presented combination of Rail pressure increase and additional increase in the maximum Injection quantity can be achieved: The maximum value of the turbidity is not reduced compared to the initial state (each about 8% for curves C, D), the integrated turbidity (Area under curve C or D) is smaller, because the transient phase shortens. This means one Reduction of total particle emissions.
The quality of a good adaptation of the smoke map is usually assessed by observing the maximum smoke burst on the one hand and determining the duration until 90% of the steady-state full-load torque Md VL (stat.) Is available.
After all, the full torque is not only reached earlier, it also occurs during the unsteady phase up to 20% higher torque available. For one Driving mode with constantly changing accelerator pedal position is this is a significant advantage.
The advantages that can be achieved according to the invention are final summarized once again: Will in a sudden Load increase on a turbocharged diesel engine during an unsteady phase of injection pressure (in comparison to steady state) and at the same time the limit quantity also increased in the so-called smoke map, The following effects result: With the same maximum Exhaust gas turbidity (target value of the quantity increase in the smoke map) the burst of smoke is shortened and the total particle emission is reduced. The full torque is compared conventional solutions at an earlier point in time reached. The driver has a higher one during the load increase Torque available, which results in driving There are advantages in starting and acceleration behavior. The efficiency of the engine is increased during the rail pressure increase improved (lower specific consumption).
