Description

The present invention relates to a water heater for heating water for domestic use according to the preamble of claim 1.

Such a flow heater with a safety device is described in DE-196 05 187 A1 and is e.g. used in coffee and tea machines. For normal operation, such household appliances are equipped with a safety switch, which interrupts the power supply of the household appliance in temperature limit case and in case of failure in cooperation with the temperature controller. In general, this temperature fuse is sufficient to the device, for. in case of failure of the temperature controller, which is usually equipped with a bimetal to disconnect from the electrical supply. However, if a short circuit occurs in an unfavorable phase position and defective temperature controller, such that Heizleiterbereiche a tubular heater are electrically connected to a protective conductor, then an uncontrolled heating of the tubular heater can take place and lead to endangering the environment.

To control such an error case, a thermal fuse is described in the aforementioned DE 196 05 187 A1, in which a standing under mechanical bias, by melting the solder dissolving conductor interrupts the power supply to the tubular heater of the water heater. However, the above-mentioned solution requires a special, the soldering bearing connecting element to the terminal bolt of the tubular heater. In this case, the connecting element consists of a flat soldering shoe, which establishes a solid connection from the connecting bolt to the conductor with the assistance of the solder through the larger soldering surface. Apart from the additional cost of materials, the application of such a connecting element leads to increased manufacturing costs, in particular, the soldering must be flat and wide. This is a problem with a round and relatively thin wire.

It is therefore an object of the present invention to simplify the water heater structurally in terms of manufacturing, without affecting the achieved level of reliability and at the same time to increase their functionality and safety.

This object is achieved in the water heater of the type described above by the features mentioned in claim 1. Due to the direct soldering of the conductor to the connecting bolt of the heating element as a result of the special shape of the terminal end of the conductor, the connecting element used hitherto is no longer necessary. The inventive design of the conductor end, it is possible that the space enclosed by the conductor end space is full or largely filled with solder, and this in particular because liquid solder can span surfaces up to a certain size (drop size) and this overvoltage so long Hold until the solder is cool and hard. Moreover, this is advantageous in automatic manufacturing for safe positioning. In this case, the wire can also partially surround the connecting bolt via one or more subsections, which then produce an intimate soldering connection with the connecting bolt during the soldering process.

Due to the special shape of the terminal end of the conductor, the soldering area between the conductor end and the contact lug of the heater is increased. The invention can be used particularly advantageously with conductors which are round in cross-section (claim 2). But there are also oval, rectangular or otherwise designed as a cross-section connecting bolts possible, are adapted to the outer surface of the course of the conductor end substantially over one or more sections.

However, a round or oval wire provides a partially completely closed connection surface on the connecting bolt.

Manufacturing technology, it is also advantageous that the conductor is designed according to claims 3 and 4. Through these measures, the above-mentioned features can be realized in a particularly simple and effective manner, wherein the conductor end surrounds the lateral surface of the connecting bolt only over a certain subarea or lies there only partially with its portion on the lateral surface of the connecting bolt due to non-circular manufacturing tolerances.

In particular, from the point of view of automated production and reliable placement of the conductor on the connecting bolt is further provided in claim 5 that the solder joint at a sufficient distance from the end of the connecting bolt in Direction of the heating element is arranged and the conductor does not exceed the end of the connecting bolt.

Overall, it is advantageous for the solutions indicated if the conductor is a cross-sectionally round spring wire.

By the features of claim 6, a saving of required components and a resulting simplification of the production and installation of the water heater is achieved with good adherence to the predetermined Abreißwerte in case of failure. The inventive large-area soldering by means of round wires, a stable safety device of a working additionally as a fuse connection point is achieved.

The flow heater 22 according to FIG. 1 consists of a water pipe 20 with which a heating element 30 is in close thermal contact. As can be seen from Fig. 1, protrude from the heating element 30 with the electrical insulation 31 and 32 surrounded, circular in cross-section connecting bolts 12 and 14, which are connected to the insulator embedded in the heating element 30 heating wires (not shown). The safety device consists of the conductor 1, which is fixedly attached to a first connection point 40 of a heater 24 fixed to the flow heater 22 at the point 21 thermoregulator. The thermoregulator 24 controls the temperature of the water heater 22. About the connection point 40 and the power supply from the controller 24 via the conductor 1 to the connecting pin 12 and thus guided to the heating wire.

The consisting of a spring wire conductor 1 is provided in FIG. 1 in its course with a U-shaped deformation 41; their meaning is shown in detail in the aforementioned DE-196 05 187 A1,

For the connection of the conductor 1 with the heating element 30 of the connecting bolt 12 is provided with a second connection point 10, as shown in Figures 1 to 4. At this connection point 10 towards the conductor 1 is resiliently pressed during manufacture and soldered over a large area by solder, but this is only hinted at in Fig. 2.

In case of overheating of the heating element as a result of a defect, for. B. a short circuit, a strong heating occurs in the region of the connection point 10 of the connecting bolt 12. Thus, the solder accumulating in the area of the loop-shaped end 23 of the conductor 1 during the soldering process (FIG. 2) is softened and melts. Since the conductor 1 is pressed with a bias to the terminal pin 12 and soldered, the conductor 1 springs with molten solder 15 away from the terminal pin 12 and the current flow is interrupted by; There is thus no further heating. In Fig. 2, both states of the conductor 1 are shown, ie the soldered to the terminal pin 12 by solder 15 state of the conductor 1 and the separate from the terminal pin 12 and wegbewegte state of the conductor 1 '. In Figures 1 and 3, two states of the conductor 1 are shown, but only the voltage applied to the terminal pin 12 conductor 1 before the soldering and the remote from the terminal pin 12 conductor 1 '

As can be seen from FIG. 4, the end 23 of the conductor 1 is formed flat by the loop-shaped shaping, so that a sufficiently large, defined area 11 to be wetted by the solder 15 (FIG. 3) is formed, which is additionally assisted by that the contact surfaces (not shown) at the connection point 10, that is, that of the conductor 1 and that of the connecting bolt 12, match in contour and lie flush against each other. In Fig. 4 and the solder 15 is not shown.

In Figures 2 and 4, the simple and manufacturing technology favorably designed shaping of the conductor 1 is shown on an enlarged scale, with which a surface 11 can span, which allows the safe, predetermined flow of the solder 15 and a reliable large-area connection between the conductor. 1 and the connecting pin 12 guaranteed. For this purpose, the conductor 1 is bent at the affected end to a loop 13 which encloses the space 11, as shown in FIG. 3. It can be seen in particular from Fig. 4, that the two parallel to the terminal pin 12 extending legs 131 and 132 will lead to a secure solder joint, if on the facing surfaces 11 of the legs 131 and 132 and the terminal bolt 12 Lot 15 adheres (not shown ). This also contributes to the connecting pin 12 U-shaped guided around and adapted to its contour connecting web 133 at. The exact determination of the shape of the loop 13 is made taking into account the dimensions of the components, ie the respective diameter (wire) and other dimensions. The shape of the loop 13 is, as can also be seen, so chosen running upward that an accidental snagging with the connecting pin 12 is reliably prevented. For this purpose, in particular also serves the substantially transversely to the connecting pin 12 upwardly extending loop end 135, which is returned to the loop beginning 134. In this way, even if, when bending down the conductor 1, the loop 13 unintentionally under the terminal pin 12 device, this laterally to the right away and after releasing back up, so that they can be easily re-placed on the connecting pin 12, like this Fig. 4 shows. The shape of the loop beginning 134, the loop end 135 and the U-shaped upwardly extending connecting web 133 are chosen so that a lateral sliding on the connecting bolt 12 is not possible before the soldering in the position shown in Fig. 4, because the U- shaped connecting web 133 centered on the approximately diameter-matched connecting pin 12.

The length of the conductor 1 is selected so that the loop 13 ends in front of the free end of the connecting bolt 12 so as not to be able to reach under the depression of the conductor 1 with the connecting web 133 in this case. This is necessary in particular in automated production in order to prevent under hooking of the loop 13 under the connecting bolt 12. Similarly, the loop 13 is formed in size so that the conductor 1 with the loop 13 does not exceed the end of the connecting bolt 12, as shown in all figures. During the soldering process, the solder (not shown) flows into the gap formed between the loop 13 and the connecting bolt 12. For this purpose, the diameter of the connecting web 133 is slightly larger than the diameter of the connecting bolt 12th

In practical experiments with this safety device has also been shown that the response of the fuse is improved over previous known solutions, because by the partial gripping around the loop 13 to the connecting bolt 12, a larger, can be acted upon with more heat contact surface is formed. So as soon as the melting point is reached when overheating the water heater from Lot, the conductor 1 abruptly removed from the terminal pin 12 and the power is interrupted. As a result, fires are avoided if the normal temperature controller is defective.
