Definitions
- the present invention relates to devices for carry out a continuous scrolling of a strip by joining several bands one after the other.
- the strips are rolled up on coils, and the joining occurs when we reach the end reel unwinding to start reel unwinding next.
- the invention is particularly applicable to bands intended to form bags for packaging.
- Cutting means make it possible to cut the ends of the strips to be joined.
- Two opposite rolls placed on the side and other bands allow to maintain longitudinally in correspondence, in a holding zone, the end sections of strips to be joined.
- Bonding means comprising a movable support and the opposite rollers, allow to apply a simple adhesive tape face in the bonding area covering the ends of the strips to unite.
- the knives are arranged in a longitudinal position fixed, upstream of the rollers. Rollers are fixed in position longitudinal, and can move transversely.
- the mobile support is pivoted around a fixed axis.
- An object of the present invention is to design a new continuous tape gluing device, in which the preparation of adhesive tapes is simpler and faster, while ensuring reliable and resistant bonding of the strips one after the other.
- Another object is to design such a device whose structure is particularly simple and inexpensive, and the particularly reliable.
- the device of the invention must also allow bonding end-to-end tapes, reducing handling, reducing the preparation time, simplifying preparation, and allowing either the bonding of a single adhesive or the bonding of two adhesives
- the bonding means and the cutting means are offset by a determined amplitude equal to the range of motion of the modules.
- the bonding means can advantageously include minus a mobile adhesive support mounted on each module, said support mobile comprising a bearing surface shaped to receive a ribbon adhesive and hold it by suction and being movable between at least a preparation position where its supporting surface is accessible for the application of adhesive tape, and a bonding position where its surface carrier is pressing against a strip to be glued to transfer onto it the adhesive tape.
- the modules are also movable laterally, perpendicular to the plane of the strips to be bonded, and acted upon by actuating means, between a close position in which they guide the bands in the assembly area during the cutting and gluing, and a retracted position in which they deviate from the strips after gluing and before cutting.
- the modules can be moved by longitudinal translation.
- the modules can be moved by rotation around transverse axes parallel to the plane of the bands.
- the continuous tape bonding device comprises two horizontal support axes 1 and 2 each intended to receive a coil respective 3 or 4 carrying a strip to be unrolled.
- the device is shown in the figure in a state where the coil 4 supports a strip reel 5 soon at the end of reel, and reel 3 supports a band on hold 6 which will take its continuation.
- Coils 3 and 4 rotate freely on their respective axis 1 or 2, the drive of the bands being insured downstream of the device.
- Support axes 1 and 2 are however associated with brakes that can be controlled to immobilize selectively rotating the coils 3 and 4.
- the scrolling strip 5 is guided linearly in an area assembly 7 between an upstream guide roller 8 and a roller downstream guide 9.
- the direction of the strip 5 in the assembly area defines the longitudinal direction of the device, and the strip 5 moves from upstream to downstream.
- Downstream of the downstream guide roller 9 is arranged a buffer device 10, the function of which is to ensure the accumulation reversible with a certain length of strip.
- the buffer device 10 comprises a succession of rollers comprising a first fixed roller 11, then a movable roller 12 mounted on a carriage 13 sliding along arrow 14, then a roller fixed 15.
- the carriage 13 slides along arrow 14 to get closer and move away from the fixed rollers 11 and 15, being stressed by means elastic bands not shown in the figure and tending to move it away from fixed rollers 11 and 15.
- the buffer device 10 allows the scrolling strip 5 downstream of the buffer device 10 is continuous and independent of scrolling upstream. We can temporarily stop the running of the strips inside the gluing device to ensure joining them together, without disturbing the running of the strip downstream.
- the active organs of the tape bonding device In the assembly area 7 are the active organs of the tape bonding device according to the invention.
- the active members are distributed in a first module 16 and a second module 17 distinct from each other and arranged on either side of bands 5 and 6 in the area assembly.
- the modules 16 and 17 are alternately movable in direction reverse from each other upstream and downstream of the area assembly as illustrated by the respective double arrows 18 and 19.
- the movement of the modules 16 and 17 is a longitudinal translation movement in the direction longitudinal of the strips in the assembly area 7, and according to a movement of determined amplitude between a first and a second state extreme.
- modules 16 and 17 are in the first state extreme, while in Figure 3 modules 16 and 17 are in the second extreme state.
- a locking clamp 20 is adapted to selectively lock the scrolling strip 5 downstream of the modules 16 and 17 and upstream of the buffer device 10. As previously indicated, a coil brake, not shown in the figures, blocks the rotation of the coil 3 waiting.
- the modules 16 and 17 are each slidably mounted longitudinal according to respective longitudinal slides 21 and 22 on a respective intermediate support 23 or 24 whose longitudinal position is fixed.

- the user has passed the end of the strip in standby 6 between the two modules 16 and 17, and the end section of waiting band runs along the inner portion of the bearing surface 31 and is plated and secured to the downstream outer surface portion 33 support by the clamp 35 biased by the cylinder 37.
- the standby coil 3 is locked in rotation by its braking means. Locking pliers 20 is in the open position, allowing the tape to slide freely scrolling 5.
- modules 16 and 17 have been moved laterally in their close position, by actuation of the jacks 29 and 30 of tightening, so that a small space exists between the two inner portions 31 and 32 of bearing surface, favoring guiding bands 5 and 6.
- the locking clamp 20 is then tightened, to block the movement of the moving strip 5, and the suction means tires 41, 42, 43 and 44 hold the strip sections against the corresponding modules 16 or 17 in assembly area 7.
- Both modules 16 and 17 remain in their first extreme position they were in the waiting position of FIG. 2, the first module 16 being upstream, the second module 17 being downstream.
- the knife 50 is actuated which cuts the two strips 5 and 6 and enters the slot 45, then returns to the withdrawal position.
- the modules 16 and 17 are then moved by actuating the corresponding cylinders 25 and 26, as illustrated in FIG. 4, for bring the first module 16 to the downstream extreme position and the second module 17 in the extreme upstream position.
- the means pneumatic suction pipes 41-44 hold the corresponding parts strip sections in sliding support against modules 16 or 17 respective.
- the movable adhesive supports 47 and 48 are opposite each other and simultaneously opposite the corresponding precut ends of the upstream portion of strip in waiting 6 and the downstream portion of the scrolling strip 5.
- the displacement lateral of the movable adhesive supports 47 and 48 then makes it possible to apply the adhesive tapes which they wear, by their adhesive faces, against the corresponding faces of the ends of the waiting strip 6 and of the strip drop-down 5, to perform double-sided bonding.
- a simple collage face can be achieved by placing a single adhesive on one side.
- FIGs 10 to 12 illustrate the symmetrical operation of the device for the next band change.
- Band 6 has become strip down, while band 5 has become the standby band
- the actuation of the knife 50 cuts the two strips 5 and 6.
- the displacement of the modules in the opposite direction displaces the falls of tape and brings the movable adhesive supports 47 and 49 one in front of the other and opposite the ends of the strips to be glued.
- Figure 12 after actuation of the movable adhesive supports 47 and 49, the two strips 5 and 6 are glued and the scraps can be removed.
