  • the tie-rod 21 may contain a duct for the distribution of a fluid under pressure to the system for actuating the gripping elements.
  • the tie-rod 21 since it does not have any substantial structural function, may have any small diameter as required, provided that it can withstand to the axial force applied to it by the adjusting knob 16. Therefore, the hole for passage of the rod 21 inside the main shaft 12 and inside the expanding cylinder 11 affects only marginally the resisting section of the expanding shaft, all more so if compared with the hole present in the hollow cylinder of the known art.
  • the expanding shaft according to the invention achieves the sliding movement, adopting a completely new and innovative configuration compared to the known art, since it assigns the function of sliding seat to a special mechanical member, the bell piece 20, which is completely free from constructional limitations of the expanding cylinder.
  • the main shaft may in fact have not only an external diameter which is as large as required, but also an internal hole of very small dimensions: therefore the resisting section of the main shaft 12, also at the point where it is subjected to the maximum bending stress, i.e. in the region of the junction fillet with the expanding cylinder 11, may be of wide dimensions, to the benefit of the maximum load which can be supported by the expanding shaft.
  • a sliding expanding shaft with a working length of 500 mm, main shaft with a diameter of 40 mm and through-hole for the tie-rod 21 with a diameter of 16 mm may easily support a load of up to 200 kg.
  • a suitable locking system acting for example on the end 21b of the tie-rod 21 projecting from the base plate 26, keeps the tie-rod itself static, i.e. fixed with respect to the winding/unwinding machine on which the expanding shaft is mounted.
  • the adjusting head-piece 17 is free in rotation from the cylinder 11 and is locked in rotation on the tie-rod 21 by means of a key 24 which allows only the longitudinal translation thereof.
  • the head-piece 17 has a hub 17b on which a radial bearing 23 is mounted, the outer raceway of which being housed in a corresponding seat of the expanding cylinder 11.
  • the bearing 22 is suitably mounted, so as to be able to transfer the longitudinal movement imparted by the knob 18 to the head-piece 17, also to the expanding cylinder.
  • This second embodiment allows the other objects of the invention to be achieved as well.
  • the fact that the adjusting knob remains static also during rotation of the expanding shaft advantageously allows adjustment of the alignment to be performed also during rotation of the reel.
  • the system for moving the gripping elements may be supplied by means of a charging valve 28 arranged radially in a suitable seat formed in the thickness of the expanding cylinder.
  • the fluid under pressure may be inlet or allowed to flow out through the valve 28 only under static conditions, i.e. when the reel is at a standstill.
  • both the adjusting head-piece and the main shaft are formed as parts separate from the expanding cylinder 11, being assembled only subsequently - a choice this which results in a simpler machining process and hence undoubted advantages from a cost point of view - the same objects could be achieved with other techniques, for example by forming in one piece the main shaft and with the expanding cylinder or also, in the first embodiment described, the adjusting head-piece with the expanding cylinder.
  • radial bearings may be replaced, on the basis also of the specific technological solution adopted, by sliding bearings, by combined thrust bearings or the like.

Claims (10)

  1. Arbre à expansion coulissant axialement, du type monté en porte-à-faux sur une structure porteuse, comprenant un arbre principal (12) associé à un cylindre à expansion (11) doté d'éléments préhenseurs rétractables pouvant retenir le noyau d'une bobine, caractérisé en ce que ledit arbre principal (12) est d'une part verrouillé en rotation et en translation avec ledit cylindre à expansion (11) et d'autre part peut coulisser, tout en y étant verrouillé en rotation (18, 18a), dans un manchon (20) monté de manière à pouvoir tourner sur ladite structure porteuse, des dispositifs de réglage (16, 17, 21, 22) destinés à contrôler le mouvement de coulissement relatif dudit arbre principal (12) et dudit manchon (20) étant également prévus.
  2. Arbre à expansion selon la revendication 1, où lesdits dispositifs de réglage comprennent une tige de traction (21) fixe axialement, disposée longitudinalement à l'intérieur de l'arbre principal (12) et du cylindre à expansion (11) et pouvant y coulisser librement, ainsi qu'un bouton de réglage (16) agissant d'une part sur une extrémité de fixation (21a) de ladite tige de traction (21) et d'autre part sur une partie de réglage (17) de l'ensemble cylindre à expansion / arbre principal.
  3. Arbre à expansion selon la revendication 2, où ladite partie de réglage (17) de l'ensemble cylindre à expansion / arbre principal est constituée d'une pièce de tête de réglage (17) verrouillée en rotation avec l'extrémité du cylindre à expansion (11) opposée à l'arbre principal (12).
  4. Arbre à expansion selon la revendication 3, où ladite tête de réglage (17) possède un logement fileté (17a) dans lequel s'engage une section filetée dudit bouton (16), celui-ci étant fixe en translation et libre en rotation par rapport à ladite extrémité de fixation (21a) de la tige de traction (21).
  5. Arbre à expansion selon l'une quelconque des revendications 2 à 4, où ladite tige de traction (21) est fixée sur le manchon (20) et où ladite tête de réglage (17) est également verrouillée en rotation avec le cylindre à expansion (11).
  6. Arbre à expansion selon la revendication 5, où ladite tête de réglage (17) est fixée sur le cylindre à expansion (11) par un assemblage fileté.
  7. Arbre à expansion selon la revendication 3 ou 4, où ladite tige de traction (21) est fixe par rapport à ladite structure porteuse et où ladite tête de réglage (17) est libre en rotation par rapport audit cylindre à expansion (11) mais verrouillée en rotation par rapport à ladite tige de traction (21).
  8. Arbre à expansion selon la revendication 7, où des paliers radiaux (23, 25) sont disposés entre ladite tige de traction (21) et ledit manchon (20) ainsi qu'entre ladite tête de réglage (17) et ledit cylindre à expansion (11).
  9. Arbre à expansion selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, où des paliers lisses (13) sont placés entre ledit arbre principal (12) et ledit manchon (20) et où ledit manchon (20) présente un logement longitudinal (18a) pour une clavette de guidage (18) fixée sur ledit arbre principal (12).
  10. Arbre à expansion selon l'une quelconque des revendications 2 à 9, où ladite tige de traction (21) abrite des conduits (27) de distribution d'un fluide sous pression apte à commander ledits éléments préhenseurs.
