In modern electrical machines, those with the Brushing treads in contact equally mechanically, electrically and thermally highly stressed. For trouble-free operation of the brush / tread pairing the brushes must be good, based on the tread Sliding properties, low wear and tear also good current transmission and commutation properties to have. Many of the state of the art Known brushes do not meet the requirements mentioned or not sufficient. It is e.g. intolerable if a brush has good sliding properties, but it does creates a sliding film on the counter surface, which one has such a large current transfer resistance that thereby operation by heating the commutator or the Slip ring and the brush by means of Joule heat high temperatures arise that one or more of the mentioned machine components are damaged. It can thereby e.g. Deformations on the commutator arise or it occurs an auxiliary substance contained in the brush like for example, a meltable impregnating agent. Both Events lead to machine failure. Other, out Defects within the combination of properties mentioned above resulting damage is for the specialist easily conceivable and occur in practice.
It was therefore the task of the present application underlying invention, essentially made of carbon or from a carbon filler and a synthetic resin binder existing brushes for transferring electrical To create electricity for operation on modern highly stressed electrical machines are suitable and little wear when operating on such machines effect and especially a small one Have wear and tear compared to brushes according to the status technology cause a lower collector temperature. Other tasks included reducing brush fires and radio interference levels. Furthermore, at least one Methods for making such brushes specified become.
The task is done on the one hand by a brush according to the Preamble of claim 1 solved by this is characterized in that it has at least one inorganic Contains substance that has its crystal structure in the area below their melting, sublimation or decomposition range changes depending on the temperature. On the other hand, it is characterized by the characteristic parts of the Claims 8, 12, 13, 14 and 15 solved the method specify for the manufacture of brushes according to the invention. The dependent claims give advantageous refinements of Invention again.
The contained in the brush according to the invention Substances, hereinafter called inventive substances, must have their beneficial effects especially in the area higher temperatures, especially in the range of 80 to 180 ° C, namely the temperature range that the brush treads adopt modern machines in operation, unfold. If these temperatures are exceeded at least damage to the commutator or slip ring arise. At the beginning of the machine start-up phase, i.e. at room temperature and at only slightly elevated temperatures cause the inventive substances to run brushes like other well-known impregnating agents. If However, the brush treads and the brushes after the Running-in phase due to friction and the transition from electrical current associated heat development on their Warm up the operating temperature, pass through the brushes and with them the inventive substance contained in them Temperatures at which the crystal structure of this Substance changes and high temperature modifications of the form inventive substance that the beneficial Cause effects. In particular, it must be assumed that the high temperature modifications formed during running in on the sliding surface of the machine Change the sliding film so that it is less electrical resistance and possibly additional receives more favorable sliding properties, because otherwise it could not both the drop in the operating temperature of the Tread and the brush as well as a reduction in Wear of the brushes and in some cases also the Collector can be determined. With the lowering of the electrical resistance of the interface between the Brush and the brush tread also go one Improvement of the commutation ability and a lowering the spark formation and thus the radio interference rate.
Inventive substances are in particular: ammonium nitrate, Ammonium bromide, sodium sulfate, sodium nitrite, potassium nitrate, Potassium hydrogen sulfate, cesium nitrate, barium titanate, silver nitrate, Thallium nitrate and thallium iodide, with ammonium nitrate is preferably used. The crystal structure of Ammonium nitrate changes from orthorhombic at 84.2 ° C in tetragonal and at 125 ° C from tetragonal to cubic. It is believed that the changes made to the Crystal structure accompanying changes in physical Properties the cause of the positive Effects of ammonium nitrate are. The salary of the inventive substances in the brushes 0.01 to 9 wt .-%, based on the weight of the brushes without the substance. The ammonium nitrate content is preferred in the range of 0.05 to 3 percent by weight. The inventive Substances can be used individually or in isolation Mix can be used with each other. In general the inventive substances are in the liquid accessible Pore volume of the brushes and cover there at least the pore walls. At with synthetic resin bound brushes can be the inventive substances also be integrated into the binder matrix made of synthetic resin.
The positive effects of the inventive substances can by adding organic lubricants and lubricants be further improved. Everyone can do this from a standing start Means of this type known in the art, for example synthetic or natural waxes and / or natural or synthetic waxy lubricants Polymers or / and synthetic or natural oils or / and synthetic or natural fats can be used. Such lubrication and sliding aids are in the fluid-accessible pores of the brushes or, at Brushes with a synthetic resin bond, in the pores of the Carbon filler of the resin-bonded brushes brought in.
Brushes according to the invention with a binder matrix Carbon are made by for use carbon bodies suitable as brushes, which either already have the form of brushing or from which mechanical machining brushes can be manufactured and due to the manufacturing process a liquid-accessible one Have pore volumes with a solution of the inventive Substance or liquid in which the inventive Substance is kept in suspension, be impregnated and the solvent or die Carrier fluid holding particles in suspension after the Impregnation is evaporated. Instead of an inventive one Substance can also have more than one of these substances either in an impregnation process or in impregnation processes, which are executed one after the other into the Carbon bodies are introduced. Where one sufficiently good wettability of the carbon surfaces given by the impregnation liquid, it can Impregnate by simply dipping the carbon body happen in the impregnation liquid. In most However, the so-called vacuum pressure process is used applied where the carbon body in a boiler first exposed to a vacuum, then with the Impregnation liquid and then covered with normal or Overpressure can be applied. The evaporation of the Solvent or the liquid that the particles in the limbo holds or has held, according to the general known procedures performed by any process engineer knows. According to a preferred method, the impregnated wet body in an oven, e.g. one Continuous furnace heated to a temperature that is preferred 5 K above the boiling point of the solvent used or the boiling range of the solvent mixture used lies. Another preferred The carbon body is dried in a heated process Boilers with a slight negative pressure can be. All graphitized can be used for impregnation and non-graphitized carbon bodies are used, which have a pore volume accessible to liquid and which for use as brush material for transferring electrical current are suitable.
For most of the inventive substances, water is the preferred solvent. Where the solubility ratios permit or if water is not to be used, other polar solvents such as, for example, methyl, ethyl, propyl or isopropyl alcohol or also pyridine can be used alone or in mixtures with water.
When using ammonium nitrate as the inventive substance, aqueous solutions containing 1 to 60% by weight of ammonium nitrate can be used. However, preference is given to working with a 3 to 15 percent by weight solution of the salt in water or in methanol. In general, the amount of the inventive substance that is to be deposited in the pores of the carbon body is controlled by the content of the inventive substances in the solutions. Where it is not possible to deposit the desired amount of inventive substance in the pores in one impregnation and drying step, multiple impregnations are carried out.
In cases where, as with barium titanate, the use of solutions is not possible or where the following procedure is advantageous, liquids are used for impregnation in which the inventive substance is kept in suspension at least for the time of impregnation. As such liquids, preference is given to using, but not exclusively, substances such as waxes, polymers, oils or fats which act as lubricants, which should remain in the pores of the carbon body after impregnation and which improve the sliding properties of the brush. However, other known media forming suspensions can also be used.
In most cases, the effects can improve of the inventive substance can be achieved if that Pore system impregnated with the inventive substance Carbon body still with an organic Agents from the group natural or synthetic waxes or / and natural or synthetic, as lubricants acting polymers and / or natural or synthetic oils or / and impregnated synthetic or natural fats becomes. The impregnation is done either with melting or with solutions of these organic agents. In case of Use of the body will melt after the Impregnate below the melting point or softening range the medium cooled. In the case of using solutions after impregnation, the solvent must be known methods are removed, some of which in Have been described above.
Brushes according to the invention comprising a binder matrix Have synthetic resin are produced by two processes.
befindet.According to one method, the inventive substance is first fixed to the liquid-accessible surface of the carbon filler of the brush by one of the aforementioned methods. The carbon filler prepared in this way is then mixed with the binder resin and a body is formed from this mixture in a known manner, which body either has the shape of the brush or from which brushes can be produced by mechanical processing. After shaping, the binder resin is hardened. In the second method, the inventive substance is mixed into the binder resin in finely pulverized form and the mixture thus obtained is mixed with the carbon filler, this mixture is then shaped into a brush body or a body suitable for producing brushes, and the binder resin is hardened. The amount of the inventive substance blended in the binder resin is in the range of 0.2 to 7% by weight based on the uncured binder resin.
It goes without saying that the process steps of the first and the second process can be combined if it is desired that the inventive substance be in both the carbon filler and the binder resin matrix.
To further regulate the operating characteristics of the If necessary, these can be brushed with additional additives or Impregnating agents are provided, which from the state of the Technology are known.
In the following, the invention is illustrated by means of exemplary embodiments explained further.
Der Gehalt an Ammoniumnitrat im getrockneten Körper betrug 0,5 Gew.-%.A porous carbon pre-product body (quality T 1047, manufacturer SGL CARBON AG, Bonn), dimensions 8 x 14 x 30 mm 3 , for the production of brushes, was dried in a drying cabinet at 105 ° C. for 5 hours, then in an impregnation vessel transferred and exposed to a vacuum of less than 100 Pa. The connection to the vacuum pump was then closed and the kettle was completely flooded with a solution which contained 10% by weight of ammonium nitrate in water. After draining the solution, the now impregnated carbon body was removed from the kettle and dried in a drying cabinet for eight hours at a temperature of 105 ° C. under normal pressure. Afterwards he was ready for the production of brushes in usable gauge blocks by mechanical processing or for further impregnation. The content of ammonium nitrate in the dried body was 0.5% by weight.
A carbon precursor body impregnated with ammonium nitrate according to Example 1 was placed in a kettle which contained a solution of 5% by weight paraffin (type Vestowax SH 105, supplier Ter Hell Hermann & Co. GmbH, Hamburg) and 95% by weight tetrachlorethylene. The impregnation solution was prepared by dissolving the paraffin in boiling tetrachlorethylene. The kettle was then closed, fitted with a reflux condenser and the impregnating liquid was heated to boiling temperature under atmospheric pressure and the carbon body was left in the solution heated in this way for 30 minutes. After removing the body now impregnated with ammonium nitrate and paraffin from the kettle, the body was dried in a drying cabinet at 85 ° C. for a further 10 hours. Then it was processed by mechanical processing to usable brushes with the dimensions 6.3 x 11 x 35.5 mm 3 for the transmission of electric current.
Correspondingly, using Preproduct bodies made of carbon that have not previously been used Ammonium nitrate had been impregnated, brushes for Comparative purposes made.
With non-impregnated brushes and with brushes produced according to the above-described exemplary embodiments, which after the finishing had the dimensions 6.3 x 11 x 35.5 mm 3 , running tests were carried out on AC motors of the same type under the following operating conditions:
Umfangsgeschwindigkeit an der Bürstenlauffläche : 31,5 m/s
Übertragungsleistung: 1200 Watt
Laufzeit: 400 StundenCircumferential speed on the brush tread: 31.5 m / s
Transmission power: 1200 watts
Running time: 400 hours
The commutator of each AC motor was two Brushes equipped in the usual brush holders under the pressure of conventional brush springs against the tread were pressed.
Die Raumtemperatur während der Messungen lag im Bereich von 20 bis 25 °C.The overtemperature of the collector is the measured one Difference between the respective room temperature and the Temperature of the collector surface at the running zone of the Brushing during operation. The room temperature during the measurements ranged from 20 to 25 ° C.
Auf einem Schleifringprüfstand wurden nicht imprägnierte
und nur mit Ammoniumnitrat imprägnierte Bürsten der
Qualität RE 500, Hersteller SGL CARBON AG, Bonn, im
Vergleich getestet. Das Imprägnieren war gemäß
Ausführungsbeispiel 1 vorgenommen worden. Zur Durchführung
der Versuche wurden einmal 8 Bürsten mit einer
Ammoniumnitratimprägnierung und ein anderes mal 8 Bürsten
ohne Imprägnierung unter sonst gleichen Bedingungen laufen
gelassen.
The measurements during the tests showed that the Current distribution in the brushes according to the invention over the entire runtime was extremely even. Each of the brushes always transferred 25% ± 1% of the total current. Not with them impregnated brushes, the current distribution was between 0 and 60% per brush, i.e. some brushes transferred temporarily no electricity at all.
The measured values of both test groups show that the running behavior the brushes impregnated according to the invention overall is significantly better than the unimpregnated To brush. This particularly affects brush wear for both direct and alternating current machines. The improvement only occurs when the collector wears the variants with an additional paraffin impregnation in appearance. But that also the collector as a whole is spared and that the sliding and power transmission properties by use impregnated according to the invention Brushes are significantly improved, goes from the Lower collector temperatures during operation forth. Furthermore, when running the with Impregnated brushes much less Brush fire or sparks observed. It follows that the brushes according to the invention also less radio interference cause.
