Definitions

  • the invention relates to a laminate-protected self-adhesive label on a web-shaped carrier material, preferably made up into roll goods, for continuous machine labeling, with a labeling field and a transparent protective laminate for covering the labeling field.
  • Such labels are used wherever a special resistance of the lettering in the presence of aggressive media or where a special abrasion resistance of the lettering is required when exposed to the effects of using the object to be labeled.
  • protection of the label is essential to ensure that the label remains legible even under harsh conditions of use.
  • the labeling field of the known labels is therefore covered with a transparent laminate or with a transparent film after labeling.
  • Labels are not always fully labeled. It is often necessary to label an egg label immediately before it is used or to add an existing label to the label.
  • labels are known for this purpose, which are provided with a transparent laminate with a removable protective film between the labeling field and protective laminate.
  • the protective laminate is tongue-like on one side when used as intended and cannot be removed from the labeling field connected.
  • the protective laminate must be lifted off by hand so that the labeling field of the label is exposed. After the label has been written on, the protective film can then be removed with the laminate tongue open. Then the laminate film is stuck over the labeled label.
  • punching and laminating systems For machine printing, so-called punching and laminating systems are known, in which the information carriers of the label applied to a web-like carrier are continuously printed from the roll, for example in a thermal transfer printer, and then also continuously laminated and punched out after the laminate has been applied. These punching and laminating systems have proven to be particularly advantageous for large-scale labeling. Punching and laminating systems are used wherever the marking of objects to be manufactured immediately follows the manufacturing process. Here it is often desirable to change the labeling of the labels at short notice, for example if the production is changed from one machine type to another.
  • a self-adhesive label which has two parts connected to one another, each of which is interrupted by a transverse, physically designed predetermined crease line into two large fields - a label and a cover field - and the parts are folded along the predetermined crease line become.
  • the label is made of a transparent material.
  • the interconnected parts are arranged laterally offset from one another and on one side of the one labeling field is the other labeling field, the one covering field being formed above and the other covering field below the respective labeling field. Folding takes place along the nominal folding lines, the labeling fields being folded onto one another and then the covering fields being folded onto the labeling fields.
  • the label described in DE 42 11 373 C1 is a so-called thread label, the wings of which are glued together, for example, by a thread or a cord to form a flag.
  • the object of the invention to improve a label of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that it can be directly removed from the printing system in the case of packaging as rolls or by the meter and continuous machine labeling, so that no rejects are produced when the labeling is changed. Furthermore, the label according to the invention should be simple to manufacture and handle.
  • each exposed labeling field can be arranged on a web-shaped carrier material, which enables continuous labeling in a printing system.
  • the label can be removed directly from the printer. The subsequent lamination and punching is not necessary.
  • the unfolded and level arrangement of both wings of the label enables the carrier material with the exposed labeling field to be guided by a printing system in such a way that no disturbances are caused by, for example, fluttering laminate flaps or laminate flaps.
  • Both wings of the label are preferably formed by a transparent film, a non-transparent film being provided as the labeling field and being non-detachably connected to a wing of the transparent film.
  • the transparent film thus forms a kind of envelope for the labeling field.
  • the two wings of the transparent film are approximately the same size and are mirror-symmetrical to one another with respect to the fold line as the axis of symmetry, so that after the wing forming the protective laminate is folded in, the protective laminate is congruent with the labeling field, if the latter big as one of the wings of the label.
  • the crease line can be provided as a perforation line in the one-piece transparent film.
  • the non-transparent film which serves as the labeling field, preferably consists of metallized polyester, which can be printed with high contrast and is also UV-resistant.
  • the wing of the transparent film receiving the inscription field can be glued to a coated carrier paper as a web-like carrier material, the adhesive force of the adhesive advantageously being less on the carrier paper than on the film.
  • the wing of the label forming the protective laminate together with the protective cover can, for example, also be integrated into a carrier tape.
  • the contour of the wing forming the protective laminate is then preferably predetermined by punching or perforation lines in the carrier tape.
  • the label can optionally be made up in such a way that the webs between the individual wings forming the protective laminate have to be separated after the inscription, or these can have been removed before the label was made up.
  • the label can also be designed as a paint protection shield, for example. These signs are applied to machines as type plates before application of a coating, it must be ensured that the labeling field is still legible after the coating.
  • a multilayer laminate is therefore preferably used as the protective laminate. After each painting process, the top layer of laminate, which is provided with a removable adhesive, is peeled off. The labeled sign becomes visible again.
  • the protective laminate can be formed, for example, by at least two removable transparent protective films, each of which forms a grip tongue through an area free of adhesive on the edge, the protective films being arranged to overlap one another, two mutually associated protective films to be peeled off form a full-area covering of the labeling field and the respective lower grip tongue two protective films forming a cover are completely covered by the upper protective film and sealed so that it cannot be lifted off or gripped under as long as the upper protective film has not been removed.
  • the terms "above” and "below” in the sense of the above explanation refer to the position of the label with the labeling field facing the viewer and the wing folded in, ie. H. protective laminate applied to the labeling field.
  • the label 1 according to the invention is designed with two wings, the two wings 2, 3 being approximately the same size and mirror-symmetrical with respect to a perforation line 4.
  • the two wings 2, 3 of the label 1 are integrally connected to one another and consist of a transparent film 5, which serves both as the protective laminate for the labeling field of the label 1 and as a support for the metallized polyester film 6, which forms the labeling field.
  • the size of the labeling field or the metallized polyester film 6 corresponds to the size of a wing 2, 3.
  • a coating or printing of the wing 2 can also be provided.
  • the wing 2 of the transparent film 5, which serves as a carrier for the inscription field, is detachably applied to a web-shaped carrier paper 8 by means of a first adhesive layer 7.
  • the carrier paper 8 can be torn off along the perforation lines 9 shown in FIG. 1 between each label 1.
  • the metallized polyester film 6 forming the inscription field is inextricably linked to the transparent film 5 forming the support and the protective laminate.
  • the wing 3 of the transparent film 5 which forms the protective laminate is provided on the side facing away from the carrier paper 8 with a second adhesive layer 10 which receives a detachable protective cover 11.
  • the transparent film 5 can also be made of polyester.
  • the two wings 2, 3 can be folded in along the perforation line 4. In the position shown in Fig. 1, i.e. H. in the state applied to the carrier paper 8, these two wings 2, 3 of the label are folded out and arranged in approximately one plane.
  • the label 1 After the label 1 has been removed from the web-shaped carrier paper 8, as shown in FIG. 3, it is first glued onto the object 12 to be marked (FIG. 4).
  • the first adhesive layer 7 is such that the label 1 is easily removable from the backing paper 8, but adheres strongly to the object 12 to be marked.
  • the protective cover 11 is then removed and the wing 3 of the transparent film 5 is folded in along the perforation line 4, so that the second adhesive layer 10 rests on the metallized polyester film 6 forming the inscription field.
  • this is done after labeling the label 1 in a printing system.
  • the wing 3 is folded in such that the two wings 2 and 3 lie approximately congruently on one another and accommodate the metallized polyester film 6 between them.
  • the wing 3 of the label forming the protective cover 11 can also be integrated in a carrier tape, not shown, in such a way that the gaps 13 remaining between the wings 3 are closed.
  • the one shown in FIG. 1 shown design of the labels located on the carrier paper 8.
  • the carrier paper 8 with the labels 1 arranged thereon is preferably made up as rolls.
  • the carrier paper 8 is designed as paper with a plastic-coated surface, from which the adhesive of the adhesive layer 7 can be easily removed.
  • the protective cover 11 can be of the same nature as the carrier paper 8.
