Abstract

The motor (1) torque is transmitted through the flange (12) of a hub (11), keyed to the drive-shaft (2), to a plate (14) solidly connected to the torque limiter's input face (15). Flange and plate are connected by three equally spaced balls (16) retained, in holes (18) in the plate and in conical seats (17) in the flange, by a collar (19). A helical spring (20), seated in a grooved nut (21) on the threaded hub end, exerts pressure on the collar, adjustable by rotating the nut. If the torque, though below the limiter setting, exceeds a threshold dependent on this pressure, the balls, expelled from the seats, drive the collar towards the motor.
