Abstract

Bei einer elektrisch angetriebenen Kühlmittelpumpe mit einer Elektro-Motor-Pumpeneinheit (2) erzeugt eine elektronische Steuereinheit (6) ein pulsweitenmoduliertes Steuersignal für die Pumpe in Abhängigkeit zumindest eines Motorbetriebsparameters. Um Unregelmäßigkeiten und Störungen im Pumpenbetrieb rechtzeitig zu erkennen ist vorgesehen, daß die vorzugsweise in das Motormanagement integrierte Steuereinheit (6) mit einem Fehlerdetektor (7) zur Erkennung von abnormen Steuersignalen und Pumpenbetriebszuständen und mit einem Drehzahlregler (4) für die Pumpendrehzahl (n) verbunden ist, wobei der Fehlerdetektor (7) eine Notfalleinrichtung (7b) für die Kühlmittelpumpe aufweist.
