Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a liquid-tight connector for example for two cables to be connected, with one Plug and a coupling to which the two cables are connectable with a connector housing and a Coupling housing, in which the plug and the coupling are housed, and with a locking ring, by means of which the connector housing and the coupling housing with each other are screwable.
Such a connector is for example from the Measurement technology known as a so-called SMEK connector. With the help of Plug connection it is possible, for example, two cables electrically connect with each other. Alternatively it is also possible to electrically connect a sensor to a cable connect or generally two components electrically connect with each other. Especially for use in the Environmental technology requires that the connector is liquid-tight. For this purpose, the well-known SMEK connector provided with a total of six seals. One each Seal is between the connector housing or the Coupling housing and the locking ring arranged. So that will achieved that none when screwed together Liquid in the area of the lock ring in the two Housing can penetrate. Furthermore, there are two each Seals between the connector housing and the Coupling housing and the associated component arranged. This ensures that the connector housing and the clutch housing on its two associated components facing ends are liquid-tight.
The object of the invention is a liquid-tight To create a connector that has fewer seals.
This task is at the beginning of a plug connection mentioned type according to the invention solved in that the Plug housing and the coupling housing in the screwed together an overlap area have, and that in the overlap area a seal is arranged between the two housings.
This ensures that only a single seal is required to prevent liquid in penetrates the connector housing or the coupling housing.
It is possible that liquid between the Lock ring and the two housings, because there in the In contrast to the prior art, no seals are available are. However, this is irrelevant because the seal in the Overlap area between the connector housing and the Coupling housing in any case further penetration of the Liquid is prevented in the two housings. According to the invention is therefore in the overlap area arranged seal between the connector housing and the Coupling housing compared to the prior art Seal saved.
Another advantage is that the invention arranged seal at no time, not even during of screwing the connector housing and the Coupling housing, a load from a rotary movement or the like is exposed. Only the closure part leads a rotary motion while the connector housing and that The clutch housing does not turn. That way in particular reduces wear on the seal and thus the life of the seal is significantly increased.
In advantageous embodiments of the invention that is Coupling housing in the overlap area on the outside Arranged connector housing or is the locking ring in the Overlap area arranged on the outside of the clutch housing. From so inside the connector housing is first available, then the clutch housing and then the locking ring. At the Assembly of the connector thus takes place Plug housing almost automatically makes its way into that Clutch housing. This ensures that the in the Plug housing housed plugs particularly easily with connected to the clutch housed in the clutch housing can be.
In an advantageous development of the invention Seal arranged on the outside of the connector housing. So that's it always possible for a user, in a simple way, in particular by a visual inspection, the seal on the Check the functionality of the connector housing.
It is particularly useful if an O-ring is used as the seal Rubber is provided. This makes it possible to have a secure and at the same time cost-effective sealing of the connector housing and to reach the clutch housing.
In an advantageous development of the invention Locking ring rotatably connected to the clutch housing and has an internal thread and it has the connector housing an external thread assigned to the internal thread. So that will when assembling the connector, inserting the Plug housing in the coupling housing further facilitated. The connector housing is from that on the coupling housing rotatably held locking ring and thus passes from even to the clutch housing. Then the connector housing and the clutch housing by means of the locking ring screwed together, so the Area of overlap with that between the two housings arranged seal.
In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, this Connector housing and the coupling housing on their the two Cable-facing ends each have a seal that between the respective cable and the respective housing is arranged. This ensures that only one Seal on each of the ends of the two cables facing two housing is required to prevent Liquid in the connector housing or the coupling housing penetrates. According to the invention is thus at each end of the two housings arranged seal compared to the state the technology saved one seal each.
It is particularly useful if a rubber grommet as a seal is provided. This makes it possible to have a secure and at the same time cost-effective sealing of the connector housing and to reach the clutch housing towards the cables.
In an advantageous development of the invention, this Connector housing and the coupling housing on the two Cable-facing ends each have a screwable one Cap on. This makes it possible to connect the cables to the ends of the two housings in a simple manner in the connector insert and connect with the plug and the coupling.
Furthermore, it is possible for a user to do simple Way, especially by visual inspection, the seals the ends of the two housings with their caps removed Check functionality.
In an advantageous embodiment of the invention the connector housing, the coupling housing and the locking ring made of plastic. This is the plug connection according to the invention acid and alkali resistant and can be used especially in the Environmental technology can be used.

Innengewinde 27 ist ein Außengewinde 28 auf dem Steckergehäuse
6 zugeordnet. Damit ist der Verschlußring 24 mittels der
Gewinde 27, 28 auf das Steckergehäuse 6 aufschraubbar.The
vordringen. In the screwed-together state according to
Beim Zusammenbau bzw. Auseinanderschrauben des Steckerteils 2
und des Kupplungsgteils 3 wird nur der Verschlußring 24
gedreht.
dergleichen belastet. When assembling or unscrewing the
