Abstract

The fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine has a high-pressure fuel pump (5) through which a high-pressure fuel container (8) is supplied with fuel. Pipelines (15) lead from the container to electrically controlled fuel injection valves (14) on the engine. The valves extract fuel from the container and bring it to the engine for injection. The pressure in the container is controlled by a regulating valve (11) and a filter (17) is located between them. The clear width of the cross-section at the filter is smaller or equal to half the clear width of the outflow cross-section of the regulating valve.

Description

Stand der TechnikState of the art

The invention relates to a fuel injection system for Internal combustion engines according to the preamble of claim 1 out. In such a case, known from EP 0 299 337 The fuel injection system becomes the high-pressure fuel reservoir powered by a high pressure fuel pump and the pressure in the high-pressure fuel accumulator through a pressure control valve controlled. With such fuel injection systems there is a risk that despite filtering the amount of fuel supplied to the high pressure fuel pump assembly of the fuel injection system Chips or contaminants accumulated in the high pressure system are the functionality of the pressure control valve could affect.

Vorteile der ErfindungAdvantages of the invention

The fuel injection system according to the invention The genus of claim 1 has the advantage that the inserted filter impairs the function of the pressure control valve is avoided. Especially the filter is advantageously designed so that it before all things hold back the components that function of the pressure control valve could significantly affect. These are in particular parts that are on the passage cross sections of the pressure control valve would be retained. A in contrast dimensioned filter according to claim 2 basically a sufficient flow cross-section for Available, the clear width of the several passage cross sections certainly holds back parts Outflow cross section of the pressure control valve could clog.

An embodiment of the invention is in the drawing shown and is described in more detail in the following description explained.

Beschreibung des AusführungsbeispielsDescription of the embodiment

In the figure is a fuel injection system for internal combustion engines reproduced in a schematic representation. This consists of a high-pressure fuel pump 5, the Fuel from a fuel tank 6 if necessary with the interposition of a fuel pump and sucks a filter. The high pressure fuel pump delivers the high pressure fuel via a Pressure line 7 in a high-pressure fuel reservoir 8. Von this lead pressure lines 15 to electrically controlled Fuel injectors 14 from that of each Injection point of the internal combustion engine not shown are assigned and controlled there depending bring fuel to injection from operating parameters. The fuel injectors are replaced by a Control device 18 according to the time of opening and duration of opening controlled. This control device also serves Monitoring the pressure in the high-pressure fuel reservoir 8, in which they receive pressure signals from a pressure sensor 9 on the high-pressure fuel reservoir receives. For regulation or control the pressure in the high-pressure fuel reservoir is also a Relief line 12 is provided to the fuel tank returns and in which a pressure control valve 11 is appropriate. This can be done mechanically in a known manner work as a pressure relief valve and in addition the Opening pressure of this pressure control valve still electrically the control device 18 can be controlled. Such one Pressure control valve is e.g. known from EP 0 267 162. In addition, is now between the Pressure control valve 11 and the high-pressure fuel reservoir Filter 17 used, in the present case only is shown schematically. This filter can of course in a suitable manner either in the pressure control valve 11 be integrated or in the area of an outlet fitting on High-pressure fuel accumulator 8 may be arranged. Also as in the line filter is such a filter executable. This filter can be used as a gap filter or as Mesh filters are executed, the filtering Passage cross section in its clear width like this is small that it is preferably equal to or less than that clear cross-section of the pressure control valve is. Consequently are certain components of the pressure control valve withheld the outflow cross section of the Pressure control valve can clog. On the other hand, at such a wide open space of the individual Passage cross sections on the filter ensures that a sufficient flow cross-section is available, the on the other hand, the relief effect when open Pressure control valve guaranteed.
