Definitions
- the invention relates to an operating circuit for a high-pressure gas discharge lamp.
- a particular problem with high pressure gas discharge lamps is that they are usually only ignited when cold can, so only after a certain cooling phase after the last operation.
- a much simpler alternative is to provide a second lamp generally a simple incandescent lamp that Can bridge the dark phase.
- the aim is that the operating circuit the high pressure gas discharge lamp this light bulb independently turns on when an operator turns on the high pressure discharge lamp want to turn on, but this can not be ignited.
- Conventional for this purpose quite elaborate electronics were provided to measure the voltage drop detected on the high pressure gas discharge lamp to the burning state closes and turns on the light bulb if necessary.
- An example is the ignition timing bypass device Tridonic LRM 300. This device contains estimated between 50 and 80 electronic components and stressed a volume of about 70 x 40 x 30 mm, each for the ignition timing bypass function. This technical effort and the associated costs and size are considered to be very disadvantageous.
- Circuit arrangements are also known from US-A-5 300 863 and US-A-5 256 946 known, because of the high pressure discharge lamp flowing current or the applied to the high-pressure discharge lamp Voltage used as control signal for switching on a second lamp becomes.
- the invention is therefore based on the technical problem of an operating circuit for a high pressure gas discharge lamp to create a Ignition time bridging function enabled in a technically simple manner.
- a circuit for operating a high-pressure gas discharge lamp with a device for bridging the ignition time by switching on a second lamp in which the ignition time bridging device by an operating state of the high-pressure discharge lamp indicating signal is driven characterized in that the control signal the output signal of the power regulator of the circuit is provided for the power control of the high-pressure discharge lamp is.
- EP-A-644 709 is a circuit with a power controller for power control a high-pressure discharge lamp known, the output signal for another purpose, namely to limit the maximum permissible current is used.
- the operating circuit therefore has a power regulator, whose output signal contains information about the burning state of the High pressure gas discharge lamp supplies. It should be borne in mind that High pressure gas discharge lamps show a thermal increase in power and therefore in newer operating circuits, power regulators for power control anyway the high pressure gas discharge lamp are provided.
- the term "power controller" in this application is to be understood as that ultimately for a largely constant lamp power High pressure gas discharge lamp is provided in continuous operation. With that naturally also includes the cases in which a current or a voltage in the operating circuit is the actually regulated size, with which the same purpose of performance control is pursued.
- the output signal of the controller also does not necessarily have to be the ultimate control variable.
- a pulse width modulator control a circuit breaker, e.g. in a direct current / direct current converter operated.
- the controller output signal also has the advantage that a separate one Reference variable comparison device for determining the burning state can be omitted. A comparison is made anyway in the power controller already made.
- the characteristic of the power controller in the event of deviations the lamp power down, which are so large that they are in continuous operation does not occur, quasi "digital" behavior.
- the output signal in such cases a range of values in which in continuous operation with respect to smaller Fluctuations are regulated, leaves and by only for a relatively short period Time (e.g. controller integration time) passed through interval in one another value range or to a fixed other value (e.g. mass potential) is changed.
- Time e.g. controller integration time
- Such a controller characteristic therefore results when the high-pressure gas discharge lamp is switched on through the latter range of values or value the fastest possible and direct "start-up" to the target performance, shortly before reaching this target performance in the value range of continuous operation "to tilt” and the fine control in continuous operation in this area perform.
- This control characteristic leads to that of continuous operation deviating output signal to a direct for driving a simple Driver circuit or a simple circuit breaker of the ignition bridging device usable size. This will be the one for the Ignition time bridging function requires additional effort on one Minimum limited.
- the ignition time bridging device to be triggered with the described control signal can then be carried out according to the invention in various ways his.
- it is a transistor or Thyristor switch in a supply line of the second lamp. Since there generally only rectified currents can be switched the supply for the second lamp advantageously in the same direction Tapped area of the power supply of the high pressure gas discharge lamp. However, it can also be tapped in the AC range and then go through a separate rectifier.
- the power supply of the high pressure gas discharge lamp on the one hand and the output area of the controller can also be an electrical one Separation within the ignition bridging device makes sense his. Accordingly, a relay switch or an optocoupler can be used find, the latter in turn a non-separating switching element controls, e.g. a TRIAC, if the supply is not rectified the second lamp.
- a relay switch or an optocoupler can be used find, the latter in turn a non-separating switching element controls, e.g. a TRIAC, if the supply is not rectified the second lamp.
- Fig. 1 shows a schematic overview of the structure of an operating circuit according to the invention.
- a circuit section extends from a conventional AC power supply with phase conductor L, normal conductor N and protective conductor SL via a radio interference suppression FE, a rectifier GR, an active harmonic filter OWF, to which an electrolytic capacitor C is arranged, via a power-controlled direct current / Direct current converter DC / DC-W, a direct current / alternating current converter DC / AC-W and an igniter ZG to a high-pressure gas discharge lamp designated HID.
- a voltage U and current I are tapped multiplied to an actual power P and with a predetermined reference value P SOLL compared.
- the difference forms the input signal of a controller R.
- Its output signal S is fed to a pulse width modulator PWM, which drives a power transistor as a switching element in the DC / DC converter.
- PWM pulse width modulator
- the output signal S of the regulator R is applied as information about the burning state of the lamp to an ignition time bridging device ZZÜ, which is explained in more detail below and which controls the power supply of an incandescent lamp GL serving as a second lamp.
- the illustration shows that the control signal S outside the direct Circuit section between the power supply L, N, SL top left and the high-pressure gas discharge lamp HID is tapped at the top right. Rather, it comes from the power controller R, which in the present case Output power of the DC / DC converter regulates. This happens through the Pulse width modulator PWM and that indicated in the DC / DC converter Switching transistor T.
- Tapping the power P IST detected by the power controller R before the DC / DC converter has the advantage of a very low-loss determination because of the high input voltage and the low input current of the converter. Its power loss is known and can accordingly be taken into account when determining the reference variable P SET .
- the output signal S of the power regulator R is a zero potential, that is to say an output signal corresponding to its ground potential, if the detected power P ACTUAL is significantly smaller than the reference variable P SET .
- P IST comes close to the value of P SOLL
- the output signal S jumps to a value above 50% of the maximum value of its voltage supply within a relatively short integration time of a few 10 ms. In the value range above this 50%, the fine control takes place in the continuous operation of the high-pressure gas discharge lamp HID.
- the value zero of the control signal S thus corresponds to the information "Lamp does not burn” for the ignition time bridging device ZZÜ, the correspondingly releases the power supply for the incandescent lamp GL.
- the ignition lock-up device consists here of a between the incandescent lamp GL and ground Switching element or transistor Tr.
- the control signal S controls this Gate of the switching transistor Tr on.
- the other side of the incandescent lamp GL is over a fuse F with the rectified phase line between the Rectifier GR and the ballast VG connected.
- Fig. 2 embodies thus a particularly simple embodiment of the ignition time bridging device ZZÜ.
- Fig. 3 in which the switching element by a Thyristor switch Th is embodied. Furthermore, here is the other side of the Incandescent lamp GL connected to the output of a separate rectifier GR ', its input with the power supply between the radio interference suppression FE and the rectifier of the high pressure gas discharge lamp supply GR is connected.
- the connections of the incandescent lamp GL are already on the power supply side before the radio interference suppression FE.
- One of the connections is through one Relay switch X interrupted, as drawn with the help of a bipolar transistor B, on the basis of which the drive signal S is actuated.
- This circuit has the advantage of galvanic isolation between the Incandescent lamp circuit and the control signal S.
