Abstract

The mirror unit comprises two or more parallel mirrors spaced apart and with their reflective surfaces towards each other, the front one being partly translucent. The reflective coating of the rear mirror (3) is interrupted by engravings (5) or recesses without a reflective coating and through which light can pass, and a light source is situated behind this mirror. The engravings and recesses can be formed by advertising slogans and patterns, while the complete unit (1) forms a closed box. The light source can also be formed by a closed box (6) behind the rear mirror and of the same length and width as the mirror unit.

Description

The invention relates to a mirror arrangement with a depth effect, in particular for the design of rooms, comprising essentially two mirrors arranged at a distance parallel to one another with their mirror surfaces, the front mirror forming the insight side of the mirror arrangement being partially translucent.

Such mirror arrangements are generally known, they are mostly used in connection with mirror showcases, shop window designs, showrooms, theater backdrops or the like. Corresponding mirror arrangements are described in DE 27 30 679 A1 and DE 38 10 520 C2. These mirror arrangements are intended to give an observer an impression of infinite depth through the front, partially translucent mirror looking into the space behind. If there are objects between the two mirrors, the viewer sees them in almost endless succession, with both the front and back of the object being depicted and these images alternating with one another. If the front and rear mirrors are arranged plane-parallel to each other, the light rays are reflected in themselves, so that the mirror-image images of the object appear relatively quickly with increasing fake depth of the room Losing contrast and getting darker, so that the images further back are hardly recognizable.

It is also known from these publications to either rotate the front or the rear mirror to the other by a certain angle from the plane parallelism, as a result, the mirror images of the object no longer appear to one another in a straight line, but, depending on the angle, in different ways Directions.

Such known mirror arrangements of course require a relatively large depth, also in order to be able to arrange objects between the two mirror walls. For this reason, these known mirror arrangements are not suitable as wall elements for rooms, or as table tops or the like. to be used would take up too much space.

The object of the invention is therefore to design the mirror arrangement mentioned at the outset in such a way that it manages with a small structural depth, but on the other hand maintains the decorative depth effect and, moreover, can also be used for advertising purposes.

This object is achieved in that, in such a mirror arrangement, according to the invention the opaque mirror layer of the rear mirror is provided with engravings or recesses, in or from which the mirror layer is missing, and through which light can pass, a light source being provided behind the rear mirror is.
Because no objects or the like are arranged between the two mirrors, rather the engravings or recesses provided for mirroring are provided directly in the mirror layer of the rear mirror, so to speak in its plane, the mirroring of a front and rear view is avoided, there is only a mirroring of the front view the engravings or recesses, which, however, also seem to continue indefinitely, but the number of repetitive images is only half the number of images in the known mirror arrangements described above. Because the engravings or partial surfaces are not arranged between the two mirrors, but directly in the plane of the rear mirror, the distance between the images is twice as large and the absolute depth is the same.

The images get darker and deeper towards the back, they are repeated about 10 times, so that the visible depth of the mirror is about 20 times the distance between the two mirrors.

In a further development according to the invention, the engravings or recesses are advertising fonts and patterns.
Because, in contrast to the mirror arrangements described in more detail above, there are no rear views of these engravings or recesses, in particular therefore no rear views thereof, these engravings or recesses can also be fonts which the viewer always reproduces only correctly, that is to say not in mirror image wrong, are to be considered.

The mirror arrangement according to the invention is advantageously designed in the form of a closed box.
In this form, the mirror arrangement can be used as an easy-to-use "building block" with different dimensions for the equipment and for the arrangement on the walls of rooms.

The light source is advantageously designed as a closed box which is arranged behind the engraved mirror and has the same length and width as the mirror arrangement.
This design ensures, in particular, uniform illumination of the engravings and partial areas provided in the rear mirror.

In a further embodiment of the mirror arrangement according to the invention, the rear mirror is formed in two parts, the two parts abutting one another in the vertical central axis of the mirror arrangement, but with their surfaces not aligned plane-parallel to one another, but offset from one another at an angle α to the front mirror are.
This design of the mirror arrangement ensures that the central surface of the mirror arrangement, which is kept free of engravings or recesses, is enlarged compared to the plane-parallel arrangement Cloakroom mirrors or used as a mirror in clothing stores.

An exemplary embodiment which does not restrict the invention is described in more detail below with reference to the drawings.

The mirror arrangement 1 described in more detail below consists essentially of two mirrors 2 and 3 arranged at a distance a from one another, which are arranged plane-parallel to one another in the mirror arrangement 1 shown in FIG. 1a. The front mirror 2 forming the insight side of the mirror arrangement 1 is partially translucent, i.e. it allows the viewer a clear view of the mirror 3, which has an opaque mirror surface 4. If the viewer looks into the mirror arrangement 1, he will be able to recognize himself clearly and distinctly, the multiple images of his person caused by this mirror arrangement being at least partially hidden behind the first image and the main mirror image thus being clearly and clearly recognizable.

In order to equip this mirror arrangement 1 in accordance with the solution, the mirror layer 4 of the rear mirror 3 has engravings or recesses 5, in or in which the mirror effect is not present, rather they are Engraving or recesses 5 translucent. Sandblasting with the aid of templates is particularly suitable for producing such recesses. The broken surface of the glass caused by this treatment reflects the light particularly well and the figures shown shine very intensely and precisely.

As shown in FIG. 1b, these applications 5 should be provided laterally from the central surface of the mirror 3, so that a usable central surface remains. So that these applications 5 are now clearly recognizable, a box 6 corresponding to its dimensions in length and width is provided behind the mirror 3, in which light sources not shown in the figures are provided. The arrangement of these can correspond to the arrangement of the applications 5 in the rear mirror 3 and serve to illuminate them brightly so that they are also reflected by the front mirror 2.

Since these applications, i.e. the engravings or recesses, always have only one front side, i.e. there is no image of a back side of these applications, they are always repeated only in the correct, original reproduction, that is to say not in a mirror image.

This allows applications 5 e.g. also consist exclusively of fonts that remain legible even when repeated approximately ten times.

Because no objects are provided between the front and rear mirrors 2 and 3, the distance a between the two mirrors can be kept relatively small, so that this mirror arrangement 1 according to the invention is particularly suitable for decorating bathrooms, cloakrooms, clothing stores or the like. is suitable, but also for use as an advertising medium, because the advertisements provided in the rear mirror 3 or its mirror layer 4 can be read easily when looking into the mirror.

Ausnehmungen etc. freie nutzbare Spiegelfläche X.FIG. 2 graphically shows the mirror effect of the mirror arrangement 1 shown in FIG. 1a with mirrors 2 and 3 arranged plane-parallel to one another, resulting in a usable mirror surface X free of engravings or recesses etc. for the observer standing in front of the mirror.

In order to increase this usable mirror surface X, if necessary, in another embodiment, as shown in FIG. 3, the rear mirror 3 is designed to be divided in its vertical central axis, the two mirror parts 3 'each being at an angle α from the plane of the vertical central axis are offset towards the front of the front mirror 2. This arrangement of the two parts 3 'of the rear mirror results in a broadening of the usable mirror surface X in that the applications applied at the edge c are not reproduced.

This effect results from the fact that the lines b shown in FIG. 2 in the arrangement of the parts 3 'of the rear mirror shown in FIG. 3 do not run in a straight line but in a curve b'.

The angle α is to be selected as a function of the distance a between the two mirrors 2 and 3 and the most frequently used distance of the viewer from the entire mirror arrangement, the angle α being between 0 ° and 5 °.
