Description

The present invention relates generally to signaling lights for motor vehicles.

It relates more particularly to a signaling comprising a light source such as a filament lamp, flow recuperator, indicator light closure as well as an intermediate screen placed between the flow recuperator and indicator.

When one wishes to give such a fire signaling extinguishes a red tint, while the function sign must be of another color (for example amber for a direction indicator flashing light, or white for a reversing light or a front position light), it is usual to tint the light in pink and plan on the external face of the intermediate screen a set of opaque or semi-opaque red regions, for example shaped preferably horizontal parallel bands.

This known fire also comprises on the internal face of the seeing optical arrangements for light scattering, such as spherical balls or toric surfaces of preferably convex.

In particular to give fire when it is out a aspect as homogeneous as possible, it is classic, like shown in Figures 1 and 2 of the accompanying drawings which illustrate a known intermediate screen E and the indicator associated exterior V, to position the opaque bands B of so that they have the same pitch as the rows toroid toroid, preferably overlapping symmetrically the horizontal planes PT which extend to the transitions between two adjacent rows of Ti cores and Ti + 1.

This solution is however disadvantageous in that that it causes in the photometric reading of the fire completely undesirable dark areas because they prevent fire to comply with regulations at certain points of photometric grid measurement.

More specifically, if we refer to Figure 3 of drawings, we see that it exists in the shape of the beam obtained, defined by a set of isocandela curves, two horizontal bands B1 and B2 in which the light is absent, or at least largely insufficient.

These black bands are in fact the images, formed by the toroids, opaque bands B present on the screen intermediate.

Such a phenomenon would also be encountered if the balls or indicator toroids were replaced by streaks horizontal cylindrical.

This problem can also be encountered when opaque bands overlap horizontal transition planes between optical arrangements not on the face internal light, but elsewhere and especially on the face internal of the intermediate screen.

We know on the other hand, in particular by FR-A-2 427 549 and EP-A-0 180 145, a signaling light conforming to preamble of claim 1, which by the difference of not between the optical elements and the opaque bands, may not give rise to as markedly dark stripe phenomenon explained above.

The present invention aims to provide a fire signaling of the aforementioned type which, while retaining a similar appearance, remaining homogeneous, when it is off, generates a signaling beam no longer having the fault mentioned above, and which is further optimized in terms of uniformity.

Thus the present invention provides a fire signaling as defined in claim 1.

Preferred, but not limiting, aspects of the device according to the invention are defined in the claims dependent.

  • Other aspects, objects and advantages of the present invention will appear better on reading the following detailed description of a preferred embodiment thereof, given by way of example and made with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which :
  • FIG. 1 is a front view of an indicator and an intermediate screen, seen by transparency, of a signaling light of the prior art,
  • FIG. 2 is a view in vertical section of the indicator and of the intermediate screen of FIG. 1,
  • FIG. 3 illustrates by a set of isocandela curves the photometric appearance of the beam generated with the indicator and the intermediate screen of FIGS. 1 and 2,
  • FIG. 4 is a front view of an indicator and an intermediate screen, seen by transparency according to the invention,
  • FIG. 5 illustrates by a set of isocandela curves the photometric appearance of the beam generated with the indicator and the intermediate screen of FIG. 4, and
  • Figure 6 is a vertical sectional view of a signaling light incorporating an indicator and an intermediate screen according to the invention.
Referring first to FIG. 4, an indicator light closure 40 of a light according to the invention has on its face interior a network of optical elements, in this case convex toroids 41, arranged in a plurality of rows adjacent horizontal R1, ..., Rn, in a manner known per se.

It will be recalled here that tori are surfaces which have, respectively in horizontal section and in vertical section, circular radius profiles different, this in order to ensure a spread of the light different in horizontal direction and in direction vertical.

All the rows of toroids have the same height, with a vertical pitch P3 in this case chosen equal to 3 mm.

The intermediate screen 30 has on its external face a plurality of horizontal opaque or semi-opaque bands and parallel 31, produced for example by screen printing.

These bands 31 delimit two by two of the bands transparencies 32 for the passage of light emitted from inside the fire.

These bands have a regular pitch and preferably a constant width.

In this example, we position the bands opaque 31 so that a first strip 31c located at an intermediate height on the sight glass overlaps symmetrically an intermediate transition plane PTc between two rows of adjacent tori Ri, Ri + 1, and so that two opaque bands 31h and 31b located respectively on along the upper edge and the lower edge of the screen 30 or of a specific area thereof are not located horse on two rows of toroids as for band 31c, but are located, in a vertical direction substantially at center of a corresponding row of toroids, respectively R1 and Rn.

The bands 31 are distributed with a regular pitch, on the one hand between the intermediate strip 31c and the strip greater than 31h, and on the other hand between the intermediate band 31c and the lower strip 31b.

Because the two extreme bands occupy each times different relative positions with respect to rows of adjacent toroids, this results in an offset progressive bands with respect to the rows of toroids, from the overlapping position of the strip 31c to positions of the end bands 31h, 31b.

Because of this progressive shift, each pair of rows of toroid / strip behaves optically differently and as a result, as shown in FIG. 5, a reading photometric which is completely homogeneous, and in private person devoid of any dark or less lit area likely to make the beam non-compliant with regulations. At the same time, the effect rendered by the bands when the fire is out is substantially identical to that obtained in the case of FIG. 1, and in particular a good homogeneity of its appearance is preserved.

In this case, the intermediate screen and the indicator lights are common to two different light functions, the aforementioned PTc transition plan separating the two ranges illuminating.

Because the number of rows of toroids in the two illuminating areas is different, it follows that the pitch between bands is also different from range to the other.

With the concrete example as illustrated in figure 4, we end up for the bands located above the band intermediate 31c, at a pitch P1 of 3.18 mm and, for bands located below the intermediate band 31c, at a pitch of 3.23 mm P2.

Thus the ratio between the step P3 of the rows of toroids and the pitch P1 or P2 of the bands is in a case of 1.06, and in the other of 1.076.

An embodiment has been illustrated in FIG. 6 of a set of traffic lights fitted with a intermediate screen as described above, namely a direction indicator light and reversing light.

Dans chaque cavité pénètre à partir du fond une lampe, respectivement 20a, 20b.It includes a base 10 defining two cavities 11a, 11b, the bottoms of which constitute recovery mirrors flow 12a, 12b, for example of the parabolic kind. In each cavity penetrates from the bottom a lamp, respectively 20a, 20b.

The intermediate screen 30 covers the two cavities, the PTc transition plane overlapped symmetrically by the strip opaque 31c constituting the border between the beaches two lights. A light 40 comprising the optics 41 extends along and outside of screen 30. This indicator is tinted pink all over extended.

The upper light is a flashing light indicating direction and, to emit the required amber color, the part of the screen 30 located above the transition plane PTc is tinted green.

The lower light is a reversing light and, to emit the required white color, the part of the screen 30 located below the transition plane PTc is tinted blue. AT for this purpose, the screen 30 is preferably produced by molding in two steps.

When this set of two lights is turned off, the combination of the pink shade of the indicator light 40 and the color red opaque stripes 31 gives it a red appearance homogeneous, which goes well with other adjacent lights of red tint (position light, brake light, fog light back, ...).

Of course, the present invention is by no means limited to the embodiment described and shown, but the person skilled in the art will be able to bring there any variant or modification according to his spirit.

In particular, the present invention applies also in any situation where opaque or semi-opaque bands coexist with parallel rows of elements optics provided elsewhere than on the indicator.
