Description

The present invention relates generally to motor vehicle signal lights, and more particularly a new traffic light presenting a homogeneous appearance when it is off, for example a so-called "deep" aspect, that is to say giving the observer in front of the fire an illusion of great depth of the fire cavity.

Such a deep aspect light is produced so that classic, by providing on a first element of fire a plurality of relatively wide streaks and radius important, and by planning on a second element of fire or streaks, also relatively wide and of radius important, oriented substantially perpendicular to the streaks of the mirror.

A disadvantage of this known type of fire is present, despite the aspect of depth, an aspect not homogeneous due to the presence of the lamp, particularly visible.

We also know traffic lights with a windscreen around the lamp, so in particular to tint and / or deflect the radiation emitted by the lamp. The latter is clearly noticeable.

In particular, in GB-2 108 256, the convexity of the windscreen contrasts sharply with the concavity of the mirror. Furthermore, in DE-A-40 21 987, the wall striation front of the windshield contrasts significantly with the neighboring smooth mirror.

These differences in appearance, and therefore the lack homogeneity when the fire is out, will be even more noticeable in the case of a deep aspect fire such as defined above.

We also know from EP-A-0 340 328 a fire signage as defined in the preamble to the claim 1, wherein the fault problems homogeneity are not further resolved.

The first object of the present invention is to alleviate these disadvantages and to propose a fire comprising such windscreen and therefore the external appearance when it is off has good uniformity of appearance over its entire wide, while possibly presenting an aspect if necessary satisfactory depth.

Thus the present invention thus provides a fire motor vehicle signage as defined in claim 1.

Des aspects préférés, mais non limitatifs, du feu de signalisation selon l'invention sont définis dans les revendications 2 à 4 et 7 à 9.Preferred, but not limiting, aspects of signaling according to the invention are defined in the claims 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.

More secondarily, we know fires of signaling likely to emit radiation from different colors while presenting, when they are off, the same shade.

Reference is made in this regard to document FR-A-2 530 781 in the name of the Applicant.

If we try to combine the advantages of this fire known with deep aspect lights discussed more high, there is a major difficulty due to the fact that the intermediate screen necessarily provided behind the seeing in document FR-A-2 530 781 necessarily obstacle to achieving an aspect of depth, in the since this screen is partially opaque.

Cet objet est atteint par les revendications 5 et 6.The present invention therefore also aims to provide a signaling light having the advantages mentioned above and which also allows, with an exterior color given when off, to generate a beam bright in different shade. This object is achieved by claims 5 and 6.

  • Other aspects, aims and advantages of the present invention will appear better on reading the following detailed description of preferred embodiments thereof, given by way of non-limiting example and made with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which :
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a number of components of a signaling light according to a first embodiment of the invention,
  • FIG. 2 is a view in axial horizontal section of part of a signaling light according to a first alternative embodiment of the invention, and
  • Figure 3 is an axial horizontal sectional view of part of a traffic light according to a second embodiment of the invention.
Referring first to Figure 1, we have shown a traffic light which includes mainly a filament lamp (not shown), a mirror 1 defined by a fire base and at the bottom of which is formed an opening for the lamp, a windscreen 2 surrounding the lamp and comprising a front face 3, and an indicator 4 located in front of mirror 1 and defining with it a cavity.

The mirror 1 has a base surface 11 which can be a paraboloid or a mathematically defined surface to produce a desired angular distribution of the light beam, and on this base surface are made a plurality of streaks 12 which are in this case oriented vertically to generate or strengthen the horizontal spread of light. These streaks have preferably all the same width in projection and a radius significant curvature.

The indicator 4 has on its inner face a plurality of ridges 42 oriented perpendicular to the streaks 12 of the mirror, and therefore horizontally in this case these streaks preferably having all the same width, of the same order of magnitude as the width of the streaks 12, and a radius significant curvature.

Streaks 12 and 42 cooperate to give fire to signaling, off, an aspect of depth.

The indicator in this example has a tint pink, obtained for example by mixing a material standard red translucent plastic with material colorless transparent plastic in proportions about 20% -80%.

The translucent windshield 2 has a part of light passage 21, for example generally cylindrical, which is made with a shade chosen so that that in combination with the shade of indicator light 4, we obtain the desired shade for the light beam generated. More particularly, to get a beam basically colorless, corresponding to a reversing light, we tint the windshield 2 in blue. On the other hand, to obtain a beam of amber color, corresponding to a flashing indicator light direction, the lens is tinted green yellow.

According to one aspect of the present invention, the windshield 2 has a front face 3, visible from the outside, which is designed to blend in as much as possible with appearance from mirror 1 when the fire is out. In the present exemplary embodiment, this front face 3 has a concavity similar to that of the mirror, streaks 32 having preferably a width and a curvature close to those streaks 12 of the mirror, as well as properties of reflections close to those of mirror 1. So, if the mirror is produced by vacuum metallization, the face before 3 is preferably also.

In this way, the ridges 32 also cooperate with the striations of the indicator to give the fire an aspect of depth as homogeneous as possible when it is off. In addition, more conventionally, this front face 3 masks the shade of part 21 of the windscreen, so that the appearance extinguished fire pink, given by the shade of indicator light 4, practically not disturbed by the color of said part 21, which contrasts quite strongly with that of the seer. This masking the shade of the windscreen is all the more effective than the base surface 11 chosen for mirror 1 is far from an ordinary dish, for example being designed to ensure by itself a large spread, horizontal and if necessary vertical, light from the lamp.

We thus realize a traffic light which presents a pink appearance, different from the color of the beam to issue, and which at the same time has an aspect of regular depth over its entire extent, and in particular in front of the lamp.

According to this variant, the windshield 2 has an ordinary shape, with a wall lateral 21 generally cylindrical through which passes the light from the lamp towards the mirror, and a vertex 23 generally hemispherical, as well as means 22 wedging behind the mirror. The wall 3 'provided with streaks 32 is in this case carried out in one piece with the base which defines the mirror 1, being connected to the region of bottom of said mirror for example by a plurality of branches thin 33.

According to another alternative embodiment, illustrated on Figure 3, it is on the top 23 of the windshield 2 that directly formed the reflective coating, this being carried out only on a part of this vertex and arranged for example in strips 34 having for example the same orientation and the same width as the streaks 12 of the mirror 1.

This variant is suitable for avoid the black hole phenomena caused when the fire is on, if the front wall of the lens is obscured totally light.

According to yet another alternative embodiment, not illustrated, the coating formed on the front wall 3 or 3 ', whether it belongs to the windscreen or whether it came molding with the mirror, can be a semitransparent coating, that is to say having from the outside, when the fire is extinguished, a generally reflective appearance and similar to that of the mirror, but allowing a substantial proportion of light from the lamp to outside when the fire is lit.

In particular when the front wall 3 'is made in one piece with the mirror 1, the coating reflective of the mirror can be achieved with the same technical, the difference being that the semi-transparent properties of this coating are not used for the mirror.

Of course, the present invention is by no means limited to the embodiments described and shown, but the person skilled in the art will be able to bring there any variant or modification in accordance with its spirit, provided that the invention remains as defined by the claims.
