Abstract

An improved massage-like application device for a fluid product on the skin. The device comprises a head (1) for dispensing a fluid product and a case (2) containing said product, associated to form a unit through suitable means providing for an internal communication between both elements for the purpose of dispensing the fluid. The head (1) includes an application roller (15) with its general surface provided with a plurality of drop- or sheet-like embossments (17).
The device is applicable for massage-like spreading of a lotion or the like, exfoliating dead skin cells.

Description

  • The present Patent of Invention relates to an improved massage-like application device for a fluid product on the skin.
  • Various devices devised to spread a fluid product upon the skin surface form an integral part of the prior art.
  • The known devices generally consist of an enclosure containing a fluid, for instance a lotion, eau-de-Cologne or the like, and a dispensing head including layered fluid spreading means.
  • In certain devices, the said fluid product spreading means consist of a roller ball which on sliding upon the skin surface transfers the fluid from the head, which is kept constantly communicated with the enclosure, onto the skin, spreading it evenly.
  • Other known devices replace the roller ball with a roller or cylinder turning freely about its longitudinal axis.
  • In the latter case, a greater surface contact is achieved between the applicator and the skin.
  • In the above cases, however, head with a ball and head with a roller, the applicator's function is merely to spread the fluid product, carrying out no other action beneficial for the skin, namely, for instance, a massage action concurrently with an exfoliation of dead skin cells.
  • In the invention, a device has been conceived of the kind comprising a case containing a fluid, preferably a liquid product in the form of a lotion, and a head dispensing said liquid evenly onto the skin in layer-like fashion, the liquid dispensing means including second means specifically devised to provide a massage on the skin, concurrently upon the liquid being dispensed.
  • In accordance with the foregoing, the device subject hereof carries out the dispensing function of the liquid product, a lotion or the like, and exerts friction on the skin, providing a revitalising effect with a view to improving the flow and penetration of the lotion in the skin, concurrently descaling and eliminating the dead skin cells.
  • Broadly speaking, the device comprises a liquid product container, which container has conventional means on its top base to be associated to a specific head, that is in turn provided with conjugated means to such end, and which includes means for dispensing the liquid contents and second means capable of carrying out a massage or friction on the skin, in the actual liquid dispensing operation.
  • For ease of explanation, attached hereto is a sheet of drawings showing an embodiment cited for illustrative purposes.
  • In the drawings:
  • Figure 1 is a front elevation view of the liquid product dispensing head generating friction on the skin.
  • Figure 2 is a cross-section of said head, along II-II.
  • Figure 3 illustrates a cross-sectional exploded view of the elements constituting the head, base and application and friction roller, the base connected to the container of the liquid product to be dispensed.
  • Figure 4 is a semi-sectional front elevation view of the entire device, comprising the liquid product case or container and the dispensing and massage-generating head.
  • Figure 5 is a perspective of the device when in use.
  • With reference to the figures, the embodiment therein is a massage-like application device for a fluid product on the skin consisting of a dispensing head, generally designated -1-, and a case, generally designated -2-, containing the fluid product, such as a lotion, eau-de-Cologne or the like.
  • Both elements -1- and -2- have conjugated connection means, respectively comprising a cylindrical wall -3- with a screw thread -4-, and a cylindrical neck -5- projecting centrally from the top base -6- of the case-2-, externally provided with a screw thread -7-. Said connecting means have openings leading into the interior -8- of the case -2- and the head -1- dispensing means.
  • Said dispensing means comprise a prism-shaped box, rectangular in plan and open at the top, constituted on roughly the top middle portion of the head -1-. At the base of this box -9- there is a circular opening -10- leading into the interior of the case -2-. The shorter walls -9a- of said box -9- each include circular recesses -11- provided with guides -12- for the ends -13- of a roller -15- axis -14-, the recesses -11- serving as supports for said ends -13- for the purpose of enabling the roller -15- to rotate as it slides on a surface, namely the skin. The longitudinal sides of the box -9- each have rectangular recessed incuts -16- which provide a greater contact surface between the roller -15- and the skin.
  • A primary characteristic of the invention lies in providing on the surface of the roller -15- a plurality of evenly distributed drop- or tear-shaped embossments-17-, preferably adopting a quincuncial arrangement, which embossments exert a specific and successive friction- or massage-like pressure on the skin, dead skin cells being exfoliated concurrently upon the fluid being spread in sheet-like fashion.
  • In accordance with the above description, when the device -1-2- is arranged upside down or inclined, as shown in figure 5, the fluid contained in the case -2- flows through the neck -5- and opening -10-, reaching the roller -15- which, upon rotating on the skin -18-, transfers the product onto the skin, and the embossments -17- concurrently exert a friction or massage action on the skin, considerably enhancing flow and assimilation of the fluid.

Claims (2)

  1. An improved massage-like application device for a fluid product on the skin, of the kind comprising a product dispensing head and a case containing said product, associated to one another through conjugated connection means existing in both elements, which means lead into the interior of the case and the dispensing head, to transfer the product in the case onto the surface of a roller applying the product onto the application surface, particularly the skin, essentially characterised in that the surface of the application roller, generally flat, has a plurality of embossments spread equidistantly and evenly on said surface, said embossments exerting a specific and successive friction- or massage-like pressure on the skin concurrently upon the fluid being spread in a sheet-like layer.
  2. An improved massage-like application device for a fluid product on the skin, as in claim 1, characterised in that the embossments provided on the roller surface are drop-like, granular and pear-shaped.
