Definitions
- the present invention relates to a valve for a sprayer comprising a container capable of containing a spray product and a propellant, said valve comprising a control rod having an interior passage for said product, movable in a valve body between a valve closed position in which said passage is isolated from the interior of the container, and a valve open position in which said passage communicates with the interior of the container to allow drainage of product through said passage, the valve comprising at least one propellant intake port opening into the valve body to make a mixture of product and propellant, and means for closing said orifice when said control rod is in its closed valve position.
- the sprayer When the sprayer is of the head-to-head type top, i.e. intended to be used with the valve at the top, the product is brought to the valve body via a tube immersing in the product contained in the container to the neighborhood from the bottom of the latter.
- pressure balancing takes place after closing the valve, between the inside of the valve body and inside the container, causing a leveling of the product contained on the one hand in the valve body and the dip tube and on the other hand in the bottom of the container, so at least one emptying partial product contained in the valve body and the dip tube to the container.
- the dip tube and valve body are thus fill with a certain amount of propellant which leaves only with each new use the sprayer in pure loss.
- gas intake orifice thruster is blocked when the control rod is in its position to close the valve, to keep the valve body and the tube diver filled with product after first use of the sprayer because it saves gas propellant, particularly appreciable when the latter is compressed air which is not liquefiable inside the container, and whose volume occupies a significant place inside the container, to the detriment of the product to be sprayed.
- the object of the present invention is to propose a new valve which prevents after using the sprayer the product contained in the valve body and the dip tube does not empty towards the bottom of the container, and which is relatively constructed simple.
- control rod and the valve body in its region bordering said gas intake orifice propellant, have clean surfaces to support one on the other in said valve closed position to close said propellant intake port, at least one of said surfaces being tilted relative to the direction of travel of the control rod in the valve body.
- the closure of the outlet orifice of propellant can be carried out without the aid of fittings sealing in elastomeric material, so that the valve can be produced with a small number of component parts.
- She can in addition to being used without material compatibility problem for distribute products containing substances such as solvents, which may cause materials to swell elastomers traditionally used for the production of seals.
- said surfaces are conical.
- the rod control has a radial extension at one axial end which one of said surfaces is defined.
- said surfaces are coaxial and centered on a central axis of the control rod.
- said surfaces are coaxial and offset from a central axis of the rod control.
- one of said surfaces is defined on an insert on the rest of the control rod.
- the valve body then advantageously has a base to be fixed on the rest of the valve body after installation of said patch.
- the body of valve has a shoulder serving to support one end of a return spring of the control rod in its rest position, and delimits one end of a passage in which the rod extends control with a thin ring clearance.
- the invention also relates to a sprayer equipped with a valve as mentioned above, and in particular but not exclusively a sprayer in which said propellant gas is compressed air.
- FIG. 1 shows a valve 1 conforming to a first embodiment of the invention.
- This valve 1 comprises a control rod 2 capable of move in a valve body 3 between an open position of the valve, corresponding to FIG. 1, and a closed position of valve, corresponding to figure 2.
- Valve 1 is fixed on a container, known in itself and not shown, via a cup 4 to be crimped at its periphery on the container.
- the rod control 2 has a push button at its upper end known in itself and not shown for the sake of clarity of the drawing, having a spray nozzle.
- the valve body 3 has at its upper end an annular boss 5 crimped in a housing central 6 of the cup 4. The latter is provided with an opening 7 for the passage of the control rod 2.
- a sealing washer 8 is interposed axially between the upper end edge 9 of the valve body 3 and the wall 10 of the housing 6 bordering the opening 7.
- the control rod 2 slides tightly in contact with the aperture 11 of axis X of the sealing washer 8.
- the control rod 2 is hollow from its end edge upper to form an axial channel 12 for the passage of the product, this channel 12 emerging through a radial bore 13 on the periphery of the control rod 2.
- the radial bore 13 opens into the thickness of the washer 8 and is found closed as shown in Figure 2.
- the drilling radial 13 opens below the washer 8, into a cavity 14 of the valve body 3, to be supplied with a mixture of product and propellant gas to be sprayed as will be specified below.
- a helical spring 17 for returning the control rod 2 is wound on a cylindrical portion 18 of the control rod 2, serving as a guide.
- the spring 17 bears axially at its end upper on a shoulder 19, delimiting the upper portion 18, and at its lower end on a shoulder 20 of the valve body 3, delimiting the cavity 14 below.
- portion 18 of the control rod 2 is extended below by a portion 21 of smaller diameter, extending through a passage 22 of valve body 3. Passage 22 opens out below in a housing 23 of the valve body 3.
- the housing 23 has the shape of a right angle bend, comprising a lower branch 23 a extending radially and perpendicular to the axis X from the center of the valve body and an upper branch 23 b eccentric, extending upwards, parallel to the axis X, at the upper end of which opens an orifice 24 for taking propellant gas.
- the orifice 24 communicates by a radial bore 25 with an orifice 26 located on the external periphery of the valve body.
- the control rod 2 has a lower part 27 in U-shaped hook shape, able to move in the housing 23 to shut off, when the control rod 2 is returned by the spring 17 in its rest position, the orifice 24 for taking propellant gas. The control rod 2 releases it when it is pressed.
- the region of the valve body 3 bordering the orifice below 24 defines a conical surface 28 which widens downwards
- the part lower 27 of the control rod 2 is constituted by a part U-shaped, fixed at one end to the rest of the rod control 2 in the extension of the portion 21, and having the other end a conical surface 29 shaped to cooperate with the conical surface 28 to close the orifice 24.
- the part 27 has a blind bore 30 intended to receive a part of complementary shape formed at the lower end of the portion 21 of the control rod 2.
- the angle at the top of the surface conical 28 is about sixty degrees and the angle at apex of conical surface 29 is about half.
- the housing 23 is closed at its lower end by a part 31 attached to the rest of the valve body 3, this part 31 being fixed on the rest of the valve body 3 after fitting the part 27 on the portion 21 of the control rod 2.
- Part 31 below comprises a tip 32 intended to be inserted in a dip tube known per se and not shown, to supply the valve body 3 in product.
- valve 1 shown in Figures 1 and 2 The operation of the valve 1 shown in Figures 1 and 2 is as follows. At rest, as shown in Figure 2, the radial bore 13 opens into the thickness of the washer 8 and is finds it blocked. The sealing lip 15 is applied to the face lower 16 of the washer 8 under the action of the return spring 17. The orifice 24 is closed by the conical surface 29 of the part 27. Thus, the cavity 14 and the housing 23 inside the valve body can remain filled with product after the first use of the valve, to dispense the product at the next opening of the valve, without first starting with propellant gas only.
- valve 1 ' According to a second embodiment of the invention.
- the orifice 24 ′ for propellant gas intake is located in the new embodiment described at the lower end of a tubular end piece 33 ′ projecting downwards inside the housing 23 ′.
- the lower part 27 ′ of the control rod 2 ′ consists of an insert, in the form of a right angle bend, having a vertical branch 27 ′ a situated in the extension of the portion 21 of the control rod 2 ′ , and a horizontal branch 27 ′ b oriented radially outward, on the upper surface of which a conical recess 34 ′ is formed.
- This recess 34 ' defines a conical surface 29' which widens upwards.
- the tubular end piece 33 ' defines a conical surface 28' coaxial with the conical surface 29 ', externally bordering the orifice 24', and the recess 34 'is capable of coming to bear against the tubular end piece 33' to close the 'orifice 24' when the control rod 2 'is returned to its rest position by the spring 17, as shown in Figure 4.
- the housing 23' is closed below by an attached bottom 31 as described above and laterally, on the side of the radial bore 25 ', by a wall 35 which forms part of the valve body 3'.
- the recess 34' In the closed position of the valve 1 'the recess 34' is in pressing against the lower end of the tubular end piece 33 'of so as to seal the orifice 24 ′ of propellant gas intake, so that the inside of the valve body is isolated from the inside of the container and the product prevented from going back down into the dip tube.
- FIGS. 5 and 6 show a 1 '' valve, in accordance with a third embodiment of the invention.
- Valve 1 '' differs from valves 1 and 1 'previously described by the geometry of the lower part 27 '' of the control rod 2 '' and that of the region of the valve body 3 '' on which comes to bear the 27 '' part to close a 24 '' propellant intake port.
- the 3 '' valve body has a 23 '' housing at the bottom radially delimited by a 28 '' conical surface centered on the X axis and which leads to one end of a 25 '' radial channel for define the aforementioned 24 '' orifice. This 25 '' radial channel leads to its another 26 '' end on the periphery of the 3 '' valve body.
- the conical surface 28 '' extends the passage 22 below.
- the lower part 27 '' of the control rod 2 '' is in the form of a truncated cone 27 '' b extended above by a barrel 27 '' a used for fixing on the portion 21 of the control rod 2 ''.
- the lower part 27 '' has a conical surface 29 "radially delimiting the truncated cone 27 '' b , at the same angle at the top as that of the conical surface 28 '', and intended to bear on the latter to close the 'orifice 24'', when the control rod 2''is at rest, as shown in FIG. 6.
