An ink application device 2 interacts with an ink duct 1 of a rotary printing press. This ink application device 2 is shown in simplified form and essentially consists of an ink fountain 3, a color knife 4 and adjusting devices 6 acting on the ink knife 4. In the example shown, the adjusting devices 6 are designed as threaded screws 6 movable in the ink fountain 3, the respective end 7 of which is on the ink knife 4 acts in the area of the color ductor 1.
The ink knife 4 runs axially parallel to the ink duct 1 and the length l4 of the ink knife 4 corresponds to the length of the ink fountain 3. Essentially, the ink knife 4 consists of an insert strip 8, a clamping strip 9 and a plurality of ink knife blades 11. Insert strip 8 and clamping strip 9 are by means of Threaded screws 12 connected to each other and are cuboid with a length l8, z. B. l8 = 350 mm, and a thickness d8, z. B. d8 = 30 mm. The ink knife 4 is fastened by means of threaded screws 13 in the ink fountain 3. To accommodate the individual ink knife blades 11, the insert bar 8 and the terminal bar 9 are formed parallel to their common contact surface 14 so that in the connected state there is an axially parallel gap 16 of a width b16 running over the entire length l4 of the ink knife 4. This gap 16 extends from an end facing the ink ductor 1 to a depth t16, the width b16 of this gap 16 being reduced to a width br16 after a depth tr16, as a result of which the gap 16 is provided with a stop surface 17. The threaded screws 12 connecting the insert and clamping strips 8, 9 are arranged in the region of the reduced gap 16.
The color knife blades 11 are rectangular plates with a width b11, z. B. b = -40 mm, a length l11, z. B. l11 = 80 mm, and a thickness d11, z. B. d11 = 2.5 mm, formed and consist for example of spring steel. The thickness d11 of the ink knife blades 11 is somewhat larger than the width b16 of the gap 16 between the insert and terminal block 8, 9. In the fully assembled state, the ink blade blades 11 lie with their end 18 facing away from the ink duct 1 against the stop surface 17 formed by the offset gap 16 from insert and terminal block 8, 9 and are firmly clamped between insert and terminal block 8, 9. With its end 19 facing the ink duct 1, the ink knife blades 11 form an adjustable gap 21 to the ink duct 1, with each ink knife blade 11 being assigned its own adjusting device 6 for this purpose. The ink knife blades 11 are arranged close to one another at a small distance a11, which is, for example, 1 to 10 μm. This distance a11 is intended to enable the ink knife lamella 11 to move without reaction, but at the same time prevent ink from penetrating.

Klemmleiste 8, 9 in Längsrichtung.
The distance a11 between the ink knife blades 11 is set as follows:
The color knife blades 11 are aligned between the insert and terminal block 8, 9 with one end 18 on the stop surface 17 and inserted without a distance from one another. Then the ink knife blades 11 are slightly clamped between the insert and terminal block 8, 9 by means of the threaded screws 12. The ink knife blades 11 of the pre-assembled ink knife 4 are now heated, for example, to a temperature of 40 ° to 50 ° C. The heating can take place, for example, by means of a heating plate on which the ink knife blades 11 are placed, or a hot air blower directed at the ink knife blades 11. Due to the greatly differing thicknesses d11, d8 of the ink knife blades 11 and the insert and clamping strip 8, 9, the desired temperature is reached faster in the ink knife blades 11 than in the insert and clamping strip 8, 9. There is thus a temperature difference of, for example, 20 ° between the ink knife blades 11 and the insert or terminal strip 8, 9. The increase in temperature causes an increase in volume in the heated parts. This increases the width b11 of the individual ink knife blades 11. As a result of the temperature difference between the insert and terminal strips 8, 9 on the one hand and the ink knife blades 11 on the other hand, the length extension from the sum of the widths b11 of all ink knife blades 11 is greater than the length extension of the length l8 of the insert - or terminal block 8, 9 in the longitudinal direction. As a result of this different length extension, the ink knife blades 11 move relative to the insert and clamping strip 8, 9, the ink blade blades 11 being mutually supported and still being slightly clamped. Then the entire ink knife 4 cools down and both insert and terminal block 8, 9 and ink knife blades 11 reach a common temperature, for. B. Ambient temperature. As a result, the increase in the width b11 of the ink knife blades 11 and the length l8 of the insert and clamping strip 8, 9 is reversed. Since the ink knife blades 11 are clamped between the insert and clamping strip 8, 9, the positions of the respective ink knife blades 11 with respect to the insert and clamping strip 8, 9 are retained. Thus, the parallel distance a11 is formed between the respective ink knife blades 11. This distance a11 thus formed between the ink knife blades 11 depends on the temperature difference between the insert or terminal block 8, 9 and the ink knife blades 11 and the linear expansion coefficients of the materials of the insert or terminal strip 8, 9 and ink knife blades 11. After cooling, the Ink knife blades 11 firmly clamped between insert and terminal block 8, 9 by means of the threaded screws 12.

Instead of heating the ink knife blades 11 can a temperature difference between the ink knife blades 11 and insert and terminal block 8, 9 also by cooling the insert and terminal block 8, 9 are applied.

The color knife blades 11 can of course also on other ways, e.g. B. by individual screws on the Insert bar 8 be attached.
