Said portion (8a) is shorter than the distance between the two arms (3a, 3b) so that the flap (8) is transversely translatable. The pin (9) has a straight portion (9c) partially inserted into a correspondingly shaped recess (13) in one arm (3b). The pin (9) is thus prevented from rotating about its own axis. The passage (14) in said portion (8a) of the flap which receives the pin (9) has an inlet (14a) shaped to fit said portion (9c) of the pin (9). A coil spring (15) on the pin (9) biases the flap (8) towards said portion (9c) of the pin (9). When the flap (8) is in the folded down or locking position, said portion (9c) of the pin (9) is inserted into the inlet (14a) of the passage (14), thereby locking the flap (8).

Strap clasp including a locking flap (8) hingedly mounted on a transverse pin (9) perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the clasp, said locking flap (8) being designed for placement either in a first open position or in a second lowered or closed position, in which it holds together the two ends of the strap, characterised in that the pin (9) on which the flap (8) is hingedly mounted, is fixed both angularly and axially in the clasp, in that the locking flap (8) is arranged in such a manner as to be capable of carrying out a translational motion parallel to its hinge pin and against the urge of a resilient return device (15), and in that the hinge pin (9) of the locking flap (8) exhibits a segment (9c) having a section shaped for co-operating with a passage (14a) of a corresponding shape provided in the locking member (8), thus allowing a blocking of the locking member (8) when the same is in the lowered position.
    2. A clasp according to claim 1, characterised in that said segment (9c) having a shaped section of the hinge pin (9) of the locking member (8) is partly engaged in a recess (13) of a corresponding shape provided in the body (3) of the clasp, in such a manner as to substantially prevent said pin (9) from rotating about its axis.
    3. A clasp according to claim 1, in which the body (3) of the clasp is comprised of a stirrup-shaped part, between the branches of which (3a, 3b) said locking flap (8) is hinged, characterised in that the part (8a) of said locking flap (8) engaged on said hinge pin (9) of this member (8) on the body (3) of the clasp is of a length lesser than the distance between the branches (3a, 3b) of the stirrup-shaped part (3), in such a manner that the locking flap (8) may move, in a translational motion, along its hinge pin (9), a coil spring (15) being sandwiched between one (3a) of the branches (3a, 3b) of the stirrup (3) forming the body of the clasp and the end of the part (8a) of the locking flap (8) engaged on the pin (9) opposite to that exhibiting the shaped passage (14a), this spring coil (15) urging the locking flap (8) to move in the direction of the segment (9c) having a shaped section of the hinge pin (9) of the locking flap (8).
    4. Clasp according to claim 1, characterised in that the locking flap (8) exhibits, on its inner face, a protrusion (16), which makes it possible for the user of the clasp to act upon this flap when the flap is in its lowered locking position, to move the same, against the urge of the resilient return device (15) and thus to disengage the shaped part (14a) of the recess (14) from the corresponding shaped part (9c) of the pin (9) on which this shaped part (14a) is engaged when the flap (8) is in its lowered locking position.
