Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a press-in female connector for pressing into holes in a printed circuit board, each with contact springs made from a sheet metal strip, each consisting of a contact part, a fastening section and a connection area with a press-in part, and with a two-part insulating material body in which the contact springs in at least a row each arranged individually in chambers and fastened such that the press-in parts protrude from the lower insulating body part.
The pressing of such female connectors into the holes in a printed circuit board has previously been done in such a way that, on the contact part side, a pressure pin from above is inserted into each spring contact and thus into the insulating body, similarly as when the female connector is connected to a male connector, and then pressure is exerted. The previous press-in technique is problematic because the unfinished pressure pins come into contact with the contact springs, in particular with their spring tips, whereby damage due to the press-in force, which can be up to 120N for reliable contacting, cannot be ruled out. Since multipole female connectors predominate, the press-in pressure pieces required for pressing in each look like a nail board. Regardless of whether they are used in hand presses or in automatic press-in presses, these press-in pressure pieces are complex and cost-intensive tools, given the necessary precision and the large number of types required for each number of poles.
In the older German patent application with the file number DE-A-43 29 151 which does not belong to the prior art already described a pressable spring bar with a flat stamp. The construction there, in which a central inner insulating body part is provided on both sides with lugs, each of which engages in a recess provided in the fastening section of the contact springs, is mainly suitable for female connectors with a two-row arrangement of the contact springs.
The invention is therefore based on the object to provide a press-in female connector of the type mentioned, which can be pressed in with a flat stamp and which is particularly suitable for three-row contact springs.
This object is achieved in that the contact springs in the connection area each have two press-in shoulders, and in that the connection area is twisted at a fixed angle to the rest of the contact spring in such a way that the press-in shoulders interact with press-in surfaces formed in the lower part of the insulating body.
Weiterbildungen der Erfindung sind in Unteransprüchen gekennzeichnet.Developments of the invention are characterized in the subclaims.
The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the single figure of the drawing, which shows in the left part a view of the longitudinal side of the female connector and, in the right part, a view of the same female connector from the front side, each in section.
The figure shows an insulating body consisting of a lower 1 and an upper (2) insulating body part, in which, in three rows next to one another, contact chambers 7 are provided for receiving contact springs. The contact springs each consist of a contact part 3, a
When pressing in connectors with press-in connections in printed circuit boards, the desirable transition to a press-in technique "via plastic", that is to say pressing in by means of a flat stamp which is pressed onto the insulating body of the connector, is particularly difficult when transferring the pressing force from the insulating body to the Contact springs. Relatively large press-in shoulders are required in order to be able to provide sufficient surface area for transmitting the press-in force. The large press-in shoulders in turn minimize the contact chamber so that the overall space requirement remains constant. However, the contact springs with such press-in shoulders can no longer be easily fitted into the insulating body, since the press-in shoulders abut the walls of the contact chamber at the bottom.
The great advantage of the present invention is therefore that the not yet twisted contact springs can be fitted into the press-in direction from the side of the lower insulating body part facing the upper one insulating body part.
The connection areas can advantageously be twisted at an angle of approximately 75-105 ° in each case. It is advantageous for the deformation of the contact springs if they have a narrower point in the
During the assembly process, the contact springs are first inserted in the press-in direction, ie from above, into the upper side of the lower part of the insulating body. Then the upper 2 insulating body part is put on and locked.
