Definitions
- the invention relates to a tobacco cartridge according to the preamble of claim 1 and its use for the in-house production of cigarettes by the consumer.
- a tobacco product which consists of a pre-portioned tobacco supply, surrounded by cigarette paper for smoking in the form of a sleeve.
- the tobacco supply is designed as a dimensionally stable tobacco rod, adapted to the tobacco filling of the finished cigarette and as such not smokable, but consisting entirely of smokable material.
- the consumer can insert it into a prefabricated cigarette paper tube.
- the tobacco cartridge used here consists of a homogeneous tobacco core and a casing that ensures dimensional stability. Due to the high air permeability of the casing, the tobacco cartridge cannot be smoked as such.
- the coaxial filter cigarette according to patent specification DE 39 01 226 C1 is a cigarette with a strand part comprising an inner core made of a largely residue-free smoldering material, in particular tobacco material, a wrapper for the inner core, an outer jacket coaxially surrounding the inner core or its wrapper from a tobacco and / or non-tobacco material as well as a covering for the outer jacket. Furthermore, the cigarette has a filter part with a filter core, an air-impermeable covering for the filter core, a filter jacket and a covering for the filter jacket.
- the zone of the main heat source is in the inner core of the strand part, while the zone in which the major part of the aerosol entering the mouth of the smoker is generated is in the outer jacket of the strand part.
- the filter section largely reduces the combustion gases and smoke particles.
- the coaxial cigarette described in DE 37 43 597 C1 also has a ventilated coaxial filter. Among other things, this also serves to add air.
- DE 43 21 069 A1 provides for the establishment of a smoke mixing zone between the tobacco rod and filter for the targeted mixing of the gases formed in the inner core and in the outer jacket of the strand part.
- All three publications are based on the idea of greatly expanding the possible variations of the taste impressions to be achieved by choosing the materials for the inner core and outer jacket of the strand part. These possible variations are improved to the extent that substances can be applied to the inner core covering which influence the aroma and / or the burn-up. So far, however, this multitude of taste impressions has not been available to consumers who make their own cigarettes.
- Another advantage of using a coaxially constructed tobacco rod is that the compressibility of the tobacco body can be improved without the "end failure" quality criterion being below an acceptable limit.
- the compressibility of the tobacco body is determined by the packing density. In order to increase the compressibility, the packing density must be reduced with conventional tobacco cartridges. However, there are limits to this, since the "end failure" becomes too large if the packing density is too low. If a tobacco cartridge according to the invention with a coaxially constructed tobacco rod is used, a medium to high packing density can be provided for the inner core, which is surrounded by a stabilizing covering, such as tobacco foil.
- the packing density of the outer casing of the coaxial tobacco rod can be significantly below the packing density of a conventional one Tobacco strands lie without the "end failure" exceeding a critical limit.
- a tobacco cartridge constructed in this way has better compressibility due to the low packing density of the outer jacket, but this is not associated with the disadvantage of increased "end failure", since the tobacco cartridge is stabilized by the inner core with the covering.
- the low packing density of the tobacco cartridge is therefore not achieved by a particularly filling grade or expanded tobacco, since these would counteract the goal of better compressibility.
- the packing density of a conventional tobacco cartridge is approx. 230 mg / cm3.
- a packing density of 140 mg / cm3 to 200 mg / cm3 can be selected for the outer jacket of the tobacco cartridge constructed coaxially according to the invention.
- the range from which the packing density for the outer jacket is selected is preferably 150 mg / cm 3 to 180 mg / cm 3.
- a value of 160 mg / cm3 for the packing density of the outer jacket is particularly advantageous.
- the inner core preferably has a packing density between 220 mg / cm3 and 300 mg / cm3.
- the range from 230 mg / cm3 to 260 mg / cm3 is particularly preferred.
- the packing density of the inner core is advantageously 250 mg / cm3.
- the filling capacity of the tobacco used should be 3.5 cm3 / g to 5.5 cm3 / g.
- the range 4.0 cc / g to 4.5 cc / g is preferred for the filling capacity of the tobacco.
- the filling capacity of the tobacco is advantageously 4.2 cm 3 / g.
- Tobacco with a lower filling capacity than for the inner core can also be selected for the outer casing of the coaxially constructed tobacco rod. This also ensures the higher compressibility of the tobacco cartridge. This gives the product developer a further design or equipment option for the tobacco cartridge, since a not so low packing density of the outer jacket means that further taste variations can be achieved.
- the filling capacity of the outer jacket is preferably 3.5 cm3 / g to 4.2 cm3 / g in particular 3.8 cc / g.
- the filling capacity of the inner core is advantageously in the range 4.5 cm3 / g to 5.5 cm3 / g, in particular 5.0 cm3 / g.
- a likewise coaxially constructed filter element can be used, which also has an inner core, a sheath for the inner core, an outer jacket, and a jacket for the outer jacket.
- This allows a further variation in the flavor of tobacco smoke to be achieved.
- a mixing space can be provided between the tobacco cartridge and the filter element, in which the tobacco smoke from the inner core and outer jacket can mix before it reaches the consumer through the filter element.
- the filter is advantageously constructed as a multiple filter consisting of coaxial filter elements and standard filter elements such as cellulose acetate.
- One or more chambers, preferably in the axial direction, can also be provided within the multiple filter, so that the filter can be configured differently for the consumer.
- the chambers can be empty or filled with granular granules or activated carbon.
- the filter elements can be attached directly to the tobacco cartridge. However, it is also possible to integrate the filter elements into the sleeve.
- the tobacco cartridge 10 has a tobacco rod 21 with an inner core 27 made of a first tobacco mixture, a stabilizing covering 28 for the inner core 27 made of paper or in particular made of tobacco foil, an outer jacket 29 made of a second tobacco mixture and a covering 23 made of highly porous or highly perforated cigarette paper or Tobacco film for the outer jacket 29.
- the perforations for the casing 23 are indicated in FIG. 1 by the reference number 14.
- the envelope 23 can also be inherently porous, e.g. in the form of a teabag paper.
- a filter 22 can be attached to the tobacco rod 21 of the tobacco cartridge 10, which in the embodiment according to FIG. 2 is constructed as a coaxial filter, ie an inner core 227, a Has casing 228 for inner core 227, an outer casing 229 and a casing for outer casing 229; in the example, the outer casing 23 of the tobacco rod 21 serves as the casing for the outer casing 229 of the filter 22, ie it fulfills a double function here.
- the filling capacity of the tobacco mixture is about 4.2 cm3 / g while the packing density of the inner core 27 is about 250 mg / cm3 and that of the outer jacket 29 is about 160 mg / cm3.
- a mixing chamber 221 (see FIG. 2) is formed between the tobacco rod 21 and the attached filter 22 of the tobacco cartridge 10.
- the tobacco rod 21 of the tobacco cartridge 10 is made up entirely of components that can be consumed by smoking, but because of the high air permeability of the wrapper 23, it only takes place after it has been introduced into the opening 16 of a cigarette paper sleeve 11 that matches its length and diameter (see FIG. 1) or after additional Wrapping with a matching cigarette paper roll in length and width can be smoked by the consumer.
- the perforations 14 in the wrapper 23 should be at least in the area of the tobacco cartridge 10 that surrounds the tobacco rod 21; it is also possible to additionally provide such perforations 14 in the casing 23 of the filter part 22 if correspondingly perforated or porous zones in the mouth-side region of the sleeve 11 are to interact with the perforations in the casing of the filter part 22.
- the tobacco cartridge 10 can also contain only the tobacco rod 21, that is to say no filter 22; if such a tobacco cartridge is to be used as a filter cigarette, a cigarette paper tube 11 with an integrated filter 12 must be used, as indicated in FIG. 1.
- This filter 12 of the cigarette paper sleeve 10 can also be designed as a coaxial, ventilated filter.
- At least one detachable, smoke-impermeable blocking element 401 is provided on the tobacco cartridge 10 on at least one of the two end faces of the tobacco cartridge 10.
- This locking element 401 can be separated in the circumferential direction by a perforation 402 and serves e.g. as a safeguard to prevent children from smoking.
- the covering of the inner core 28 can be acted upon by substances which influence the aroma and / or the burn-up.
- substances which influence the aroma and / or the burn-up.
- Such substances are used in the cigarette industry as customary additives and are therefore not explained in more detail.
- the tobacco cartridge 10 is preferably surrounded by an additional outer, aroma and moisture-preserving covering 24, which encloses the entire tobacco cartridge 10. This can be removed by the consumer before use.
- the wrapping or packaging 24 suitably consists of plastic, cardboard or paper.
- the tobacco cartridge 10 is excessively long in relation to the tobacco receiving space of the cigarette paper tube 11, so that tobacco cartridge sections with a precise length are created only after the tobacco cartridge 10 has been appropriately subdivided by the consumer.
- the length of the tobacco cartridge 10 preferably corresponds to an integer multiple of the length of the receiving space of a cigarette paper tube 11, even more preferably 2 or 3 times this length.
- the mixing space 221 between the tobacco rod 21 and the filter 22 of the tobacco cartridge 10 in the embodiment according to FIG. 2 serves to mix the smoke streams coming from the two tobacco mixture parts 27 and 29 in a targeted manner and thereby to produce targeted taste impressions.
- the air permeability of the casing 28 for the inner core 27 of the tobacco rod is expediently lower than the air permeability of the casing 23 of the outer casing 29, which results in a further design parameter.
- the separation of Burley and Virginia tobacco varieties is an example of possible taste variations due to different tobacco mixtures in the inner core and in the outer jacket.
- flavorings such as e.g. Menthol can be added.
- a customary cigarette paper sheet (not shown) can also be used, in which the tobacco cartridge 10 is wrapped, as is known for the "self-rolling of cigarettes".

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a tobacco cartridge according to the preamble of claim 1 and its use for the in-house production of cigarettes by the consumer.
From DE 34 07 461 C1 a tobacco product is known which consists of a pre-portioned tobacco supply, surrounded by cigarette paper for smoking in the form of a sleeve. The tobacco supply is designed as a dimensionally stable tobacco rod, adapted to the tobacco filling of the finished cigarette and as such not smokable, but consisting entirely of smokable material. For self-production of filterless or filter cigarettes, the consumer can insert it into a prefabricated cigarette paper tube. The tobacco cartridge used here consists of a homogeneous tobacco core and a casing that ensures dimensional stability. Due to the high air permeability of the casing, the tobacco cartridge cannot be smoked as such.
A similar system is known from DE 41 07 026 C1, the envelope of the tobacco cartridge measuring areas of extreme porosity between 25,000 and 40,000 in cm³min⁻¹cm⁻² at 1 kPA Coresta units according to DIN ISO 2965. The remaining part of the wrapper and parts of the cigarette paper covering the wrapper of the sleeve must be low-porous. By moving the tobacco cartridge and cigarette tube against each other, the consumer should be able to adjust the amount of air mixed with the smoke according to his wishes.
The problems raised in the tobacco cartridge sector concerned either the insertion of the cartridge into the sleeve, the possibility of supplying the desired air, or the desired variability of the cartridge length.
However, these tobacco cartridges have the disadvantage that they only comprise a homogeneous tobacco core and thus only allow a limited variation in taste impressions for the consumer. In the field of filter cigarettes, this problem was solved by using coaxial filter cigarettes, as is known from the patents DE 39 01 226 C1, 37 43 597 C1 and the published patent application DE 43 21 069 A1.
The coaxial filter cigarette according to patent specification DE 39 01 226 C1 is a cigarette with a strand part comprising an inner core made of a largely residue-free smoldering material, in particular tobacco material, a wrapper for the inner core, an outer jacket coaxially surrounding the inner core or its wrapper from a tobacco and / or non-tobacco material as well as a covering for the outer jacket. Furthermore, the cigarette has a filter part with a filter core, an air-impermeable covering for the filter core, a filter jacket and a covering for the filter jacket. The zone of the main heat source is in the inner core of the strand part, while the zone in which the major part of the aerosol entering the mouth of the smoker is generated is in the outer jacket of the strand part. The filter section largely reduces the combustion gases and smoke particles.
The coaxial cigarette described in DE 37 43 597 C1 also has a ventilated coaxial filter. Among other things, this also serves to add air.
In addition, DE 43 21 069 A1 provides for the establishment of a smoke mixing zone between the tobacco rod and filter for the targeted mixing of the gases formed in the inner core and in the outer jacket of the strand part. All three publications are based on the idea of greatly expanding the possible variations of the taste impressions to be achieved by choosing the materials for the inner core and outer jacket of the strand part. These possible variations are improved to the extent that substances can be applied to the inner core covering which influence the aroma and / or the burn-up. So far, however, this multitude of taste impressions has not been available to consumers who make their own cigarettes.
However, it can be assumed that, as with the consumers of prefabricated factory cigarettes, the consumers of homemade tobacco products also have very different, individual taste requirements for the cigarette. Therefore, in this area too, a need for increased variation options for the taste impression can be expected.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a tobacco cartridge and its use for the in-house production of cigarettes by the consumer, which avoid the above disadvantages and in particular allow a wider range of taste impressions.
This object is achieved according to the invention by providing a coaxial tobacco cartridge as defined in claim 1.
Due to the coaxial arrangement of two different tobacco mixtures in the inner core and in the outer jacket of the tobacco cartridge effects that are not possible with a single tobacco blend. Thus, the advantages known for the coaxial filter cigarettes with regard to possible variations in the taste impression are also made available to the consumer group of self-turning / filling.
- a) type, total mass and total volume of the first tobacco mixture (in the inner core),
- b) type, total mass and total volume of the second tobacco mixture (in the outer casing) and
- c) Type, total mass and total area of the inner core covering and their additives.
By combining with different filter sleeves, even more different alternatives can be constructed.
Another advantage of using a coaxially constructed tobacco rod is that the compressibility of the tobacco body can be improved without the "end failure" quality criterion being below an acceptable limit. The compressibility of the tobacco body is determined by the packing density. As a result, the packing density of the outer casing of the coaxial tobacco rod can be significantly below the packing density of a conventional one Tobacco strands lie without the "end failure" exceeding a critical limit. A tobacco cartridge constructed in this way has better compressibility due to the low packing density of the outer jacket, but this is not associated with the disadvantage of increased "end failure", since the tobacco cartridge is stabilized by the inner core with the covering. The low packing density of the tobacco cartridge is therefore not achieved by a particularly filling grade or expanded tobacco, since these would counteract the goal of better compressibility.
The packing density of a conventional tobacco cartridge is approx. 230 mg / cm³. In contrast, a packing density of 140 mg / cm³ to 200 mg / cm³ can be selected for the outer jacket of the tobacco cartridge constructed coaxially according to the invention. The range from which the packing density for the outer jacket is selected is preferably 150 mg / cm 3 to 180 mg / cm 3. A value of 160 mg / cm³ for the packing density of the outer jacket is particularly advantageous. The inner core preferably has a packing density between 220 mg / cm³ and 300 mg / cm³. The range from 230 mg / cm³ to 260 mg / cm³ is particularly preferred. The packing density of the inner core is advantageously 250 mg / cm³.
Vorteilhafterweise liegt die Füllfähigkeit des Tabaks bei 4,2 cm³/g.The filling capacity of the tobacco used should be 3.5 cm³ / g to 5.5 cm³ / g. The range 4.0 cc / g to 4.5 cc / g is preferred for the filling capacity of the tobacco. The filling capacity of the tobacco is advantageously 4.2 cm 3 / g.
Die Füllfähigkeit des Innenkerns liegt vorteilhafterweise in dem Bereich 4,5 cm³/g bis 5,5 cm³/g, insbesondere bei 5,0 cm³/g.Tobacco with a lower filling capacity than for the inner core can also be selected for the outer casing of the coaxially constructed tobacco rod. This also ensures the higher compressibility of the tobacco cartridge. This gives the product developer a further design or equipment option for the tobacco cartridge, since a not so low packing density of the outer jacket means that further taste variations can be achieved. The filling capacity of the outer jacket is preferably 3.5 cm³ / g to 4.2 cm³ / g in particular 3.8 cc / g. The filling capacity of the inner core is advantageously in the range 4.5 cm³ / g to 5.5 cm³ / g, in particular 5.0 cm³ / g.
As a filter for a coaxially constructed tobacco cartridge, a likewise coaxially constructed filter element can be used, which also has an inner core, a sheath for the inner core, an outer jacket, and a jacket for the outer jacket. This allows a further variation in the flavor of tobacco smoke to be achieved. There are various advantageous variants for the arrangement of the filter element on the tobacco cartridge. Thus, a mixing space can be provided between the tobacco cartridge and the filter element, in which the tobacco smoke from the inner core and outer jacket can mix before it reaches the consumer through the filter element. The filter is advantageously constructed as a multiple filter consisting of coaxial filter elements and standard filter elements such as cellulose acetate. One or more chambers, preferably in the axial direction, can also be provided within the multiple filter, so that the filter can be configured differently for the consumer.
The chambers can be empty or filled with granular granules or activated carbon.
The filter elements can be attached directly to the tobacco cartridge. However, it is also possible to integrate the filter elements into the sleeve.
With the filter elements described above, different flavors can be achieved with the same tobacco cartridge with the same condensate and nicotine values if different coaxial filters are used. This is particularly true when filter elements are used that treat the smoke from the inner core and outer jacket in significantly different ways. The smoker can thus decide which filter he wants to use for a particular tobacco cartridge in order to get the flavor he wants. By means of filter elements constructed in this way, clearly different flavors can be achieved with the same tobacco cartridges.

The
The filling capacity of the tobacco mixture is about 4.2 cm³ / g while the packing density of the
A mixing chamber 221 (see FIG. 2) is formed between the
The
The
As an alternative to the embodiment according to FIG. 2, the
This
In the embodiment according to FIG. 4, at least one detachable, smoke-
In order to reproduce the taste impressions, the covering of the
The
According to a further embodiment, the
The mixing
The air permeability of the
The separation of Burley and Virginia tobacco varieties is an example of possible taste variations due to different tobacco mixtures in the inner core and in the outer jacket. In addition, flavorings such as e.g. Menthol can be added.
As an alternative to the embodiments shown, instead of a prefabricated
