Definitions
- the invention relates to an assembly of a shoe and an element restraint designed to restrain an athlete's leg on a board slips, and in particular that of a skier on a ski.
- the invention also relates to a shoe and an element of retained from this group considered in isolation.
- the stiffness of the spring is adjustable, so that the shoe is released from the fixing element for a stress exceeding a determined solicitation threshold.
- This threshold is commonly called trigger point.
- a shoe is retained by a fastening element front whose jaw is movable at least laterally towards inside or outside of the foot, which corresponds to a stress in torsion.
- Current bindings have a trigger threshold generally equal towards the inside of the foot.
- fastening elements which have a different trigger threshold depending on the direction of tilting of the jaw.
- Such elements are for example described in French patents FR 1 503 847, 1 503 848, 1 503 849, or still in the German patent application published under number 18 07 074.
- the problem posed by the invention is to further improve the protection of the skier. It consists in perfecting this threshold effect of variable trigger depending on the direction of the solicitation torsion.
- the shoe locally has an asymmetrical shape, and the retaining member has symmetrical retaining means specific which is intended to cooperate with the asymmetrical form of the shoe. It follows from this cooperation that the threshold of trigger is different depending on the direction in which the shoe stresses the retainer.
- the asymmetrical shape of the shoe is for example a undulation of the edge of the sole or a shoulder with which cooperates an elastic finger of the retaining element which is recalled by a spring.
- the element of retainer has a two-stage, one-stage retaining jaw lower with grip on sole and upper stage with grip on rod, and the shoe has a sole or an upper, one of the sides of which has been reduced. The shoe is pressed against the jaw of a side on the upper and the other on the sole.
- Figure 1 shows a top view of the front part of a shoe 1 engaged in a front retaining element 2.
- the element of restraint shown is largely known from the request of French patent published under number 2 419 737.
- This element 2 comprises a body 3 intended to be connected in solidarity with skiing.
- the body has an internal housing 5 in which is a spring 6.
- the body In its rear face, the body has two support zones 7 and 8 against which the spring applies so elastic retaining jaw 9.
- the rear end of the spring is indeed in abutment against a wall 11 of the body, and its end front is in abutment against a plug 12 guided in sliding at inside the housing, and connected to the jaw by means of a pulling 13 which crosses the rear face of the body.
- the jaw is in one piece and has two wings 15 and 16 of lateral retaining, as well as a sole clamp 17 of retaining vertical.
- the jaw rests on the body by the two zones 7 and 8. It can rotate around any of these areas, which causes the displacement of the tie rod backwards, to which the spring opposes elastically by compressing. If the jaw swivel is sufficient, it lets out the end of the shoe. There is shoe release.
- the stress threshold that the shoe must overcome to be released is commonly called threshold of trigger. It mainly depends on the stiffness of the spring and its initial compression, which in this case is adjustable by screwing plug 12 located at the front of the tie rod.
- the retaining element also has a support plate 18 on which rests the shoe sole.
- the front of the shoe 1 has a toe cap connection with the jaw 9.
- This nozzle is in two parts, one part lower sole 20 and upper part of upper 21.
- the jaw 9 retains the shoe by a grip on rod, that is to say that the lateral retention of the shoe is located at the level of the upper.
- the shoe In a centered position of the jaw, i.e. a position aligned with the median longitudinal and vertical plane defined by the ski, the shoe has two main areas 23 and 24 of contact with the jaw, which provide the connection in a horizontal plane between the shoe and jaw.
- a third contact zone 25 is provided at the level of the sole. This zone is located in the immediate vicinity of the median plane. This area also has an asymmetry. In Figure 1, it is visible that the left part of the shoe sole presents on its front side a slightly wavy shape 26 from an elongation local of the sole, in relation to the right part.
- the corrugation 26 is provided to cooperate with a retaining means elastic of the retaining element.
- This means is formed by a boss movable central support 32, housed in a recess 33 of the jaw, and pushed back elastically by two parallel springs 34 and 35. Under the action of springs 34 and 35, the boss is supported by lateral shoulders against the rear wall of the recess 33 that the central part of the boss 32 crosses.
- the ripple 26 of the shoe is slightly offset to the side left of the shoe to come to rest against the left side of the boss 32.
- the sole can move laterally relative to the jaw without the whole formed by the ripple and the boss does not oppose this movement.
- the shoe must overcome the threshold of release of the retainer to be released.
- ripple 26 is on the left side of the sole, that is to say as shown in FIG. 1, for a left shoe, and conversely it is symmetrically on the right side of the sole for a straight shoe. Of this way, it makes it easier to release the shoe from the outside of the retainer only on the inside.
- the boss 32 has no particular influence on a traditional shoe, i.e. if a standardized shoe is engaged in the retainer.
- the boss behaves like a traditional central support. Its elastic mobility can advantageously facilitate the support of the shoe in the jaw by three separate points, as described for example in the French patent application published under number 2,463,629.
- shoe 1 which can be called a special shoe, is used with a traditional fixing element, that is to say provided to work with a standardized shoe, the presence of ripple 26 disrupts the connection between the jaw and the shoe only if the ripple of the shoe may interfere with the support central or the wings of the jaw.
- the upper part of the sole will provide the supports needed.
- the lower part of the sole will however produce an asymmetry of the trigger thresholds with an element of restraint provided for this.
- the boss 26 could have a roller or any other suitable means to facilitate the relative movement of the sole of shoe.
- the boss 32 could be carried by the body of the retaining element, and reach the sole under the jaw
- Figure 4 shows an alternative embodiment of the invention.
- the retaining element is of the same type as the previous item, apart from the fact that the retaining jaw 38 holds the shoe laterally by a grip on the sole.
- the jaw 38 has a finger 39.
- the finger 39 is oriented towards the rear. Its base in the shape of a half sphere is housed in a housing 40 of the jaw.
- a spring 41 recalls elastically the finger in position aligned with a direction longitudinal and horizontal. The finger can oscillate elastically around from this position against the restoring force opposed to it by the spring.
- the finger carries a roller at its rear end.
- the shoe As for the shoe, it presents near the median plane a small shoulder 42 which is intended to cooperate with finger 39.
- the shoulder is for example obtained by a progressive deformation of the stem over part of its contour ending in the shoulder.
- the length of the finger is provided so that the rear end of the finger is engaged against the shoulder 42 when the shoe is found in the jaw in a centered position.
- Figure 6 shows the shoe biasing the jaw 38 in the sense where its shoulder 42 carries with it the end of the finger 39.
- the finger 39 offsets from the alignment of the jaw, causing a compression of the spring 41.
- the shoe must overcome the restoring force of the finger 39 in addition to the triggering threshold of the retaining element.
- the shoulder can move freely without dragging your finger.
- the shoe must only defeat the trigger level of the retainer. So, if we equip a left shoe with a shoulder like shoulder 42, the shoe will be more easily released for a torsional stress of the leg going towards the inside of the foot that in the other direction, towards the outside of the foot. Naturally, the shoe right would have a symmetrical shoulder.
- the right and left retaining elements are however identical, and they can be reversed without consequence for the functioning of all.
- the finger 39 will not be driven or one way or the other, in which case a shoe will be released in the same way in both directions of solicitation.
- finger 39 could be worn not by the jaw but by the body of the fastener.
- Figures 7 to 10 relate to another variant of implementation work of the invention.
- the retaining element for example has a structure with a jaw carried by the body, and a body mounted on a pivot. The body is mobile around the pivot, against the elastic restoring force developed by a spring.
- This construction is known for the most part from the French patent application published under number 2,517,214. This element will not be described in more detail, and as it will appear in the following, many other types of construction are suitable also.
- the jaw has two superimposed stages, the upper stage provided for a grip on the upper of the shoe, the lower floor provided for a grip on the sole.
- the jaw of the element 50 has two upper wings 51 and 52 provided for taking on a rod, and two lower wings provided for a grip on the sole. Wings 51 and 53, 52 and 54 located on the same side are for example in one piece.
- the opening of the wings can be adjustable.
- the jaw may present in plus a central support 56 carried out in the traditional way.
- the wings of a storey are relatively shortened compared to wings of the other floor, so that the arm to lift with which the wings transmit to the spring the stresses of the shoe either weaker with the wings of one floor than the wings of the other, and that, this fact, one obtains a release of the shoe relatively more easy with one floor than the other.
- FIG. 9 The front of a special shoe intended to cooperate with the retaining element is shown in Figure 9.
- This element has a front end with part of traditional rod 56.
- the part of sole 57 has a local asymmetry. So the sole is reduced on one of the side edges 58.
- the other edge lateral 59 is slightly extended or accentuated laterally by compared to a traditional sole part.
- Figure 10 shows the front of the shoe engaged in the retaining element 50.
- the shoe bears on wing 51 of the upper floor by pressing on the rod.
- the shoe is on wing 54 of the lower floor by pressing on the sole.
- the edge 59 has been accentuated on this side to move the upper wing 52 away from the rod, and avoid a double on this side support.
- the shoe shown in Figures 9 and 10 would be a left shoe.
- the right shoe in this case has a toe cap whose shape is symmetrical to that of the endpiece shown.
- the element restraint is compatible with each of the two shoes, and has a symmetrical structure.
- toe cap with an interchangeable sole part, so as to exchange part 57 with a part of traditional form.
- This embodiment is susceptible of numerous variants. In first place it would be possible to shorten not the wings lower 53 and 54, but the upper wings 51 and 52 to have a taken on a normal upper, and a weaker grip on the sole.
- the upper part is asymmetrical and the sole part would be symmetrical.
- Another possibility is to play on the way the wings wrap the toe of the shoe.
- Figure 11 shows such a variant.
- the retainer 60 shown is of the type with fixed body and independent retaining wings. he is known for the most part of its structure according to the patent application French FR 2,640,516.
- the element has two stages of wings, one stage upper wing 61 and 62, provided for a grip on the upper of the shoe, and a lower stage 63, 64 provided for a grip on the sole.
- the shoe has a front toe with a sole portion 67 of symmetrical shape.
- the rod portion 66 has been modified by a reduced area 68.
- the upper wings 61 and 62 envelop the rod more pronounced as the lower wings 63 and 64, so that the release of the shoe by the grip on the sole is easier than by the plug on rod.
- the lever arm of the upper wings 61 and 62 remains more larger than that of the lower wings 63 and 64, but the wings upper 61 and 62 are relatively longer and enveloping than the lower wings, that is to say to release the shoe they must be opened at an angle greater than the wings 63 and 64.
- the reduced zone 68 is provided so that on the side of the rod, the shoe is worn on the jaw by the sole. On the other side, the shoe wears on the jaw through the other unmodified area 69 of the rod.
- the shoe is more easily released on the side of the reduced area 68 only on the side of zone 69.
- the shoe of Figure 12 is a left shoe.
- the shoe right carries a reduced area on the right of its stem.
- the special shoe of Figure 12 can also be engaged in a standard retainer with grip on sole of the same way that a normal shoe, without changing the only ones of trigger.
- the retaining element is not limiting, and others retainer structures are suitable, and in particular, an element with fixed body and independent movable wings as described by example in patent application FR 2 640 516, retaining element to fixed body with movable wings linked by a crossmember, as described for example in patent application FR 2 625 911. Other types elements are also suitable.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an assembly of a shoe and an element restraint designed to restrain an athlete's leg on a board slips, and in particular that of a skier on a ski.
The invention also relates to a shoe and an element of retained from this group considered in isolation.
In the case of alpine skiing, it is known to retain a shoe in support on a ski by means of a fixing element or front retainer and a rear attachment or retainer which retain front and rear end pieces of the shoe. These two fasteners include a jaw carried by a body. The jaw is movable in response to shoe stresses against the return force of a spring which opposes its movement.
The stiffness of the spring is adjustable, so that the shoe is released from the fixing element for a stress exceeding a determined solicitation threshold. This threshold is commonly called trigger point.
To be able to use shoes with the different elements fixing or retaining the market, the shape of the front end caps and rear of shoe has been standardized. In the system of ISO standardization, the current standard has the ISO 5355 reference. fasteners are designed to be compatible with the standardized areas of the shoe and ensure the release of the shoe has determined trigger values.
At the front, a shoe is retained by a fastening element front whose jaw is movable at least laterally towards inside or outside of the foot, which corresponds to a stress in torsion. Current bindings have a trigger threshold generally equal towards the inside of the foot.
We know that the knee of the skier who is stressed during a fall in torsion is more fragile for an inward rotation of the foot than for outward rotation.
07 074.To take this into account, fastening elements have been proposed.
which have a different trigger threshold depending on the direction of
tilting of the jaw. Such elements are for example described
in
The major disadvantage of this kind of device is that it requires a pairing between boots and skis, i.e. skis right and left must be necessarily identified, and that the skier must especially put on the right ski with his right shoe and the ski left with the left shoe. Above all, he must not reverse the skis when fitting, otherwise the opposite effect is obtained. This problem also comes the fact that according to the standard, the toe caps are symmetrical with respect to a median vertical plane, and therefore does not exist at a priori no need to distinguish and identify the right ski and the left ski. It is therefore up to the skier to pay attention to the direction in which he presents his skis for putting on.
The problem posed by the invention is to further improve the protection of the skier. It consists in perfecting this threshold effect of variable trigger depending on the direction of the solicitation torsion.
According to the solution proposed by the invention, this effect is obtained whatever whether the direction in which the skis are worn, right or left.
élément de fixation tel qu'il est défini dans la revendication 1.This problem is solved by the combination of a shoe and a
fastening element as defined in
revendication 18.It is also resolved by the fixing element as defined in
The shoe locally has an asymmetrical shape, and the retaining member has symmetrical retaining means specific which is intended to cooperate with the asymmetrical form of the shoe. It follows from this cooperation that the threshold of trigger is different depending on the direction in which the shoe stresses the retainer.
The asymmetrical shape of the shoe is for example a undulation of the edge of the sole or a shoulder with which cooperates an elastic finger of the retaining element which is recalled by a spring.
According to another embodiment of the invention, the element of retainer has a two-stage, one-stage retaining jaw lower with grip on sole and upper stage with grip on rod, and the shoe has a sole or an upper, one of the sides of which has been reduced. The shoe is pressed against the jaw of a side on the upper and the other on the sole.
brevet français publiée sous le numéro 2 419 737.Figure 1 shows a top view of the front part of a
This
verticale. In known manner, the jaw is in one piece and has two
The jaw rests on the body by the two
The retaining element also has a
inférieure de semelle 20 et une partie supérieure de tige 21.In known manner, the front of the
In the embodiment shown, the
In a centered position of the jaw, i.e. a position
aligned with the median longitudinal and vertical plane defined by the ski, the
shoe has two
The
bossage 32.The
It is thus understood that if the shoe requests the jaw of
retained on the right side, i.e. towards the bottom of the figure, the
On the other hand, for movement in the other direction, the sole can move laterally relative to the jaw without the whole formed by the ripple and the boss does not oppose this movement. For this direction of movement, the shoe must overcome the threshold of release of the retainer to be released.
Having a lateral grip of the shoe by the upper, and having the ripple on the sole is advantageous because thus, the ripple does not disturb the lateral release of the shoe.
To further protect the knee for rotation of the foot
inward,
For each shoe, this effect is obtained indifferently with either of the retaining elements of the pair of skis. That is to say that a location of these retaining elements as a straight element or left is useless, and that an inversion of the retaining elements has no consequence.
Advantageously, the
If
To remedy this, it is possible to make end caps interchangeable shoe, and replace the special toe with a traditional tip.
Another possibility is illustrated in Figure 3. Instead of
the
So if the special shoe is engaged in an element traditional, the upper part of the sole will provide the supports needed. The lower part of the sole will however produce an asymmetry of the trigger thresholds with an element of restraint provided for this.
chaussure.As a variant, the
atteindre la semelle sous la mâchoireAccording to another variant, instead of being carried by the jaw, the
Figure 4 shows an alternative embodiment of the invention.
According to this variant, the retaining element is of the same type as
the previous item, apart from the fact that the retaining
At the height of the rod, the
As for the shoe, it presents near the median plane a
The length of the finger is provided so that the rear end of the
finger is engaged against the
Figure 6 shows the shoe biasing the
In the other direction of stress, the shoulder can move
freely without dragging your finger. To be released, the shoe must
only defeat the trigger level of the retainer.
So, if we equip a left shoe with a shoulder like
The right and left retaining elements are however identical, and they can be reversed without consequence for the functioning of all.
Advantageously, if a standardized shoe is engaged in
the retainer of Figure 6, the
If the special shoe of figure 5 is engaged in an element
traditional restraint, the presence of the shoulder does not risk
disrupt the connection between the jaw and the shoe only if the element
retains the shoe by a grip on rod. To avoid this, it is
possible to mount the shoulder on a front toe of the shoe
interchangeable with a standard tip. Another possibility is to

Figures 7 to 10 relate to another variant of implementation work of the invention. According to this variant, the retaining element for example has a structure with a jaw carried by the body, and a body mounted on a pivot. The body is mobile around the pivot, against the elastic restoring force developed by a spring. This construction is known for the most part from the French patent application published under number 2,517,214. This element will not be described in more detail, and as it will appear in the following, many other types of construction are suitable also.
The particularity of the retaining
The wings of a storey are relatively shortened compared to wings of the other floor, so that the arm to lift with which the wings transmit to the spring the stresses of the shoe either weaker with the wings of one floor than the wings of the other, and that, this fact, one obtains a release of the shoe relatively more easy with one floor than the other.
les ailes supérieures 51 et 52.For example, as shown, these are the
The front of a special shoe intended to cooperate with
the retaining element is shown in Figure 9. This element has a
front end with part of
appui.Figure 10 shows the front of the shoe engaged in
the retaining
From the above, it is understood that on the
If a standard shoe is engaged in the
If the shoe of FIG. 9 is engaged in an element of traditional restraint, there will be no major disruption if the element is of the plug type. If the element is of the plug type on the sole, an adjustment of the retaining element will be necessary. Account holding the asymmetrical shape of the sole part, it is likely that the release of the shoe will not be symmetrical, but more easy for a twist of the leg towards the inside of the foot, which goes in the direction sought by the invention.
To avoid any disruption, it is also possible to provide a
toe cap with an interchangeable sole part, so as to exchange
This embodiment is susceptible of numerous variants. In
first place it would be possible to shorten not the wings
lower 53 and 54, but the
For the shoe, the upper part is asymmetrical and the sole part would be symmetrical.
Another possibility is to play on the way the wings wrap the toe of the shoe.
français FR 2 640 516.Figure 11 shows such a variant. The
According to FIG. 11, the element has two stages of wings, one stage

zone réduite 68.The shoe has a front toe with a

The
Here, the lever arm of the
tige.The reduced
68 que du côté de la zone 69.The shoe is more easily released on the side of the reduced
The shoe of Figure 12 is a left shoe. The shoe right carries a reduced area on the right of its stem.
If a traditional shoe is engaged in the element of retained from Figures 11 and 12, it will be released with the same threshold of trigger on both sides.
The special shoe of Figure 12 can also be engaged in a standard retainer with grip on sole of the same way that a normal shoe, without changing the only ones of trigger.
If the retainer is on a rod, an opening adjustment wings will no doubt be necessary. In addition, the shoe will be without doubt released towards the outside of the ski more easily than towards the interior, which goes in the desired direction.
Other variants are also possible. For example, it would also possible to offset the asymmetrical zone of the shoe and the level of the jaw which cooperates with it beyond the area standardized shoe, for example on the upper beyond a distance of 14 mm from the sole which corresponds to the standard zone. Thus, the shoe would be completely compatible with elements of traditional restraint.
D'autres types
d'éléments conviennent également. In addition, the retaining element is not limiting, and others
retainer structures are suitable, and in particular, an element
with fixed body and independent movable wings as described by
example in
More generally, the invention is not limited to the various embodiments which have been described. It includes the equivalents, the variants, and all the constructions defined in the claims appended.
