From DE-A-24 17 286 a circuit breaker ("overcurrent switch") is known, in which an elongated hole is provided concentrically with its pivot axis in a switch-off lever. In the slot there is a hook bolt, which is guided with its ends in straight slots in the housing of the switch. The hooking bolt interacts with a switch lever which is pivotally mounted in the switch and which has a hook at one end. The other end of the hook bolt is assigned to the magnetic release and the bimetal release of the known circuit breaker.

The invention has for its object to develop a circuit breaker of the type mentioned above so that the switching operations are improved with regard to the movement of the components of the circuit breaker without impairing its tripping properties.

According to the invention, this object is achieved in that the switch toggle is connected to the movable switching bridge via a bracket and a tab, that the arm of the bracket connected to the bracket is guided in a slot guide, that the other arm of the bracket is connected to the switch, that the slot of the slot guide is provided in a pawl which is pivotally mounted in the switch lock and which can be latched at its end opposite the pivot point with a pawl rest, that the pawl rest pivotably mounted in the switch lock is assigned the bimetallic and magnetic release, so that the slot is angled is and from a part which is substantially parallel to the direction of displacement of the tab, and consists of a part which is inclined to the direction of displacement of the tab, extends away from the switching knob, and that the leg of the bracket received in the slot in the ON position in the part of the slot extending away from the switching knob is received.

In the exemplary embodiment shown, the circuit breaker is of single-pole design. However, it can also be designed with up to four poles for nominal currents from 63 to 125 A.

The circuit breaker has a housing, of which only one housing half-shell is shown in the drawings.

In the housing there is a switch lock 1, on which the switching bridge 2 is pivotally mounted about a pivot axis 3 that is movable (rotatable) in the switch lock 1, a magnetic release 4, on the support of which the bimetallic release 5 and adjacent fixed contacts 6 are also mounted, and one Arc quenching device, consisting of deion chamber 7 with arc quenching chamber 8 and blow-off openings 9, which lead out of the housing into the open.

Furthermore, the connecting terminals 10 and 11 are accommodated in the housing, the connecting terminal 10 being electrically conductively connected to the component carrying the magnetic release 4. The terminal 11 is electrically conductively connected to the lower (not visible in the drawing) fixed contact.

The two fixed contacts 6 are electrically connected by the switching bridge 2 in the ON position.

Each fixed contact 6 is assigned its own deion chamber 7 and its own arc quenching chamber 8, the two arc quenching devices being arranged separately from one another and magnetically insulated from one another by a dividing wall (not shown) made of sheet iron.

The magnetic release 4 interacts with the switching lock 1 to trigger the circuit breaker in a manner to be described, via a lever 12 which is pivotably mounted on it. The free end of the bimetallic release 5 also interacts with the switch lock 1 for triggering the circuit breaker.

Fig. 2). The magnetic trigger 4 is adjusted via an armature spring 13 accommodated in it (see FIG. 2). To adjust the bimetallic release 5, an adjusting screw 14 is provided, which is accessible from the outside through an opening in the housing.

In the line circuit breaker according to the invention, switching on and triggering (pivoting of the movable switching bridge 2 into the ON position shown in FIG. 1 or into the OFF position shown in FIG. 3) always takes place via the switch lock 1, regardless of whether it is switched off via the bimetallic release 5 or the magnetic release 4 or with the help of the switching knob 15 provided in the switching lock 1. On the other hand, switching on always takes place with the help of the switching knob 15 via the switching lock 1, in that the switching knob 15 is pivoted.

The switching lock 1 shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, including the movable switching bridge 2 pivotably mounted on it, is designed as an independent component which can be used in the housing when the circuit breaker according to the invention is assembled.

The switching lock 1 consists of two lock plates 20 and 21 which are connected to one another via the pivot axes 3, 22, 23 and 24. The switch toggle 15 is pivotally mounted on the pivot axis 22 of the switch lock 1.

The shift knob 15 consists of two parts, namely the actual shift knob 15 and two spring holders 25, which are pivotally mounted on the axis 22 coaxially to the shift knob 15. The switch toggle 15 is loaded by a button spring 26 into its pivot position corresponding to the OFF position shown in FIG. 3. For this purpose, one leg of the spring 26 is supported on the one lock plate 21 and the other leg on the end 27 'of a spring 27 which passes through the spring holder 25.

The spring holder 25 (two spring holders 25 are provided in the exemplary embodiment shown, see FIG. 7) is braced by two spring springs 27, which are accommodated in the interior of the switching knob 15, with respect to the switching knob 15, so that the spring holder 25 against the switching knob 15 against Power of these springs 27 are pivotable. This is of importance for the jump switching to be described, which can be implemented in the circuit breaker according to the invention.

In the switching lock 1 provided in the circuit breaker according to the invention, the switching knob 15 is over its two Spring holder 25, coupled via a bracket 30, a tab 31 and a switching bridge tab 32 to the movable switching bridge 2.

In particular, the essentially U-shaped bracket 30 is inserted with one of its legs in holes 33 of the two spring holders 25 and engages with its other leg in an opening 29 of the tab 31.

The tab 31 is coupled to the switching bridge tab 32 via a joint 34. The switching bridge tab 32 has two mutually parallel parts 35 which are connected to one another via a web 36. Like the movable switching bridge 2, the switching bridge tab 32 can be pivoted about the axis 3 rotatably inserted in the switching lock. Two contact springs 37 are inserted over the axis 3, the legs of which are supported on the one hand on the movable switching bridge 2 and on the other hand on the switching bridge tab 32.

One leg 35 of the switching bridge tab 32 also carries an extension 38, into which a tear spring 39 is suspended, the other end of which is suspended in an extension 40 which is formed in one piece with the lock plate 21.

Due to the described construction of the arrangement of switching bridge tab 32 and movable switching bridge 2, the switching bridge tab 32 can pivot at the end of the switch-on process (movement of the movable switching bridge 2 from the OFF position to the ON position) relative to the moving switching bridge 2, so that the latter under the Effect of the two contact springs 37 is pressed with their two contact ends 41 against both contacts 6 fixed to the housing.

The leg of the bracket 30 coupled with the tab 31 is guided in a backdrop (slot guide). This backdrop is formed by slots 50 in the two legs of a pawl 51. The pawl 51 is pivotally mounted in the switch lock 1 about the axis 24, the two legs of the pawl 51 being connected by a web 52.

In order to prevent the two legs of the bracket 30 from approaching one another under the action of the switch-on forces and the contact forces, a support tab 53 is provided whose ends associated with the leg of the bracket 30, which is coupled to the tab 31, have holes which the said leg of the bracket 30 engages. At the other end, the two mutually parallel parts of the support bracket 53 have a recess into which the other leg of the bracket 30 engages.

The end of the pawl 51 facing away from the pivot axis 24 is assigned to a pawl support 60. The pawl support 60 is pivotally mounted in the switch lock 1 about the axis 23 and is loaded by a tension spring 61 onto the pawl 51 or the tab 31. In the ON position shown in FIG. 1 (or in the position ready to be switched on), the free end 51 ′ of the pawl 51 is latched to the pawl support 60 in that a shoulder 62 of the pawl 51 on a shoulder 63 of the pawl support 60 lies on.

Furthermore, two projections 64 and 65 are provided on the pawl support 60, which are assigned on the one hand to the lever 12 of the magnetic release 4 and on the other hand to the free end of the bimetal release 5. When the components mentioned address the pawl support 60 is pivoted counterclockwise and releases the pawl 51.

In the switch lock 1, a catch 70 is also pivotally mounted about the axis 24, which is under the action of a spring 71, which loads it clockwise (FIG. 4).

The leg of the bracket 30, which is coupled via the bores 33 to the spring holders 25 of the switching knob 15, runs into a recess 76 of the detent 70 when the switching knob 15 pivots clockwise from the position shown in FIG. 3 into the position shown in FIG. 6 becomes. When the switching knob 15 is moved further (clockwise), its spring retainers 25 are pivoted with increasing tension in the spring springs 27. An attachment 72 is provided on the switching toggle 15, which on the catch 70 in the region of a recess 73 provided in it runs when the coupled to the tab 31 leg of the bracket 30 is approximately in the region of the slot 50 of the slot guide in the pawl 51, where it from a portion running essentially parallel to the direction of displacement of the tab 31 in the from the pivot axis 22 of the Switch toggle 15 runs away part (about the position shown in FIG. 6).

In the case of the line circuit breaker described, the switching operation takes place via the switching lock 1. The switching toggle 15 actuates the switching bridge 2, which is driven via the tab 31 and the switching bridge tab 32, via the bracket 30 guided in the link (slot 50 in the pawl 51) and which Contacts 41 are pressed onto the contacts 6. The latching mechanism of the switch lock 1 according to the invention consists of the latch support 60 with its shoulder 63 and the latch 51 engaging in this with its shoulder 62.

It is triggered either by the bimetal 5 heated and bent by an overcurrent or by the lever 12, which is moved by the plunger over the armature of the magnetic release 4 when a short-circuit current flows through the coil of the magnetic release 4.

In the switching lock 1 according to the invention, the triggering process can take place independently of the position or any blocking of the switching knob 15 (free triggering).

In the ON position of the circuit breaker according to the invention, the pawl 51, with its shoulder 62, which is provided on a web connecting the two parallel parts of the pawl 51 and protrudes therefrom, has engaged in the shoulder 63 of the pawl support 60. The position of the switching knob 15 is reached and held by the joint, which is formed from the spring holders 25 (bores 33) and the bracket 30, being exceeded.

The movable switching bridge 2 is on the bridge tab 32 and the tab 31 and the one facing away from the switch toggle 15 Part of the slot 50 in the pawl 4 locked leg of the bracket 30 tensioned. In this position, the tear spring 39 is tensioned and pulls the switching bridge 2 away from the fixed contacts 6 at the moment of triggering.

In the ON position, both contact springs 37 are also tensioned in order to build up the contact pressure. With a larger bearing hole (play of the same with respect to the axis 3) in the bearing bracket 2 'of the movable switching bridge 2 and the symmetrically arranged contact springs 37, an uneven contact erosion can be compensated for in the circuit breaker according to the invention.

In the case of the circuit breaker according to the invention, it is also possible to provide a contact position indicator 80 which is visible from the outside through a viewing window 81 in the housing, the red field of the contact position indicator 80 being visible from the outside in the ON position shown in FIG. 1.

When the circuit breaker according to the invention is triggered, starting from the ON position shown in FIG. 1, the pawl support 60 is pivoted either by the bimetal 5 or by the lever 12 against the force of the spring 61 and the pawl 51 is unlocked, so that the angled in the Parts 50 'of the slots 50 of the legs of the bracket 30 are moved out of these parts 50' and the movable switching bridge 2, driven by the tear spring 39, is pivoted into the OFF position shown in FIG. 2. The leg of the bracket 30 received in the slots 50 of the pawl 51 moves into the end of the slots 50 of the pawl 51 that is distant from the axis 24 about which the pawl 51 is pivotally mounted.

If the release is effected by the magnetic release 4, the movable switching bridge 2 is additionally pushed open by the plunger of the magnetic release 4, thus preventing the contacts 41 and 6 from welding.

If the movable switching bridge 2 is nevertheless welded to the fixed contacts 6, the red field on the contact position indicator remains 80 visible in the viewing window 81 in the housing of the circuit breaker.

If the circuit breaker is in the OFF position (contacts open), the pawl 51 is raised by the switching knob 15, which is pressed into the OFF position by the spring 26 loading it, via the bracket 30 and is ready to be moved into the Hook shoulder 63 of the pawl support 60 when this is pivoted back under the action of the spring 61.

The tear spring 39 is also (somewhat) tensioned in this position in order to keep the movable switching bridge 2 in the OFF position.

The pawl support 60 is pressed by the force of the spring 61 against the shoulder 62 of the pawl 51 in order to be ready for the latching.

In the viewing window 81, the green field of the contact position indicator 80 indicating the OFF position is visible from the outside.

In the circuit breaker according to the invention with the switch lock described, the function of the snap-on switching is as follows:
The switch toggle 15 is pivoted clockwise when switched on (FIG. 1) until the leg of the bracket 30 coupled to the tab 31 bears against the catch 70. As a result, the tab 31, the switching bridge tab 32 and thus the movable switching bridge 2 are prevented from moving further, even if the switching toggle 15 is pivoted further (position FIG. 6). In this position, the contact ends 41 of the movable switching bridge 2 are approximately 1 mm in front of the fixed contacts 6 and, regardless of the continued movement of the switching knob 15, do not move any further.

When the switching knob 15 is pivoted further, the spring springs 26 which are already preloaded are tensioned even further until the shoulder 72 of the switching knob 15 on the catch 70 in their Recess 73 runs up and the catch 70 lifts. At this moment, the initially blocked switching bridge 2 with that spring force, which is supplied by the spring springs 26, abruptly abuts with its two contacts 41 into contact with the fixed contacts 6 via the tab 31 and the switching bridge tab 32, and the switch is closed.

A switch according to any of claims 1 to 8, characterized in that the staple (30) is connected to the switch knob (15) through at least one spring retainer (25) which can pivot relative to the switch knob (15) against a spring bias, in that a detent (70) is provided, pivotally mounted in the latch (1) and against which the arm of the staple (30) connected to the bar (31) stirkes when the switch knob (15) moves from the OFF position to the ON position, and in that a projection (72) is provided on the switch knob (15) and strikes the detent (70) at the end of turning the switch knob (15) into its position corresponding to the ON setting, in the sense of turning the detent (70) to release the staple (30).
  10. A switch according to claim 9, characterized in that the detent (70) is pivotally mounted in the latch (1) about the same axis (24) as the catch (51).
  11. A switch according to claim 9 or 10, characterized in that the detent (70) is acted on by a spring (71) which biases it into its pivotal position associated with the one arm of the staple (30), and in that a projection (75) is provided in the latch (1) which limits the turning of the detent (70) in the one direction and cooperates for this with a projection (74) on the detent (70).
  12. A switch according to any of claims 1 to 11, characterized in that the pivoted contact bridge (2) has two contact surfaces (41) which are associated with two fixed contacts (6), and in that the pivoted contact bridge (2) is pivotally mounted by a bearing lug (2') arranged symmetrically relative to the pivoted contact bridge (2), on a pivot (3) fixed between two latch plates (20, 21) of the latch (1) parallel to one another.
  13. A switch according to claim 12, characterized in that contact springs (37) are provided on both sides of the bearing lug (2') and have one arm bearing on the pivoted contact bridge (2) and the other arm bearing on the contact bridge bar (32).
  14. A switch according to any of claims 6 to 13, characterized in that the contact bridge bar (32) has two mutually parallel arms (35) which receive therebetween the end of the bar (31) associated with the pivoted contact bridge (2).
  15. A switch according to claim 9, characterized in that the projection (72) of the switch knob (15) strikes the detent (70) when the arm of the staple (30) coupled to the bar (31) is located in the region of the transition from the part of the slot (50) of the slot guideway (51) substantially parallel to the sliding direction of the bar (31) and the part (50') extending away from the switch knob (15).
