Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for burning a waste consisting essentially of at least one additive containing plastic.
Dabei dient die Zugabe des Tonerdegranulats zur Mischung und dazu spontan gebildete gegebenenfalls aufgekohlte Agglomerate durch die Mahlwirkung der Inertgranulat enthaltenden Mischung wieder zu zerreiben.EP 0 419 992 A2 discloses a process for the combustion of granular synthetic resin waste, in particular of ion exchangers, in which dry resin, mixed with alumina granules or moist masses, is burned together with air in a fluidized bed. The addition of the alumina granules to the mixture serves to grind spontaneously formed, if necessary carburized, agglomerates again by the grinding action of the mixture containing inert granules.
It is known (DE-Z "Rubbish and Waste", 6/84, pp. 169-175) to collect plastics, in particular PVC plastics, separately from household waste and to burn them in an incineration plant. In addition to household waste, plastics also fall as residual products in industry, e.g. B. in window production and the like, building renovation or the like. When burning waste consisting essentially of plastic in an incinerator with grate fire, there is a risk that because of the low melting point of the plastic waste, for. B. in the temperature range of 70 - 200 ° C, molten plastic falls through the grate in the wind boxes and is therefore removed from the combustion.
Plastics often contain aggregates. Possible additives are: stabilizers in the form of inorganic heavy metal salts, metal soaps, in particular Ba, Cd, Pb, Zn, Ca and others organometallic compounds. PVC can also be adjusted against UV light by adding UV absorbers. Inorganic and organic pigments are added to color plastic products. Plasticizers may also be required. In addition to the additives mentioned above, plastic mixtures can also contain other additives, such as blowing agents, coupling agents, fillers, lubricants, antistatic agents, fungicides and the like; In terms of quantity, the fillers are of particular importance since they can contain up to 50% by weight in the plastic, in particular in PVC.
When burning PVC plastic waste, it must also be taken into account that this plastic waste consists to a large extent of chlorine.
It is the object of the present invention to provide a method of the type mentioned, in which essentially complete burnout is guaranteed and at the same time additives are safely incorporated into the combustion residues.
This object is achieved in that a rotary tube furnace is used as the furnace and when a plastic containing at least one additive, in particular PVC, is burned, such a fine solid additive is added which, together with the additive, leads to an eluent-resistant combustion residue.
The combustion in the rotary kiln and the addition of the finely divided solid additive influences the pyrolysis phase when the plastic is burned (melting of the plastic, escape and partial burnout of volatile components and coking) so that the coke that forms does not bake the rotary kiln loose structure burns out as quickly as possible. This is essentially attributed to the fact that the plastic settles on the finely divided additive after it has melted, and thus a significantly larger surface area is available for the further stages of the pyrolysis phase. In other words, a coke structure forms, which leads to an essentially complete burnout. It is preferred that such an additive is used that even at the end of the combustion the melting temperature of the at least one component is not reached. The temperature at the end of the rotary kiln can e.g. B. are in the range of 1100 - 1300 ° C. In the description and the claims, the “melting temperature of the plastic” is also understood to mean a temperature window, since a mixture of different plastics cannot be assumed to have a uniform melting temperature of the plastic components. The window can extend between 70 and 200 ° C, more preferably between 80 and 150 ° C.
The combustion in a rotary kiln ensures a sufficient dwell time for the essentially uniform distribution of the softened or melted plastic on the parts of the solid additive. The incineration of solid wastes, in particular special wastes, industrial waste or the like in a rotary kiln has already been proposed, but in the general incineration of plastic wastes, baking and burnout problems are likely to occur.
The finely divided solid additive is preferably one or more additives selected from the group: quartz sand, gravel, fine chippings, bauxite, alumina, oxidic ores, broken glass, granite, combustion residues, especially slag, lignite, hard coal, especially highly volatile hard coal, crushed asphalt road surfaces, Used tire chips.
In the case of some of the additives mentioned above, in addition to the additive for incorporating additives and possibly for increasing the surface area, a fuel is also introduced into the process if the calorific value of the plastic waste alone is not sufficient. In the case of fuels, an additional effect can be achieved in that volatile constituents also contribute to loosening of the coke structure and thus to better burnout by outgassing.
In a particularly preferred manner, an SiO 2 - and / or Al 2 O 3 -containing additive is used in the combustion of plastic which has an alkali and / or alkaline earth-containing filler; For this purpose, from the above-mentioned group, quartz sand, gravel, fine chippings on the one hand or bauxite, alumina on the other hand, as well as the incineration residues that may occur and are comminuted during the incineration of the plastic waste. Even with the Ingredients introduced into other additives can be partially incorporated into the eluate by the silicate and / or aluminate formation.
Furthermore, the formation of silicate and / or aluminate has the advantage that the desired recovery of a chlorine fraction is optimized in terms of quantity, since the combustion does not lead to the formation of water-soluble calcium chloride to a large extent.
It makes sense to shred the plastic waste before incineration. It also makes sense to mix the plastic waste and the solid, fine-particle additive together before introducing it into the rotary kiln. The mixture can be stabilized by adding a wetting liquid. In particular, a calcium chloride solution can be used as the wetting agent, which is formed during the cleaning of the flue gas with simultaneous recovery of hydrogen chloride as waste liquor. This process can also have a mud-like consistency. The recovery of Hydrogen chloride in PVC combustion from the flue gas is part of the prior art and need not be described in more detail here.
Possibly. a lye from the leaching treatment of the combustion residues can also be used alone or in admixture with the leachate from the flue gas treatment as a mixing aid.
The process according to the invention also offers a simple possibility of disposing of finely divided solid materials which are contaminated with organic compounds, in particular chlorinated hydrocarbons, by introducing them into the rotary kiln as finely divided additives in the sense of the invention. Contaminated soils, which are formed by contaminated sands and / or Ki.esen, are particularly addressed here.
A procedure according to the invention will now be described in more detail with reference to the attached figure.
The mixture 7 is fed via a
CaCO3 + SiO2 = CaSiO3 + CO2
CaO + SiO2 = CaSiO3.
As already mentioned above, the additives to PVC of chalk (CaCO 3 ) are of particular importance in terms of quantity. The following reactions are initiated in the rotary kiln by using SiO 2 additives:
CaCO 3 + SiO 2 = CaSiO 3 + CO 2
CaO + SiO 2 = CaSiO 3 .
CaCl2 + SiO2 + H2O = CaSiO3 + 2 HCl.
These reactions build up an eluate-resistant Ca compound and essentially prevent calcium chloride formation to a substantial extent. The following equation results for the remaining proportion of calcium chloride formation:
CaCl 2 + SiO 2 + H 2 O = CaSiO 3 + 2 HCl.
The calcium carried by the PVC is converted into an almost insoluble calcium silicate. Experiments have shown that the reaction of the SiO 2 with the calcium chloride practically completely proceeds from left to right at temperatures above 1000 ° C. The
The
The flue gas 10b withdrawn from the rotary kiln is fed to a flue
In particular when burning PVC waste, the process according to the invention has the advantage that the coke structure is loosened in a manner which promotes burnout, that at least a substantial part of the additives present in PVC is converted into eluate-resistant combustion residues and that the hydrogen chloride formed during the combustion can be recovered with a relatively high yield. It goes without saying that the heat released during combustion is used by exchanging heat with the flue gas, in particular for generating steam.
The plastic waste consists essentially of plastic, since impurities such as fittings can be present in the case of plastic windows, which are also introduced into the rotary kiln.
