Abstract

The bar is basically rectangular in cross-section with top and bottom edges (7, 8) which act as supporting surfaces for at least one panel, eg. a pane of glass (3, 4), and two sides (5, 6) with lengthwise grooves (16-19) designed to remove water. The distance from the bottom of the grooves to the adjacent thrust surface on one side of the bar is greater than the corresponding distance on the other, giving an asymmetry about a lengthwise plane parallel to the two supporting surfaces and a symmetry about a plane perpendicular to those surfaces. Each of the supporting surfaces is divided into two sections by a central lengthwise channel (9, 10) which is able to receive and cooperate with the panel fixings (11-13). The bar can be made from metal tubing subjected to folding and plastic deformation, or from two folded strips joined together by welding. <IMAGE>

The present invention relates to an elongated metal profile, intended for constitute a supporting structure for panels, such as windows.

More particularly, the profiles of the invention are made from metal extruded, or from sheet metal folded and / or welded, to produce profiles longiforms of the type in particular comprising at least one bearing surface suitable for directly or indirectly receiving one or more panels in glass or whatever.

We already know, including CA-A-1 208 872, profiles of this type, general quadrangular shape, with two sides, respectively upper and lower, each capable of forming a bearing surface for the at least one panel, two parallel lateral sides and at least one groove longitudinal provided on each lateral flank, in the respective vicinity of each support surface. Each support surface is separated into two parts by an obviously suitable for receiving means for securing the panels on the profile.

We also know, from US 4,745,723, a device for supporting and securing glazing panels by means of symmetrical parts.

Among the many constraints and conditions that these profiles, we particularly note the convenience and ease of installation space, low manufacturing cost, rigidity and reliability, and the ability to collect and evacuate the water resulting from any leaks at the junction between the panels and profiles.

Known profiles are generally able to meet the majority, if not almost all of the constraints.

However, this is only achieved at the cost of a certain compromise, since these constraints and conditions are contradictory.

So, for example, the ability to collect and discharging runoff involves a form of relatively complex achievement, especially in terms of the junction of two perpendicular profiles. Shapes respective profiles, in particular grooves forming gutter provided on the profiles, must be adapted to allow the flow of water from a profile in the perpendicular profile.

Known profiles do not give entirely satisfaction in this regard and are likely to improvement.

The object of the present invention is to provide a metal profile of the type mentioned above, and allowing a flow of runoff water from a profile in another perpendicular profile, in easy installation conditions and at a cost of reduced manufacturing.

To this end, according to the invention, the metal profile elongated, generally quadrangular in shape, of the type comprising two sides respectively upper and lower, each capable of forming a bearing surface for at least one panel (such as glass), two sides parallel sides, and at least two grooves longitudinal provided on the lateral flanks respective proximity of each bearing surface, each groove being shaped so as to achieve a water drain gutter, is characterized in that the distance between the bottom of one of the grooves and the nearest bearing surface, is larger than the corresponding distance and separating the bottom from the other groove of the other bearing surface, in accordance with the claim 1.

It follows that the profile of the invention has a asymmetry with respect to a parallel longitudinal plane to the bearing surfaces.

A first profile being installed, a second profile perpendicular to it will be arranged so that the groove forming corresponding gutter has a bottom located above the bottom of the groove of the first profile, so that water can flow from the second profile into the first.

Thus, one and the same profile, by simple turning, can be used to make an arrangement of two perpendicular profiles.

This results in a reduced manufacturing cost and a simplification of installation and design appreciable.

Alternatively, the bearing surface is separated into two parts by a recess capable of receiving means for joining the panels to the profile.

Advantageously, the profile has an axis of symmetry along a longitudinal plane transverse to the surfaces more specifically, the profile has two grooves arranged near a first surface support and two grooves arranged close to each other bearing surface, each set of two grooves being arranged on the respective lateral planes.

The profile can be made in one piece by deformation and bending of a metal tube, or by bending and plastic deformation of two metal strips and joined edge to edge, for example by welding, form the profile.

  • la figure 1 est une vue en coupe transversale d'un profilé associé à deux panneaux et profilé perpendiculaire ;
The invention will be clearly understood in the light of the description which follows, relating to an illustrative but nonlimiting example of the invention, with reference to the appended drawings in which:
  • Figure 1 is a cross-sectional view of a profile associated with two panels and perpendicular profile;
  • Figure 2 is a cross-sectional view of the profile of the invention; and
  • Figure 3 is a partial perspective view of an arrangement of two perpendicular sections according to the invention.

The first profile 1 is shown in cross section and consists of a tubular element, shaped general quadrangular, and preferably section rectangular. Profiles 1 and 2 are made from bent and plastically deformed metal tubes, or folded or deformed metal sheets or bands elastically and welded edge to edge, or by any other method known per se.

For convenience, we have referenced the direction X as the horizontal and the Y direction as the vertical.

With reference to profile 1 shown in section on the FIG. 1, this comprises two lateral flanks 5 and 6, vertical direction, and two sides respectively upper 7 and lower 8, both horizontal and plans. The upper flanks 7 and 8 are separated in two parts 7A and 7B respectively by a shaped recess of longitudinal groove, reference 9 for the part upper and 10 for the lower part. On the bearing surfaces 7A and 7B are shown in bearing the panels 3 and 4. The recess or central groove 9 is able to cooperate with means of securing panels on the profile formed in the representation of Figure 1, by a screw 11, a counter plate 12 bearing on the face of the panels opposite the profile, and a nut 13 cooperating with the screw 11, the nut being housed in the central recess or groove 9. On the part bottom of profile 8, a plate or panel is provided covering and bearing the reference 14, in all material known per se.

Joints of suitable material 15 and 16 are provided between the bearing surfaces 7A, 7B on the one hand, and the panels 3 and 4, as well as between the counter plate 12 and panels 3 and 4 on the other hand.

The profile has longitudinal grooves forming gutter, four in number and bearing the references 16 to 19. These grooves are intended to form gutters able to receive runoff water from possible leaks at the seals 15, in particular between the panels and the profile.

Les rainures 16 et 17 sont prévues sur chacun des flancs respectifs 5 et 6, à proximité des surfaces d'appui respectives 8A et 8B.The grooves / gutters 16 to 19 are generally in the form of V with an oblique axis relative to the bearing surfaces 7 and 8. The profile thus has two upper grooves 18 and 19 provided respectively on the lateral flanks 5 and 6 and near the bearing surfaces 7B and 7B respectively 7A. The grooves 16 and 17 are provided on each of the respective flanks 5 and 6, close to the surfaces respective support 8A and 8B.

More specifically, the grooves / gutters are such that the V which they form comprises a branch of which the end constitutes the end or the edge of the corresponding bearing surface. The other branch of V has its end ending at the lateral flank corresponding. The junction between the ends of the branches of the V and the supporting branches on the one hand and the sides on the other hand are rounded.

The second profile 2, perpendicular to the first profile 1, is fixed and secured thereto in a manner known in self and not shown. The second profile 2 perpendicular is arranged so that its surfaces upper 20 and lower 21 respectively are at the same level as the bearing surfaces 7 and 8 respectively of the first profile 1. For reasons of clarity, the joints between the bearing surface upper 20 and panel 3 have not been shown.

The respective arrangement of the perpendicular profiles 1 and 2 is such that the grooves / gutters of the second profile 2 (of which only the upper gutter 22 is shown) pour into the gutter 19 first profile 1.

We find in this figure the same references for items similar or identical to those of Figure 1. The profile in the form of shown achievement is made from two metal sheets or strips 23-24 folded and deformed plastically and welded edge to edge by a line of weld 25-26 at the bottom of the recess / groove 9 and 10 respectively.

The profile of the invention is in particular shaped so as to present an asymmetry with respect to an axis transverse I-I, while it presents a symmetry by relative to a longitudinal axis II-II.

More specifically, the grooves / gutters are different configurations for grooves 18 and 19 to proximity of the upper bearing surfaces 7A and 7B, by compared to the lower grooves 16 and 17 close to the lower support surfaces 8A and 8B. So, for grooves / gutters 16 and 19 arranged on the same side lateral 5, are shaped so that the distance separating the bottom of the groove / gutter and the plane of the corresponding support surface is different for each gutter. The distance x between the bottom of the gutter 16 and the plane 8A is less than the distance X between the bottom of the gutter 19 and the bearing surface 7A.

We understand that one and the same profile can be can be used to make an arrangement of profiles perpendicular, as shown in Figure 3, of so that one's gutters can spill in the corresponding gutters on the other.

We find in Figure 3 the same references for identical or similar elements. We defined a longitudinal Z direction perpendicular to the plane formed by the transverse X and Y orthogonal directions vertical. The first section 1 is in direction Z, while the second perpendicular profile 2 is direction X. For reasons of clarity, the glass or the like were not shown on the Figure 3, as well as the means of fixing these last on the profile, and the seals.

The second panel 2 has bearing surfaces 27A and 27B, arranged in the same plane X, Z as the surfaces support 7A and 7B of profile 1. The second profile 2 has lateral flanks 28 and 29 and a upper groove / recess 30. For reasons of convenience, only the upper part of profiles 1 and 2 is represented.

The first profile 1 is arranged so that the upper grooves / gutters 18 and 19 are the most deep, while the profile 2 is arranged so that its upper gutters 30 and 31 are the least deep. So runoff water from leaks possible at the joints between the panels glass supported by the structure formed by the profiles 1 and 2, flowing into the gutters 30 and 31 of the second panel 2, pours (arrow f) into the gutters 18 of the first section 1 arranged perpendicularly. Indeed, the bottom of the gutters shallower 30 and 31 of the second profile, are arranged at a higher level (in the direction vertical Y, relative to the lower edges 18A, 19A, deepest gutters of the profile corresponding.

  • hauteur (direction Y) : 130 millimètres;
  • largeur (direction X) : 60 millimètres;
  • diamètre de l'évidement/rainure (9,10) : 21 millimètres;
  • distance X de rainure peu provonde : 20 millimètres;
  • distance X de rainure profonde : 25 millimètres.
As an example, the dimensions of the profile can be as follows, seen in cross section:
  • height (direction Y): 130 millimeters;
  • width (direction X): 60 millimeters;
  • diameter of the recess / groove (9.10): 21 millimeters;
  • little proving groove distance X: 20 millimeters;
  • distance X from deep groove: 25 millimeters.
