Description

The invention relates to a roll stand, in particular multi-roll roll stand, with mudguards, which are arranged in pairs opposite one another above and below the strip processed in the roll stand in the entry and exit area of the roll stand and approximately up to the respective supported by support rollers and / or rollers Work rolls of the roll stand extend into the latter, the lower protective plates in each case being pivotably connected to the lower stand part about an axis arranged parallel to the work rolls.

The mudguards used in the roll stands serve to protect the support rolls against damage, which can be caused, for example, by tearing of the strip processed in the roll stand if the strip ends suddenly swing in the direction of the rolls. In addition, the lower mudguard also serves as an aid for threading a new strip to be machined or for threading out a finished strip, the mudguards simultaneously ensuring that the work rolls of the roll stand are not damaged. In addition, the mudguards in the known roll stand have channels and nozzles via which coolant is applied to the sheets processed in the roll stand.

The above requirements make it necessary for the fenders to come as close as possible to the work rolls both during threading and unthreading and in the working position of the roll stand. This in turn makes it necessary to make the position of the mudguards relative to the work rolls variable depending on their size. For this purpose, at a multi-roll mill stand known from practice (see EP-A 0513613), the respective upper fenders are horizontally displaceable, so that they can be pushed into the inlet or outlet area of the mill stand depending on the size of the work rolls.

The advantage of this design of the mudguards is that they can safely intercept the vertically deflecting band ends in the event of a band break due to their large-area support. A disadvantage of the known device, however, is that the upper fenders have an unequal distance from the belt when using differently sized work rolls, with large work rolls the distance of the upper fenders to the belt being so great that their protective effect is reduced. Another disadvantage of the known roll stand is that it requires complex lifting means to raise the upper work roll, which is not supported in the rolling operation, when the upper part of the stand is being opened, for example for changing the strip to be processed.

The object of the invention is to improve the protective effect of the fenders used in a roll stand of the type mentioned and at the same time to reduce the outlay for the lifting means required for lifting the work roll.

This object is achieved in that the respective upper fenders are pivotally connected to the upper part of the scaffold about an axis which is also arranged parallel to the work rolls, and each have support means on their tip assigned to the work rolls, which support the upper work roll when the upper fenders are pivoted in the direction of the upper part of the frame take.

The pivotability of the respective upper fender makes it possible in the roll stand according to the invention to align the respective lower and upper fenders in their pivoting angle so that they have the same distance from the strip at their ends assigned to the work rolls. This setting of the distance between the fenders is independent of the size of the work rolls used in the roll stand.

At the same time, the pivotability of the upper mudguards does not limit the effectiveness of the mudguards, since, for example, in the case of the end of the belt that breaks open, the affected mudguard is brought into contact with the rollers arranged above it and is additionally supported in this way. In a roll stand designed according to the invention, a high degree of operational safety is always guaranteed regardless of the size of the work rolls used in it.

Since the mudguards are also equipped with support means at their tips assigned to the work rolls, it is possible to use the drives required for pivoting the mudguards at the same time to lift the work roll when the roll stand is open. Thus, in the roll stand according to the invention, the additional lifting means for lifting the work roll required in the prior art can be dispensed with.

The versatility of the device according to the invention can be further increased in that the mudguards are each divided into an inner part assigned to the work rolls and an outer part, the inner part being pivotable and the outer part being fixed to the respective upper or lower part of the frame connected is. This configuration makes it possible to increase the swivel range and thus the adaptability of the essential parts of the mudguards without reducing operational reliability.

As with the known roll stand discussed at the outset, the mudguards in the case of the invention can also be designed as cooling plates which have channels and outlet nozzles for a cooling medium to be applied to the strip.

Since the rollers and rollers arranged above the upper mudguards support these mudguards in the event of a malfunction due to a tape tear, it makes sense for the mudguards in question to have cushion pieces on their sides assigned to the supporting rollers and rollers in the area of the rollers or rollers which are directly adjacent to them in such a case, damage to the rollers or rollers is excluded. These upholstery pieces can be designed as bronze inlays.

Similarly, the support means for the upper work roll can be designed as bronze pieces. Injury to the surface of the work rolls coming into contact with the belt by the support means can also be excluded by arranging the support means for the upper work roll on the outer lateral edge of the mudguards.

In order to be able to utilize the supporting effect of the rollers or rollers arranged underneath them, the lower pivotable fenders should rest on the stops which are resiliently resilient in the event of an overload in the working position of the roll stand. In this case, the lower mudguards, like the corresponding upper mudguards, should be provided with cushion inserts that prevent damage to the support rollers in question in the event of a malfunction.

A constant distance between the tips of the mudguards associated with the work rolls and the strip can be achieved in a simple manner in that the respective upper mudguard is in the working position of the roll stand a stop of the associated lower mudguard or the lower part of the scaffold.

In the multi-roll mill stand shown in the figures, an upper work roll 1 is supported by intermediate rolls 2,2a, 3,3a, 4 and support rolls 5,5a, 6,6a. The intermediate rolls 2,2a, 3,3a, 4 and the support rolls 5,5a, 6,6a are mounted in an upper part 7 of the stand and are adjustable in height together with the latter. Accordingly, a lower work roll 8 is supported via intermediate rolls 9, 9a, 10, 11, 11a and backup rolls 12, 12a, 13, 13a. The intermediate rolls 9, 9a, 10, 11, 11a and the support rolls 12, 12a, 13, 13a are supported in a lower frame part 14. The height of the intermediate rolls 9, 9a, 10, 11, 11a and the support rolls 12, 12a, 13, 13a can be adjusted within the lower frame part 14 in order to be able to use pairs of work rolls 1.8 of different diameters in the roll stand. In this way it is ensured that the strip B to be processed is always guided in a straight line through the roll stand regardless of the diameter of the work rolls 1.8.

This is made clear by a comparison of FIGS. 1 and 3, work rolls 1.8 with a large diameter being used in the roll stand according to FIG. 1 and work rolls 1.8 with a small diameter being used in the roll stand according to FIG.

Arranged in the inlet and outlet area E, A of the roll stand is an upper protective plate 15 designed as a cooling plate, which is divided into an immovable outer part 15 'and a second part 15' 'which can be pivoted by means of hydraulic drives (not shown). The first part 15 'of the fender 15 is firmly attached to the upper frame part 7. At its end assigned to the support roller 5, a pivot joint 16 is formed for the pivotable part 15 ″ of the upper fender. Both parts 15 ', 15' 'of the mudguard 15 have channels 17 and nozzles 18, via which a cooling medium can be applied to the strip B processed in the roll stand.

On both sides on the outer sides in the area of the tip of the pivotable mudguard part 15 '' assigned to the upper work roll 1, support means 19 made of bronze are fastened, via which the work roll 1 is held in the raised position in the open position of the roll stand shown in FIG. 1 . In addition, cushion pieces 20, which are also made of bronze, are inserted opposite the support roller 5 or intermediate roller 3 in the side of the pivotable mudguard part 15 ″ assigned to the support rollers.

Opposite to the upper fender 15, a lower fender 21, which is likewise designed as a cooling plate, is arranged in the inlet and outlet region E, A of the rolling stand, said lower fender 21 comprising a first part 21 'which is fixedly connected to the lower part 14 of the stand and a part which is also not shown Hydraulic drive pivotable second part 21 '' is divided. The pivot axis 22 for the inner part 21 "of lower fender 21 is in turn formed on the front edge of the first part 21 ′ assigned to the support roller 12.

In the closed state of the roll stand shown in FIG. 2, the pivotable part 21 ″ of the lower mudguard 21 rests on a stop of the stand lower part 14 which is resiliently resilient in the event of overload, so that its distance from the strip B processed in the roll stand is fixed . At the same time, the pivotable part 15 ″ of the mudguard 15 rests on a stop, also not shown, formed on the pivotable part 21 ″ of the lower mudguard 21 or on the lower frame part 14. In this way, its distance from belt B is also fixed during processing. There is no contact between any of the rolls of the roll stand and the respective pivotable part 15 ″, 21 ″ of the mudguards 15, 21.

After the end of the roll, the work rolls 1, 2 are relieved of pressure. The pivotable part 15 ″ of the upper fender is then pivoted up until the support means 19 attached to it abut the upper work roll 1. The same happens with the upper mudguard, not shown, in the outlet area of the roll stand. Then the upper frame part 7 is raised, the work roll 1 now resting on the support means 19 of the mudguard 15 ″ being carried along. Subsequently, the pivotable part 21 '' of the lower fender 21 assigned to the inlet area E is pivoted upwards (position indicated by dashed lines in FIG. 3), so that the lower working shaft 2 is not damaged when the finished strip is threaded out and the new strip to be processed is threaded in becomes.

After threading the new band B to be machined, the movable part 21 '' of the lower mudguard 21 is pivoted down until it is on the lower stop of the Scaffold lower part 14 rests. By lowering the upper frame part 7, the roll gap which was previously open between the work rolls 1, 2 is then closed. The pivotable part 15 ″ of the upper fender 15 bears against the stop of the lower fender 21 or the lower frame part 14 assigned to it, so that the upper work roll 1 can again be freely rotated.
