In a stick (1) for dispensing a spreadable compound, especially an adhesive or deodorant, consisting of a cylindrical sleeve (2) with a closed base (4) in which, by means of a snap fastening (7), is inserted a stick (3) which can be rotated about its longitudinal axis, which takes the form of a threaded rod (9) projecting over virtually the entire length of the longitudinal axis (5) of the sleeve on one side and a manually operable knurled nut (10) outside the sleeve (2) on the other side of the snap fastening (7), and a cup-like piston (11) which is secured against rotation in the sleeve (2) with a cylindrical jacket component (12) having longitudinal grooves (12) or shoulders in its surface and can be moved along the longitudinal axis (5) of the sleeve via the threaded rod (9) engaging in a threaded through hole (16) in the piston (11), and a cap which can be pushed on the upper edge of the sleeve, a system is to be provided which makes it possible to remove the spreadable compound attached to the piston as well. This is achieved in that the piston (11) is designed in two parts and consists of the cylindrical jacket component (12) and a base plate (13) recessed thereinto, inserted to be secured against rotation and axial movement in relation to the jacket component (12) and provided, with the threaded through hole, in that there is a stop (26) on the inside of the upper sleeve edge preventing the jacket component (12) from emerging, and in that when the jacket component (12) encounters the stop (26) and on further turning of the knurled nut (10) in the piston projection direction, the axial movement security system in the jacket component (12) for the base plate (13) can be overcome and the base plate (13) can be guided in the jacket component (12) at least as far as the region of the upper face plane of the jacket component (12).

Description

"Klebe- oder Deostift mit restentleerbarem Kolben""Glue or deodorant stick with a completely empty piston"
The invention relates to a pen for dispensing a spreadable mass, in particular an adhesive or deodorant pen, consisting of a cylindrical sleeve with a closed bottom, into which a pin rotatably rotatable about its longitudinal axis is inserted by means of a snap connection and which covers almost the entire length The longitudinal axis of the sleeve protrudes beyond the one side of the snap connection as a threaded spindle and beyond the other side of the snap connection outside the sleeve as a hand-operated knurled nut, and a cup-like piston which has a jacket element in webs with a cylindrical, longitudinal groove or longitudinal webs in its outer surface or grooves of the inner wall of the sleeve guided against rotation in the sleeve secured against the threaded spindle engaging in a continuous threaded bore of the piston along the longitudinal axis of the sleeve, and a cover cap which can be pushed over the upper edge of the sleeve.
Known glue and deodorant sticks have a cup-shaped piston. The cup-like design of the piston is necessary in order to receive and anchor portions of the spreadable mass therein and thus to be able to carry out both advancing and retracting the spreadable mass with the piston. In known pens, the cup-shaped piston takes up a proportion of up to 10% of the spreadable mass sold with the pen. However, the spreadable mass located in the piston is not available to the user, since it cannot be removed from the piston by painting a surface. This portion is therefore disposed of together with the pencil as an unused residual product.
A generic pen and having the above disadvantages is known from DE-U-6934901.
The object of the invention is to provide a pen which also enables the dispensing of the spreadable mass absorbed by the piston. In the case of a pin of the type mentioned at the outset, this object is achieved according to the invention in that the piston is constructed in two parts and is recessed from the cylindrical jacket element and recessed therein and secured against relative rotation and axial displacement with respect to the jacket element and has the continuous threaded bore Bottom plate element consists of a stop element preventing the emergence of the jacket element from being formed on the inside of the sleeve and that when the jacket element strikes the stop element and further actuation of the knurled nut in the direction of the piston advance, the axial displacement safety device in the jacket element can be overcome for the base plate element and the bottom plate element is guided in the jacket element at least can be shifted into the area of the upper end edge plane of the casing element.
The invention creates a pen whose filling volume is equal to the removal volume, ie the entire spreadable mass filled into the pen is available for consumption by actuating the knurled nut. Furthermore, the cup-shaped design of the piston is still ensured, so that the spreadable mass is securely anchored in the piston until the point of almost complete consumption. The properties of the pen remain intact until it is completely emptied. The possibility of being able to pull the spreadable mass back into the pen also remains unchanged. In addition, the invention now ensures that the piston is almost completely emptied. The fact that the base plate element is secured in the jacket element of the two-part piston against rotation and axial displacement ensures that these two elements are axially displaced in a constant relative position to one another until the upper sleeve end edge is reached. Only when the casing element comes into abutment against the abutment element formed on the upper inner edge of the sleeve, when the knurled nut is actuated further in the direction of piston advance, does the base plate element overcome its securing against axial displacement and presses the spreadable mass located in the casing element out of it. The mass is then available for consumption in the spreading plane of the pen. In an embodiment, the invention provides that the jacket element has a first, upper cylinder area which, with its outer surface having the longitudinal grooves or longitudinal webs of the rotation lock of the piston, bears against the inner wall of the sleeve and on its inner wall with at least one circumferential, the axial displacement protection of the recessed Bead plate-forming bead or correspondingly arranged segment cam is provided, and that the jacket element has a second, lower cylinder region with a smaller diameter, which is provided on its inner wall with longitudinal webs or longitudinal grooves, which form the outside plate to prevent rotation of the base plate element cooperate on a hollow cylindrical region of the base plate element formed longitudinal grooves or longitudinal webs. This advantageous embodiment ensures that the jacket element has on its outside the elements for the formation of the anti-rotation device of the entire piston and on its inner surface has the elements necessary for forming the rotation and axial displacement device between the jacket element and the base plate element. It is advantageous here if the longitudinal webs or longitudinal grooves are formed in the lower cylinder area, which is not filled with a spreadable mass, in order to form the anti-rotation lock. The axial displacement lock designed in the form of at least one circumferential bead or correspondingly arranged segment cams in the upper cylinder area filled with a spreadable mass is then also available as an anchoring element for the spreadable mass. Longitudinal webs or longitudinal grooves are not suitable as an anchoring element when the spreadable mass is moved axially.
The base plate element is expediently shaped like a stem and fitted into the jacket element, for which purpose the invention provides in a further embodiment that the base plate element consists of an annular disc which is displaceably arranged in the first cylinder area of the jacket element and which is integrally formed along the central axis and embedded in the second cylinder area of the jacket element and the continuous threaded bore has a hollow cylinder. It is advantageous according to a further embodiment of the invention that in the initial state the ring disk rests on the inside on a transition wall area between the upper and lower cylinder area of the casing element and is covered on its upper side by the at least one bead or the correspondingly arranged segment cams of the axial displacement lock. The axial displacement lock can be formed in a technically simple manner by means of an annular disk held underneath a bead or by segment cams.
In an expedient embodiment of the invention it is provided for the formation of the stop element that the stop element is arranged below the upper sleeve edge and is designed as a circumferential bead or correspondingly arranged segment cams, it then being expedient and advantageous for the convenient delivery of the spreadable mass that the the upper end edge plane of the casing element protrudes into the upper end edge plane of the sleeve when it abuts the stop element, as is also provided by the invention.
In order to ensure when pouring the spreadable mass into the pin that no mass gets under the pistons into the area between the underside of the piston and the sleeve bottom, the invention provides in a further development that the bottom-side exit area of the threaded bore in the base plate element is flared and conical the shaft of the threaded spindle is designed to be adapted.

Fig. 1 shows the pin labeled 1 in its filling and starting position. In this position, the pin 1 is filled with a spreadable mass, for example an adhesive or deodorant. The spreadable mass is not shown in FIGS. 1-3. The pin 1 consists of a cylindrical sleeve 2 with a bottom 4 closed except for a passage opening for the rotatable pin 3. The pin 3, which is rotatable about the sleeve longitudinal axis 5, is inserted into the bottom 4 or the opening of the bottom 4 and by means of a attached to its shaft 6 trained and cooperating with the opening in the bottom 4 snap connection 7. The snap connection 7 consists of a cylindrical wall section 7a of the shaft 6 with a projecting collar 7b adjoining the bottom and a protruding snap bead 7c at the opposite end. The bottom 4 is gripped between the collar 7b and the snap bead 7c. In the example shown here, a washer 8 is also arranged in this area. The pin 3 projects over approximately the entire longitudinal axis 5 of the sleeve beyond the one side of the snap connection 7 as a threaded spindle 9 into the sleeve 2 and is formed on the other side of the snap connection 7 outside the sleeve 2 as a manually operable knurled nut 10. The longitudinal axis of the pin 3 coincides with the longitudinal axis 5 of the sleeve. The cup-shaped piston 11 is arranged inside the sleeve 2. The piston 11 is formed in two parts and consists of a cylindrical jacket element 12 and a recessed base plate element 13. The jacket element 12 has longitudinal grooves 14 in its outer surface, into which on the inner wall of the sleeve Intervene in the longitudinal axis direction integrally formed longitudinal webs 15 and thus secure the piston 11 against rotation in the sleeve 2. The threaded spindle 9 engages in a continuous threaded bore 16 of the piston 11. The piston 11 can be displaced in the sleeve 2 along the longitudinal axis 5 of the sleeve by means of the threaded spindle 9. A cover cap (not shown) can be pushed over the upper sleeve edge 17.
The jacket element 12 has a first, upper cylinder region 12a and a second, lower cylinder region 12b with a smaller diameter. The upper cylinder region 12a has on its outer surface the longitudinal grooves 14 which cooperate with the longitudinal webs 15 of the sleeve 2 and which form the rotation lock of the piston 11. The outer surface of the upper cylinder region 12a lies against the inner wall of the sleeve. On the inside of the upper cylinder area 12a, in the vicinity of the transition to the lower cylinder area 12b, an annular circumferential bead 18 is formed which is oriented at right angles to the longitudinal axis 5 of the sleeve. Above the circumferential bead 18, grooves 19, which are aligned and spaced apart from one another, are formed in the inner wall surface of the upper cylinder region 12a in a parallel manner. While the bead 18 is part of the axial displacement lock for the base plate element 13, the grooves 19 serve to anchor the spreadable mass filled in the piston 12 there. The second, lower cylinder region 12b of the jacket element 12 is provided on its inner wall surface with longitudinal webs 20 which extend longitudinally to the longitudinal axis 5 of the sleeve and which are partially evident from FIG. 3. These longitudinal webs 20 cooperate with longitudinal grooves 21, which are formed in the outer surface of a hollow cylinder 22 of the base plate element 13 and, with these, form the rotation lock of the base plate element 13 against relative rotational displacement with respect to the casing element 12.
The base plate element 13 consists of an annular disk 23 which can be displaced in the first cylinder region 12a of the jacket element. The outer diameter of the annular disk 23 corresponds to the inner diameter of the upper cylinder region 12a. The hollow cylinder 22 is formed on the annular disk 23 along the central disk axis, which coincides with the longitudinal axis 5 of the sleeve. Central to the axis through the hollow cylinder 22 and the annular disk 23 guides the threaded bore 16. The outer surface of the hollow cylinder 22 bears against the inner wall surface of the lower cylinder region 12b and, with its longitudinal grooves 21, engages around the longitudinal webs 20 formed there. The surface of the annular disc 23 facing the sleeve bottom 4 lies between a transition wall region 24 the upper and lower cylinder areas 12a, 12b of the casing element 12, while their opposite surface in the circumferential wall area is gripped by the bead 18. In this way, the annular disk 23 is held in a clamping manner between the transition wall region 24 and the bead 18. This represents the axial displacement protection against axial relative displacement of the base plate element 13 and the casing element 12. Because of this axial displacement protection and the above-described rotation displacement protection between the base plate element 13 and the casing element 12 formed by the longitudinal webs 20 and the longitudinal grooves 21, and also because of the Longitudinal webs 15 and the longitudinal grooves 14 against rotation formed between the casing element 12 and the sleeve 2, the piston 11 can be moved into the position shown in FIG. 2 by rotating the knurled nut 10 through the spindle 9. In the position shown in FIG. 2, the jacket element 12 abuts with an edge 25 formed on the outside on the upper cylinder region 12a against a stop element 26 protruding from the inner wall surface of the sleeve in the upper region of the sleeve. In the exemplary embodiment, the stop element 25 is designed as an annular circumferential bead which is aligned at right angles to the longitudinal axis 5 of the sleeve. The stop element 26 is arranged at a short distance below the upper edge of the sleeve. Fittingly, the edge 25 of the casing element 12 is arranged at such a distance from the upper end edge of the casing element 12 that the upper end edge plane of the casing element 12 protrudes into the upper end edge plane of the sleeve 2 when it stops against the stop element 26. When the knurled nut 10 is actuated further in the direction of advance of the piston 11 after the stop element 12 has abutted against the abutment element 26, the base plate element 13 or the annular disc 23 overcomes on the base plate element due to the threaded spindle 9 and the threaded bore 16 13 transmitted force, the axial displacement lock formed by the bead 18 and pushes itself into the interior space enclosed by the upper cylinder region 12a of the jacket element 12. The hollow cylinder 22 and the threaded spindle 9 are of such a length that the upper side the washer 23 can be moved at least into the upper end edge plane of the sleeve 2. In this way, spreadable mass filled into the piston 11 or the upper cylinder region 12a of the casing element 12 can be almost completely pressed out of the piston 11 and thus made available for consumption.
The shaft 6 of the threaded spindle 9 is provided above the snap connection 7, starting from the snap bead 7c, with a conically reducing outer diameter area. Analogously to this, the bottom-side output region 27 of the threaded bore 16 in the base plate element 13 is flared, so that in the filling or initial position of the piston 11 shown in FIG. 1, the base plate element 13 with this conical region 27 covers the entire surface of the shaft 6 rests and thereby seals the threaded bore 16 to the sleeve bottom 4 against passage of the filled in spreadable mass.
