Definitions
- the flexible sealing strip according to the present invention offers a remedy for this problem in that it both prevents the direct penetration of seepage water into the tunnel interior in the region of the joints and also enables the seepage water to drain into the longitudinal channels running to the side of the tunnel floor. This is achieved by gluing a profile strip made of flexible sealing material shaped along the joint to the inner wall of two adjacent elements of the tunnel lining, so that the channel preformed in the profile runs from one lateral drainage channel to the other along the entire length of the joint.
- the leachate can run freely in the cavity of the profile on both sides to the lowest point of the joint and is completely absorbed by the side drainage channels.
- the flexible profile strip consists of two flat side parts (1) lying in one plane, which between them include a hollow channel (3, 5) which is arranged below this plane and is open on one side upwards.
- the hollow channel normally has the shape of a cylindrical one open at the top Pipe, the walls of which are seamlessly connected to one of the two side parts in the area of the opening. In other embodiments, however, it can also have a polygonal cross section, e.g. be rectangular.
- the material for the flexible sealing strip is primarily a dimensionally stable material of sufficient flexibility, which, under the conditions prevailing in tunnel construction, maintains its impermeability to water over longer periods of time and also has sufficient strength with respect to any displacements of the components.
- Suitable is e.g. Rubber in a quality protected against oxidation and aging.
- the rubber can optionally also be reinforced with fiber or fabric inserts.
- water-resistant flexible plastics such as, for example, plasticized polvinyl chloride
- the two flat side parts are provided on their upper side facing away from the hollow channel for the adhesive connection with the elements of the tunnel lining.
- the surface provided for the adhesive connection is advantageously provided with ribs, which bring about better adhesion to the surface of the structure.
- Contact adhesive is advantageously used as the adhesive. These consist of a solution of natural or synthetic rubber in a volatile organic solvent. The contact adhesive is applied to the dry surfaces on both sides; After the solvent has evaporated, the parts to be glued are put together and then stick immediately.
- the side parts and the tubular middle part of the flexible profile strip consist of one piece and are therefore seamlessly connected to each other.
- the essentially rectangular transition (4) between the side and middle parts is somewhat reduced in thickness and thereby facilitates the change in the angle between the middle and side parts resulting from the narrowing and widening of the joint.

Abstract
Description
It is common to provide rail and road tunnels with a reinforced concrete lining. In order for this tubular lining to give way freely to any movements of the mountain and to compensate for the changes in length caused by temperature fluctuations and movements in the mountain, it is always divided into individual sections. The sections with an average length of 15 m are either created on site using customary methods or are also inserted as prefabricated elements in the prepared tunnel profile. A dilation joint is left open between the individual lining elements, the width of which can vary between 1 and 15 mm, depending on the prevailing temperature.
While the interior of the tunnel in the area of the concrete lining is completely protected from the ingress of leachate, an open area remains in the area of the joints between the liner elements, where leachate that is always present in the mountain can penetrate unhindered and drips vertically downwards from the joint. This can be prevented, for example, by introducing a sealing compound into the joints. However, this type of seal has several disadvantages: For example, it is difficult or even impossible to find a sealant that can withstand the changes in joint width due to temperature fluctuations, without tearing or detaching from the material of the lining elements. In addition, a channel should remain open between the joint lining and the rock material underneath, through which the accumulating leachate can flow down along the tunnel wall.
The flexible sealing strip according to the present invention offers a remedy for this problem in that it both prevents the direct penetration of seepage water into the tunnel interior in the region of the joints and also enables the seepage water to drain into the longitudinal channels running to the side of the tunnel floor. This is achieved by gluing a profile strip made of flexible sealing material shaped along the joint to the inner wall of two adjacent elements of the tunnel lining, so that the channel preformed in the profile runs from one lateral drainage channel to the other along the entire length of the joint. The leachate can run freely in the cavity of the profile on both sides to the lowest point of the joint and is completely absorbed by the side drainage channels.
According to
The material for the flexible sealing strip is primarily a dimensionally stable material of sufficient flexibility, which, under the conditions prevailing in tunnel construction, maintains its impermeability to water over longer periods of time and also has sufficient strength with respect to any displacements of the components. Suitable is e.g. Rubber in a quality protected against oxidation and aging. The rubber can optionally also be reinforced with fiber or fabric inserts.
Furthermore, water-resistant flexible plastics, such as, for example, plasticized polvinyl chloride, are also suitable. The two flat side parts are provided on their upper side facing away from the hollow channel for the adhesive connection with the elements of the tunnel lining. The surface provided for the adhesive connection is advantageously provided with ribs, which bring about better adhesion to the surface of the structure. Contact adhesive is advantageously used as the adhesive. These consist of a solution of natural or synthetic rubber in a volatile organic solvent. The contact adhesive is applied to the dry surfaces on both sides; After the solvent has evaporated, the parts to be glued are put together and then stick immediately.
The side parts and the tubular middle part of the flexible profile strip consist of one piece and are therefore seamlessly connected to each other. As can be seen from FIGS. 1 to 6, the essentially rectangular transition (4) between the side and middle parts is somewhat reduced in thickness and thereby facilitates the change in the angle between the middle and side parts resulting from the narrowing and widening of the joint.
