Description

The invention relates to a high-pressure cleaning device with a housing, with a liquid pump arranged in the housing, with a motor likewise enclosed by the housing for driving the liquid pump, with a spray gun comprising a jet pipe and an actuating handle, with a hose connecting the liquid pump with the spray gun and with connecting means for detachable attachment of the spray gun to the housing.

A high-pressure cleaning device known from US-A-4,972,994 can be operated in two ways, namely on the one hand as a stationary device, the housing with the device parts enclosed by it being stationary, e.g. B. arranged on the ground and the spray gun connected via a hose to the liquid pump is grasped by hand on its actuating handle and directed to the areas to be cleaned. On the other hand, with the omission of the hose, the jet pipe can also be connected directly to the housing and the liquid pump, the housing then being gripped by a special handle provided for this purpose and the unit consisting of the jet pipe and housing being directed at the points to be cleaned. It is disadvantageous that in a transition from one to the other mode of operation, the gun with its hose is detached from the housing and a separate jet pipe must be connected to the latter. In addition, the special handle provided on the upper side of the housing often does not allow the liquid spray jet emerging from the jet pipe to be specifically aligned with the area to be cleaned.

A high-pressure cleaning device is also known from DE-U-8,815,807, which has clamping brackets on its upper side for receiving the spray gun. These are simple bearing shells, in which projecting clamping cams ensure a secure clamping fit for the injected spraying devices. However, this is not so powerful that the device could be carried on the spray gun, so a separate handle is provided for the device.

It is an object of the invention to design a generic high-pressure cleaning device so that the high-pressure cleaning device can be carried on a spray gun in such a way that it can be transported vertically downward in any working position.

This object is achieved according to the invention in a high-pressure cleaning device of the type described at the outset in that the connecting means connect the housing to the spray gun in such a way that it can rotate freely about the longitudinal axis of the spray gun in such a way that when the unit consisting of the housing and the spray gun is handled by manual detection of the spray gun, the housing always hangs down.

The spray gun thus remains permanently connected to the housing with its hose, but the unit consisting of the housing and the gun can be grasped on the actuating handle of the gun and, in the same way as the gun alone, can be precisely aligned with the areas to be cleaned.

The high-pressure cleaning device shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 comprises a housing 1 which encloses a conventional high-pressure liquid pump 2. The pump 2 is driven by an electric motor 3. A flexible hose 4 extends from the pump 2 and is connected to a spray gun 5. The spray gun 5 in turn comprises in a conventional manner a jet pipe 6 with a spray nozzle 7 and an actuating handle 8 into which the hose 4 opens. The actuating handle 8 comprises, in a manner known per se, a (not shown) manually operated switch for switching on and off a high-pressure spray jet emerging from the nozzle 7. The gun 5 is gripped manually on the actuating handle 8 and aligned with its nozzle to the point to be cleaned. Normally, the housing 1 with the components enclosed by it is parked stationary on the ground, while the spray gun 5, which is only connected to the housing via the flexible hose 4, is aimed freely at the point to be cleaned. The radius of action is of course limited by the length of the hose 4.

As can be seen from FIGS. 1 and 2, the spray gun 5 can be detachably rigidly attached to the housing using connecting means according to the invention (still to be described) 1 can be attached. In this way, the spray gun 5 and the housing 1 form a fixed unit which can be gripped manually on the actuating handle 8 and aligned with the points to be cleaned. In this case, the operator carries the entire unit with him and is no longer limited in its radius of action by the length of the hose 4. The handling is preferably carried out in such a way that the unit with one hand, for. B. the right hand, is detected on the operating handle 8, while the other hand engages a handle 9 provided for this purpose on the jet pipe 6. Instead of the handle 9 on the jet pipe 6, a handle (not shown) projecting downwards or laterally (not shown) could also be provided rigidly on the housing 1.

The connecting means for the detachable fastening of the spray gun 5 to the housing 1 in the illustrated embodiment comprise two annular tabs 11 which are fixedly connected to the housing 1 and which are open on one side. In the tabs 11, a rotary member 12 is rotatably arranged, which has a radially extending, relatively wide slot 13. This slot 13 is aligned in Figure 2 by appropriate rotation of the rotary member so that it is closed by the tab 11 at its opening. This is the normal operating position of the rotary member 12. When the rotary member (in Figure 2) is rotated counterclockwise by 90 °, the slot 13 opens to the right so that a complementary portion of the spray gun 5 can be inserted into the slot 13, after which the spray gun 5 is rotated back together with the rotary member 12 into the position shown in Figure 2. In this way, the spray gun 5 can be fixed, but detachable with the Housing 1 are connected. To detach the spray gun 5 and the rotating members 12 of the two tabs 11 are rotated in the opposite direction, so that the spray gun can be removed from the slot 13 and the tab 11.

If the spray gun 5 and the housing 1 are connected to the unit shown in FIG. 1 in the manner described, this unit can be handled essentially like the spray gun alone, since the unit, like the spray gun 5 alone, can be handled by the operating handle 8 and optionally detected on the handle 9. The relatively heavy housing 1 with the components enclosed by it swings freely because of the rotatable connection described about the axis of the spray gun 5. The oscillating attachment of the housing 1 to the spray gun 5 ensures that the housing 1 always hangs down, so that the cooling air suction slots 10 provided on the housing 1 are always below the spray gun 5.

The above-mentioned sections of the spray gun 5 which are complementary to the reveals of the slots 3 are designed such that at the same time they prevent an axial displacement of the spray gun 5 in the tabs 11.

In another embodiment of the invention, instead of the tabs 11 fixedly arranged on the housing 1, two corresponding ring members could also be rotatably arranged directly on the spray gun 5. These rotatable ring members are in a known manner directly with the Locked housing, so that you also get a rotatable connection between spray gun 5 and housing 1 again.

In the embodiment shown, the connecting means between the spray gun 5 and the housing 1 each comprise two tabs or ring members. Basically, it is sufficient to provide only a single tab or a single ring member, which in this case can then be made axially correspondingly longer, for example in the form of a bushing.

In order to protect the electric motor 3 from the ingress of liquid, in particular splash water, 1 splash protection elements in the form of foam mats are provided between it and the housing, which are denoted in FIGS. 1 and 2 by reference numerals 14 and 15, respectively. These splash protection mats allow cooling air to enter and exit for the electric motor 3, but prevent the ingress of moisture. As a splash guard, instead of the aforementioned foam mats 14, 15 or in addition to these mats, a labyrinth-like air duct can be provided in the housing 1 in order to prevent water drops from entering live parts of the electric motor 3.

The housing 1 of the high-pressure cleaning device 1 is advantageously designed as a plastic injection-molded part, a film hinge preferably being formed at the point indicated by the arrow 16 in FIG. 2, and the housing 1 can thus be produced in one piece from two half-shells.

As can further be seen from the drawing, the unit consisting of the housing 1 and the spray gun 5 can also be connected to a carrying strap 17, which allows an operator to carry the unit hanging over the shoulder. In this case the weight of the unit is absorbed by the shoulder and the operator needs e.g. B. to grasp the operating handle 8 with only one hand in order to draw the spray jet towards the point to be cleaned. The carrying strap 17, which can be attached to the tabs 11, for example by means of eyelets, furthermore has a carrying handle 18 connecting the two parts of the carrying strap 17, which is made of the same flexible material as the carrying strap 17 and on which the mentioned unit is gripped and worn can be.

The embodiment of a high-pressure cleaning device shown in FIGS. 3 and 4 differs from that according to FIGS. 1 and 2 only in that a conventional (not visible) internal combustion engine is arranged in the housing 1 instead of the electric motor 3. Otherwise, the device according to FIGS. 3 and 4 corresponds in terms of its construction and function to the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2.

Since an internal combustion engine is less sensitive to moisture than an electric motor, the spray protection elements 14 and 15 described in connection with FIGS. 1 and 2 can be omitted in the embodiment according to FIGS. 3 and 4.

On the other hand, when using an internal combustion engine to drive the liquid pump, it is favorable to use the Housing 1 and the on it by the connecting means, for. B. the tabs 11 attached spray gun 5 provide vibration damping means that prevent the inevitable vibrations emanating from the internal combustion engine on the spray gun and thus on the hands of an operator holding this spray gun. Such vibration damping elements are known per se and therefore do not need to be described in detail here. For example, it would be sufficient to provide elastic members, for example a rubber buffer or the like, between the tabs 11 and the housing 1.
