Abstract

The invention relates to a drinks container, in particular a drinks pouch, of mono material or multi-layered composite material, which is provided with a puncturable opening for puncturing with a drinking straw. To provide a drinks container which permits easy puncturing by a drinking straw and at the same time is acceptable from aspects of environmental protection, the puncturable opening is punched through all the layers of the mono material or composite material and on the inside of the mono material or composite material there is attached around the puncturable opening a closure film which is exposed to the outside through the puncturable opening.

Description

The invention relates to a beverage container, in particular beverage bags made of monomaterial or multi-layer composite material, which is provided with a puncture opening for piercing a drinking straw.

With beverage containers of the type mentioned at the outset, one of the most important problems is the easy opening of these bags, i.e. to create an improved piercing option for the drinking straw. Problems arise when piercing the drinking straw, particularly in the case of hot-sterile filled containers, since during the filling there is water vapor in the head space of the container, which condenses when it cools down and therefore there is hardly any air in the head space. The result of this is that the puncture hole is now below the liquid level, which can result in uncontrolled liquid leakage if the opening is careless. Furthermore, the resilient and flexible pouch becomes relatively flat due to the puncture force exerted, i.e. the front and back are close together, so that if the puncture is carelessly punctured there is a risk that the back of the beverage container will also be punctured. The problem of "piercing" is also due to the materials and material thicknesses previously used.

A solution to this problem is known from the patent AT 36 59 97, with one Beverage container made of multi-layer composite material is provided a pre-perforation continuous to the inner layer, and the pre-perforation is covered by a multi-layer sealing strip which is welded in the area of the perforation to the exposed inner layer of the container wall. When the closure strip is torn off, the inner layer tears open and thus enables the drinking straw to be inserted easily. From the point of view of environmental protection, however, the above solution presents considerable difficulties, since the tear-open tab is not properly disposed of by consumers, but is simply thrown away.

Another structure is described in DE-A-10 99 445, which is implemented on a tetrahedral packaging container. The container wall is formed from a carrier layer and a plastic layer on the inside. An opening is provided for inserting a drinking straw, but this does not go through the inner plastic layer. The drinking straw only has to penetrate the plastic layer at this puncture opening.

Hiervon ausgehend liegt der vorliegenden Erfindung die Aufgabe Zugrunde, einen Getränkebehälter zu schaffen, der ein leichtes Einstechen eines Trinkhalmes ermöglicht und gleichzeitig auch unter Gesichtspunkten des Umweltschutzes vertretbar ist,Proceeding from this, the present invention is based on the object of creating a beverage container which enables easy insertion of a drinking straw and which is also justifiable from the point of view of environmental protection,

According to the invention, this object is achieved by a beverage container with the features of the characterizing part of claim 1 or claim 2.

This solution enables simple insertion of the drinking straw without an additional tear-open flap to be attached to the outside, the puncture opening being sealed only by a sealing film which is attached to the inside of the mono- or composite material around the puncture opening.

In the case of claim 1, the weld at the puncture opening is relieved by fixing the sealing film to the side seams. In the case of claim 2, the sealing film can either be welded in a ring-shaped, square, rectangular, grid-like manner or in concentric circles around the puncture opening on the inside of the mono- or composite material as a "patch". It is crucial that there is a tight seal around the puncture opening.

The puncture opening can either be a puncture hole or be punched into the mono or composite material like a cross slot. A cross-slit puncture opening gives me the advantage that the material of the container wall is still largely available as an oxygen barrier. By choosing a suitable sealing temperature, the triangular fields created by the stamping are lightly sealed with the sealing film underneath so that they cannot bulge outwards. When the straw is inserted, the triangular fields are then pressed inwards.

Polyethylene, polypropylene and copolymers are provided as materials for the sealing film. The material, which is between 20 and 60 µm thin, allows the straw to be easily inserted, thereby avoiding piercing the back of the bag and preventing the liquid from escaping uncontrollably from the puncture hole. The use of composite film as a sealing film has proven to be particularly advantageous, the structure of which can look like the following: sealing material, coupling agent, barrier layer, coupling agent, sealing material, polyethylene, polypropylene and copolymers being suitable as sealing material, and materials such as EVOH, polyamides as the barrier layer or polyvinyl alcohol can be used. The sealing film can not only be produced as a coextrusion film, but the individual film layers can also be connected using laminating adhesive. One advantage of such composite films is that the barrier layers are hardly permeable to oxygen, and thus there is ideal protection for the filling material.

The closure film can simply be designed as a strip and fixed to the side seams of the beverage bag by means of additional welding spots.

If the sealing film strip is made so wide that it protrudes in the area of the head seal seam, sufficient sealable material is available in this critical area so that the head seal seam can be securely welded in any case, also with regard to any foam formation and splashes of juice that may occur. Due to the additional sealing material at this point, the sealing layer of the front or back of the bag can be kept thinner, which leads to a more cost-effective production of the beverage bags. In this context, sealing film strips thicker than 60 µm can also be used.

Polyesterfolie/Druckfarbe/Kaschierkleber/Aluminiumfolie/Kaschierkleber/Polyethylenfolie.
Another advantage arises in the production of the composite material, which can be constructed as follows, for example, from the outside in:
Polyester film / printing ink / laminating adhesive / aluminum foil / laminating adhesive / polyethylene film. The laminating adhesive, which is applied between aluminum foil and polyester foil, is exposed in conventional manufacturing processes by punching out the polyester foil. The adhesive must therefore dry quickly so that the film webs do not stick together on the roll. This problem can currently only be solved with solvent-based adhesives. One waives on the other hand, on the hole in the polyester film, since the puncture hole is only punched later in the course of the bag production, there is the possibility of using a solvent-free adhesive, which in turn is positive from an environmental point of view.
