Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the consumption of a protecting gas and to eliminate the possibility of discharging harmful gases in a method of feeding a melt of Al or the like into metallic molds in the upper part by means of the pressurized protecting gas by recovering the protecting gas while the pressure is descreased, refining the same and reusing this gas. CONSTITUTION:A valve 21 is closed to feed a protecting gas such as N2 into a sealed vessel 2 through an introduction port 5, by which the free surface 3 of a melt is pressurized to fill the melt through a melt supply pipe 4 into the cavities of dies 6, whereby the melt is solidified or half solidified. Thence, the valve 21 is opened to recover the protecting gas into a low pressure gas recovery vessel 27. The melts in the pipe 4 and a well 8 return by gravity into a vessel 2 and the protecting gas is supplied to near the well 8. The protecting gas recovered into the vessel 27 is measured for compsn. and pressure at every constant time with a detecting meter 22, and when these are out of a control range, the valve of a high pressure protecting gas vessel 24 is controlled whereby the gas is automatically replenished and regulated. A high pressure gas storage vessel 31 with a compressor for protecting gas compresses and stores the gas in the vessel 27 within a constant time during the preset casting period.
