Definitions

  • the present invention relates to an assembly consisting of a tooth and the tooth holder in several parts which adapts thereto making it possible to join it to milling heads.
  • the rate of replacement of the tooth and tooth holder elements of a milling head can be extremely high. For example, it may be necessary to replace all of these teeth and tooth holders an average of ten times a year. In particular, the replacement of a tooth holder on a milling head is an operation that is both long and costly because it is necessary to weld it on the milling head.
  • the teeth to be fitted on the tooth holders are essentially of two types: male type or female type.
  • the male type teeth have a handle which is introduced into a correspondingly shaped cavity of a tooth holder, while the female type teeth fit on a tooth holder having a handle which is inserted into the tooth.
  • Patent application DE-3,731,459 describes a male tooth with a handle in the shape of a truncated cone adaptable in a cavity of corresponding shape of a tooth holder consisting of two parts.
  • This tooth holder comprises a rear part secured to a milling head and a main part capable of carrying a tooth.
  • the attachment of these two parts of the tooth holder is effected by an interlocking, in the form of a truncated cone, present on the main part of the tooth holder in a cavity of corresponding shape in the rear part of the tooth holder.
  • the attachment of the tooth and the various parts of the tooth holder is ensured by a fixing device located at the base of the tooth holder.
  • this tooth / tooth holder assembly has a free surface located between the neck of the tooth and the upper edge of the main part of the tooth holder, and on which the bending and twisting forces are very marked.
  • Patent application GB-2 143 801 describes a tooth
  • this nesting offers little resistance to the bending and twisting forces exerted on the tooth and the tooth holder during drilling or earthmoving operations.
  • Document DE-C-3,731,459 describes a male tooth with a handle in the form of a truncated cone adaptable in a cavity of corresponding shape of a tooth holder consisting of two parts.
  • This tooth holder comprises a rear part secured to a milling head and a main part capable of carrying a tooth.
  • the two parts of the tooth holder are joined together by an interlocking, in the form of a truncated cone, present on the main part of the tooth holder in a correspondingly shaped cavity in the rear part of the tooth holder.
  • the solution proposed in this document consists in preventing the rotation of the different parts of the tooth holder using a key inserted into an orifice.
  • a fixing device located at the base of the main part of the tooth holder.
  • This device also consists of the key mentioned above which is introduced into the corresponding orifice.
  • this device constituted by the key performs several functions simultaneously: securing the tooth with the tooth holder and correct positioning both of the main part of the tooth holder in the rear part and of the tooth itself in the main part of the tooth holder.
  • this tooth / tooth holder assembly has a free surface located between the neck of the tooth and the upper edge of the main part of the tooth holder and on which the torsional forces are very marked. This free surface causes significant local wear at this location of the tooth and of the main part of the tooth holder and therefore causes a relatively high rate of replacement of the various elements.
  • the tooth has a handle split over the entire length so as to have two branches. This handle is inserted into a housing of the tooth holder which essentially has a shape corresponding to that of the handle of the tooth. parallelepiped.
  • a small groove is shown in the housing of the tooth holder in the various figures of this document. This does not in any case cooperate with a corresponding rib on the handle of the tooth and can therefore never serve as a means of attachment between the tooth and the tooth holder.
  • connection between the tooth and the tooth holder is carried out using a key which, after engagement of the handle of the tooth in the housing of the tooth holder, is introduced into an orifice of the tooth holder and thus allows spread the two branches of the tooth handle to block it in the housing.
  • the present invention aims to provide, while avoiding the drawbacks of the solutions of the prior art, a tooth / tooth holder assembly having a high resistance in bending and in torsion
  • the present invention also aims to provide a solution which allows less frequent replacement of the tooth holder on a milling head or cutter, without having to increase the frequency of replacement of the tooth adapting thereto.
  • the present invention aims to provide a solution offering an appreciable economic gain by better use of the material.
  • the invention relates to a tooth / tooth holder assembly consisting of a tooth and a tooth holder in several parts comprising a rear part intended to be made integral with a milling head and at least one universal main part capable of wear the tooth, the means of attachment between the universal main part and the rear part of the tooth holder being constituted by an interlocking of the universal main part which engages in a correspondingly shaped cavity in the rear part of the tooth holder, and the fastening means between the tooth and the universal main part comprising a handle present on the tooth or on the universal main part of the tooth holder which is introduced into a central cavity of the universal main part of the tooth holder or the tooth characterized in that the interlocking between the universal main part and the rear part of the tooth holder is in the form of a pyramidal trunk, preferably e with square or rectangular section; and in that at least one rib and / or groove present on the handle of the universal part of the tooth holder or of the tooth engages in at least one groove and / or rib of
  • the attachment of the tooth to the tooth holder is also effected by the introduction of the handle of the tooth into a central cavity of the universal main part of the tooth holder and by a notch on the handle of the tooth which fits on an external key which will then be introduced into the central cavity of the universal main part of the tooth holder.
  • the characteristics of the tooth / tooth holder assembly according to the present invention can also apply to female type teeth which have an internal cavity in which fits the corresponding handle of the universal main part of the holder. -tooth.
  • the handle of the universal main part of the tooth holder has a notch on which is fitted a key which will then be introduced into the central cavity of the tooth.
  • the universal main part of the tooth holder also has chamfers at its base providing a weld section between the two contact surfaces of the two parts of the tooth holder.
  • the tooth has at its base a skirt of flared shape which preferably has an overflow which is greater than the width of the tooth holder.
  • flared means that the angle relative to the central axis presented by the outer profile of the skirt at its base is significantly greater than the angle formed at the tip of the tooth, always relative to the 'central axis.
  • This provides additional wear protection for the two parts of the tooth holder and possibly a part of the milling head serving as a support for the tooth holders.
  • Another aspect of the invention relates to the tooth of the male or female type intended for the tooth / tooth holder assembly according to the invention and comprising at its base a skirt of flared shape.
  • the tooth holder has two parts: a rear part 1 adaptable according to the type of milling head and a universal main part 2 adapted to wear tooth 6.
  • the length of the universal main part 2 is significantly greater than that of the rear part 1.
  • the means of joining together between the party main universal 2 and the rear part 1 of the tooth holder consists of a socket 3 of pyramidal shape, preferably of square or rectangular section, which engages in a cavity 3 'of corresponding shape of the rear part 1 of the door -tooth.
  • This socket 3 ensures rapid lateral and angular axial positioning of the universal main part 2 in the rear part 1 of the tooth holder and contributes to reducing the weld section necessary for their joining.
  • the latter in order to strengthen the connection between the rear part 1 and the universal main part 2 of the tooth holder, the latter also has chamfers 12 offering a relatively small weld section between the contact surfaces of the two parts of the tooth holder .
  • This particular form of attachment advantageously allows faster replacement of the universal main part which, of the parts of the tooth holder, undergoes the most significant wear.
  • the attachment means between the universal main part 2 and the tooth 6 are preferably constituted by ribs 20 of the tooth holder which engage in grooves 21 of corresponding shape of the tooth 6. These grooves end in pins 4 lateral which engage in cavities 5 of a corresponding shape of tooth 6.
  • the tooth 6 which fits on the universal main part 2 of the tooth holder is a so-called male tooth having a handle 7 which is introduced into the central cavity 8 of the universal main part 2 and the connection between the tooth and the universal main part 2 of the tooth holder is also produced by a notch 9 present on the handle 7 of the tooth 6 which is fitted onto a key 10 which will then be introduced into the central cavity 8 of the universal main part 2.
  • This forward extension due to the lateral pins 4 of the tooth holder can also transmit a torque and thus contributes to increasing the resistance to torsion of the connection between the tooth 6 and the universal main part of the tooth holder 2.
  • the means of attachment between the tooth 6 and the universal main part of the tooth holder can be constituted by the core 13 and the wings 14 of the handle 7 of the tooth 6, forming a rib which engage in cavities 15 forming a groove of corresponding shape of the universal main part 2 of the tooth holder.
  • the extension of the universal main part 2 of the tooth holder forwards in the form of lateral pins 4 has the effect of reducing the vertical reaction of the handle 7 of the tooth 6 due to bending forces and, consequently, of reducing the maximum bending moment at the connection between the handle 7 and the tip 24 of the tooth 6.
  • the tooth of the tooth / tooth holder assembly has at its base a skirt 23 of flared shape which advantageously protects the tooth holder from wear.
  • the loose materials during the rotation of the milling heads are deflected by the flared shape of the tooth and the particles are projected so as not to come into direct contact with the tooth holder.
  • the skirt 23 has an overflow with respect to the tooth holder, that is to say if the height H2 of the skirt 23 of the tooth 6 is preferably between 1.1 and 1, 2 times the height H1 of the tooth holder.
  • the width of the skirt B2 can be understood between 1.1 and 1.2 times the width B1 of the tooth holder.
  • This protection makes it possible to multiply the life of the tooth holder by at least a factor of 3.
  • the teeth having a flared skirt allow an economic gain which can be estimated at BEF 3,000,000 per year.
  • the tooth / tooth holder assembly will have improved bending and torsional strength compared to the prior art due to the forward extension of the connection between the tooth and the universal main part of the tooth holder.
  • the rear part 1 of the tooth holder is preferably made according to the current forms of the state of the art. It comes in the form of a welding nose with or without reinforcement allowing it to adapt to existing milling heads. This means, in particular, that the rear part 1 conventionally has two chamfers 15 of large code section for the tooth holders produced in one piece according to the prior art.
  • this rear part 1 which is of simple shape is not frequently replaced.
  • the universal main part 2 of the tooth holder is subject to much greater wear, in particular due to imperfect contact between the tooth and the universal main part of the tooth holder which produces deterioration. progressive contact surfaces which necessitates frequent replacement of the universal main part 2.
  • the rear part 1 of the tooth holder is extended by two lugs 16 whose spacing is equal to the thickness of the milling head 17 and which are each welded to one of the faces of the milling head 17.
  • This type of more robust tooth holder is called "double leg".
  • this “double leg” configuration takes longer to weld than the conventional nose-shaped configuration, a “double leg” tooth holder produced in two parts according to the invention does not require positioning calibration when changes the universal main part of the tine holder, which allows easy replacement on site.
  • the two-part construction of the tooth holder saves time and money. particularly important material in the case of a "double leg" configuration in two parts.
  • the replacement only of the universal main part of the tooth holder according to the invention is carried out in two or three hours instead of the ten to twelve hours necessary when it is necessary to replace the whole tooth holder on the milling head .
  • the shape of the universal main part 2 of the tooth holder described above is unique for all milling heads, only the rear part 1 varies according to the type of milling for which it is intended; whereas previously it was necessary to provide a complete tooth holder for each configuration of the milling head, depending on whether it had to have a nose to be welded without or with one or two reinforcements, or depending on whether it was 'a double leg tooth holder.
  • the tooth / tooth holder assembly according to the invention is more resistant to the forces of bending and twisting, wears less quickly than the prior art tooth / tooth holder assemblies.
  • the rear part of the tooth holder can vary between 3.3 kg for a conventional tooth holder while the universal main part weighs 6.3 kg. If we consider that a "cutter" has 48 teeth and that on average we must make 500 replacements per cutter per year of the universal main part of the tooth holder, the amount of material saved can be estimated at a minimum at 1,650 kg per year per cutter, i.e. a saving of around 200,000 BEF per year per cutter .
  • the shape of the tooth handle of the tooth / tooth holder assembly according to the present invention also allows a more rational use of the material, while making it possible to reinforce the resistance of this tooth to the bending and twisting forces. .
  • the tooth described in the preferred embodiment of the invention is a tooth of the male type.
  • Those skilled in the art can easily produce a tooth / tooth holder assembly having the essential characteristics of the tooth / tooth holder assembly according to the present invention for a female type tooth.
